Our server Nick was above and beyond not only in service but in personality. He was great. The restaurant was nice and had a wonderful atmosphere. The portions were huge. Everything was very delicious. Our new favorite place for calamari. We had grilled calamari, fried calamari, baked clams, lamb chop lollipops, and the veal parmesan which was huge and platter sized. Thank goodness we decided to split the parmesan. The pasta sauce with the veal parmesan was to die for. I'm not a huge red sauce fan and this tomato sauce is probably the best I've had. Had a very nice time on our anniversary and will be back for sure. Highly recommend. 10 out of 10
First time here, we reserved an early dinner spot and decided to eat at the bar. Uriel was a very good and attentive server. We each ordered a drink before dinner and enjoyed some bread before ordering. My wife ordered the cavatelli and I had the oricheiette with Italian sausage with brocollini. Both dishes were very good! We finished up with an order of tiramisu and salted caramel Gelato, highly recommend both. I had read a bunch of negative reviews prior to heading to dinner but was pleasantly surprised with our experience!
Great experience, we went for an anniversary dinner. Overall the service was great with the reservation time being honored, the waiter Julian was excellent! The food is delish and keeping true to the Rosebud name. I would only say that the dress code needs to be enforced, it is clearly listed on the website and it should surely be enforced to keep the value in the location.
This is exactly what I want when I go out for Italian food. I hate the congestion of downtown Naperville but it's worth threading my truck through the swarm of Prius just to get here. Either way, the food...... The entrées here are hearty, high quality, made with fresh ingredients, and done correctly. The veal parmigiano was enormous, the cheese was very good - not some slice of prepackaged junk. The tomato sauce was outstanding. The Alfredo sauce was creamy but not too heavy and the pasta had a perfect texture. All of the desserts we tried were fantastic. I like places like this because they don't have to play up their ethnicity to appear authentic. It's honest good food the way it was intended. The place was packed when we got there but service was pretty good. Our glasses were never empty and the waiter was attentive. No complaints there at all. In all, it's not much more expensive than the Olive Garden (which is the worst thing to ever victimize Italian food) the portions are good, the ingredients are fresh, and the ambiance is very nice - even if dining outside in Naperville is like living in a Gap advertisement from 1999. Judging by the threats of prison shanking from Wifey-poo if I ate her leftovers it's safe to say that she liked it too.
Update 11/14/25 Well they finally opened Rosebuds back up.looks great inside, they did a nice job, much better than before , bar still small but so much better than prior. Food was excellent, photos say it all. Ceasar salad , veal Vessuvio and spaghetti and meatballs, just outstanding! Lucas was outstanding but really sad to see no bar seating. Veal parm and whitefish was Outstanding
1st time visiting since the early 90s. Different location. Nonetheless, place was lively for a Monday evening in Naperville. Mid-pandemic did not change my rating. Service was excellent; Great food choices; Pricey but LARGE food portions. Had a great time with family. Would return.
We arrived 45 minutes before closing, they still extended the red carpet, the waiter Julio was exceptionally professional. The food was excellent and the cocktails were superb. We had a great time. We will be back real soon.
Came here for my moms birthday , everything went well. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious . I had rigatoni a la vodka with grilled chicken , which was very flavorful and tasty. It is expensive, but well worth it in my opinion
We started with the stuffed mushrooms, and they were fantastic. The sauce is garlicky and good to use as a dipping sauce for bread. I got fettuccine alfredo, and my husband got baked cavatelli. They were both good. We finished with coconut cake, which was a very large piece, easily shareable. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was pleasant. Plenty of parking in garage across the street.
Phenomenal! I’m in town visiting and I can see why my friends brought me here straight from the airport! The service was amazing (thank you, Margie!) and everything was so delicious. My dinner portion was so substantial it was plenty for lunch the next day. Highly recommend!
I got the spagetti and meatball pasta. My time here was very much appreciated and everything was served in a timely manner. Thank you!! They serve bread with along with dinner and butter is not served, must ask if needed. Overall, I'd come here again. The atmosphere at this place is very classy.
My wife and I have always had good meals here. If you like Italian this is a perfect place with great window views of Washington and Chicago ave. I had the muscle linguine and my wife had the bass, both well made. Waitstaff are perfect.
If you want the best service Naperville has to offer come to this Rosebud location and ask for Jimmy or Patrick. They all have exquisite serving etiquette and really care about the customer experience. Will be eating here every time I’m in town.
Great menu options and food is made promptly. Square pasta was suggested to us by the waiter and it was a great choice. Service was wonderful as well.
Christmas Eve was just not the same this year..instead of cooking for 15 it was just my son and I. Our server was the best( Brianna ), she didn’t rush us, she offered her suggestions which are pictured below and made our experience a 5🌟.. who knows I may end up making this a tradition next year for all 15 of us. Thank you Rosebud‼️
Over all it was good, our server was quite informative and nice. She had Shells and broccoli and I Rosebud traditional meat lasagna
Our server was excellent. Our meals were incredible. The ambiance was so elegant and everything was beautiful inside . It had been over 20 years since we last dined at Rosebud. Definitely exceeded our expectations. The server even brought us Cannoli’s on the house. It was a nice date night and will definitely return. Valet parking was also speedy! Top notch
We order carry out… So happy the restaurant participates with InKind lots of gluten free options- up charge is the norm most restaurants… the portions for chicken Parmesan are huge enough for 2-3 meals.. I’m a lifelong resident I know short cuts etc to bypass limited parking at River Square.
For a Chicago Restaurant Group, the newly remodeled Rosebud Naperville has all the qualities of the original Rosebud on Taylor Street in Chicago! Thanks to management, service and classic recipes and cooks, it is a must!
We’ve been waiting for the reopening of the Rosebud in Naperville & finally made it last night. It was a celebration for our granddaughter’s Fall piano recital as well as her early bday celebration too. Our server , Saul was excellent . He was very attentive & made sure we had everything we needed . Of course the food was phenomenal & didn’t disappoint at all. We can’t wait to go back .
Sit at the bar and hope Joe is working! Makes some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. Can’t go wrong with anything food wise on the menu. Great portions and worth the price. 5/5!
Excellent, really Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Highly recommend it.
Food is delicious. Service was great. Portions are good.
Deedee was fantastic and the food was as well I definitely recommend the veal parmigiana absolutely delicious
We went for a Sunday lunch with kids. Great place. The garlic knot is soooo good. My personal favorite is the sunday gravy with beef and tomatoes. Kids love their spaghetti and meatballs. And be prepared! Their portion is huge. We had to carry a lot leftover home.
The re-opening of Rosebud was very good. Their favorites are still on the menu, and there are some inspiring new dishes as well. The new layout of the restaurant dining and bar area is very inviting and feels more open than it used to, and the new fireplace gives it an upscale but very homey feel. The bar can now accommodate more people and it is away from the clammer of the kitchen.
I took my wife out for her birthday at the Naperville location. We were immediately greeted and seated by a very friendly hostess. Our waitress Tina, who was also the bartender was phenomenal very attentive and caring. Scott, the manager was very friendly and professional as we watched him help out from the time we got there till the time we left.(Great team work) You do not see customer service like that anymore. we will definitely be back soon. Also the restaurant is beautiful after waiting fourteen months. Glad to see you back!
Love the make-over! Menu hasn’t changed much but somehow much easier to read. Food was outstanding & service was perfect. Heading back there tonight, as a matter of fact. Looking forward to it’
Although we arrived @ nearly closing time last night, we were graciously greeted by Nicola, Nick, who provided Kim, Dean, Barbara & me good dining experience. Having wait staff like Nicola will keep us coming back...Thanks again Nick!
I sat at the bar with Joe, he was absolutely wonderful, so charismatic, and took amazing care of me. Was so quick to get me a drink and made it absolutely amazing. He was able to accommodate me with making my espresso martini with Baileys. Highly recommend sitting with Joe. Whether it’s in the bar or in the dining room!
Mr. Lorenzo our server and waitstaff Mr. Galel gave great srrvice. The food was delicious! Mr. Christian the manager was very kind in making sure our evening was enjoyable.
Absolutely outstanding service! Our hostess Kylie was incredible from the moment we walked in. She greeted us with a genuine smile, made us feel welcomed instantly, and went above and beyond to make sure our visit was perfect. Friendly, attentive, and effortlessly professional — you can tell she truly cares about making every guest feel special.
Saul was an amazing host. We've been before but we brought out party of 5 with a reservation and got sat immediately, were attended to constantly, and had a phenomenal experience. We will be back, again, for sure. Highly recommend this gem for an authentic Italian experience in a beautiful setting with top notch service.
Simply excellent. I cannot emphaize enough how good this place is. The food we got was excellent, all of the staff were so friendly and it is just enjoyable. Is it expensive? Yes. But it is more than worth the price.
Celebrating 18 years of marriage, my wife and I returned to Rosebud where we had our first date 20 years ago. We love the old school, traditional style of Rosebud. The food, as expected, was phenomenal! I got the gnocchi in vodka sauce and my wife got chicken Marsala. Both were excellent! Unfortunately the service was lacking a bit. It might have been because we think our table was behind the bar and perhaps on the edge of our servers area. But nobody asked us for another drink until we had our food wrapped up in a take home bag. At that point why get another drink? Also disappointing that our water glasses went empty for most of our dinner. We also didn’t like the noisy and cramped atmosphere. We would have enjoyed a more relaxed dining experience. Despite the good food, we expected better service especially considering the prices. Sadly we will probably not be coming back to Rosebud.
I know....I know......I'm so 1999 behind with the Rosebud experience since this is my first time there like ever. But there isn't one close enough to my home so I never really thought much about it until I went to Costco and saw that they have gift cards for $80 and you get $100. So I bought some to try out with the hubby on a Friday evening date night. Of course I made reservation. Naperville downtown has always been one of my favorite places. Reminds me of the north side where people are singing and lots of night life. There isn't parking out front so we did public parking a few blocks away but it was a nice evening so I didn't mind the walk. The atmosphere was nice and it was spacious enough for the 6 feet distancing. I ordered the LaMarca prosecco which I probably shouldn't have because LaMarca is LaMarca in a bottle. Nothing special. I should have went with a house martini. I just wasn't thinking. Ughhhhh! The spicy calamari was out of this world!!!! I mean it was huge with the most delicious spicy sauce! I would go back just for the calamari appetite ALONE! We also got the chicken parmesan and I was fairly disappointed. It was so tough. I just didn't love it. I will never order that again. I ordered that because everyone said how great it is. Maybe it was a bad night but mine wasn't that great. It was flat and tough and not tasty at all. I brought it home for my boys. Boys eat everything. We shared this eggplant parmesan caprese salad and that was soooooo delicious! I would also go back for that. Restaurant was beautiful. People were nice. Food was delicious besides the chicken parmesan. We had a great evening and would definitely go back to the Rosebud on Naperville again!
Decent restaurant with delicious food and rather large portion sizes. Would recommend using the food with a wine. Good for families as well. Only downsides were that the restaurant was too crowded and ventilation was questionable so it was pretty warm in there and this is a pretty pricey restaurant so at the least I would like to be comfortable.
Decent Italian, but not the best flavor wise. Good portions. The chicken parm was probably the best but Lord that's one hell of a portion.
Had ordered roasted half chicken and rosebud veggie pasta. Roasted chicken was perfect, well cooked flavorful. Veggie pasta was slightly high on salt. The 2 seat tables are really cramped. No space to move around. Seating did disappoint.
Overall a disappointing experience. Main meal pizza and pasta dish was okay. Nothing to write home about. The starter was seriously disappointing. Went for the shrimp cocktail. The waiter asked how many shrimp I want. I figured it is a shrimp cocktail so however many it comes with. He said the price is just for one shrimp. So I thought this must be one damn good shrimp. Well, it was a forgettable one. No flavor on it at all. Was raw and no sauce to dip it in. Just a slice of lemon that still had the store sticker on it. Have to say worst shrimp cocktail I have ever had. Gave the review 2 stars because the ambiance was nice and it does have a cool looking bar. I should of just hung out there.
Very disappointed with the quality of food and service. We got a table for 2 outside, the only reason i give it 2 star because all the worked are helpful and smile. They brought the drinks after 15-20 min, we were already half way through our apps. This is a huge red flag for me, and it was 4.30 pm so the restaurant wasn’t busy. The food was average, we love italian food, and nothing we tried was good. Drink were nothing special either. Will definitely not come back again. PS: look how brown is the sauce on the seafood griliata, this tastes nothing like it should be.
I would avoid their Cacio e Pepe. We had family order take out for us tonight as a gift and I thought they left the sauce off. As you can see in the photo there was almost zero pepper and it looks and tasted like it was tossed in water and sprinkled with flavorless cheese. When I called to say I think they left the sauce off they essentially told me this is how the dish is made and I was wrong… so tonight was bad food and bad customer service. I have given this place so many chances because we live close and my husband likes their chicken parm, but I think tonight will be my last Rosebud meal.
My server was great and everyone was very nice. However, I do have a few concerns. When I was seated, the bread was already on the table. To be fair, I’m not sure how long it had been sitting there, but I would recommend bringing the bread out after guests are seated to ensure it feels fresh. I also ordered the breaded parmesan, which was okay, but it would have been much better if it had been served hot. By the time the food was brought out and placed on the table, it was cold. It definitely would have been more enjoyable if it had been served warm. Additionally, I’ve noticed that some restaurants seem to rush food out very quickly. I remember when dining out meant waiting 20 to 30 minutes for freshly prepared meals. Restaurants should focus on quality and freshness rather than speed. A restaurant experience shouldn’t feel like fast food it should prioritize fresh, well-prepared dishes and great quality overall.
I am extremely disappointed with the experience we had tonight. We came to celebrate my mom’s birthday, and the service was completely unacceptable. She only ordered a salad, yet her meal arrived after everyone else at the table. When we asked if anything could be done considering the delay—and the fact that the staff knew we were celebrating her birthday—we were told nothing would be done. This level of service was incredibly disheartening. This used to be a family favorite, not sure we will be back.
Very very poor food quality, I mean the picture says it all!!! No sauce no flavor!! Very disappointed. I wish there were negative stars, would have done more justice. And WAISTED ALL THE MONEY FOR FOOD IN TRASH.
Order the Lamb Lolipops. We ordered well done. They came out burnt. So we had a replacement made. When the replacement came out, it was pink. He explained that he couldn't cook it well done and not have it burnt. What the heck!?!?!?! Dude. So as a chef myself, I asked, you mean to tell me, you can't bring your Lamb up to temp without it being burnt? Wow ok. They took it off our bill. Also ordered Spaghetti and meatballs. Noodles were over cooked. NO GO!! Also I gave this a 2 stars and don't know why it a five. ONLY 2 STARS
We went very unassuming for fun to this place. This place isn’t it. It has high prices for mediocre food. Most of the food that we got wasn’t that good. This was the food that I got. It was the Chicken Piccata. This is lowkey garbage. I should’ve returned it as this wasn’t made well. The lemon butter sauce is so salty and borderline inedible. If you need some taste or something and can’t eat plain chicken, do not come here and order this. I doused it in chili flakes to get some satisfaction but at that point just give it back to them. Save your money. Trust. I give two stars because they sat us pretty quickly. It might be in me for ordering this but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Husband and I tried this place for the first time for our anniversary. Showed up late to our reservation due to weather but it didn’t seem to be an issue as there was only a few tables taken. When the host checked us in he rudely said “good thing I didn’t cancel your reservation for being late” and lead us to a tiny table right at the kitchen entrance. We had employees bumping our table constantly while walking by because we were so close to the kitchen door and there was not enough space between us and the table next to us which had a group of people sitting there. The food was bad and over priced. I still had a great time because my husband is good company but we both agree the food was disappointing. Our waitress was good so that was a plus.
Got greeted by the server telling us the special dish of the day and she said it’s $30 by the way like MA’AM why are you dropping the price on me like I’m poor and can’t afford it. Everything in ya’lls menu is like that range. Racist and discrimination for real. Real sad because I enjoyed rosebud in Chicago and now that I live in Naperville I can’t dine somewhere I’d enjoy without being discriminated!
Just called to ask a simple question. Rosebud, it’s very disappointing to have you open back up with such terrible service. We will take our business elsewhere. You may want to retrain your employee “Nick” on how to properly communicate with customers. Too bad.
