Timbers at Lied Lodge

My wife and I stayed at the Lied Lodge and ate three meals at Timbers. Service was good. The place was clean with very nice ambience. The food, with the exception of our breakfast potatoes (terribly salty - they did replace them and they were better but still salty), was excellent. The baked Brie and Tiramisu were easily the best I've ever enjoyed. I'll gladly go back.

Nice restaurant inside of The Lied Lodge near the entryway. The rolls served first are good and they offer regular or blueberry butter. The entrees were decent. I had some pretty sad looking steak frites, but the steak was cooked perfectly ( definitely not worth 36 dollars though). The Cajun pasta was good. They did offer free dessert for my girlfriends birthday that was yummy.

My husband and I were staying at the Lied Lodge during Apple Jack Festival. Sunday morning we had reservations at 9am at Timbers. We arrived about 5 minutes early and were seated right away. There were quite a few open tables still. Our waitress, Grace, was very sweet and attentive. My husband ordered the Apple Pancakes and I ordered the French Toast. We also ordered a side of breakfast potatoes. We really enjoyed our breakfast! We had been seated at a table by the windows and it would have been so lovely except that the fog was so intense. We couldn't see past a few feet from the window.

Note to Timbers team: your front of house folks are so wonderful. We never felt uncomfortable or unwelcome with our littles! Just wish the menu had a few more “traditional” items after a day of hiking and playing!! We were unaware the menus had been completely overhauled — did not even think to look it up after visiting just last fall (and many falls before that). It felt less like a dinner menu you could easily choose from (and afford) as a lodge guest with small children, and more like an extremely high-end dining menu for perhaps one night. And, similar to other reviews, the flavors were lacking. The meals looked beautifully plated, but they were so bland and overcooked (lasagna, chicken, kids grilled cheese and tomato soup). Breakfast was, for the most part, amazing! Loved that experience so much!!! Kids loved the windows overlooking trees, the kind servers, the comfy chairs… and it’s such a peaceful atmosphere as opposed to so many overstimulating places. If you’re staying at the lodge, be sure to look at the Timbers menu ahead of time and plan your dining accordingly. Would strongly recommend heading into town if you have picky eaters with you. (And budget accordingly!).

Wife and I had breakfast, the service was great, very attentive and welcoming. We ordered the parfait and the cinnamon roll. The portions were large and had great presentation. The parfait was a little expensive, but good. however the cinnamon roll was dry and cold. We were very disappointed in the cinnamon roll. Afterwards we read reviews and saw another complaint about the cinnamon roll being dry and cold. I just don't understand how they think it's ok to serve it like that. It's a beautiful place and has so much potential, but the food did not arrive with the quality expected. I cannot recommend at this time.

We did not have reservations. Had driven from Omaha to experience fall. Apples, pumpkins and Lied Lodge dining We both ordered the chicken and waffles. $22.00. The waffles were tasteless. The fried chicken was small and the crust was so hard we could hardly cut it. Would not recommend.

We went there today for their Thanksgiving buffet. $55 for adults, $20 per child. The staff were very nice. We appreciate them working on a holiday. The reason for the 2 stars is because the food was very 'okay'. There was an autumn vegetable soup that was very tasty-but it was barely warm. The roast beef was also tasty-but was cold. The pumpkin pie was cold. The stuffing-cold. The dinner rolls appeared to be just store bought. None of it was terrible, but it was very mediocre. If you're going to offer a buffet at least find a way to keep the food warm. It certainly wasn't worth at trip from Omaha and that much money. We won't go again and won't recommend it to anyone.

We had a group of 11 and 4 ordered the chicken sandwich on the brunch menu. All 4 of the chicken sandwiches had burned chicken on them, I mean the chicken was black. Sent them all back and they did take them off the ticket but I expected a higher quality meal for the price. One of our party had French toast that was not done in the middle. Our waitress was wonderful but the food not so much. We will NOT return.

We just had dinner there tonight part of us enjoying the Apple Jack festival. We ate at timbers last year. Boy has it went downhill since last yrea. The kids had the kids meal hamburgers which all of them liked. My wife had the Halibut special which was a very small piece of fish for $30. I had the chicken that was not very big. and also tasted bad. The prices on the website are lower than when you get to Timbers. They do have a good ambience and our waitress was very nice. That cannot make up for the poor quality and quantity of the food. I almost could not eat my chicken it tasted horrible.

TLDR: This place is not worth the money. It's pretty and that's about it. You will leave hungry after a $200 meal for two. We just ate there tonight for our date night and we both were extremely disappointed. While the service was alright, (the waitress was bubbly but was not very attentive) the place was covered in visible dust, the carpets are coming up at the seams, and chairs and tables are horribly scuffed and dinged, which may sound like nit picking but when you're charging these prices your facility should probably look like it's worth the cost. As for the food....we both got steak which came with a smear of "mashed" potato and a couple of squash cubes on top ($50/person) and the steak was doing all the heavy lifting for every category on this place. Steak was great, the potatoes were liquid and the squash was slimy. We also got bread service ($10/person) and Parmesan garlic fies (BF subbed his squash for them so no charge). The bread was literally Walmart pull apart buns, hard crusty microwaved corners and all, with some grated Parmesan on top, and the fries were almost too hard to eat and what we did get down was flavorless. We left still hungry and had to hit fast food on the way back out of town. And despite all of this, we still left a $55 dollar tip! Save yourself the disappointment and just go to Little Teds, they NEVER drop the ball on their food.
