It was our first time trying this place while visiting San Antonio and they did NOT disappoint! Food was piping hot and the Margaritas were on point! The staff introduced themselves and managed to stay attentive to everyone eating making sure they were satisfied. I can see why they've been around so long. We forgot to take pics, but we will next time. We went back before we left and were happy to see they have a location in New Braunfels as well... a short drive for us and I can't wait to go again! We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. It's one of those 'order first and be seated' next. Not my favorite approach to dining but it seemed to work for our party of 6. Collectively, we ordered coconut shrimp, fresh oysters, a seafood boil, fish/shrimp combos. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, no complaints. For casual dining I think it's worth a try. We even have plenty of leftover and the prices were good.

The staff here were amazing! It was our first time and they answered all questions clearly and with care. It is unfortunate that there are no boils available without mussels, so I missed out on trying it. After ordering up front and sitting, the wait was not too long. The frozen jack and coke (perfect adult slushee!) and self serve fountains kept us satisfied. The restaurant had business, but was not busy Thursday evening. The char broiled shrimp, lemon pepper fish, fries, seasoned rice, coleslaw, and gumbo were good. The gumbo could use more flavor but I can understand needing to keep a tasteful pallet for all, adding in hot sauce at a nearby stand did help. The colossal shrimp, hush puppies, green beans, and diablo cakes were INCREDIBLE. Personally, I would not choose to order a steak here again. I ordered a medium regrettably as the center was cold, red, and chewy. The facility was very clean. Staff was very pleasant and prices were more than fair. The current 1965 meal is perfect for those who enjoy sampling AND getting full. The portion size was great and I will enjoy leftover for lunch!

Well when we went to the sea island in San Antonio the food was HOT and the service was GREAT. So we decided to go to the one in New Braunfels and the food was cold. The corn on the cob was cold etc and my catfish was just warm.as well as my wife's. NOT sure if they are trying to keep the food warm under a light are pre making fries etc but it wasn't HOT. So we decided to finish our drink which was good but got a to go bag to take.our food home to warm up

The food at this place is so AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!!!! Everyone is very nice. It’s definitely worth the price you pay to eat here. Also the food came out very quickly. We received our food within 10 minutes from placing our order.

Fried shrimp and white fish were good as well. Ordered ceciche as well that was plentiful and tasty, served with sturdy chips to hold the fish. An excellent seafood choice for great food without the long sit down wait!

Sea Island Shrimp House is a very nice place you go to for some really great seafood. You get plenty of food with.your order and everything is so delicious 😋 Our grandson requested to go on his birthday 9/11/25 because he wanted to eat some oysters on a half shell 🐚 also some fried oysters, and fish tacos . The seafood platter will definitely fill you up. I couldn't eat it all so I had to bring some home for the next day. My Husband had cod fish, coleslaw and clam shower, my daughter had a fish sandwich, fries and Gumbo. Every single staff member I came into contact with was so nice. Extremely nice! Like I would like to work there lol The appetizer I got was not on the menu it was just flashing on a screen and it was a shrimp cocktail with shrimp and that was DELICIOUS. The crab was okay but I like spicy Cajun seafood. To make it better I dipped the crab in the juice from the shrimp cocktail and that was delicious. I think that should be a dish. Surprisingly, we went on a Friday during Lent, and not too busy. They have a lot of choices, all delicious, not too expensive. I had not been here for a while, but they serve alcohol here. Sea Island is a good choice for seafood. All delicious! I guess it is a regional restaurant, you don't see them everywhere. There are several around Austin and San Antonio. The only complaint is that we asked the busser for a take out box, and he pointed out that they were under a counter. He could have gotten them for us. Oh, well, first world problems.

Based in San Antonio,this new spot by the biggest Buccess in Texas is might fine. Good place to get some twangy seafood or Relax with tap or margaritas. Been here a few times for them tasty vittles and then some.

This place is a gem! Great food and really friendly service. The place is clean and the restrooms are well stocked and clean. First time here and we are most definitely coming back! I had shrimp tacos either spinach and coleslaw that was phenomenal. My wife had shrimp pasta and she said it was the best ever and even thanked the staff for a wonderful meal. Highly recommended if you are in Texas.

Very good food. $69 for 3 people isn't bad for seafood either. Mom had a senior platter with a side salad, dad had the catfish and I ate a bowl of Gumbo, 7 grilled shrimp and the crab and shrimp boil. We were all stuffed afterward. Not sure how drink refills work though. Maybe you're supposed to help yourself? Thankfully the plastic drink cups are a decent size >=32 ounces... Overall a great experience.

The catfish was delicious, the okra was sublime, don't even get me started on their fried shrimp🤤 the hush puppies were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft inside, the clam chowder was amazing too. I will come back again and again for sure, it's so hard to find good seafood for a decent price. And the service was very prompt and everyone was so polite❤️

Thank you for not changing much over the years. We have been going to sea island in San Antonio for years and this is a chip off the old block. We enjoyed lunch and will be back. My only complaint is they got rid of the shrimp platter I always got. Girls loved the fish bites so everyone was happy. Super friendly staff and clean restaurant. Thank you and see you guys soon.

What a magnificent place and I'm so happy to have a new location here in New Braunfels. I usually get the fried oyster platter and I can say that I have never been more satisfied out of all the places that I have ordered fried oysters. We are perfectly tasty and perfectly juicy and perfectly fried.... Just like fried oysters should be! It's almost hard to believe how fast the food comes out and it still tastes like it's just come out of the fryer. Everyone in my family loves so many items on the menu. The lobster rolls are very tasty, as well as the catfish and of course the shrimp. The fried seafood is always perfectly salted and I think that means a lot when it comes to getting the perfect taste. A few other cool things are they have beer and margaritas on ice, and they do not annoyingly ask for a tip just for taking your order. They also have waitresses that bring your food to your table and also pick up your plates afterwards. I'm actually very surprised that they don't ask for a tip because they work so and are so helpful. I love the design of this new building how open and spacious it is with clear story windows and a harbor house feel to the interior design. You're going to love this new location!

I live in Wimberley and my neighbor and I decided to go shopping in New Braunfels. We were headed to the Home store when we noticed Sea Island shrimp House. Since we were both hungry, we made a note of the place so we could come back to it. We finally rolled in around 1:30 in the afternoon and even at the time there were several people there. It's a nice setup. We placed our order in the front. I picked something off of the lunch special. I told the ladies it was I first time being there and they were very helpful. We were given a number that we placed on the edge of the table and than our food just appeared. They have other people to bring the food out to you. The food was wonderful. We didn't have soft drinks but it looked like a person could get free refills. My neighbor liked it so much she said she was going to bring her kids back. Oh, I just want to mention, they have TV's set up so if you're by yourself you can watch TV while you eat

Excellent quality and generous quantity of fresh food. Gracious and attentive service and comfortable atmosphere. Worth every penny. Good soups and tartar sauce.

Great food! You order and pay at the counter, then they bring your food to your table. I bought 2 appetizers and 4 entrees + drinks for myself, my wife, and my parents. Came to about $90. That’s pretty affordable for a huge meal for four people. Simple, fast, affordable, and delicious. But best of all… They don’t ask you to tip on the little tablet. That’s a major gripe I have with many places nowadays. I even got asked to tip at a grocery store recently… So I give major props to Sea Island Shrimp House for being an honest business with customers.

Ordered online and picked up using curbside. Lemon pepper fish and grill shrimp wanted my shrimp cooked a minute longer and let me say my food was excellent.. well seasoned, hot and portioned perfectly. My wife and I are Keto eaters and were happy to see the broiled lemon pepper fish could be had without any breading. It was incredibly flavorful as well as the shrimp. Nice casual atmosphere where you order at the counter and then they bring the food out to you. Incredible value for what you're getting. They had a great unsweetened mango iced tea as well if you're looking for something more unique then Coca-cola products. We're going back for sure!

The beef kabob with grilled shrimp was tender and delicious, and the flounder sandwich was one of the best I’ve ever had—crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and not fishy at all. This is the only place I’ve found that serves fish without that strong fishy taste, and it makes all the difference. We did run into a small hiccup with our order, but one of the managers (possibly Lonnie K, listed on our receipt and in picture) went above and beyond to fix it. He showed true professionalism and care, which really stood out and made the experience even better. KUDOS to him for the excellent customer service! Overall, highly recommend this spot. Great food, great service, and they really take care of their guests. Five stars all the way!

I’ve been eating at Sea Island for years and It’s never been disappointing. My favorite plate is the Lemon Pepper fish w/grilled shrimp or their regular fried fish combo. I should have stuck to that choice. This past time I tried their “Blackened Catfish”. Yuk, it was nothing like “Blackened Catfish”. It looked more grilled and & broken. It had no spicy taste. It was completely greasy and not eatable even after I used napkins to dry off grease. You can see the napkins full of grease and there was still plenty more on the catfish and plate. Thank goodness the sides were yummy. I had their coleslaw and spinach which are the best in my opinion. I think I’ll stick to my usual.

What a great seafood spot here in the hill country. We had the Aransas Platter and the Grilled Shrimp Platter. The grilled shrimp was amazing, and the fried shrimp was decent. The fries and hush puppies were cooked well just no seasoning. All in all, I will be back, loved it.

We are not from the area but drove up for a surprise party lunch. I am not a huge seafood person but had the fried fish, my son had the fried catfish. My fish was crispy and great. I tried a bit of the catfish and it was crisp and a little spicy, making it just perfect. Hush puppies were good, okra was good fries were ok. This place is a walk in and order at the front, but service was quick and attentive.

The food was hot when it was served, had good portion sizes, and was really tasty. We enjoyed our lunch and even had a little extra to bring home for later. Sea Island is not a fancy seafood place, but more than just a fast food place. It has a convenient location too, right behind Buccees and across the street from a shopping center.

Pretty interesting place. The decor was great. It sits behind the Buc-ces there. Staff was pretty friendly. Glad the manager walks by to see if everything is ok. I ordered fries only and hot tea. No one knew where the tea was, but after about ten minutes, a tea bag was found and I received my tea. I didn't finish it because it didn't taste good. My daughter ordered a shrimp boil and loved it. The prices are reasonable there also.

Got a little of our seafood fix today. Dinner was better today than it was yesterday lol! Oysters were oysters, the broil was decent. Flavor wasn't all there, but wasn't bad. Good experience tonight. I can say the gumbo here was better than the gumbo I had yesterday.

Good food delivered extremely fast. The fried shrimp was very good, the grilled shrimp, even better. The French Fries were nicely spiced, and the creamy cole slaw was delicious. And a really good value.

I was at the sink by this time so told him to come on in. We chatted about the holiday weekend. I remember when the taco plate had three tacos, some hush puppies, and slaw. Now it is sad with very little food. The monster fish sandwich was big enough to share. The changes to this location has removed it from my list as the experience was disconcerting although the fish sandwich was still good. Maybe I'll check out the one in SA-hopefully it's a bit more welcoming.

Ordered fried fish fillets, they were ok. Ceviche , not really same as what is served at other places and it was tastes less.. didn’t like the fact that servers leave only one napkin with a fork and one have to go get more napkins from the kitchen..

The items we ordered were prepared very well. I believe it's the atmosphere of the place that throws off a nice dinner.

Good seafood restaurant right off of I35 next to Buc-ee's. We have seen this place at many a gas stop at Buc-ee's and decided to stop in as we were passing by around dinner time. Nice, clean place with friendly staff. Shrimp was tasty, okra and fries were crisp and just right. Check this place out for yourswlf if you're in the area and need a bite.

We stopped by on our way out of town was ok. first we thought it was a sit down with a waitress, this is more fast food, order at a counter and someone brings your food, you get own refills. we decided to give it a try on a Sunday about 1pm it was busy. The menu inside isnt the same as online menu, example the board inside just says lot of shrimp, however online it showed a dozen shrimp, we COULD have asked questions, however when it was our turn we had maybe 20ish people behind us. food - was ok, my my piece of catfish was literally broken into like 5 pieces, maybe you guys cut into it to see if it was cooked? it was very very fishy tasting.. sides - the southern greenbeans, again inside didnt give a description like website has, it was a weird nasty tasting stewed green beans.. sadly we dont live near the place, so we cant come back, but was disappointed in food

This place was kind of like a glamorized Long John Silvers (sorry LJS). Beautiful place but the food was wanting. I had the fish sandwich (MacDonalds double-fish is better in my opinion) and my wife had the fried shrimp (good but nothing special). I'm thankful they had draught beer and wine. There are no servers/waitresses so you're on your own. Maybe someone's cup of tea but probably not for me. Sorry.

I had the grilled shrimp with diablo spice lunch plate. It comes with 2 sides, and I chose green beans and corn on the cob. You, also, get 2 hush puppies. The diablo spice was pleasant and not very spicy at all. Food came quickly.

It's just ok. The seafood here tastes low quality or mediocre. I probably won't be back.

Went for a birthday promo, not what it was a year ago. Coleslaw was dry, hushpuppies were cold and hard, and chicken "strips" looked like nuggets. Told the staff about the cold hushpuppies and they offered to microwave them, making them harder than they were before. Bad, unpleasant experience. Now I understand the bad reviews.

Just finished dining at the New Braunfels location less than 30 minutes ago. First time eating here and was let down after having to walk around the restaurant several times to find a clean (wiped down) table for four people. The bust boy did a good job of removing items from the tables however for the entire hour we were there we never saw any of the tables sanitized or at a minimum wiped off. While there we observed a patron who used a bottle of ketchup and immediately licked with his tongue the inner lid to remove the excess ketchup after using. We made it a point to report this incident to the staff to prevent contamination or spread any potential biological pathogens. The food was over seasoned and not very tasty. The beef kabob came out cool. The taste of the food was the least of our concern. However the staff was very cordial and friendly. Sadly we will not visit this restaurant again for dining.

We were very unimpressed with the food. We ordered a $40 seafood boil that came completely dry. The shrimp and mussels were overcooked. It tasted like everything was boiled in unsalted water and then had some dry seasoning on top. We had to go up to ask for any kind of sauce for the boil, they provided a small cup of butter. The rice was very dry but the flavor was alright. The corn was unsalted and unbuttered. The fried fish was decent. Will not be returning.
