This our go-to neighborhood cafe! The staff is so cheerful and welcoming. The coffee and food is consistently delicious (you HAVE to try their grilled cheese and tomato soup with a cappuccino 😍). And if you just love a warm, toasty, queer-friendly vibe, this is the place to work and hang out.

Chipped cup is the perfect, cozy neighborhood cafe. It’s always inviting and the baristas are some of the best! If you stop by, definitely recommend the lavender latte. All of their lunch options are totally delicious as well. The inside will fill up quickly, especially on the weekend, but the outside area has tons of seating options and is lovely in the Spring/Summer!

Their coffee is high quality and delicious. Plenty of seating inside and out back. They have the cutest courtyard. WiFi is fast. I haven't had all of their food options, but their muffins and turnovers are always good. It's a nice vibe for working and hanging out. Good music and decor too.

I've been going to The Chipped Cup for 10 years now. It's the coziest spot in the city and the staff is undeniably friendly. The food and drinks are all made with love and care, and naturally tasty. Their avocado toast is splendid, and their chai latte is a real treat. I just love how they pay attention to the details, from the presentation of the food to the ambiance of the place. It's truly a gem!

They also use their space for music events, readings, drag shows, etc. It gets a bit crowded, but that's normal for a place with a vibe this good.

Always wanted to go and finally made it just to realize that they have a huge backyard so don’t be mislead by the tiny store front! Coffee was great and also had an amazing vegan muffin! This is a really lovely cafe with kind employees. The back garden is a nice space to sit and read and work while indoor dining is still closed. The prices seemed a little high but it was delicious and still a great place to spend time.

Great coffee, cinnamon buns and garden area out back. The front area is always filled with laptops so unless you arrive before 9 your chances of getting a table are slim. Dear Chipped Cup, please encourage solo coffee drinkers to sit with other solo coffee drinkers so that all of those poor empty chairs can be filled and couple coffee drinkers can sit with each other.

We’ve been here multiple times and had great experiences every time. Indoor seating is usually packed by the time 10 AM rolls around, but they have a cute backyard patio with lots of seating. A queer haven serving delicious coffee and baked goods (and their toasts are good too!). Highly recommend the avocado toast, Nutella toast, and lemon loaf. Pretty typical prices for a small coffee shop.

Honestly probably the best coffee shops around. The crew are all fantastic and they make an absolutely lovely beverage. They’re always friendly and maintain a positive vibe. Their baked goods are delish. The atmosphere is comfy and there are plugs on the wall if one needs to do some lite work.

I moved around the corner two years ago and this coffee shop is one of my favorite things about living here. Workers are always really nice, I love working or reading here and this is always where I meet friends because it’s chill and adorable and the area in the back is so sweet and lovely.

I highly recommend the Harvest Latte with oat milk and the Avocado Toast. The harvest latte has such delicious comforting flavors and the Avocado toast is so fresh and very filling! They were out of tomatoes, but it still tasted amazing. I especially love the bread and the crispy crust. The staff is absolutely the best here, as well. They are so sweet and very skilled at what they do. The ambience is very cozy and inviting and the outdoor garden patio is just lovely during good weather. I got here at 2pm on a Saturday when it wasn't so busy and found a seat on the garden patio. Go to the Chipped Cup! You'll love it.

I come here once a week before my Capoeira Angola class. I usually get a black coffee and a small pastry. Every week a the coffee flavor changes a bit but it’s always good. It’s a cozy spot, good for reading and the back patio it’s nice too. I’m glad they ask for proof of vaccine if you want to dine in. The baristas have always being nice. I really appreciate ir when they greet people with a”good morning”

I was first struck by the atmosphere during March: a chill spot to get work done on my laptop while I got a tea, a coffee… a cookie… a savory scone… and each item I got left me satisfied by its quality, particularly the chocolate chip cookies (gluten free!) and the iced lemon loaf. But everything changed once I tried the sausage breakfast sandwich. (I always ask to add avocado, sriracha, and onion to mine. There are other options, too!) After this sandwich, Chipped Cup really won me over. Their back outdoor space is spacious, green, and offers some unique seating the further back you go. Service is mostly cheery. Very accepting. Never had an issue with anyone on staff. Thanks, Chipped Cup! ☺️

I’m a big fan of this place. I return to Harlem twice a year and I always come here to work from from my laptop. Very friendly staff. My boyfriend wasn’t happy with his latte so the staff made great alternative drink suggestions and he had a delicious cortado instead! The back patio is dog friendly and super pretty. A great hidden spot!

This place RADIATES coziness and joy! My partner and I decided to try it out today after walking by several times and never going in. Coffee was great, food was delicious, and the staff was so kind! The vibe was very warm and we loved all the decorations. I ended up buying two stickers because I just liked it so much. As if this wasn’t lovely enough, we then discovered the garden outside. It was so beautiful. If it wasn’t a bajillion degrees outside, I could have sat and read there for hours. My only gripe is that the wifi was a little slow at times, but that certainly didn’t take away from the experience at all.

The Chipped Cup has that secret speakeasy vibe, which I love. The inside is much bigger than expected. It had that old, antique look with warm lights and exposed brick walls. They had some baked goods in the showcase, and they offer other dishes such as sandwiches, burrito, toasts, etc. What makes The Chipped Cup extra special is their back patio. It is so peaceful and beautiful! For extra peaceful vibe, go there early before everyone else arrives. We have been to The Chipped Cup a few times, and we had tried a few different drinks and food. I love Liège Waffle, and they make a great one here. It was soft and doughy, rich and had the perfect chewy texture. Lemon Loaf here is gluten free. It was moist and delightful! The Coconut Latte was delicious. Sweet but not overly sweet, with the subtle aroma and flavor coconut. Bagel & Lox came with ample amount of lox, super fresh and delicious. Bagels was not the easiest to cut and eat (in my opinion) even with the knife and fork, but it was very tasty. Loved the addition of the tomatoes in here. They also offer gluten free bread available, and vegan cream cheese options too. The staffs here were friendly and polite. The back patio space was so peaceful and relaxing. About the time we were done, more people arrived at the patio, and even more people in the inside space. We were happy to have our quiet, tranquil time before the morning rush.

This place is a GEM! I'll start off by saying the coffee was amazing, strong but smooth. I'll definitely be back for that alone. The back patio has a summertime vibe with lots of tables that wrap around the back of the building. The staff said that in the evening time that back patio is shared with the bar next door (Honey Well). They have swing chairs, steps, big tables, you name it! Inside has a bunch of tables conducive to working on your laptop, which lots of people were doing. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend.

This was my first time in my neighborhood little, cute cafe. I came a Sunday at 2 pm and it was packed. The coffee was very good, and served in a china cup. Unfortunately, there were not much pastry left 🙁 The ambience was chilled out and full of young customers and some with laptops. The place has a patio where you can seat but due to the cold I preferred to stay inside. The two girls on the counter were very nice 🙂 so my experience in this place was good. This little coffee shop is too cute. They have ample indoor as well as outdoor patio seating and it is a clearly a very popular place because every single seat and table was taken when we went in! To get into the coffee shop, you have to walk down a short flight of stairs, and then you enter. It feels very unassuming. We wanted a white mocha, but they ran out of white chocolate, So instead we got a vanilla and cinnamon iced coffee drink that was super tasty and addictive. I would love it if this were my own neighborhood’s local coffee shop because the coffee here is top notch and the service seems pretty friendly.

It was an amazing experience, the atmosphere was cozy and the staff very friendly, the capuchino was very tasteful and very strong just the way I like it. I went there for the first time today. First impression was that it's super cute and cozy. The weather was great so I selected an outdoor seat. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was an outlet there. Lots of great outdoor and indoor seating. Took off a star because drinks are super pricey. They charged me $8 after tax for a small flavored latte!

Cozy underground cafe with good vibes and a nice atmosphere. They've got a good amount of tables and wifi and attract the student/laptop working crowd. Great spot to work for a bit. Only downside was the oat milk cortado was horrible. I don't think the person making it knew how to deal with the oat milk. it was completely separated from the espresso shot, curdled and weird. I've had a ton of oat milk cortados and that's definitely not normal. Anyway I'd go back and try an iced tea or coffee but not an espresso drink from here. I love the space otherwise and the people were super nice!

This place is great spot for grabbing a coffee or any espresso drink. The staff is very attentive and the barista knows how to brew delicious coffee, also they make some latte art on cappuccinos. I would recommend asking the staff about the fresh pastries.

This is a cute coffee shop with great pastries. The coffee is good but one time I had a latte that taste like burnt coffee. Its definitely overpriced. But I love the patio. I’ve been here several times to do some work and the wifi sucks, its either not working or a weak signal.

This is one of the only cafes on the west side of Harlem and I think that the convenient location makes this place popular however the drinks are definitely pricey. $8 for a latter is criminal but I think it’s quality coffee and matcha. MY BIGGEST issue with this spot is the horrible WiFi connection. Like come on; people come to cafes to work and buy overpriced drinks but I feel slighted when I complain about the wifi connection and ask people around me who’s having the same issue. Invest in good wifi because then I’d come here everyday but unless I need a coffe on the go I can’t rely on this spot to get work done and that’s disappointing.

👍Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful garden in the back, the iced white moca, nice variety of coffee and non coffee items, and your choice of indoor or outdoor seating. 👎Cons: Although there was a small "food" menu, the dessert window at the counter was lackluster showcasing 3 small brownies so not many sweet options to accompany my white moca.

Spend your money at establishments who respect the political differences of people they don’t agree with. Having a coffee by the name of Liberal Snowflake was a red flag and decided to find somewhere who wouldn’t be condescending to the struggles of African Americans. Sojourner Coffee is a great alternative.

While I would love to give this cafe 5 stars, I felt that the baristas were extremely catty and gave off an unpleasant vibe that made the dining experience not worth the trip. Even sitting out back, the outdoor area is infested with ants. I left with several bug bites.

Twice now this same thing has happened: I've had this same cashier make me wait because she was busy, that would be understandable but she's seen me waiting in line too but just kept chatting with the customer she's with as if I weren't there. She's also dropped everything to help the next person after me. Maybe it's a coincidence that those next people happened to be white people. Maybe it's personal but I don't know this person and she doesn't know me expect what ethnicity I might or might not be and anything she may perceive or imagine from my outward appearance. Once more and it's a pattern. This is an otherwise beautiful little place, it has a nice patio and the other cashiers are nice to everyone. I'm sitting right in front of her (literally there's a table in front of the register) and she knows that I wanted something but doesn't even look over to acknowledge me which she would have to do if she looked up or went to the register. She has had enough time by now to check out her phone and chat with co workers. And of course she's gone back to the register when more customers come in. Yes, they are white. I just wanted a coffee on a Saturday afternoon. Going to Semicolon further up or Five Flies.

the staff were kind but the vibe of the cafe itself felt straight out of the upper east side... did not feel like harlem at all. would not recommend to other poc. edit: response to owner's reply - when your entire customer base is just white people, when your few poc customers just get stared at the whole time, while you're smack in the middle of 149th street, maybe just maybe something is wrong. maybe utilize that shock you're experiencing to reflect on what went wrong and how you can better engage with the community.
