Best chicken shawarma in the city, hands down. Veggies are fresh, spice and salt are both perfect, chicken is cut fresh from the spit. Highly recommend!!

Wow so happy this opened on the UWS! What a delicious, quick, healthy and affordable meal! The falafel are so crispy and the eggplant is unreal. We needed this in this neighborhood! A must visit!

I've had falafel pita sandwiches in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beirut, Dubai, etc. And this was by far the best falafel sandwich I've ever had in my life. Blown away. Falafel was crunchy on the outside, moist and soft inside. Amazing flavors, fresh ingredients. I can't even.

The food was delicious! I ate the shawarma. The place is clean & the people are very nice!! I will definitely go back there again 👍🏾😜

Super friendly and helpful service. Had the falafel laffa, sabich laffa and fries. All of it was delicious and very fresh! Can't wait to explore the rest of the menu.

A welcome new addition to the neighborhood; reasonably priced. No seating, take out only. My falafel sandwich was crafted with care. They are brand new so be patient while they iron things out. Small menu: Chicken Shawarma, falafel, or sabich all either in pita or platter - and they have all the fixings you'd expect to see at a falafel stand in Tel Aviv, from schug and amba to fried eggplant to pickles and cabbage. Oh and of course, it is kosher. Drinks in the cooler (coke, water).

The food was excellent. Yemenite chicken soup and the ribeye steak are a must have. The staff are always attentive and super helpful. Will definitely recommend

I was having a really bad day, and the staff Daniel and osman they made me happy a little. I never write reviews but after coming here I have to say this place is the best! The food is great and the staff is amazing !

Wow! Wow! Wow! Born and raised in Tel Aviv I thought I had tasted the best shwarma life has to offer but Shwarma Shabazi has beat them all. The perfectly balanced spices on the shwarma, served hot alongside the creamiest chummus! Their schug is flavorful and if you like spicy should not be skipped! And lastly, Daniel was exceptionally nice and spoke to us about his passion in bringing shwarma to NYC. He even sang to us Yemenite blues when he was pressed enough , and he was fantastic! Cannot recommend this place enough - perfect balance of traditional family business and modernity in presentation

My go-to place on the upper west for great, affordbale vegetarian food.

It is the best shawarma on upper West side.

Delicious Mediterranean food. I got the falafel and sabich platter. Both were amazing and full of flavor with many dips and salads that accompanied it. The falafel was also fluffy and flavorful. The pita was soft and fresh.

J

The shwarma and falafel here are awesome, really delicious. Also, these guys are the best. They pay careful attention to get your order just right. And they include my favorite sides (hummus, pickles, fried eggplant, french fries, and tehina) And earlier tonight, I just walked out with my order, listening to music, and one of the workers chased me a block up Amsterdam to give me the s'chug (hot sauce) I had forgotten to take. Amazing addition to the neighborhood! 😋

Stopped by looking for late night snack. I've never had shawarma before, so I asked young man behind counter to put my pita together however he would recommend. Dolev did not disappoint. Delicious food, delightful service. Do yourself a favor and grab yourself a bite to eat at Shawarma Shabazi.

Amazing and incredible food. Also, the two guys who are in there are so kind and fun. Give them all the praise! Shoutout to Algeria and Sudan 😁

Truly the best shawarma I have been able to find in Manhattan, and I've been searching all over for good shawarma. The lavash size seems crazy expensive until you see it, it is truly huge. I'm eagerly waiting until I can come back. Also the sabich was awesome, very heavy but awesome.

N
Nate

This is no joke some of the best shawarma I've ever had. It's a little pricey but after I took the first bite I knew why. I would rate this Shawarma 9/10 and I'm usually pretty critical of shawarma because it's one of my favorite dishes.

S

Completely lowkey and unpretentious kosher food. Very welcome given the typical Manhattan Kosher food scene. Owner and employees were friendly and the shwarma in a laffa I had was great! They also carry "Spring" which is awesome and hard to find. All around great place to stop for a quick authentic bite to eat.

I LOVE Shawarma Shabazi, this is the closest to Israeli food I've found in NYC after looking all over. The food is fantastic, fresh, and with generous portions. The customer service is very kind, I look forward to going back and highly recommend Shawarma Shabazi!

This place is the absolute best. All the other restaurants are closed, except for this place, all can never get so good. I came here at 11:50 PM after a sauna and was starving. Shakib and Efraim absolutely took care of me - massive portions of shawarma and incrediblely delicious platters. You won’t find this anywhere else. Go and bless yourselves by eating a meal here.

This was a much needed 2am food pit stop after a late night out. My friends and I loved the atmosphere and shawarma. So much so that I came back for lunch to try the falafel. Overall fantastic atmosphere and solid food. The tahini was a little watery for my taste, but they had fast service, open community outdoor tables, Israeli music, and green falafel. Effie saw I was new and was very kind to stop by to chat and offered me a Prigat juice. That taste is distinctively Israeli and such a callback to childhood. I’ll definitely be back!

If you have not tried this mouthwatering lafa Shawarma, you have not lived!! Your mouth has not danced and your tummy is not completely full. This is just about the most delicious hidden treasure in New York City! One serving is enough for two if not, three or four… Service is with a smile and authentic . Atmosphere is that of a takeout they play great music while you wait… The food is exceptional creative fresh in abundance no skimping. I think I dream about it afterwards… It’s a must.sabich is also mouthwatering!! I will take a platter of that to go and serve it to my guest as an appetizer… Saves me lots of time and they can’t get enough of it, especially with the freshly made pita!!! Yummmm sooo good!!!

We stumbled upon this Israeli gem while wandering around the upper west side. The Sabich on laffa was amazing and the portions were so generous! The counter staff was courteous and accommodating. We’ll come back to this place every time we visit New York!!!

S
Steve Karas (Steve)

Great falafel for sure! None only fresh but they let you pick what ever vegetables you want. This is so special because I am often picky and their choices are delicious! I seriously go once a week minimum, for 12$ I don t think you can beat the taste, nutrition and pleasure I get from their sandwich. Also they work fast so if you are in a rush, it’s a great place to go!

S

This was the best Chicken Shawarma we have ever had anywhere is the world! Better than I’ve had in Israel or Turkey. So flavorful. Often shawarma has no caramelization but not here, besides the smell I knew from looking at the chicken being cut of the vertical spit it would be good. It was too cold to eat outside (there’s no inside tables) so sat in our car a couple of blocks away. When we come back to our car 11 hours later the car still smelled like our lunch. I wanted it again. The Yemenite Chicken Soup was the best chicken soup we have ever eaten. I need to find this recipe! There’s a potato and drumstick in the soup. Usually fall off the bone chicken in soup is tasteless not this.

This place has amazing food and customer service. The other day I stopped by just to get their red and green harissa sauce (which are outstanding) and they refused to take payment. Today I ordered chicken shawarma, which I accidentally dropped once I already left the place and they insisted on getting me an entire new plate for free, even though it was 100% my fault. The nicest people and the delicious food keeps us coming back!

Went here last night on stop along my mission to try all Israeli restaurants in the city and it was outstanding. Ordered a shawarma pita with fries and the portions seemed super generous for the price. The Tahina was delicious and their Amba sauce was absolutely delicious. Great textures from the fresh ingredients and great flavors Absolutely delicious food in a welcoming family environment. The staff working were super friendly and kind, very knowledgeable and eager to help you make a choice. 10/10 will come again and will recommend. Be aware if it is raining you’ll want to plan for take out but on a sunny day I’d imagine their outdoor seating would be a very charming neighborhood experience.

This is a small gem on the upper west. DEFINITELY worth a visit...& more. The staff is extremely kind (& quick). The prices are reasonable. The portions are surprisingly large, & the quality is above & beyond fresh & tasty. Order ahead & you'll be enjoying the truly delicious tastes of middle-eastern cuisine in no time... HIGHLY RECOMMEND 👍👍👍

The chicken shawarma makes the Israeli side of me jump for joy. The falafel is very good too, but not quite as good as at Tamam in the UES. But in any event this is one of the few best shawarma/falafel joints in manhattan. Yum.

P
Paula Maouyo

I’ve been here 3 times in 4 days. So far I’ve only had the eggplant sabich, it’s that good. Everything is flavorful, the toppings too. The people are friendly. I’m glad to be a budding regular. Tbh I think it’s the best quality food (delicious, nutritious, fresh) for the price for about 20 blocks in either direction. And after living in the area the last ten years, I’ve tried pretty much everything.

Shawarma Shabazi is the best shawarma I ate in Manhattan. My boyfriend had a falafel and he also enjoyed it very much. A great new addition to the Upper West side fast food establishments. Service was very friendly. We will definitely return and try the sabich and the shawarma of course.

I visited New York for 6 days from the state of Texas and ended up having two meals at this location because the food was just that good. I'm not the type to generally leave reviews but I had the yemenite chicken soup from here and must say it's the best soup I've ever had, by a long shot. Literally months later and I still frequently think about the soup. It definitely left quite an impression on me. I HIGHLY recommend! Wow! Definitely some of the best shawarma I’ve eaten outside of Israel. It’s always appreciated to walk in a store and immediately feel at home, Hebrew from the first step through the door, feels like a little shawarmiah in Israel. And wow, the flavor! Fresh, juicy, soft laffah,

Excellent all around!! The owner Effy has a gem here…great food, generous portions and very reasonable prices…he told his employees to take good care of me after we had an interesting conversation and boy did they!! Their felafel platter was excellent with tons of great extras like hummus, fried eggplant, cabbage, Israeli salad & more!! His employees treated me wonderfully and I’d definitely go back…I do owe effy an apology after he asked me to post a pic, I was so busy stuffing my face I forgot…but I promise next time, but trust me…his food is amazing, just go and enjoy!!!

I ordered the sabich platter with everything.Such amazing flavors! There was definitely enough food in the platter.to make two sandwiches! Everything was very fresh and flavorful. My only gripe is that the amba sauce that I received on the side were not properly closed so there was quite a mess in the bag...but it didn't affect the food..just a tiny inconvenience. Staff was very friendly..and efficient. It's a small place with a few outdoor table. But Central Park is about 4-5 blocks away .you most certainly could take your food to go for a nice picnic.

Portions are huge. You are gonna be full after eat this for sure. Free unlimited toppings is great. But I don’t recommend to choose all the toppings if you are gonna get laffa. Because laffa would be huge and it’ll be really hard to eat :D Dine in option is limited. Especially in winter. They direct us to the restaurant near them. But there was no service in there. We just sit by the other Shabazi customers. They were calling us to sit there because restaurant doesnt allow them to sit anywhere else. But it’s great for to take out.

Shawarma Shabazi captures the true essence of Israel right in the heart of the city. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels like stepping into a Tel Aviv street corner — the energy, the aromas, and the friendly banter behind the counter all add to its authentic Israeli vibe. The music, the décor, and even the pacing of service bring a genuine sense of home-style Middle Eastern hospitality that’s hard to find elsewhere. The food itself is outstanding. The shawarma is tender, perfectly seasoned, and sliced fresh off the spit, just like in the markets of Jerusalem or Haifa. Every ingredient tastes vibrant and thoughtfully chosen — from the crisp vegetables to the freshly made hummus and creamy tahini. Their Lafa is a standout: soft, warm, and fluffy with that slight char that makes it irresistible. It wraps everything together beautifully, creating the perfect handheld meal that’s both filling and flavorful. To elevate the experience even further, pair your Lafa shawarma with a cold Malka beer. Its smooth, slightly fruity notes balance the savory spices perfectly, making it the ideal companion to this Israeli feast. Shawarma Shabazi isn’t just a meal — it’s a taste of Israel done right.

Food here is unbelievable. Get the chicken shawarma laffa (huge burrito) and/or plate (two whole tupperwares of food). Amazing value, probably 60% more food than chipotle. Also more expensive tho but not crazy. Not really anywhere to sit unless it’s nice outside. Really hits.

We ordered two laffas two drinks and fries roughly $30 each person! The meat and all the toppings were very very good . meat had so much flavor. fast service! The only thing i didn’t like was the laffa, think it was lacking a little bit of flavor and needs to be perfected. Next time i would try the pita!! Very inexpensive, comparable to prices in israel. KOSHER! highly recommend

Nestled in the heart of New York City at 668 Amsterdam Avenue, Shawarma Shabazi offers a delightful culinary journey to the streets of Tel Aviv. The star of the menu is undoubtedly their shawarma, which is both flavorful and tender, capturing the essence of Israeli street food. Complementing the shawarma, I had the falafel balls, which were scrumptious! This is a must visit!

Good food. Nothing incredible. Kind of a loss that they don't have a beef or chicken shawarma. People are super nice. Each sandwich is 20 bucks which, while the servings are large, definitely felt expensive. Restaurant next door let's you sit inside and eat if they are not busy (same owners I guess) which is a convenient touch.

Walked in for a quick take-out lunch and there was only one person at the counter doing everything. So if you are in a hurry and if there is a line, best to try some other place! But, if you do have the patience to wait, then you are about to experience some pretty amazing food. If you are a vegetarian, you are in luck - their prices are competitive as compared to a $19.50 Chicken Pita or $22.50 for Laffa or $25.50 for a plate. I opted for the Laffa option and it was big enough me to enjoy that meal for lunch and dinner. With an impressive selection of unlimited toppings, a flavorful falafel and hummus, this place will be my goto place when I am craving a good Falafel plate or Pita.

ramata doray

I chose a chicken shawarma on a pita, and at first, the pita looked small, like it was going to be tiny. But don’t be fooled. Once they start adding all the toppings, it turns into a huge, filling wrap. You can add hummus, cucumber salad, grilled onions, cabbage, tomatoes, tahini so many options. It was delicious, and I’d rate this shawarma an 8.4. The video looks messy, because the tahini and the hummus were dripping I took it to go.

Big portions, mid taste

K

Mediocre tasting and an outlier in terms of price. Totals $20 for a small chicken shawarma sandwich. I understand restaurants have low margins but there are places that are cheaper and better tasting close by.

E
Elan Kugelmass

I wish this place "transported" me to Tel Aviv. It's a sad imitation that makes me regret being in NY. Falafel platters with 6 bad small balls of falafel, sabich with a few strips of eggplant, and salads with hardly any flavor at all. All this at twice the price of mamoun's down the street or Tel Aviv. There's nowhere to sit (even if you get a plate of food) and no ambiance to speak of. At least the pita is fluffy. I brought my Israeli friend here and he was so offended that he said it was a disgrace to Israel.

M
Matan A

Food was great (initially). Experience not so much. Initially offered seating in sister restaurant next door, but was rejected once received food. After spending 100$+ on food for three people, was made to sit outside in the cold. Made to feel like our money wasn't good enough, and that there were two classes of customers.

Max Dunlap

The most mediocre $24 chicken schwarma I've ever had. Why doesn't it have any flavor? Why doesn't it stay together? And why is it $24?? The lady who took my order didnt really say anything it was kind of weird.

K
Ken

Very bland, unseasoned chicken... I don’t know where the 5 stars are coming from, but for $20 I expected something better. People do not know what good food is who come here.

Y
Yosvany Blanco Otano

The food was disappointing, especially considering the price. I'm baffled by the high reviews. This was one of the worst shawarma plates I've ever had. The rice was mushy, the pickles lacked flavor, the hummus tasted off, and the shawarma was tasteless with an unpleasant texture.

R
Reuven Sytner

The kosher for passover schnitzel with gluten free baguette cost over $30 and was barely the size of my fist. Conveniently, there is no photo on uber eats. Super upsetting to spend that much on a single portion to begin with, but the portion size makes it an outright scam

S

I spend $38 for a plate of chicken shawarma through Uber eats. On their website it was $26. Yeah, Uber takes a lot of commission, but that's not what I'm here for. I'm here to tell you that they do not put utensils (forks/spoon/knife) unless you have specifically requested through Uber app. Are you kidding me? I don't know if I requested them or not, in fact I don't even remember if there was an option to order one, but this is a basic courtesy. There was no napkin either. It was a mess. Meh!!! Oh by the way, the food was cold, bland, and not worth it. I have no idea where the five stars are coming from.

Insanely expensive and mediocre. 29$ for sandwich and water is criminal. The seating area seemed dirty from the day before

Very rude & poor customer service. This is one place I wouldn't recommend or ever come/order takeout ever again. Dreadful

Vile, dirty, unsanitary. We even saw a rat outside the door. Expensive for garbage food. Food sits in an unclean display case with flies. Maybe the religious have no other place to eat, but for everyone else, just run. Grade F.

Food arrive cold. All wet. Salads are all mixed together sitting in lots of fluids. Could not eat that.
