Cute little shop with coffee, 4 tables, wifi, kind staff. Great place to read / get some work done. High quality coffee! The speciality lattes are just syrups. I got bourbon vanilla and it didn’t add too much of a punch. I could have just gone with the regular coffee and been happy. Really great ambience. Good spot.
It’s so nice to finally have a coffee shop in the neighborhood other than big corporations! Prices are reasonable and staff are extremely welcoming. Cute little dining area, perfect workspace with wifi and pastries! Electronics out of battery? Fortunately, there are outlets under the seats (:
Cozy cafe with a number of seats for working and reading. Love the vibe and coffee! I tried oat latte and coconut pastry and they were great. Would def come back.
I live in Williamsburg, but can’t resist coming to UWS for Fillup Coffee’s BOURBON VANILLA LATTE. 🤤🤤🤤 It’s the perfect mix anytime time of the day. Owner’s very accommodating too!
Writing this after I had my second cup of Oat Flat white from this place. The joy I had was exactly the same as I had on my first time. Really good coffee base, rich flat white experience. Do visit!
Small but cozy shop for quick coffee n croissant. Great guy n helpful. I loved the i had just plain butter croissant n i felt am in france. So fresh n smooth. Enjoy urself
Nice, quiet and cozy place with just 5 working seats for digital nomads 😁 2 beautiful sitting in front of the window, 3 on a bench with 3 tables. Each table has also a chair, so technically place can fit up to 8 people.
I come here almost everyday and it’s always been a pleasure being there! Xoxo, Chanel.
I don't know how this place has not been exploded in popularity... Best coffee EVER! Always fresh treats and awesome staff! Thank you guys, you Rock!
Good coffee and good design in a cozy space with a few tables. It's great to have a really good cafe to work in in this part of the neighborhood, which doesn't have many. Patronize this place and keep the open for the public good! The Thai iced coffee is great and they have a lot of interesting-looking items to try (Spanish latte, Nola-style coffee, etc.). Highly recommend.
This was an excellent little shop. Stayed at a nearby hotel for three days, and went here at least once daily because it was so good. Creative menu, clean space, well executed beverages. I was with a friend and we both manage different specialty coffee shops in Boston, and we were both impressed with the full flavor of drinks, the very knowledgeable barista that made our drinks and answered many questions, and even gave us a couple stickers! I would absolutely return here, and recommend it to anyone looking for a yummy coffee treat!!
Quaint coffee shop with great coffee and nice staff. Even just the brewed coffee actually tastes good. There is only one employee when I visited on a semi-busy Saturday morning but she kept the line moving like a boss, while being nice and friendly. They have nice looking pastries and taco bowls. And a $1 financier. Surprising to see anything $1 in this neighborhood. Definitely visit if you want coffee.
I wish I could give 10 stars!! This place is amazing! The staff is super friendly, they have a lot of original and fun drinks and all the drinks are unique and delicious! They have 2 plant-based milk options available, I would love to have coconut milk or soy milk as an option too. The toasted cinnamon latte is my favorite so far, but I also enjoyed the Hojicha latte and the lemon latte. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and I will be back as many times as I can! They now also have a stamp card, which I really like! Fillup Coffee is great!!
This is the best coffee shop in the neighborhood, hands down! They have a large menu with lots of unique drinks, and the Nola cold brew is the best one I've ever had. Everyone who works here is super friendly and the environment is sleek but comfortable. Don't go to the chain coffee shops, go here instead!
This charming coffee shop serves excellent coffee with friendly staff. Despite having just one employee on a semi-busy Saturday morning, the service was efficient and welcoming. They offer delicious pastries, taco bowls, and even a $1 financier, which is a rare find in the neighborhood. If you're in need of a good cup of coffee, this place is a must-visit.
great coffee, special flavors and best bang for the buck
A cute, cozy spot with some famous patrons as regulars. The food is fresh and fairly priced, and the staff are lovely. We will be back, for sure!
A really nice and cozy place, the food was delicious, the dessert was great, and the coffee was amazing. Everything was delicious. And the service was excellent.
This is a hidden gem. Probably the current rating is old. Definitely you need to give it a second chance. Salmon scrambled eggs were delicious.
I really loved my visit here! They are super lovely staff and delicious food, plus a beautiful vibe inside. Everything is so detailed, even up to the shape of the ceiling. It’s a perfect homage. I read some other reviews about the owner and computers but we had a good experience and both brought our computers out! Stayed here for 2.5 hours. Maybe it was okay cause we also both ordered a meal and the restaurant was quiet, but overall no issues at all.
A lovely hidden gem of UWS! Very cozy place to sit and enjoy delicious salads and cakes. The place is run by the older Italian gentleman called Benny! He has been there since the beginning 1988. And the theme of Edgar Allan Poe and his work. P.S. this is Zingara salad the most delicious salad i ever tried 😋
A hidden neighborhood gem serving up the UWS since 1988! The perfect cozy spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Endless salad options and sandwich choices you’ll absolutely love. The perfect crunch, super easy to eat, and totally delicious. A little place just waiting for you to discover it.
Pleasant cafe. Can't comment on food as we only had coffee and tea. But the cafe was ok with us sitting there for hours without buying anything else. Nice environment with various Poe-related decorations and an architecturally interesting ceiling.
Had a wonderful time here! The appetizer, six-grain bread topped with beets and pine nuts, is a delightful snack. The bread is soft and chewy, while the naturally sweet beets pair beautifully with the crunch of the nuts. The Bolognese pasta arrives fresh and hot, with a vibrant red sauce. You can taste the juicy tomatoes, the well-seasoned meat, and the perfectly al dente spaghetti. Edgar’s omelette is the perfect way to start your morning with energy! It’s packed with fresh vegetables, filled with gooey, stringy cheese, and not overly greasy. It leaves you feeling fueled but not stuffed. It has the most adorable Tiramisu! Placed in a cup, the delicate tiramisu chunks are stacked over each other. It feels like you’re biting into a cloud but imparted with rich espresso and chocolate flavors! The key lime pie is impeccable. The tanginess is bold and bountiful, wakes up your palate and coaxes you into never-ending next bite. The crust, perfectly crumbly while not overly rich, holds up the whole pie beautifully. Latte is exceptionally foamy and tastes silky. It makes up a cozy dessert experience.
My experience here was great 👍🏽 and hopefully, yours too, if you go. I loved my chicken pesto, and for dessert, I ordered the flan, which was pretty good also :). The service was great, and prices not so bad, I mean, it's NY 😬 around 70 to 90 for 2 people. I really recommend it 👌🏾
Fabulous Cafe which is named for Edgar Allan Poe. Lovely, friendly staff. The interior is charming. The desserts are downright evil! . If you need a chocolate fix, look no further. They are dog friendly. They brought my dog a water bowl while I enjoyed my latte, which also looked like dessert...
Decent lattes and creative seasonal menus - definitely not my favorite latte in the UWS, the espresso shots tend to be a little over-extracted for my tastes, but I like their seasonal options when I’m in the mood for a flavored drink. Small but clean and chic interior and they are always playing good music!
Small but cozy place, coffee is really good, however the uptaco.. seemed like airplane food
11/09/2025 Edgar’s Cafe Edgar’s Cafe has been serving the Upper West Side for years but, it was not until recently that we started visiting there, usually on weekends. The owner, Edgar, is a very charming, friendly and attentive man and he is one of the reasons why we keep coming back. We have tried the different types of omelettes they have and they are all very good. Coffee is also good. Today we had the Florence omelette and we shared it. The ambience is very relaxed, laid back and quiet, shared by a mixed crowd of all generations. They have a wide variety of desserts also. Recommending Edgar’s Cafe for any occasion, you will not regret it. “Eat deliciously"
Waffle ($16), Two Eggs Sandwich ($11), and Risotto Al Funghi ($20) along with some coffee and lemonade is what we got. Were seated right away and the place was busy at 2 pm on a Sunday. Slight UWS charm to it, quick service (food arrives within 20-mins), and extremely dated interiors that didn't bother us at all. Reasonably priced though, which earns it a star! Will return!
They charge +$1 to make any espresso drink decaf and +$1.50 for whipped cream on the hot chocolate just fyi. Cool interior and nice cakes otherwise
Nice vibes, but the coffee is subpar. Ordered a simple cappuccino and was given a foamy mess.
I went with 2 friends for lunch. We ordered from the menu, 2 of the items weren’t available. Rather than tell us up front, the waitress brought two different items. That’s when they told us that the original items were not available. I got the feeling they hoped either we wouldn’t notice or that we would just accept the substitutes. one of our party wound up ordering lasagna which did come but had no layers. I am aware prices have gone up but the salads were small for the price. I won’t be going back and if anyone asked me for a neighborhood recommendation, I would absolutely not suggest this cafe.
The guy with the long hair and blue eyes has to “fix” his attitude. He never says hello, or smile or thank you. I gave this coffee more than enough chances but good service is something they have to invest in. Cappuccino is always messy. C’mon guys. It’s 2024 in NYC and you serve this?
Snobby staff. Went in and was pleased to find a nice cafe that wasn’t packed on a Sunday morning. This should’ve been the first warning. I went up to the counter since I wasn’t sure if it was a sit down and order or order at the front situation. The two women working gave no indication that I even existed after hovering for a while so I asked if I order at the counter. She said “yes” and then walked away. I was left waiting for the other woman to come back and take my order (all I wanted was a simple cappuccino). She took my order and I sat down. Momentary awkwardness over and was ready to enjoy my coffee with a friend of mine and play some cards. Fast forward five minutes when she comes over and slams the cappuccino down then immediately starts berating us. All I could make out in the flurry of words was “no cards” and “go”. Not sure what her problem but her voice just kept getting louder. We were so startled, honestly jolting for an otherwise peaceful morning. We hurried up and left. Thankfully I hadn’t paid yet - otherwise I would’ve demanded a refund. So many other, more polite cafes in the UWS to go beside this dingy place.
If you ever have the opportunity to go in for a coffee, do yourself a favor, don't. We ordered 2 cappucinos and got a weird warm milk drink with a flat semblance of foam, with cinnamon on top(who asked for that?!) and with zero flavor coffee in it. Plus it was scalding. Just awful.
