Fabulous delicious rice rolls! You do have to wait a little bit and they tell you how long. They make them to order and they are hot and fresh and so so good! I cannot wait to come back! The shop is small but that’s ok, everyone packs in and orders and everyone leaves with delicious food. You can eat there at the little counter or take it to go. I couldn’t wait! I dove in right there. Worth it! CASH ONLY!!
It was so good to have a quick snack- the portion is quite large for me but it was not ready made food, they start to cook once they got the order🙋🏻♀️ I ordered shrimps party which was #2 and it took about 10-12 minutes
The pork rice roll was one of the best things I have ever tasted and was the highlight of my Chinatown food crawl. Do not come to Chinatown without stopping here for a rice roll. I will certainly be back!
The #1 special was the best thing I tried in Chinatown! Simple ingredients with so much flavor. This was my first time trying rice rolls and was blown away! The dish looks unassuming but is delicious. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Tight on space inside and had to wait 30 min for the food but there is lots to check out in the immediate area to kill time.
Fantastic food, one of the best steamed rice rolls I had in the US. However, the place is too small and crowded, and the waiting time could be insane if you do walk-in. We placed an order and they were busy with other orders until finally prepared ours after an hour. You can see through the counter into their kitchen and watch how your rolls are made. Cash only.
Easily the best rice rolls in Chinatown or anywhere. They grind their own rice flour which makes their texture pillow soft. We go very early and the wait time can still be a little bit. Very tiny shop so its hard to find a spot to eat inside when it is cold outside. I've been here later in the day and hear wait times of over an hour. Also had the black sesame paste which is very finely ground and smooth.
The best steamed rice rolls in NYC and hidden gem in Chinatown! The rice rolls are mouthwateringly delicious with a silky, pillowy texture and generous fillings. Their soy sauce and chili oil really elevates it to the next level. Tip: call ahead to place your order, as wait times can easily stretch to an hour or more.
Wow, this is truly THE BEST rice roll spot in NYC! 🤯 Some of the best food usually comes from the most shabby looking spot! This tiny restaurant has mighty cooking! The rice rolls are silky smooth, so smooth that it’d slip through the chopsticks, so smooth that it shines under the light! And it blends so perfectly well with the egg whites, it’s like they are unified as one in heaven! All for under $5! 🤯❤️🤤 What else do you need?
Came for the first time with some friends! We ordered and had a 40 minute wait so we walked around and tried other food then came back. We were worried because we realized it was a few minutes after closing but they waited for us to get our orders before fully closing 🙏 There are some stools outside so we ate there. The texture on the roll is PERFECT and the roast pork was the right amount of flavorful to pair with the rice. So good
I think about this place every week. It’s cash only, busy, small, but the rice rolls are so damn delicious. They are very accurate with how long they’ll get to your order; my wait time was ~30 minutes. My boyfriend and I got the pork roll and the shrimp roll. They came out piping hot!! The rice sheets are beautifully thin and even, and the toppings give a great burst of flavor. Their soy sauce elevates the rice rolls even more!
This is a unique place that sells hand-made and steamed on-site 肠粉 that you find no where else in the states. My hometown in China had this type of food and I missed it so much for years till I found this place. I wish they offered it in a wonton soup or some kind of meat soup. Portion is large for the price. Difficult to find seating. The spices are good too.
A genuinely superb rice roll. So silky, thin, fresh, and brilliantly architectured. Like actually the best cheung fun I’ve had (not that I’m an expert or anything but it was straight gas). By 8:30 an egg rice roll was a 40 minute wait lol!! Which is INSANE. But they had some pre made ones which I got for $5 (cash) and it was delicious. The ones they have pre made are #15. I’d highly recommend it was delicious. You can see they make the rolls - they’re super super fresh. There’s not much filling in it but it’s like a normal amount of filling. Very, very good gluten free food option. No seating.
This is the BEST place to go for rice rolls. The SAUCIEST, MOST FLAVORFUL of all!!! They do not water down or skimp their sauces. They have peanut, chili, hoisin, sweet soy and sriracha. I got the cilantro scallion dried shrimp and egg. So delicious and thick! I WILL SAY I found two hairs in my food. Sanitation wise I do not think this place makes the cut. Their is often a 30 minute wait here as they get many orders a day. Place an order and take a stroll around Chinatown.
Delicious fresh rice rolls! Delicate layers of soft rice rolls, wrapped around your filling of choice, that has just the right amount of texture/chew. Topped with their sweet soy sauce (that comes in a packet on the side), it really is a perfect bite. Got the #1 signature and #10 beef, which both had a generous amount of filling. There was definitely a wait, about 30 to 40mins, so I would recommend calling ahead to place your order. The service can feel quite brisk but it's efficient. The store front is small and there's not much room to wait inside. There are 2-3 stools outside to sit and eat on, otherwise best to take away.
This small restaurant makes absolutely amazing rice rolls with the best one being the shrimp party of the combination special. The prices at every reasonable and includes sauces. The wait times can be a bit long but the best thing to do is to order first then go shopping and come back after the usual 25-30 minutes wait. It is definitely worth it and recommend trying if you are around.
*CASH ONLY* Chinatown is filled with plenty of affordable small eats - the challenge is just to find them. Yi Ji Shi Mo is one of those places that you will walk past without even realizing it. Tucked away in the middle of the block, all while having to step down into the restaurant, it is quite a hidden gem. Serving a Chinese staple, these rice rolls are hot, made fresh, and easy to eat because of their soft texture. I got their signature which comes with pork, shrimp, eggs, and scallions. I also added their sweet soy sauce and this absolutely addicting (what i believe is some kind of garlic chili oil) red garlic sauce. The restaurant itself is small and very difficult to eat inside when it gets busy. expect to wait at least half an hour to get your order on busy days!
Freshly made rice noodle and tasty beef rice roll (#10). No place to eat in. Small in the hole type eatery. Long wait time…30 - 60 min!
I bought shrimp party for breakfast and there was shell, bone, and poop in the food. As I ate I felt something crunchy but accidentally swallowed it then as I went to take another bite felt it again and when I checked what it was it was tons of shrimp shells. They did not check the quality of the food and for a 30 -40 minute wait that’s is disappointing and disgusting. I swallowed shells and saw poop in the shrimp. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE
