Great happy hour spot. Interesting drinks, cute atmosphere, and friendly bartenders. Loved the eclectic mix of music (everything from 90s hip hop to 50s/60s rock and roll). We tried all the happy hour cocktails and enjoyed them all.

I don't typically write reviews, but this restaurant went above & beyond. We initially had a reservation on Wednesday that the restaurant had to cancel because of unforeseen construction that forced them to close for the evening. Instead of receiving a text or email, I got a personal phone call from someone at the restaurant letting me know and asking if we could reschedule. We ended up going for dinner the next night and were so impressed from everything from the service to the atmosphere and the food! Everyone apologized for having to cancel our reservation from the night before, and the general manager even came over to our table to apologize, thanked us for coming, and gave us a complimentary appetizer. This kind of service just doesn't exist many places!! The food & drinks were amazing, and we were thrilled with the experience overall! Highly recommend!!

Quaint French restaurant, with a surprising amount of space. Downstairs is the bar and some small tables, with upstairs having a more formal seating area. Delicious cocktails and really good food with some delicious seasonal specials. They have a good selection of French wines as well. Beet chips are a delicious start. When the weather is nicer, there is garden seating.

Branzino, gnocchi, and chicken were all amazing, but the portions were on the smaller side for the branzino and gnocchi. Truffle croquettes were great as well. Oysters were good but nothing to write home about, saw they're $2 each during happy hour though which seems like a great price

The artichoke and the oysters were both delicious! We ordered the filet au poivre and it was cooked perfectly. I definitely want to come back and try the burger. Love the atmosphere here too

Lamb for two was AMAZING & the lobster appetizer is also a must! This is such a cute homey French restaurant in east village...its like eating at your French grandmothers home. The garden area is also so cute!!

Came here for a quick early evening happy hour with friends and it was the perfect vibe. Grab a seat on the banquette! Gorgeous space and the staff are the nicest people in the entire world. Love the vibes and can’t wait to come back!

We came here for our friend's birthday recently. The place is beautiful, cozy and charming. The food was delicious~~especially the mushroom gnocchi--and my chicken fricasse! We had great service from Edward, our waiter and would go back again for that gnocchi alone!

Super cute French wine bar. Sat at the bar. We had a few glasses of wine, a cocktail, and a NA beer. The cocktail list looks great! The wine was good, and the bartender was knowledgeable. Not busy on a Sunday night. Nicely designed, rustic-French atmosphere!

So happy we came here. The Bloody Mary was spicy and refreshing. The eggs Benedict was one of the best I’ve ever had. Hollandaise sauce was delicious, eggs were poached to perfection and the ham was unlike most places and was thin and truly superb. Fantastic service and cozy atmosphere

Stumbled across this gem after a restaurant we were going too was closed. What a lucky find! The space was much more than we expected from the outside. The food wasn’t the most consistently flavorful but still good. Ambiance is airy and light and service was great

Bobo is one of my favorite brunch places in the neighborhood and is always worth the trip from where I am from on the UES. The ambiance is beautiful, cozy and clean, the food and drinks are delicious and the service is always fast and the waiters/waitresses are kind and attentive.

Great service and amazing food - we came without a reservation and were seated very quickly even though it was relatively packed. Such a wonderfully cozy place to sit and spend a Sunday afternoon. Steak/fries and caviar hash browns were soooo good!!

Cool and cozy atmosphere, good music. We ordered the oysters and washed them down with a glass of rose. Next we tried the fries and paired them with maybe the best spicy margarita I've ever had (they infused the tequila with chili peppers. I do too, it's my jam). All in all, it was a nice after work hang. You should go!

I visited Bobo recently with a group of friends for a birthday 🎉 event. We had a wonderful time. The ambience and decor was very nice, the food really good, and the staff friendly. We ordered multiple dishes on the menu and they all delivered, I specifically recommend getting the grilled octopus which was phenomenal. The steak dishes all delivered too! Also give the beet chips a try. I enjoyed them.

Received warm and great.service from the host and servers here. He seated us in the deck which was great because the weather was beautiful and sunny today so loved the natural light. The food was really good and I was very happy that I got my oeuffs de maurette (a Burgundian dish made with red wine sauce). Highly recommend!

A phenomenal meal from start to finish. The size of the restaurant is unassuming as you walk down the stairs. The croquettes were particularly a highlight, but the real star of the show were the mussels. Bobo and it’s sister restaurant Claudette are absolute knock-outs.

We really enjoyed our dinner here at Bobo with friends. It's located in a charming townhouse with a covered outdoor terrace on the upper floor, perfect for dinner on a summer evening to enjoy the late sunset. The food itself was superb - each dish was clearly prepared with excellent technique and ingredients. We shared 3 appetizers in our group - the truffle croquettes, Parisian gnocchi and grilled octopus. I particularly enjoyed the truffle croquettes, which included corn roasted in honey. For my main I got the sasso chicken fricassee on the recommendation of our server, which I thought was surprising given that chicken breasts served in restaurants aren't usually bestsellers. The fricassee blew me away - it was tender, juicy, and flavorful, with very crispy skin to complement it, in a nice white stew. I would order the chicken again next time I eat here.

First time here really because it was the same name as my pup who passed away. I didn’t know what to expect on food or interior, we didn’t even look it up lol. We had early reservations which is my favorite so it’s not too packed. The staff is well trained you can tell they work well as a team and they were hospitable without over doing it. The interior is beautiful French country you literally feel like you’re there. A good selection of wines I appreciate that even the ones by the glass although I don’t drink anymore I know my wine. The menu now is small but I love that because you know the kitchen will have it down packed. The one thing is I asked for medium rare and got it a little too over cooked for my liking but the flavors made up for it I didn’t make a fuss. I’m excited to try brunch next time with my sister. Juan our server was a pleasure.

Absolutely loved the french vibes. Food was amazing and portions were filling. Would definitely go again 😍 try the pastry basket, heirloom tomato salad and croque monsieur! Can’t go wrong there. Tables were a little close so could hear the entire conversation beside us, I’m sure they heard us too 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Relatively small portion, which I didn’t mind at all because I can’t eat much. Tastes heavenly!!! The waiter was funny too and made our days better. Another plus side is that even though we went during Saturday brunch time, it wasn’t packed so you won’t have to try to have a conversation with a lot of noise around. Overall an ideal brunch place!

N
Nick Cassab (_cassab)

A beautiful space with delicious food. We went for brunch and everything was done to a very high quality. The coquettes were a highlight, the pastries were extra warm and flaky, and the eggs were perfectly poached. Can’t ask for anything more than that from a french brunch spot.

Came here late after a jazz show, around 10pm - lively, intimate place with great food and drinks. Service was great, friendly and fast. The mushrooms dish was great, also Brussels sprout dish, made a perfect late night meal with wine.

Food was absolutely incredible, traditional french flavours but still elements of unexpected. The restaurant is in over many floors in a townhouse and the ambiance is 100% what you'd hope it is: dim lit, calm, cozy with the perfect sound level for a nice dinner and a glass of wine Service is perfect although a bit on the faster end. Definitely coming back very soon!

Hip French restaurant in West Village. Went here during restaurant week and got their 3-course dinner. For starters, consider trying the tomato gazpacho or watermelon salad. For mains, the chicken confit is really nice and comes with salad. The paccheri is a good vegan alternative. For dessert, would highly recommend the molten chocolate cake. For a less sweet option, try the sorbet du jour. You could try both as they go well together. We also tried the oysters (part of the regular menu) and they came out quite fast. While the entrance of the place is through the basement, there is a second floor with balcony for additional seating. Would recommend getting a reservation as this place is very popular, particularly during restaurant week. Their offer is quite reasonable for what you get, and is generally less expensive than the restaurant week options at other restaurants.

Excellent spot - great food, service, wine. We started with a cheese plate and the gem salad (so good), then had the chicken and steak au poivre. The restaurant is very beautiful, located in an old townhouse and Bobo has a solid happy hour everyday at 5 downstairs.

An absolute must if you love bottomless brunch!!! The ambiance also truly makes this place the garden seating is absolutely spectacular and super cute for a date or photos. Their food is decent too It's presentation is delightful. The front of house staff is also cordial and well trained with the menu. It's so cute to just explore how creative they were with the design and seating of the whole place as well. Defintely take a walk around. You might have to wait for a table on weekends. My one feedback is there's always a line for the bathroom. It's also very expensive and the portion sizes could defintely be bigger it isn't too filling so they could help the portion sizes reflect the cost. They aren't big. Otherwise love this place!!! 😀

I had only ever been here previously for drinks but finally had dinner. Everything was 10/10. The truffle croquettes, the artichoke app, the chicken and filet were all beyond expectations, the kitchen staff really knows how to make mouthwatering food. Our waiter/bartender made us excellent drinks; he and the entire staff was accommodating in a way you don’t see much anymore. To say my husband and I were incredibly impressed is an understatement. We told every single person we saw that night after dinner how top tier Bobo is.

What a gem! Super vibe at this old townhouse turned French restaurant that feels so comfy & cozy. Excellent service and delicious French fare. Can’t wait to return. We shared the beet chips, octopus, artichokes & frites to start and then swooned over the filet, tuna & chicken. All fabulous. But the chocolate lava cake stole our hearts along with the lemon tart too! Great place.

Fantastic little gem of a restaurant, always consistently delicious food. The mushrooms and gnocchi were standouts, as were the almond/pear dessert. In between, the hanger steak, meatballs, and hot cider (try yours with a shot of whiskey) were all great. The Bryant Park location serves up just as delicious food, and atmosphere.

M
Marcel

Amazing food, the crispy artichokes are a must! The interior is really nice, has a great atmosphere, although the tables are a bit too close it’s not an issue. Service was great, sympathetic and fast. Will definitely come back next time I’m in NY!

A very cute restaurant located conveniently right by the subway station that serves amazing French food. We were seated on the back deck that was very private and a great place to host a party. The epic margarita was phenomenal and was a great way to start the meal off. For starters everyone got a nice salad accompanied by the grilled octopus and crispy artichoke. Both were very good and really showcases the amazing ingredients. For mains we had a choice of Parisian Gnocchi, Roasted Amish Chicken, or Filet au Poivre. I went with the steak and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. There were also spectacular pommes frites and roasted Brussels sprouts that accompanied as a side. To finish we had a lemon tart and chocolate moose. Both was amazing. I also had an espresso martini to cap every thing off. Let me tell you that that was the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. On top of all that amazing food we had amazing service. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Perfect place for brunch with its cozy atmosphere. Got the Boozy Brunch with French toast and mimosas. It was yummy but had tad bit more syrup vs. cream. The extra bacon I had was almost burnt. Drinks were good. Service was amazing.

With barely any knowledge of NYC (travelers from ATX) we came from Time Square to the west village. Knowing that there’s good bars and happy hours in the West village, we searched for bars/happy hours and BOBO popped up so we decided to stop there. It was very crowded inside and we were unsure if we could get sat, but the host was very nice and understanding that we were just there to get drinks on happy hour and directed us to the open bar. The bartender we had (forgot her name) was amazing. As she greeted us, I informed her that we were just there to get a few drinks from the happy hour (40mins left) and that I was trying to get at least two in before it ended. She shook her head in acknowledgment like she would make sure of it. I finished my first martini and before I was able to put it down she was asking, “ready for another”, even with the bar being very busy. My girlfriend also finished her drink and she was already getting offered another round. I Finished my second drink and she came up and asked “what’s next”, still with the environment being very busy. We were very satisfied with the service at the bar, would definitely recommend going on a weekend night, for sure would go back when we visit NYC. I wish I remembered the bartenders name, but she was from Florida so keep an eye out!

Devine doesn’t begin to describe it. I took my fiancé here for his birthday—it turned out to be a gift for both of us. Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Food: 5/5 This place legitimately shocked us. Beyond the facts that it was cute and the service was superb—every dish set a new level. We started with the truffle croquettes. I am not kidding when I say these were the best croquettes I have ever tasted—including the ones I’ve had in Spain and France. Next up was the “Parisian Gnocchi”—this was so good, to the point that my partner (a very picky foodie) called it “easily one of the top 5 dishes I’ve ever had.” Finally for the entrée, we both had the steak au poivre, medium-rare. This was hands down one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Not only was the temperature and seasoning perfect, but the quality of the meat was impeccable—not a single piece of fat to be seen. And, to top it off, the restaurant threw in a complementary chocolate moose with a candle for my partner’s birthday. Like everything else here, it was out of this world. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, after one meal here, this easily shot up to be in my top 3 of NYC eateries. If you’re thinking about booking, don’t hesitate, hit that reserve button and prepare for one of the best meals of your life.

Enjoyed their $45 Restaurant Week menu—an incredible value at a truly lovely spot. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or special occasion, our waiter was warm and attentive, and the portions were generously sized. The kale salad was delicious, with pumpkin seeds adding a great touch of texture and flavor. I then had the branzino, which was excellent—the sauce it was paired with was fantastic, and the charred fennel was especially refreshing. The only small downside was that the host wasn’t the warmest face at the door, which coincidentally all members of our party noticed when we met up. Still, would absolutely come back.

fav restaurant week deal. great atmosphere and balanced flavours with each dish. $30 dinner can’t be beat with a wine pairing too. fantastic experience and such a cute building where seating just never ends. great vibe, good service and fantastic food. you would regret it if you didn’t go, especially during restaurant week.

Bobo is one of those places that when you walk in you just feel warm. Each floor has its own particular vibe, and they all seem lovely. We sat in the greenhouse, and from my seat I had a view of the main dining room. The food is delicious, the cocktails are yummy. The burger is a great choice, the tuna was cooked perfectly. Next time we are in the area we will eat here again.

This French restaurant is a great choice for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. The truffle croquettes were my favorite dish, and I highly recommend trying them. The beet chips and kale salad were surprisingly tasty as well. However, the restaurant can get quite busy, which can be a bit of a downside. We had an 8:45 pm reservation, but it ended up being 9:15 pm because of the slow service. The manager was kind enough to send us complimentary food, which saved the night. I didn’t enjoy their red wine selection as much, but overall, it was a good experience.

Great French place - cozy vibes, not too formal, tasty food. Loved the lentil soup - so simple and fresh. The coq au vin was a bit indulgent and delicious. It didn’t bear any semblance to the traditional Coq au vin but please make space for other renditions of the classic French dish. Chocolate mousse was boozy and delish.

I absolutely loved this restaurant!!!! Every single dish was outstanding, there wasn’t one thing that disappointed. Everything we ordered, including the drinks, was absolutely delicious. A special shoutout to our server, Nicky, who made the experience even better. Nicky suggested the chicken, and even though I’m not usually a chicken person, I decided to give it a try and it was incredible. Truly next-level and one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had. Amazing food, amazing service, and an overall unforgettable experience. I can’t wait to come back!

We had such a wonderful evening at Bobo in the West Village! Cleo, the manager, and Nikki gave us the warmest welcome and made the night feel truly special. The vibe of the restaurant is incredible; cozy, elegant, and full of charm. The food was absolutely incredible. We had the hanger steak and the risotto, both cooked to perfection and so flavorful. To top it off, they recommended a special bottle of wine that paired beautifully with our meal and made the experience unforgettable. Huge thanks to Cleo and Nikki for their amazing service. We can’t wait to come back!

Overall excellent! Straightforward and small menu, everything came perfectly prepared, especially for a surprisingly large restaurant. Fish preparation was lovely, along a the fine-dining bouillabaisse sauce. Pasta ragu was delicious and roasted beets were refreshingly creative. Very fair prices! No complaints, a great meal and nice location.

We went to summer restaurant week and the food was the best French we’ve had in the city! We got the kale salad with truffle croquettes to start. Kale salad was so refreshing and coquettes had that thin, crispy outside and gooey inside! For entrees we got the branzino which was SO crisp and flavorful especially alongside the green beans! Perfectly balanced between flavorful and light. coq au vin was to die for - definitely on the richer side. The chocolate mousse and rice pudding was good but not as hard hitting as the other courses. Super recommend!

This is an absolutely beautiful spot and would be perfect for a romantic date! It looks like someone's house and is so cozy and intimate. I came for dinner on a weekday and although we had a reservation, we could have gotten by walking in. The happy hour wines are only $8 and are delicious and smooth. The French onion soup is a must-have, definitely one of the best in the city! We also started with the crispy artichokes and truffle croquettes; they were both good, but I preferred the artichokes because I loved the sauce. I had the squash and bitter greens salad and it was amazing. I would love to come back and sit in the garden room next time.

I was very surprised by how nice this place is! The interior of the restaurant is very welcoming and the outdoor patio in the back is so cool. They have some great happy hour deals as well. The food was tasty. Tuna was delicious and the salad it’s bedded on was just as good. The chicken had a very good sauce on top of it and was juicy. Drinks were priced reasonably especially for the area. Service was pretty good too. Our party had mixed reviews of the place, but I really enjoyed my experience. Recommend this place if you like French food and are in the area.

The food, service, and atmosphere were good! The server was very nice and we enjoyed the food a lot. The chicken I had was very tender and good. The shrimp risotto could be cooked a bit longer, but it was also good. I would love to try their brunch menu next time.

The place is adorable! Specially the sun room, such great vibes!! Got the omelette which was really good and my friends got the French toast with maple butter which they loved! I also got to go for the holiday season and the ambiance is so cozy and just perfect! The food was good to, we got the croquettes which were quite good, the beet salad which was smaller than expected but tasty, the octopus dish, and the potato gnocchi which was very good. Overall the food was good but the plates were smaller than expected. It is the ambiance that makes the place just wonderful and makes it a great experience!

I came here for a birthday dinner and the overall experience was amazing. The cellar has an easy going vibe and it’s more loud. We had a drink there while we waited for our table upstairs. Upstairs the restaurant atmosphere feels different but in a good way. It’s simple but charming and it goes pretty well with the French menu. Our waitress was amazing, fast, helpful, had good recommendations and knew a lot of the wine selection. I don’t know a lot of wine but we tried 4 types and they were all good. Excellent service. The menu is short but with a lot of good things. Everything was super tasty and I would recommend sharing all the dishes so you can try as much as possible. They even gave us a surprise birthday cake ! I will come back !

Came here with three other friends on a Friday evening around 7:30 for dinner. We had no reservation but the restaurant does set aside tables for walk-ins. A nice group let us take their larger table in the corner so we had space. There’s bar seating as well. The overall vibe is cozy and for restaurant week, the dinner was $45 for three courses. Not everyone was required to participate in Restaurant Week. I got the artichokes, the Branzino, and the chocolate mousse. The artichokes were a popular appetizer; the baby gem salad that my friend got was decently dressed. I also tried the gnocchi, which wasn’t as rich as I thought it would be. The Branzino had a nice lentil accompaniment and was nicely cooked. We all really liked the lemon tart. The chocolate mousse was also good and came with sea salt sprinkled on top - it’s wasn’t too sweet, and was light and airy. Credit cards accepted. They have happy hour during the week.

Cute, low key little French place. Dimly lit so perfect for some ✨romance✨. Enter from below and the host will take you up a flight up stairs to the main dining area. We started with the charcuterie which was as expected. I ordered the roasted chicken which was very tender. My friend ordered the steak which looked very good as well. Portion sizes are a bit generous. Food is reliable and traditional 🤗

I tried Bobo today for the first time with a friend for brunch. It’s located in a quaint brownstone with stunning windows. The service was welcoming and attentive. The French toast (pain perdu) was well done, if somewhat unexciting. I’d love to go back and try their dinner service — I could see this being a great spot for an intimate glass of wine.

Rustic French country home feel to it with a big wine list and great service. We just came for some happy hour oysters and frites but really enjoyed our time there

Enjoyed a delicious dinner here! Oyster happy hour was great and loved my scallop risotto. Also had a really tasty mocktail. Seating is a bit cramped but not uncomfortable!

Good spot for dinner with a nice wine and liquor selection. Cocktails were okay -- we finished 2/4 cocktail orders and left the other 2. I recommend the protein mains. Pasta doesn't seem to be fresh. Prices were fair except for the desserts, which were mediocre and quite expensive for the quality. Service was very fast and people were nice. Would drop by again for a drink and a few plates.

The best part about Bobo is the setting. Set in a brick-laden West Village townhouse, this French restaurant has floors with different ambiances, from the cozy downstairs bar to the classic main dining room to the winter garden in the back. The food and cocktails are a good compliment to the experience.

I love a good spiced margarita and Bobo’s épice Margarita is exactly that. It’s a crisp and refreshing cocktail garnished with a cucumber. The happy hour menu is not quite varied but it is decently priced. The oysters were lovely. I tried their pomme pavée in lieu of French fries for the same price point of $12 and it did not disappoint. The mousse au chocolat on the other hand was too dense for my liking but it tasted good. I’ll be back for certain.

Came here for brunch with a friend. The food was decent, but slightly high for what you get. But I guess that’s expected for the area. The service was excellent the ambiance was also very appealing!

EXCELLENT fish dishes. Both the tuna and Branzino were absolutely delicious. I could not figure out which one was better. They have a pretty good happy hour and I enjoyed the white wine. Oysters were OK. Great happy hour deal though ($2 each). The second floor is a bit noisy. Very cute interior though just noisy. A little tight with the tables. I would be interested in coming back and sitting downstairs. Very nice staff. Something to consider for a date night or with friends!

Great atmosphere! 5 stars for vibe. It looked pretty cramped on the first floor, but we had more than enough space on the second floor. I had the chicken which was juicy and savory, but the real star was the brussel sprouts. Definitely get them! Drinks were also delicious and strong. Dessert was unfortunately disappointing as meringue was as tough as jerky. Too bad, because everything else was good.

Went to bobo for a last minute sunday brunch as their kitchen was closing. However they were super accommodating and gave a few minutes to order food. We were seated downstairs which was cool, a little dark but would have preferred to been upstairs. Boozy brunch is worth it!! Their avocado toast was delicious and their burger was amazing!! Will definitely be returning!

Bobo is adorable - the top floor is so cute and with some sunshine shining through those windows, it lights up the entire space. The service was good and the food okay. I wouldn't say it's exceptional comprared to the NYC standards of amazing restaurents but it was good! They have a patio that can be used for private events making it very cute!

Bobo is an excellent place for happy hour. Cheap oysters, good cocktails and a lot of variety on the shareable plates. We were pleasantly surprised by the desserts of all things, the profiterole is to die for! On top of that the ambiance of the restaurant is top notch, it is exactly what you would expect of a place you need to go down to a basement in west village, dimly lit, nice soft music, excellent decor and buzzing conversations everywhere. Special shoutout to all of our waiters, they were really attentive and kept both the food and the drinks flowing at a nice pace. -@EduFoodNotes on instagram

The restaurant has a great vibe - super french, from the building itself to the menu design. I’m not a big fan of French food but i can imagine people would like this place. Happy Hour 5pm-7pm, good deal with drinks and oysters. My only suggestion is checking the menu before you book the place, just to make sure that you can get what you want.

Fun neighborhood restaurant. Happy hour with oysters on the half shell and French wine by the glass very good. Endive salad shared by 3 of us. Really tasty and fresh. Entrees of bolognese, scallops, and the Bobo burger came out hot and were delicious.

Second visit April 2025 (see below for first visit) This West Village converted townhouse has a surprising amount of seating on the second floor. First the good news, our dishes were pretty good, the burger, the tagliatelle and scallop risotto (burger was the weakest of the three, but not bad, at $28 fully priced). Our Thursday night 7 pm reservation was ready when we arrived. The busboy team was working hard, water refills were efficient and plates cleared promptly. Drinks were good. Some other observations: the restaurant seemed popular with lots of groups of very loud women, like ear splitting loud. We found ourselves yelling to be heard, not exactly a chill vibe. The floor has high ceilings but the problem is worsened by all hard surfaces. Not sure how many tables he had but our server didn’t get to us for about 15-20 minutes. Appetizer came out quickly and drinks but long delay for entrees, more than 30-40 minutes. Not acceptable. On balance the restaurant is ok but I prefer places where I can have a conversation. FIRST VISIT 2023 -> Stopped in for a late brunch. Nice old building in the west village, below street level. The front room has a low ceiling and we were close to a large table that overpowered the room with loud talking. I imagine that on a busy weekend evening it must be difficult to have a conversation in that room. We had a pleasant server who was working hard but it took a while for us to get our orders. The brunch was very tasty.

I went here with a large group. The happy hour specials are very good - you can’t beat the margarita and oysters. Appetizers are very nice for sharing. There were only a few vegetarian options but they were on the menu. I’d probably skip the beet chips. The Caeser salad is less traditional. The tuna salad had very high quality tuna. All the pasta dishes were very good and the staff were decently friendly about removing some items. The steak aux poivre is very well prepared and caked in pepper. The environment is very cute but can be very drafty in the winter. The desserts were very pretty, but underwhelming after such delicious shareables and entrees. I’d go back with friends or as a date night.

Bobo is such a cute brunch spot. It’s located inside a townhouse with a beautiful dining room, outdoor terrace and a dimly lit den below street level. The den may be nice for dinner or even by the windows, but we were seated in the back away from the sunlight on a gorgeous day out. If you’re looking to enjoy the beautiful weather, I’d recommend sitting in the dining room or outdoor terrace. I tried the avocado toast, which was simple with nice flavor from the sunflower seeds and a side of greens. I’m looking forward to trying more dishes next time.

Ambience is lovely. Menu options were quite mid. Took a while to get our 2nd round of drinks but otherwise service was good

We tried Bobo’s on a Saturday night because one of our favorite restaurants in the area is temporarily closed, Claudette (sister restaurant to Bobo’s). Well, we missed Claudette and hope it opens real soon. The food we had at Bobo’s was a little disappointing sorry to say. The cocktails we had were really good. Not too sweet which we liked. So they definitely got points for the drinks. We ordered half dozen oysters and they were fresh so so far so good. Now the entrees, we ordered the scallop risotto and the pork and white wine sausage. The scallops were delicious but the risotto was too salty. The sausage dish was meh. For $30 it was a single sausage with some mash potato. Add some veggies or something. For $30 it was not worth the money and the sausage was not really that tasty. Also, the 3 stars for atmosphere is because it was loud and crowded and we were basically sandwiched between two other parties. Again, can’t wait for Claudette to open back up again.

We had dinner for 6 last night. Bobo is a cool little tucked away underground spot. We sat inside by the bar area, so did not experience the other parts of the restaurant, but it was so so loud blasting 2015 Kygo music, we had to yell at each other throughout our meal. So I may caution anyone who has more than one guest where you can canoodle and talk closely next to one another. The service was nice and we never felt rushed. I felt our particular food items lacked seasoning. The mashed potatoes served with the Toulouse saucisson were perfectly whipped yet completely bland. The gravy itself not making up for diverging the lack of flavor. The saucisson was wonderfully done. Deep flavor and a great snap quality. The bolognese was cold and more a big pile of mushy thin noodles that could have been better served by a heartier noodle shape to hold up to the meaty sauce. The Beurre of the Beurre radish with baguette, again not sure of the source of their ingredients but these were just bland. It’s the simplest thing to make because in essence you aren’t making anything and letting great quality simple things shine on their own. The croquettes were a nice little crispy truffle mozzarella stick. Always fun. The roasted chicken and the fish are classics and were well-cooked and enjoyable, and the stars of the dish, yet the vegetables served alongside were also undercooked and under seasoned. I really wanted to enjoy this place and I do look forward to giving it another try, perhaps on the much earlier side in hope there are some more standout items. My don’t-leave-without-it pick? The epice margarita.

Came here for brunch with some of my friends. I ordered the Basque Baked Eggs ($18) and Pain Perdu ($18). Although the food tasted good and service was smooth, the portion sizes were small for the price. I essentially paid $40+ (after tax and tip) for two poached eggs and 4 pieces of toast. Overall, I would rate this place a 6/10 - the food and vibes are nice, but the things I ordered were not worth the money.

The place was cute and had a great atmosphere. However, the food didn’t meet expectations. The burger was overcooked, and the manager was nowhere to be seen. We were not approached once to ask how our food was. Would suggest to work on the service.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing. We tried the Restaurant Week menu, but the food was disappointing. The onion soup was among the worst I’ve ever had, and the dessert tasted like an omelet covered in caramel syrup. I left feeling hungry and scammed.

I wouldn’t go back here because of the food. truffle croquettes were good but the oeufs meurette en cocotte (egg, bacon, mushroom) was mostly mushroom not a real breakfast kind of dish and pain perdu (French toast) was too sweet.

Totally botched our Valentine's day night. First off, our res was at 8:30 and they didn't seat us until after 9. They also didn't advertise well that it was a pre-fixe menu. There were only 4 entrees available and the steak had "run out", so really 3 options (iirc: salmon, truffle pasta, or lamb). I generally lose respect for restaurants that take advantage of valentines day in NYC. They do pre-fixe so they can get as many people through as quickly as possible. They charge extra for fewer menu options. What a racket! We ended up leaving out of frustration. I've been to Bobo before and the food is fine. I just think they missed the mark this time.

We booked a table at bobo west village with much excitement earlier in the day. We got texted to confirm our reservation in the afternoon, and we did. 30 minutes before our reservation time, we received a text saying they’re expecting us in 30 minutes. We arrived exactly on time and were told to stand by the bar, as our table was not ready yet. We mentioned we were going to a show next door and only had 90 minutes to enjoy dinner. It was strange because there were 3 tables open on the lower section right where we were standing. The next 3 coupes with reservations were offered seated in these seats if they didn’t want to wait…..By the time we asked they said oh yea you could have seated there if you wanted, there was a tiny spaced table in the middle of the pack, so we decided to wait for our upstairs table, as it we were told the bill was paid and they were leaving. We waited 15 minutes after our reservation time to be seated, while 3 other had been seated and served their first drinks already…once seated, we then waited another 10 minutes before our server came by. With no apology about the wait, we ordered our full meal and bottle of wine all at once. After waiting another 10 minutes my wife had to ask where the wine was, and the server rudely said, “it’s coming from the cellar so you’ll have to just wait!” This is when our experience at bobo really fell apart. Very surprised when their wine list of maybe 20 reds required a 20 minute search to retrieve it. A few minutes later our appetizer arrived and still no wine. We then asked a manager where our wine was? He said he would get it right away as our food was getting cold. We decided to just eat it anyways without our desired wine pairing. When the manager returned with the bottle, he kindly apologized and said he would be taking care of something from our bill. This was the moment I thought things would turn around on the experience. Unfortunately the bottle of Pomerol was very warm, and I had to ask for an ice chiller to get the temperature to a reasonable level to enjoy this very nice bottle of Bordeaux. By this point, our server had completely ghosted on us. When the food arrives we had basically 15 minutes to enjoy this meal, so we decide to stay longer and enjoy it while sacrificing the start of our show. At no point at all, did our server come back to see how our meal was or ask about the wine and our timing. Our final interaction with him was to ask for the bill, and have the bottle of wine packed to go, as we couldn’t finish it. Without a word he gave us our bill and brought the packed bottle of wine back. To our surprise, even though the manager said he would be taking care of something from our bill, nothing had been done. So at this point we just paid and left extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with bobo. Our awesome Saturday evening in NYC was trashed by our experience here. So Félicitations for accomplishing this feat, when it could have been completely avoided with some professional care and attention to detail. I guess you could say you’ve made a bit of a boo boo that will be remembered by us for a while. Usually we wouldn’t take the take to leave a negative review, but through all the dinners out around NYC over the past decade, this took the cake as the most disappointing. We wanted other people out there to know that they may get the same treatment we did and perhaps to consider another option. It’s not that we don’t see a possibly incredible dining experience at bobo, it’s just that ours missed the mark but a massive margin. For the amount of money we are spending this level of service is unacceptable. I know we’re not “regulars” or VIP patrons, so we have reasonable expectations, but this hit rock bottom. Félicitations

I’ve always enjoyed dining at Bobo — it’s been one of my favorite neighborhood spots for quite some time, which makes this review especially disappointing to write. During my most recent visit, I ordered a pasta dish as my entrée based on the waitress’s recommendation. I was in the mood for pasta and decided to try something new, trusting the suggestion. Unfortunately, the dish did not meet the standard I’ve come to expect. It was extremely salty, and the gnocchi were cold, almost as if they had been previously frozen and not fully reheated. I wasn’t able to finish the meal and chose to take it home, but I ultimately left the restaurant still feeling quite hungry — something that has never happened to me there before. I’m sharing this feedback because I’ve consistently had positive experiences in the past and hope this was just an off night. I truly value this restaurant and hope to see it return to the high quality I know it’s capable of.

We chose this restaurant for Valentine’s Day expecting a romantic, intimate atmosphere, especially given the reputation and quality of the food - which, to be fair, was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the ambiance completely missed the mark. About 10 minutes into our dinner, a group of five girls was seated next to us and proceeded to scream at full volume for the rest of the evening, as if they were at a bottomless brunch rather than a nice dinner service. They were so loud that we could barely hear each other speak, and it completely took away from what was supposed to be a special night. I understand that guests’ behavior isn’t entirely within the restaurant’s control, but what was disappointing was the complete lack of intervention from management. It was obvious this was disruptive - every table around us was staring, clearly uncomfortable. On a night like Valentine’s Day, when so many couples are there specifically for a romantic experience, I would have expected staff to step in and politely address the situation. We recently got engaged and chose this restaurant to celebrate what should have been a memorable evening. While the food delivered, the atmosphere did not. Because of that, I would not recommend this spot if you’re looking for an intimate or special date night experience.

The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great but the service I had, was terrible. The whole night, I felt like the waiter was rushing us to get out (Sat under the stairs). Not sure not was he hovering over us the whole time, he grabbed me and my partners drinks and food before we were done eating, without asking if we were finished. To top it off, when he grabbed the plate, the knife fell on me, smearing me with food, and he didn’t even apologize. As much as I enjoyed the food, and the atmosphere, don’t think I will be coming back.

I would not recommend hosting an event here. I paid for an alcoholic beverage package for my guests, but the wait staff never told anyone that drinks were included or offered. Because of this, not a single guest ordered an alcoholic beverage. When I asked about it afterward, I was told that tent cards had been placed out, but there were only four for almost twenty guests and they were very easy to miss. I also chose the option to set the tip at the end of the event so it could reflect the level of service. When I tried to address the issue, I was told that nothing, including the tip, could be adjusted because it was an event and I would need to speak with the event manager, who was not available on weekends. I spoke with the event manager, Rosanna Macalindong, the very next day. Her response took four days and felt dismissive. When I followed up, she said too much time had passed, even though the delay came from their side. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and inflexible.

Food was not good, didn’t really like it and wouldn’t come again. Steak was barely warm, as if it was just heated up. It was also overcooked. Usually indication of it not being freshly cooked at the time of our dinner. Fries were alright. Last time I was here everything was delicious (ordered the same thing about a year ago). This time was disappointing. Ordered the baguette appetizer (baguette with butter and radish) which was $12, and the bread was cold, not freshly baked or crispy. Kale salad was good though. Ambiance was nice, service was good. But the food made the experience disappointing.
