If you haven't tried Japanese wide flat udon, this is the place for you. The sets are of high value including the udon and assortment of tempuras. I highly recommend the cold dipping udon because you can taste the original flavor/texture of the udon and the complexity of the dipping sauce (even the yuzu fragrance). The hot soup udon doesn't do that as much. But mind you: dishes here center around carbs so if you are looking for more meat/protein heavy for, this place might not be for you.
This was so yummy! And value for money! I liked the cold udon yuzu noodle situation a lot. The chicken soup was also good. Very fast service! They only seat full parties. At 7:15 on a Sunday, we (2 ppl) waited for like 10 mins. But by 8pm, there was a massive line
Probably some of the best udon in NYC I’ve ever had. Very simple menu, but in this case less is more because anything you order will be done so well. I ordered the hot chicken udon which came with the most delicious piece of tempura bacon. Service is incredible and extremely fast. Not many seats so either get there early or be prepared for a short wait. Would suggest going alone or just in a group of 2.
A bit pricey imo for the signature set, but was overall delicious and surprisingly filling. I’ve never had this style of udon, so I can’t attest to the authenticity (even though there’s bacon tempura lol) The workers there were very sweet and helpful. Went for lunch on a weekday and it was pretty much empty.
The vegan dipping udon is SO GOOD! The flavor is incredible. So nice to have a vegan option and it is also amazing. Second time here and will be coming back again.
I got the signature set and it was delicious!! Recommend to eat it quickly or the udon will stick. Shrimp and Japanese potato tempura was my favorite. I thought the bacon was a bit too salty. You order through the QR code by seat (and tip) so it’s super seamless and quick! Warning: there is no restroom here!!
Efficient spot for very good udon. Love the tempura prawn and bacon, as well as the other accompaniments. It’s a unique experience and you can order on your phone while you’re in there. Worth a visit
This udon spot specializes in udon dipping, and even if you’re not familiar with the style, there’s no need to feel intimidated—they explain everything clearly and walk you through the dish. I had their signature set. The udon was chewy and bouncy, just the right texture. The tempura was fresh and crisp, a solid contrast to the noodles. Next time, I’ll probably swap out the tempura bacon, as it was a bit salty for my taste. It’s also a perfect place for solo diners. Even though ordering and paying is done online, the staff were attentive and helpful throughout the meal.
I really enjoyed this style of udon as I've never tried it before. The noodles have a wonderful chew to them, and the dipping sauce in the signature set is delightfully fragrant. I was pleasantly surprised by the bacon tempura, which wasn't too greasy. The other tempura were very good as well. The service was friendly and quick once we were seated, but we did have to wait a little over 45 min on line. It was a nice night to chat on line though!
They do udon or soba in soup or tsukemen style served with tempura and that's it...and they do it REALLY WELL. Delicious. The tempura is light and delicate..a riff is tempura bacon, which was good but the veggie tempura pieces were even better. I got the tsukemen style with very wide (around 1.5") flat noodles, great chew and bounce, a little tough to pick up, lol. The dipping broth is well balanced and flavorful. This is a tiny place, counter seating only. Great for solo dining or with 1 other person.
I got the Himokawa dipping udon set with tempura and it was so good! The noodles were perfectly cooked and chewy and the tempura were not greasy with a thin coating. The sauce that they gave to dip the udon was my favourite part. Loved the slight hint of yuzu! Near the end, the udon at the bottom were really difficult to separate so that’s the only thing that bothered me. We came at around 7:00pm on a Sunday and were lucky enough to get seated almost right away with around a 5 minute wait. They close a little early on Sunday at 8pm, so keep that in mind when visiting.
This place is very popular, and on weekends at lunchtime you’ll likely need to wait for a table unless you arrive right when it opens. That said, the wait usually isn’t too long. Their specialty is a variety of udon and cold noodle dishes—the noodles are springy and unique, and the toppings are well-seasoned without overwhelming the natural flavor of the noodles. The way the dishes are enjoyed also feels distinctive, making it a spot well worth visiting.
Great Food!! Great Staff!!!Great Vibes!!! A must visit when I come back to (NY) the Lower Eastside or if you in the Lower Eastside check them out. You all show this Southern Boy some NY Love!!!
We hosted a dance party to celebrate our wedding at Saint in the Chandelier Room and it was easily one of the best nights of our lives. We had about 100 people, and the energy never dipped. The space, the staff, and the overall vibe came together perfectly. Megan and Michael were incredible to work with. From the start they were warm, excited for us, and genuinely kind. They even called us their favorites, and by the end of the night they kept saying our wedding was the best event they’d ever had, which honestly matched how it felt to us. They let us stay longer at no extra rental fee, and that generosity meant everything when no one wanted to leave. The Chandelier Room is stunning. It feels special in a way most NYC bars just don’t. The attached Secret Garden made it even more unique, even though it wasn’t available the whole night because of noise rules. Compared to typical NYC options that are either barebones or wildly overpriced, Saint felt like a real diamond in the rough. We used the main room as a full dance floor all night instead of a dining setup, and it worked perfectly. The mirrored walls, a packed floor, and a DJ who knows the space well created an amazing atmosphere. Most people were dancing nonstop, so food became more of a supporting role, which was exactly what we wanted. People still enjoyed what was served, and Saint also worked seamlessly with us to bring in late-night pierogies from Veselka mid-party. Throughout the night, lots of the Saint team and management came up to congratulate us and tell us how happy they were to see the event going so well. Even though other spaces at Saint were booked the same night, we barely noticed and always felt like our party had its own world. Everything felt joyful, easy, and natural. Saint gave us a night that felt effortless and unforgettable. If you want a place that is beautiful, flexible, fairly priced for NYC, and run by people who truly care, this is it.
Had an amazing time at Saint in the East Village. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything felt thoughtful and well done. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to and highly recommend.
Brasserie Saint Marc is an absolute gem in the East Village. The atmosphere is warm and authentic, the food is consistently excellent, and the menu has something for everyone from classic French dishes to standout cocktails. Service was top-notch from start to finish. Greg was especially helpful and made the experience even better with great recommendations and attentive service. You can really tell the staff cares about creating a great dining experience. Highly recommend definitely coming back.
Walked in earlier than expected for a 5 pm reservation and wind up waiting a bit more than the scheduled time. Upon informing the host of the basics, which is the name, time and location she informed me that I wasnt listed. Whilst pulling up the text, host states I found it (reservations). Seated, orders taken, drinks received, food received. All went well, food and drinks were great. I enjoyed Octopus as a starter and Chicken Caesar Salad with Chicken as the main meal. I was able to taste the Salmon, Broccolini and Mash and enjoyed it all. Wanted to view the speakeasy but wasn’t able to due to there being multiple Holiday Parties. Food was good, all
Saint is one of my favorite spots to have a drink or host a private event! The company I work with hosts events here often and the staff and food are top notch! Megan is always so on point at the events and makes every guest feel so welcome. Would definitely recommend Saint for your next event!
All the bartenders here are really cool, but there’s one in particular that just made the best coffee of my life. His name is Bart. He’s actually so cool and very friendly and knows how to do his job very well. Amazing bartender any places deserves him, and I love the vibes of this place.
Beautiful space with the most hospitable staff in the city. I had my birthday party there and all my guests were beyond impressed with the decor and how the staff made us feel like the most important people to walk through the door. The cocktails are so delicious from the espresso martini to the apwrol spritz everyone's different cocktails were absolutely perfect. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts and Burrata were so delicious to start our meal off. We enjoyed the Bell Evans Chicken and NY Strip Steak cooked to perfection. Both so juicy and full of flavor. Since we were a big party, we worked with the manager, Megan, to plan a prix fixe menu and have a family style dinner. She also hooked me up with amazing Dracula themed decorations for the table. I will definitely be coming back for happy hour and date night!
We hosted our wedding reception party at Saint last weekend. due to bad weather couldn’t use the garden but they were very accommodating and ended up moving the party indoors, Such a beautiful space too. The food was the best part, all my guests raved about it, every single bite was delicious, I was very impressed! Kayleen was so great she made sure everything worked out and took care of every single detail, amazing service and friendly staff. We’re very grateful, they made our night very special.
Came on a busy night but was seated quickly, we had a few courses but my favourites were the Mushroom ravioli, salmon, mushroom chicken and the Tiger shrimp ceviche. our server Millie was pleasant afterwards we went down to the speak easy and for a tête-à-tête. we will be returning very soon!
Good place to grab a quick meal, either by yourself or with one other friend (bar-style seating). The udon portion doesn’t look like much, but was surprisingly filling with the tempura. Delicious, though not at Raku quality.
Came here at 5pm on a Friday alone and no wait at all. The menu is simple, focusing on Himokawa udon sets. The tempura here is well made and not overly greasy, pairing well with the dipping sauce. The only drawback was the saltiness of the hot broth - I tried drinking it alone and it was unbearable. Considering this wasn’t the cold dipping noodles, I assumed that this broth would be less concentrated and more clear. Service was great and as a solo diner, I didn’t feel rushed at all. Overall, I would recommend people to visit at least once, but would personally not rush back.
the tempura has a light, thin batter that pairs nicely with the dipping sauce, making it very refreshing. The wide udon noodles have an interesting texture, but the soup base itself is a bit underwhelming.
Overall a decent meal. The cold noodle set with the katsu is a must get. The soup noodle is very salty and mid but that comes with Japanese soup I guess. It’s a bit pricey but decent experience
Visited on a weekend afternoon after hearing about their flat udon noodles served tsukemen-style. The place has a Japanese bar vibe with only counter seating—no tables. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code at your seat, but I found it uncomfortable that you’re asked to tip before your food even arrives. My friend got the hot udon and I had the tsuke cold udon. Both came with six flat noodles and tempura. The food tasted good, but the portion felt small for the price, which was disappointing. The biggest letdown was that there’s no restroom available. It’s worth trying once for the unique noodles, but I probably won’t be back.
Udon noodle was great. But the chicken broth was salty in my taste. I liked the cold fish broth udon better. Their shrimp tempura was salty as well. It was a good shrimp tho. I would've ordered 5 myself if it wasnt salty. There can be a wait so I recommend going in a bit earlier than usual dinner time if going for dinner.
Celebrated friends birthday in here, and noticed a lot of other large parties in there. The portions of Ceasars salad and fried calamari were huge! For mains took Lamb (delicious, but small portion), burger and truffle fries (amazing!) Cocktails were decent, but no draft beer was available, only bottled.
Saw this place and had to try it, it looks so beautiful inside and out. The food was pretty good too. Highly recommend the lobster gratin, roasted carrots and croquettes. The service was good, they didn’t have the bottle of wine we ordered off the menu which was a bummer. Definitely a good place, would come back and try other menu items.
the noodles were unique - we tried the signature dipping set and broth set. my favorite was the sweet potato tempura. we waited almost an hour on saturday evening.
The udon texture is great—nice and chewy but not overly so. Tempura is also solid, especially the bacon one. It’s my first time trying bacon tempura and it was surprisingly good. The dipping udon broth is flavorful, and with all the extra seasonings, you can switch up the taste, which is fun. But the hot soup version was way too salty for me. That said, the set costs around $22–23 and only comes with six noodles… I mean, seriously? I’m not even exaggerating—it was literally six noodles.
I requested the "secret garden" room for a 70th birthday dinner of initially 30 guests. The guest count diddled down to a final 18 about a week prior to the event (which was communicated to the hostess) but we had snow the morning of the event and only 14 guests arrived. I'm giving a back story for context, maybe guest count played a role in how the situation was handled. The room wasn't available because of the snow "storm" that happened the day of the event. I spoke to the hostess the afternoon of the event and nothing was said until I arrived to the venue. We were put in what looked like the "Chandelier dinning room" which would've been fine but there were these awful blue lighting, snow flake decorations hanging from the ceiling, it was dark and this big blown up/lit up snow man in the room with us. It looked like they had a themed party before us and didn't bother to redecorate or take down what was put up. That wasn't the vibe I was going for. The overall 2 stars were basically just for the food, the food was great!
I recently visited Saints Bar and Speakeasy after seeing all the amazing shots on social media, but it turned out to be a bit of a letdown. The atmosphere and decor were impressive, creating a cool, inviting vibe. But beyond the aesthetics, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. We made a reservation for brunch, last minute they called and canceled on us due to an event taking place and recommitted our time for dinner. The food was subpar, falling short of the vibrant photos on Instagram. On top of that, service was frustratingly slow – our waitress, though kind and accommodating, took forever to check on us, even though there were only two other tables occupied. Adding to the disappointment, we noticed a surprise four percent dine-in fee on our bill, which hadn’t been mentioned at any point before. This lack of transparency felt off, especially considering the average food quality. If you’re after a great photo op, Saints is a good choice. But if you’re looking for exceptional food or clear, upfront service, you might want to reconsider.
Came here on a Friday night with an 830 reservation for 10 people. They have a nice big table in the back, which is great for parties. However, it took us 45 minutes to have someone even offer us water, and I had to get up and ask for us to have menus place drink orders. We ended up having to write a list of everyone’s drink order on someone’s phone for them to photograph so they could quickly get started. We did the same with food, but it took over an hour for us to get even the first few appetizers which were not even cooked dish dishes. The food was honestly not super great either. The duck was good, but the calamari was rubbery, salads were just okay, steak didn’t have much flavor, lobster ravioli was disappointing, and the burger was maybe the best dish. The servers were nice people, but it was unbelievably bad service having to wait so very long for drinks and food during a celebration. They were kind and took multiple things off the bill in the end, but I would highly recommend NOT coming here for a large group party
