Dorlan's Tavern & Oyster Bar is a popular spot in the Financial District, known for its friendly service, fun atmosphere, and great food, especially the charbroiled oysters. It's a great place for drinks, watching games, and hosting parties. Some found the oysters just good, not great.

Your go to bar for when you get off work. The local watering hole if you will. Very laid back place. Bartenders are always nice. Food is decent. Good spot to chill for a bit after a long day.
I worked with Jeanne to host a work event at Dorlans and it was wonderful!! Jeanne was so helpful and the event was a great success - shout out to Marlene behind the bar making great drinks and the kitchen with great sliders and guacamole and chips! The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for - lively but a little exclusive. Thank you to the whole team - we’ll definitely be back!
Love this place. It’s a favorite in the neighborhood. The music is incredible & super diverse thus good dkm oldies to hip hop to pop and all great and known hits. The food is delicious bar food & cocktails are delish. Definitely try the Irish coffee or the blueberry sangria. The service could be a tad bit better but it’s worth it!
Best linguine with white clam sauce I ever had! 4 SUPER FRESH AND SWEET CLAMS with lots of fresh chopped CLAMS, NOT from a can. It is very buttery and tasty! The happy hr $13 for 1/2 dozen of fresh oysters and glass of wine or beer is an excellent deal! Overall we had great fresh seafood and great service. Well deserved a 5 star!!
We love Dorlan's. It is such a great neighborhood spot with great drinks, great food - especially the burger, and the nicest staff. We hosted our daughter's first birthday in the Dorlan's private room, and it was perfect. Would definitely recommend Dorlan's. When you stop in, get the pineapple habanero margarita!
Bartenders are the best. Marline and Matt are great. Jeremy, the owner is a fantastic host. Food is very good. Char grilled oysters and the burger are tops!
We were really impressed with the brunch. I had a cob salad that was so fresh and colorful. The kids loved the French toast and the chicken sandwich was huge!
An excellent place to spend time with friends and family. The bartender Sergio and the staff are super attentive and friendly.
Food was great. Had the clam chowder and Cod sandwich with a hot apple cider. The food was great. The cider had a nice mixture of honey and cinnamon. Had to take a point off because they were playing hip hop music. I would have preferred traditional Irish music.
We ended up in this place by pure chance and we loved it! The atmosphere is nice, it seemed very local and the music is great, really enjoyable! In addition, we had a chat with Mac, one of the bartenders, a very good guy, kind and nice to talk to! Worth visiting just for him!
Dorlan's, where have I been all your life??? I wanted to take my fabulous foodie niece out for oysters and at long last decided to give Dorlan's a try. It was a beautiful, breezy Sunday evening and the place was bustling, yet we were seated outside right away. Service was friendly and attentive. She judged the oysters fresh and delicious! I had a scrumptious Swiss burger and we shared the fries as well as a refreshing salad. Her bourbon smash was, well, a smash, and I thoroughly enjoyed my very generous glass of wine. In fact, there was an attitude of quality and generosity in everything we had and the tab was very reasonable. Truthfully, I can't wait to get my backside back to Front St!! Go!
Great spot! Owner was a great guy. If you are in the area go get a pint and enjoy an old school NY Irish bar!!
This is truly a GEM of the Seaport area in NYC. My boyfriend and I stumbled across this place on my birthday when walking around the area on a beautiful evening. Let me tell you— this was the best meal I’ve had in a while, and definitely the best oysters I’ve ever had in my life. It is most definitely a dive bar, but that’s the joy of it. We loved the laid back atmosphere, old school tunes and overall good vibes. The bar looks out to the street so it’s really fun to go on a nice night when all the windows and doors are open— I’d even recommend sitting outside. The service was A+, the drinks were A+ and the food was A++++. We got two types of Oysters, Mozzarella Sticks and the sliders — 11/10.
The food was great, the drinks went down smooth, and the staff was friendly. The area was chill and the music had me moving in my seat while enjoying my lunch. If I ever find myself back in NY, I'll definitely be back to stop at Dorlan's. Definitely try the Mac n Cheese and the Fish and Chips!
We have been to Dorlan's numerous times as it's our favorite neighborhood spot - nothing better than a casual vibe bar with great food. Recently we also held an event in the private space and Jeanne was incredibly helpful in the planning (it was a surprise event so I needed her help for sure!). And on the day of the event, the staff were incredibly kind and organized. Five stars... may have to go back this weekend again! PS they have a wing tower, so if you ever do an event... I highly recommend pairing an oyster tower with a wing tower.
After having a bad experience at Jeremy's Ale House, we walked into here. We were greeted by a lovely young lady and seated right away. Being from Chicago, they sure fixed our bad experience from Jeremy's, so huge thank you's! My steak was amazing and the side salad was so delicious, I am still craving it. Everything was so good and large portions! Thank you so much and everyone was so nice.
Amazing spot in the Seaport District, right behind the Brooklin Bridge and next to the financial district. Personnel extremely kind and professional. Excellent food and beers. I reccommend Dorelan's Fish and Chips and Dorelan's Pilsenr. Definitely the best spot to eat in downtown Manhattan.
This place has delicious food! I had the chicken sandwich with fries and the sandwich was big a little spicy but it added a good flavor. The chicken was nice and warm it fell apart and melted in my mouth and the sauce was the cherry on top of everything. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves sea food and burgers!
Food was amazing, drinks too a good spot to go for a beer, the staff was friendly.
I have been coming here every once-in-a-while for years, and it is truly a special place. The beer-and-shot combo with a dash of their popcorn is really all you need to start a great night in the seaport area. Food looks good, but can't say I've had it... yet...
We come here on Sunday at 7pm and it so busy. This place is half bar& restaurant. The menu don't have much food for you to pick but it good enough combination between hamburgers and Oysters place. The price are affordable, service good and waitress are nice. I have a very first time to try Top Neck Clams, it a lot of favors but I like Oysters better.
Happy hour has great tacos with beer, also beer and shot specials. Double patty burger was a delicious!
Perfect bar to host an event in their back room! Jeanne and team could not have been easier to work with and I am already excited to plan my next event with them. Between the party platter options and drinks, a great time was had by all!!
Dorlan’s is an amazing spot to grab a drink or a bite with friends and is an amazing spot for a party. I have hosted 2 events here now and each time it has been a more enjoyable experience! Can’t recommend out local spot any more
Dorlan's is a must stop when in the Seaport neighborhood. Wonderful staff, great food, and fun atmosphere. They always welcome my group when in that area, we will go back.
Place is great - year round. An NYC Seaport staple. Food and service is awesome. I’ve also hosted my wedding’s day-after party as well as a surprise 30th in the private room and I can’t recommend it enough. Jeanne and the owner are great to work with. Thank you again! Looking forward to the next event with your team soon.
I had a post marathon celebration at Dorlan's after the NYC marathon this year. The food was great, service was amazing (especially Jeanne), and we had a perfect time! We had a bigger-than-expected crowd come to the party and we were able to just flood into the common room which ended up working out great! Would recommend having a party here and I will most definitely be having more in the future!
It’s a nice place to relax and have drinks. I liked how they have multiple tvs to show college games. Service was great as well! Also music was playing and it wasn’t too loud either and the playlist was great!
I’ve been here a few times with the family, and the food has been excellent during previous visits, which is why we chose to return recently. Most of the dishes were great, but unfortunately, the hamburger sliders were severely undercooked. One of the servers (not the one attending to us) took the sliders back with the intention of correcting the raw patties, only to return with them still undercooked. It appeared they put our half-chewed sliders back into the oven or a plate to try to cook them, but they were still raw. We had to tell the server that we did not want the raw ground beef patties. Our actual server was friendly and took the sliders off our bill. We will be returning, but likely will not be trying the sliders again.
Dorlan's, located in the historic South Street Seaport in New York City, is a fantastic spot that perfectly balances a classic pub atmosphere with high-quality food and drinks. I recently went there and was thoroughly impressed, especially by their take on comfort food classics. My friends and I were craving something hearty, and we were not disappointed. We ordered a big chicken sandwich and a juicy burger to share, and both were outstanding. The chicken sandwich was a true showstopper—perfectly fried to a golden crisp while remaining incredibly moist and tender on the inside. It was a generous size and had a fantastic, flavorful crunch with every bite. The burger was equally impressive. It was cooked to a perfect medium, with a patty so juicy and rich that it practically melted in your mouth. The classic toppings and a toasted bun made for a flawless burger experience. What made the meal even better were the sides and drinks. The fries were a perfect companion, hot and crispy, and just the right amount of salt. And the cocktails were excellent. We each had a few different ones, and they were all expertly mixed and well-balanced—they weren't just an afterthought but a highlight of the meal. The entire place has a warm and inviting vibe, and the staff was friendly and attentive. For a spot that feels like a cozy neighborhood tavern but serves up incredible, elevated pub fare and great drinks, Dorlan's is a definite winner.
An oasis while touring South St Seaport. The bar is in a historic building that has real character. A warming place on a cold day to get great beer and shots, and great food. I had the calamari: superb, very fresh and plentiful. While visiting South St Seaport this bar may not be the easiest to find, one block back from the waterfront, but make sure you find it! Great service by Marlene the bar server.
My favorite area of New York is the Financial District and after checking into my hotel I was starving. I was looking for coastal pub cuisine and Yelp helped me discover this great place. I loved the entire nautical vibe and stayed all afternoon as the happy hour crowds loaded in. What a fun place with great service and well portioned foods. Thank you for being my welcome back meal after 3 years of non-travel due to covid. I'm glad your open and ready to celebrate with me. I'll be back soon.
Cool spot at South Street Seaport. To my pleasant surprise, it is a very down to earth Tavern and not touristy at all. The service was good and The Charbroiled Oysters were 😋. I would definitely go back. Have gone back now on various occasions and I still enjoy it very much. The Charbroiled Oysters are always delicious but the other day they were exceptional. They were very plump and flavorful. The staff is very nice. This is definitely my go to when I go to The Seaport. I have revisited Dorlan's on various occasions since my original review. I feel very welcomed each time I go. I enjoy talking with the bartenders and the staff, they are all very pleasant. The Charbroiled Oysters are as 😋 as always and they make a wonderful Watermelon Margarita. Update: 4/23/23. Still love this place. I hadn't gone back since September and the bartenders and the staff still remembered my name. It truly is a great Restaurant Bar to visit in The Seaport.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. The Charbroiled oysters tasted good but were a bit salty. The fries came cold, the calamari had too much batter and was not seasoned, very bland. My husband said his sliders were good. I had the pineapple habanero margarita it was very good.
A pretty decent weekend brunch menu includes breakfast dishes, burgers, soups and salads, and appetizers. We ordered the old bay chicken fingers to split and it was a huge portion, very tasty. The bathrooms were very clean. A bit noisy with TVs showing sports and lots of tourist families hanging out mixed with groups of locals. Didn't have a drink but liked the look of the wine list.
The food was great. Service was slow but friendly. Drinks were very good - had the spicy margherita and the bourbon cocktail - both delicious. Would visit again.
Predominantly bar food with a fresh seafood. We had raw oysters on a Friday night and I was pleasantly surprised at how good as fresh they were. The fried cod tacos were pretty good as well. Our wait staff were great too.
Went for a late dinner after rooftop drinks elsewhere. Food was pretty tasty and big portions. Drinks were good. Had some uncommon german beer on tap. Prices weren't too bad and service was pretty good.
Beside the fact that the waitress seemed to have forgotten about us, the food was good! I had wings, my coworker had calamari, and my other coworkers had the tenders; all of which were devoured. They enjoyed their pina coladas while I had a nice cold Heineken. The couple besides us had frozés that looked marvelous which I'll be sure to come back and try. The decor is dimly lit making the space look small and cozy but it's a pretty nice size place.
Very nice place in the middle of the city. Was very pleasantly surprised by the fried calamari with yellow peppers. Great spin on Italian classic! Tacos were way-way-way-way too hot for my taste, but if you like it hot - that's the dish for you. The reason for my ☆☆☆ for service- waiter never gave us the actual bill. He came with this little device to charge our card, and that's it. I actually prefer to SEE, what am I paying for before charging the card...
Regular bar. Unpretentious and well stocked. Food is okay. The artichoke dip is out of this world. Cod sandwich is way better than the fish and chips, if that makes any sense. Staff is very attentive. Great place to have a couple of beers and watch a game. Place gets a bit crowded but in a good way.
Nice place, good atmosphere. We were sitting outside and every table had a big umbrella so we were in the shade even on a really sunny day. I ordered a burger and it was ok, my sister loved their oysters ( very fresh ) and she loved the fried fish sandwich. Waitress was very nice and let us know about the deal they had ( $10 shot and beer)
Stopped in for a business dinner with my team. The staff were all very friendly and drinks were great. The oysters were tasty too.
The oysters were great and so was the service. Bourbon Smash to start with was good at first but didn't hold up. The basic old-fashioned came through (for two buck more). The salad...aka dressed arugula and one radish slice...was sad. I ended up dredging my fries in the dressing that remained. My steak tastes past medium-rare. As is the case in most restaurants, it was too dark to tell. All said, good place. If you're price conscious, stick to beer and a shareable, and you'll be good, but the oysters were worth the extra.
It was late at night when my wife and I were near the South Street Seaport and we couldn't believe we were in NYC, as literally all the places in the area were either closed or fully booked with no seating available. Unfortunately, It's like a ghost town down there due to the pandemic. We called Dorlan's Tavern and they were able to seat us right away. This place was just what we needed for a late night meal. We were able to pick our own table and chose to sit outdoors. Nothing fancy but nice to not be cooped in. Ordered Old Bay Chicken Tenders, Fried Calamari and French fries with a few drinks. Never tried Old Bay seasoning on anything but seafood, so this was a unique and surprisingly delicious experience. The calamari was good also but we were left with a lot of fried batter at the bottom of the plate. Drinks were okay. I hear they have a great Brunch menu so may visit again some day.
We were starving and this place was within walking distance so we chose it and stopped in. Very relaxed atmosphere and mostly bar food but it is pretty delicious. I ordered the calamari for an appetizer and the shrimp tacos. If you are just wanting a place to have drinks this would be a great spot!
I came with low expectations on a Sun eve, and walked away impressed. Solid 4.2 here. They started me off on the flavored house popcorn, within the first 2 minutes, which set the pace for my speedy (roadrunner) experience. The mango avocado salad appeared in like 60 seconds after ordered, was mostly arugula with a smattering of mango and tomatoes - Dorlans must have felt the recent tariff hit on the avos so really hard to track down, or maybe just didn't have time - good healthy taste overall. The fish n chips was very good, good beer batter and fresh fish. Now if I could only replace those skinny fries with British fat fries... Overall, recommended. I'll be back to sample more of that menu.
We went here after walking around the pier for dinner. Ordered the calamari, fish and chips and al pastor tacos. Also got a spicy margarita and a beer. We sat outside since I had my puppy with me. The server was nice to bring out a separate container of water for my puppy to drink. The tavern wasn’t busy at all so was surprised that it took some time for us to get our food. Other than that, food was good and was a nice night to eat outside.
Good place for a drink or two on weekends with friends. We went on a Saturday and we're expecting it to be packed, but it was at around 50% occupancy. We got a table easily and were served on the table. We tried oysters and couple of drinks. Oysters were not great but good (we had high expectations). Drinks were made well.
Dorlan's has a nice environment and ambiance to it, but when it comes down to the food and service. The service was lack luster with us waiting some time to be served. Then when the food came, flavor was all but present. Very bland and unenjoyable. The drink that I ordered was also very light on alcohol and tasted very bland. All around okay experience for the price, yet not worth it if options are available.
It's located at the heart of the seaport by pier 17, got both indoor and outdoor seatings. We ordered burger and fried chicken sandwich, both were great w good portion of crispy French fries, you can also substitute for sweet potatoes fries if you like. I was very happy w my chicken sandwich, it was breaded, juicy inside and crunchy outside. I wouldn't order cocktails there, we had a margaritas and dollars lemonade, both were watering down, lemonade was too sweet w barely any alcohol in it. For $14, the bartender didn't do justice to the cocktails.
The food was just ok- The Burger is super tiny like a Wimpy Burger from Popeye cartoon as pictured here... My boyfriend's water had black stuff in it- which was gross... Staff should check glasses prior to serving dirty water for sure! It was very dark inside the bar but luckily saw the black stuff in his glass. So wouldn't reccomend this place- sorry. Waiter was not that friendly either. 👎🏼
The bar looks nice. Their happy hour consists of a half dozen oysters and a glass of wine for $15. Not any wine, but they have two or three kinds. The buffalo popcorn chicken was meh. Soggy rather than crispy. They have charging outlets under the bar, so that's a big plus if you need to charge your phone.
Couple. We got their “famous” charbroiled oysters, mozzarella sticks, and some wine. Oysters are actually really good, nice sauce. But 5 for $18? Kinda underwhelming. Mozz sticks are supposedly home made but nothing special. Sav blanc wine was decent. Ok place, so 3/5. Might come back to try some more seafood items and beers.
Unfortunately, the oysters we ordered were bland and likely not fresh. None of the oysters were attached the their shell, and none of the shells had an adductor muscle intact. The likelihood that a dozen oysters came clean off the shell when shucked cannot be that high, so it's a possibility that these shells are being reused to serve frozen oysters. Otherwise Dorlan's is a standard tavern with decent food and a nice atmosphere.
The decor of Dorlan’s Tavern & Oyster Bar is authentic tavern style and outdoor seating is currently available during COVID-19. The staff was nice and served everything quickly. The food options on the menu were limited. We had 2 dozens of oysters, shrimp nacho, fries, fried chicken tender and mozzarella sticks. Overall, the food was decent but not outstandingly good. Our favorite was their oysters, which were fresh and flavorful with 3 different sauces. We didn’t like their comfort food and it definitely was overcooked, especially the fried chicken. It was dry and hard to chew.
Was kind of disappointed with this place. Hopefully next time will be better. Went in to get away from the hot sun only to realize it was cooler to sit outside since they didn’t have the AC on. The “ice” water they gave us was warm. The montauk summer ale I ordered in a cab was warm as well. The old bay chicken tenders were pretty good and I’d definitely get them again. My buddy ordered chicken wings and one of the wings still had a feather.. also only 6 pieces for the order which seemed a bit light. Was hoping for a better experience hopefully if there is a next time it will be better.
Stopped by here late at night since most things were closed. Was super packed and the lady was trying her best to serve all the tables. Fish n chips ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: actually surprisingly good for bar food. Fish was crispy with a solid layer of batter and tender fish inside. Fries were also perfectly fried. Fried calamari ⭐️⭐️: came with banana peppers which is a bit odd to me. For how well the fish n chips were fried, I'm surprised at how sub-par these were. Also came with an obscene amount of marinara sauce for how much calamari there was.
We were starved after touring so we went down Front st were we found this place. I had the roasted chicken sandwich with fries and my partner had the nachos with veggie chorizo . The roasted chicken was partially dry but the fries made up for it . The veggie chorizo wasn’t really chorizo flavored but more just taco flavored. Our waiter seemed like the only one working there and was very overwhelmed .
Food was tasty & lived up to other reviews here. Had fish & chips, tacos, burger, chicken tenders, wedge salad, & calamari. The Guinness pour was perfect, though not with a fancy finish. The only problem was the fish & chips order came out 30 minutes after everyone else at the table had finished eating. This after asking no less than 4 people, including the waitress & kitchen staff, about the order. We were offered something on the house as an apology, but too little too late as we were ready to leave. We were not comped anything on the check. We will be back in the city again, but likely will not return here to spend money. Plenty of other places to dine.
Charbroiled oysters were the best. Unfortunately, they are not on the menu anymore. I went in and ordered a burger/fries, and calamari. I was standing in the front waiting for my order, I was ignored the whole order came out cold which let's me know it been ready and they just had me standing there for absolutely no reason. The calamari was greasy. The music was good 8/10, service 2/10 will revisit no thank you
The double burguer was good. However the French fries were soggy and not very warm We requested 2 times condiments such as ketchup and other and never arrive. The service is not good for the the price that they asked. This is an overpriced place that charge you extra because the location. I won't go again and don't recommend
Wings not too bad nor too dry. Nice and big. Burger too messy because it looks like they just hose entire thing with their special sauce which is cross between mayo and some salad dressing. I don’t really understand why they do this as if they expect you to eat with knife and fork since eating with hands is just a really messy ordeal. I shud be able to hold burger without any grease or sauce on my hands. Its double patties feel more like a 1/3 pounder. Patties not smashed but quite thin. I’m disappointed since there are much better burgers nearby. Fries very average as well. The free popcorn served warm beats all the paid food I had. Place really packs around 5:30 pm but surprisingly dies down at 6 pm. It’s your average bar so it’s very noisy and loud. I’m sitting next to crowd who are screaming their conversations to offset surrounding noise. Just too loud and uncomfortably warm for me. Not really my vibe.
Definitely avoid. Bartender had horrible attitude. We ordered a dozen oysters and 3 cocktails to begin with. We then had another round of wine and beers. Still attitude. We were told that they shut at 11:30. We closed our tab at 11:20 and thanked them. It turned into 11:45 and they were taking brand new orders of food AND drinks from other people while also ignoring our attempts to place another order. Horrible people. Not accommodating.
I FOUND A LARGE PARASITIC CRAB UNDERNEATH MY OYSTER. I’m lucky to have found it before putting it in my mouth, I saw LEGS STICKING OUT from underneath and I knew something was off, I pulled on it and out came a translucent crab with a large red line down the back. Their response was extremely non chalant , they told us it’s been happening with other customers (??????) and all they could offer was to replace it with a singular new oyster… Also, the rest of the oysters had lots of algae and other weird looking debris in them, which I do NOT want to be eating. I want the oyster, not the whole sea. Please do not get the oysters here, these did not seem to be safe to eat at all, luckily I did not get sick but there was definitely a good chance of it. The wait staff was also very slow and inattentive despite the place being around 50% capacity
The food at this restaurant was excellent, but unfortunately, the service was shockingly poor. The manager, in particular, seemed unable to smile—even at children—which made for a very unpleasant atmosphere. Despite being two families of four, not a large group by any means, and the restaurant being almost empty, we were unfairly charged a group tax. He never give me the bill and he didn't told me... We were quiet and respectful, yet this experience felt unnecessarily cold and unwelcoming. Honestly, it was a very disappointing experience overall, despite the great food.
I had the worst fish and chips at this bar. The fish was greasy and had a rubbery texture, like it had been fried in old oil. The batter was soggy and falling off in chunks. The chips were even worse – they were limp, cold, and tasted stale. The tartar sauce was watery and had a strange, off-putting taste. The coleslaw on the side was practically inedible, with a sour smell and a slimy texture. The whole meal was a disaster, and I left feeling queasy. Definitely won't be going back there.
My wife, step daughter and I went to Darian’s on a Saturday night. There was one table that was full and couple guys sitting at the bar. It took over 5 minutes for the waiter to come and take our orders. The price for half a dozen oysters was over priced and they had a sea smell which isn’t good. The waiter was rude when trying to explain the menu. What pissed me off the most was the waiter gave himself a 20% tip and labeled it large party. 3 people does not constitute large party and nothing on their menu says that. Recommend going somewhere else in the area
Passed by the restaurant this past weekend (party of 8). We were seated promptly so I’ll give them credit for that, but the food was horribly bad. Burgers were undercooked and watery… Ordered bone-in wings and they had the audacity to bring out boneless wings. I was told afterwards that they didn’t have bone-in wings. Really? The poor waitress attending to us was also attending at least 5 other tables…so we had to go inside and ordered drinks a ourselves few times. She then proceeded to leave the premises for the day without informing us. The next waiter taking care of us was not any better. Long story short, save your for the money and go elsewhere. Thanks
Strongly unrecommend. Absolutely terrible "Buffalo chicken wings in Dorlan's sauce". Incredible hot. No mention of extremely hot food on the menu. The waiter didn't mention it either. Never back.
They didn't give us silverware, napkin and water until l asked! That waitress very careless and unprofessional. Hamburger same quality as Checkers or White Castle. That hamburgers doesn't deserve to pay $18. That touristic area, and they always try to screws tourist people. Because, they don't think people can come back again. Service : 1 star Hamburger: 1 star Cold fries : 1 star Price : 1 star
