Yummy parfait! I had the yellow yam, and the staff told me the yellow one is less sweet. The yam was still warm, which was very nice paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Underneath the ice cream were some crispy cornflakes and crispy yam pieces as well. I was surprised that it wasn't heavy at all. Apparently all the yam is imported from Japan, which adds an authentic touch. Overall, a really delightful and unique dessert experience!
I was super excited about this dessert spot, and it exceeded my expectations in taste. I really liked the custard brulee baker potato. The potato skin also reaps benefits and is edible. For the parfait, it is a fun experience to see the potato squeezed out.
It's a little pricey but the dessert is very yummy yet simple. I do recommend the honey butter, but you can also enjoy it plain for pure yam goodness. Eat the skin for health benefits, and it's also carmelized and yummy too. The "soft served" yam is squished yam over some ice cream with a big chunk of yam at the bottom and some cornflakes for that toasty crunchy texture, so good! These yams are so sweet and delicious but not too sweet (thats a good thing!)
Shockingly good. Not too sweet. The sweet potato makes it taste rich and creamy, like cheesecake, except healthier. Good vanilla ice cream and I like the chunks of candied sweet potato underneath. The crunchy corn flakes adds perfect textural contrast. Really feels like eating a lighter cheesecake parfait. I'm happy I found a dessert that doesn't hurt my stomach!
This was such an incredible tasty treat to end the night. My sister and I stumbled upon happy yam on our last night of our trip in NYC and we are so glad we did. This is one of the most unique desserts we’ve ever had and it is a very popular treat in Japan. If we’re not mistaken, this is the first shop in the United States to have the machine that makes those fun “noodles.” The owner was such a gem and truly a ray of sunshine. If I ever make my way back to New York, I know who I’m visiting first.
The most amazing little hidden gem. Both the desserts we got were exceptional. The beniharuka with custard was melt in your mouth and so comforting in the snowy weather. The purple silky paste parfait was so fun with layers of ice cream, sweet potato, and crunchy corn flakes. Ended up getting a Yakimo (roasted sweet potato) to take home at the end.
SO YUMMY. I love japanese sweet potatos and eat them at home but these ones are so much better and prepared really well. I tried the purple parfait, crème brûlée baked sweet potato, and the honey butter sweet potato. All three were soo delicious, but I especially loved eating the honey butter sweet potato with the parfait so I could have more potato with the ice cream c: The parfait has some sweet potato but I needed more because it was so good so eating them together was perfect. The crème brulee was good too, but I think the highlight is really just how high quality these potatos are, so that kind of masks it just a bit!! Still so yummy though.
Tasty Japanese yam treats. The baked Japanese yam with honey butter is soft and melty and delicious. A little bit of a wait but worth it!
Never had a dessert like this! Went in for the parfait which I genuinely enjoyed. Loved the combo in textures of the corn flakes. Loved the cream in it. Light sweetness and ties everything together. Truthfully the spaghetti like yam flavor on top was something I would have been okay without but everything was a pleasant and nice mix. Didn’t expect to enjoy the sweet potatoes in my dessert as much as I did! I’d want to go again to try their brûlées and their drinks as well
It's a very cute dessert. We got the purple parfait - I love sweet potato so it was great for me. The taste is just lightly sweet with a crunch from the cornflakes. It's a bit pricey but a nice treat. My friend recommended this place and I would too. There is a small seating area.

If I could give this place 10000000 stars I would. The owner is incredibly kind and the food is top tier! I feel like Americans truly don’t understand the power of a Japanese sweet potato. Will be coming back!
I really enjoyed the purple parfait!! The yam was soft and tasty! It was a fun experience to try it in a spaghetti-like form. This treat is perfect for the summertime because of the cold ice cream! I also enjoyed the crunchy cornflakes and potato chunks at the bottom. This delicious treat really brightened up my day! 💜 The person behind the counter was very respectful and kind. And the overall store vibes were very cool and calming. I enjoyed the music while I was reading a few museum pamphlets.
This was an interesting dessert option after dinner. Loved the subtle sweetness of the yams & the ice cream was refreshing on this hot day. They were cooked to perfection & tasted buttery soft. This spot is upper tiny with a few seats indoors and a few right outside. It took a little longer than normal b/c there was 1 person working, so they were taking orders and serving.
Hi - Hello Yam! Thanks for bringing this cute dessert here. It was super fun and I love the purple color so much. Yes, it is more on the expensive side, however I am happy I have tried it. Good luck with your business.

Prices have increased to roughly $17 for a parfait. But the yams are certainly tasty! It seems that the purple yam flavor is more popular than the yellow one. There was also a limited edition matcha parfait when I went, but I was informed that it would be sweeter than the purple yam parfait (which was a little puzzling to me because isn’t matcha suppose to be slightly bitter?)

Cute concept of what’s already popular in Japan. I felt like everything was ok but extremely overpriced. The parfait was tiny and the sweet potato crème brule was also small and not as picturesque as they seemed on the menu.
Have mixed feelings about this. The purple yam dispensed as spaghetti noodles was fun and it tasted delicious and not overly sweet. It was nicely balanced with a sweet vanilla soft serve and crunchy cornflakes as well as a few chopped up pieces of yellow yam. The actual concept and product is very good. The downside is the size and also that there are a lot of empty pockets in the already small cup. I felt like after filling up the bottom with crunchy cornflakes and the yam pieces, they could have packed in the vanilla soft serve and given more of it. Lastly, there was just one employee who was nice, but liked to hide in the back a lot. I sat inside the store eating my parfait and during that time, had to reassure several customers that there was a person there working and would get to them soon.
Satisfying parfait with the variety of textures from the sweet potato, ice cream and corn flakes! However, it was a very small portion size for the price ($16) even for the city. The wait was also quite long for us being the only customers there on a Saturday evening.
The service is good and the store is very small with not much to sit down. We got the purple parfait and custard brulee baked. I love the parfait only the size is little little for the price there's ice cream and cornflakes in it and it's very delicious. The baked is good but nothing special. It is lightly sweet, healthy dessert bit overall nothing I'm too impressed over.
$17.42 after tax for a purple yam parfait / ice cream dessert. It does taste good, but I do not think it is $17.42 good. The yam is creamy, the ice cream is soft, and the cornflakes in the bottom is crunchy. Would I buy it again? No because I feel it is overpriced.

I’m disappointed. It seems that baked sweet potatoes are having a moment. And honestly I love them. I got the basic butter option which was also the one recommended The taste was fine but my issue was how it was served. In the pic they show a whole potato. And I got slices. This seems misleading especially for the price paid and how much a sweet potato costs. Sadly it’s on my no list. My bf went to the ice cream shop next door and I wish I had done the same thing. Just seemed like a waste of money

$16 dollars for a single scoop of vanilla ice cream with some yam on top. $17.62 after tax. This price is actually despicable and there is ZERO justification for it because yams are, famously, a very inexpensive food. Tasted fine but please save your money.
