The Buccatini pasta was so damn good! Everyone on the staff was so helpful and friendly. I want to go again! The tartuffo for dessert with coffee, was a perfect ending to be meal.

Delicious food. Great service and it’s amazing you can hear the great music from fellow neighbor restaurants. Also their cocktails are delicious.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it only gets better and better. The carbonara is (& always will be) my favorite dish! I have ordered it every single time, and it has never disappointed, except when they altered it during Covid / post-Mario to a spaghetti and pancetta version that tasted nothing like the original and I was crushed! However, I went back recently and was delighted to discover that they switched the carbonara back to the original version (with bucatini and guanciale). Now, it is just as delicious as before! My only complaint is that you can’t order the carbonara for delivery or take out, but I understand why. Simply put, the carbonara is outstanding and I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area!

Excellent service, food and ambiance. On our way to Angelica for a movie and stopped by Lupa for dinner. The wine (I got the Vermentino) was amazing, the food was great and the service was exceptional. We sat at the bar and Diego, our waiter, was just amazing. Will definitely come back!!

Great place that's off the beaten path. The waiter was very helpful with suggesting things from the menu. The food was exceptional and the drinks were crafted beautifully. I would definitely go back.

I had been planning my family birthday celebration for at least a year at Lupa. Five years ago, it was cancelled because of Covid. Ean kept us informed and up to date on what we needed. Fourteen of us sat in the front of the restaurant and out of the way of the busy restaurant. Arancini and Burrata with roasted peppers were the antipasti and they were excellent starters. Three different pastas- my fav was the Strozzapreti with short ribs but others loved the pomodoro & chili. The last one rigatoni with gricia was simple yet tasty. I requested one gluten free plate and they served all three with in house made Gluten free pasta. My daughter said it was the best she’d ever tasted! Branzino with roasted cauliflower and other vegetables was cooked perfectly. The NY strip with rapini awesome. We needed a slight break before the dessert cheeses and bread. Two and a half hours of eating rich yummy food was a lot! The tiramisu and chocolate covered ice cream was for dessert. Gelato and sorbet for the gluten free daughter and granddaughter. The head waiter and waitstaff were outstanding throughout the whole three hours. We would highly recommend this restaurant for date night to a large family get together. Thank you Lupa!

My girlfriend and I showed up on a busy Friday night at 7:40 without a reservation and were greeted by a friendly hostess who told us she didn't have a table. We sat at the bar and would have been happy there but before we got a drink we were whisked off to a table in the back (much quieter than the bustling front room). If the weather was a bit warmer, we would have taken one of the nicely set tables out front. The waiter and bus staff was perfect as was the pasta we ordered. Next time in Soho we will be sure to book a reservation.

Food in this restaurant is a very good Italian Roman cuisine. Nice ambience. Romantic . Italian songs are played at (like Mengoni, Negramaro, Cremonini ….) and you can see Lupa statues who remind immediately to Rome. We had branzino, oxtail with gnocchi, pasta with short ribs and Brussels sprouts . Everything was great and delicious. Service was excellent too. I’d come back for sure. Very happy with my dinner.

Pretty good Italian food with lots of options. Genuinely love the atmosphere and set up of the place.

The Pasta Tasting Menu is probably the best $49 you can spend in the city. Wonderful food, great service, tasty cocktails and a great place to spend your evening.

Restaurant that I’ll highly recommend to anyone, mainly due to the food but also the staff. I had the strozzapreti with short rib and was blown away. Pasta was cooked perfectly and protein with red sauce was delicious. Perfect dish. Crispy brussel sprouts were very good. I liked the wine. I’m not a connoisseur of wine, and they recommended a good affordable red wine.

Great food. Waiters know what they're talking about, and if not sure they're honest and check it for you. Portions are a little bit too big maybe.

Cubicle depth allows for comfortable short/long-distance stance & cubicle placement within restaurant (down a passage to the left of the kitchen) affords a good degree of privacy. Excellent basin height with well-moulded brass taps that afford the user strong two-handed purchase for high velocity occasions. I posted a glowing review to the Reddit group and found many other members of the community who were similarly effusive... action videos to follow. (Also enjoyed the most delicious stuffed zucchini flower I have ever eaten).

A wonderful dinning experience to include delicious food, great service by Lyndie and management attentiveness by Nancy who made right with our gift card. The restaurant was packed by 6p over the holidays. I will return!

Tried to go to Carbone across the street but they were booked so we ended up here. Seeing it was the first Italian food I had in the city the expectations were high. Seriously though, is there a better neighborhood than Greenwich Village? Seems like I always found great restaurants here. The service was exceptional and she paired the perfect wine to go with the beef ragú. All dishes across the menu looked fantastic and both of us were very satisfied. I actually came here for lunch and they were able to acomódate seating for 2. I’m sure they are booked solid for dinner any night of the week.

I was recently introduced to this lovely restaurant the last time I was in the city. Normally I don’t expect too much out of an Italian restaurant, although I always enjoy the food and drinks. This place was different; the food was incredibly flavorful and…cozy. I think that’s the best word for it. It just felt like the best home-cooked meal you’ve ever had. And it was obvious from the first bite of their bread. I’m not a bread fanatic , but I can’t stop thinking about Lupa’s. Great food, wonderful service, and a memory I will cherish.

I came here on a very rainy day and the place was incredibly full. It was for lunch. I was seated immediately though because I had a reservation. They have lots of small tables in the restaurant and currently have plastic screens up to divide the tables. They also have an outdoor space in case you don’t have a reservation. We tried the Frito Misto which I did not like very much it was a little bit on the tasteless side. I did however enjoy the branzino which was excellently made, the meatballs, as well as the beef oxtail. I would recommend all three of these dishes, The meat was excellently prepared and they all turned unique flavors and were delicious. I will definitely come back for a meal another day and to check out their dinner menu.

We dined at Lupa to celebrate my sister and her husband’s wedding anniversary and my husband’s birthday. We had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was great and we loved everything that we ordered. Looking forward to returning here.

Had lunch here for restaurant week with two friends. We all loved it; the bread was warm and toped with sage, the olive oil fruity, and we all throughly enjoyed our appetizers and main meals. Everything felt fresh and light, and the service and environment were great. I remarked how I hadn't been to a good Italian place in a while, so if that's what you're looking for, check Lupa out!

Couldn’t get into Carbone, so we ended up here and so worth it!! We ate at the bar. Bartender was attentive, with great recommendations on food and wine. We had the spaghetti carbonara and saltimbocca agnolotti, shared the escarole salad and crispy cod. Salad was light but flavorful. Focaccia bread was fluffy and savory, but don’t eat too much! Pastas were both great although I favored the saltimbocca agnolotti bc I’m obsessed with sage. Crispy cod is like a grown up fish stick, which might make it sound overpriced, but it’s not. Perfectly coated with what seems like panko, and I wished there was 3x the amount of accompanying red sauce. Come hungry and trust the bartender!

My all time Italian favorite. You should make a reservation woth at least a week of time ahead. You might be able to get a space at the bar too os you didn't have a reservation. Amazing space for a date or high end food lovers

The best prosciutto in NYC! Highly recommend pasta with cheese and pepper and gnocchi with sausage. Didn’t really like broccoli and pasta with clams. Great wine selection!

We ordered the charred octopus, the black spaghetti with seafood and the cacio e pepe - would recommend the first two more! The service was really great and attentive. Only feedback I have is to lower the volume of the music slightly but everything else was great!

Went there for a weekday lunch, the food was so delicious! We had the burrata, Brussels sprouts (so crispy!), and the short rib ragout. Theboacijg of the meal was really good and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Great food. Great service. Quite busy, but that shouldn't be a deterrent. Try the pasta and wine pairing. You will not be disappointed.

Came here because a friend said it was head and shoulders better than Carbone across the street, and we were not disappointed. From the cocktails to the foccacia bread all the way to the tartufo for dessert, everything was excellent.

Authentic cuisine from Rome. Real taste. Cacio and pepe is fantastic and if you happen to be there on Saturdays, you must try the Abbacchio al forno... not easy to find in nyc, also for the taste. Great selection of wines. Staff is nice and very attentive. Make sure you reserve a table, it gets crowded.

At Lupa they do a great job of bringing a genuine mix of Roman flavors to New York with a menu that highlights the freshest ingredients cooked in accordance to Roman standards. I stopped in one afternoon to try their lunch menu which at $25 is great value compared to other restaurants in NYC. I sat outside on the small terrace to enjoy the sunny and comfortably warm day, taking in the relaxing atmosphere while I drip my fluffy focaccia in some extra virgin olive oil. Before the food arrived I needed a drink and went with the Sassi Sour made with Four Roses Bourbon, mint, lemon and Lucano Amaro which really added the experience. A plate of sardines, pork shoulder and beets was a very satisfying start to the lunch menu, as colourful as they were flavourful. For the main I just had to go with the bavette Cacio e Pepe, one forkful and I was transported back to Rome, the pasta cooked to perfection. To go with this dish I chose the Fellini cocktail made with Giffard apricot liquer, Berta Amaro, lime and prosecco, a sweet balance to the peppery pasta. For dessert, I was delighted to have the Lupa Tartufo with its rich chocolaty textures and cool ice cream center was the best ending to my Roman lunch, really look forward to going back!

Up(per) scale Italian restaurant. Ambience is very nice and servers are professional. Menu is in all italian so get ready to translate or just ask your waiter. Bread with oil and sourdough with fava bean spread were both complementary. Didn’t try the wine (I know, a crime) but the other drinks and cocktails were nice. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was really yummy, but the pasta sealed the deal. Honestly, one can’t recommend any dish here because they were all so good. But I will recommend the pomodoro and chili.

Truly one of my favorite restaurants in the city !!!! Food is consistently excellent!!! Always sit at the bar (Mondays bar man is Carlos) - service is superb (such a rarity these days). Must haves:octopus, beets and … …PORKCHOP!!!!!! THE BEST !!!! Beanzino (pictured) is great too !!! (I wanted to take a picture of porkchop, but forgot - was busy eating it!!!

This place is amazing. We had the scallops, codfish, prosciutto, gnocchi. Everything was cooked to perfection. I have a new favorite place in New York. The service was amazing!! This is a top notch place I highly recommend it!

The food was phenomenal, our only regret in this place is getting full. Everything tasted so amazing, I highly recommend it. Ask about their fava bean dish, or their forrotto primavera, definitely the favorites of the night!

Amazing from start to finish! I find the pasta tasting menu a bit too overwhelming and repetitive but the very kind staff helped us design a selection of pasta and meat dishes to cater for our appetite, 100% recommend!

Place is a vibe. One of my first choice Italian restaurants to visit in NYC 🫶 Lovely bar atmosphere to dine for one and warm service from the bar staff! Can't go wrong with the menu but if you smell the Short Rib Ragu and you didn't order it, you'll have order envy. Whatever the burrata special is, definitely start with it.

V
Vani

If I could give 10 stars I would. Everything was phenomenal - food, wine, service, and ambiance. We did the vegetarian pasta tasting menu (no substitutions allowed as we don't eat beef or pork) along with the wine pairing. The food absolutely delicious- it was clean, bold, authentic, rustic, and flavorful. The staff was very attentive and explained the food/wine. It was very busy but all the dishes were timed correctly. My favorite dishes was the squash mezzelune and cacio e pepe. We ended off with a light pear sorbet which was absolutely delicious. I definitely plan to return to try the other dishes. We saw other dishes around us which looked amazing.

AMAZING: drinks, appetizers, mains, desserts and service, everything! Opened in 1999 and still busy and creating delicious quality dishes - they're doing something right! Best burrata appetizer and vongole pasta even compared to restaurants in different regions of Italy. Tip: reservations recommended in advance especially for the 6 to 9 pm peak dinner time. Some seating available for walk ins. If you're a tourist, go in the beginning and near the end of your trip - because you're going to want to go at least twice!

Great vibes for dinner with friends, good wine, and delicious food. Honestly, I had one of the greatest nights at Lupa with some of my friends and I always seem to get the same experience and good energy when I am there. Food and wine selection was phenomenal. The fried artichoke flowers, carbonara, and muscles lemon linguine are some of my favorites !

GG

I tried their Tartufo, cacio e Pepe, burrata, pesto beets. The pasta and dessert were my favorite. Cacio e Pepe was creamy and delicious. The spot gets super crowded during Friday night so reservation is a must. They also have a lovely outside seating space. My friends tried the crispy duck and loved it. Staff is friendly too. They have wine by small carafes and I liked the wine I tried.

Walked in on a Saturday night and was greeted right away, we picked our own table in the corner which was great. The service is by far the BEST. My glass never went down more than half way with water! The Somali helped me with selecting a wine (great recommendation) we order the octopus and a spaghetti dish. They even sent over a complementary tray of sliced meats. The service and food is just amazing, I almost wanted to hug everyone on the way out lol Thank you!

Had the tasting menu. Casio e Pepe and Amatriciana were both the best I've had outside of Italy. Remarkable dishes. Get there early. Got in at 6 and scored a seat at the bar. Was a mob scene when the meal was over.

Great food! The duck is juicy and has great flavor. Also loved the black spaghetti with seafood. Also the artichokes were a pleasant surprise. If you want a good meal and good service, you’re in the right place! I brought a bottle of wine and the cork fee was 70ish, but that’s ok

Excellent Italian restaurant! We started with a wonderful Vernaccia, a little known white wine from Tuscany. Then we had prosciutto with buffalo mozzarella and golden raisin jam which was an absolute delight. We ended with amazing gnocchi that rivals some of the best in Italy and delicious, authentic bucatini Amatriciana with guianciale. Everything was great, no complaints.

The food and the service is fantastic at Lupa! Five stars service! Our server was amazing and the atmosphere incredible, it feels like in a tratoria in Rome! the octopus and Arancini were absolutely good, and the wine list it’s out of this world! We had a perfect table next to the wall.

Very nice, old school Italian spot! Loved the dim lighting and vibe of the place, only thing I didn’t like was the music playing. But as for the food, enjoyed the focaccia they bring out! The wine is enough for a glass and a third. Really liked the rigatoni gricia and the paparadelle was handmade and very light! For dessert we loved the affogato and the tartufo!

Came for a nice dinner with my girlfriend while we were in NY last summer. Our meals were both delicious and it was great to try some Roman style Italian food. The arancini & crispy brussels sprouts sprouts were both excellent as well as our main dishes. Definitely holds up in a city filled with many excellent Italian spots and would recommend a visit here.

All around great experience, this Roman inspired restaurant offers ambiance, quality service, and tasty food. Pairing the wine came easy with their Sommelier, server was attentive with a splash of personality, he offered his “best dishes” and when ordering them it was certain he was not wrong. Short rib ragu, the pork chop, meatballs, all was to be desired.

Love this place . The wine was giving it. Meatballs tasted like pure meat and it is good quality. Branzino fish was flavourful and seemed fresh. It went perfect with Brussel Sprout. I love how the season this veggie! Cocio de pepe was amazing I would definitely go back to the pasta . Sei Chianti was very easy to drink as it is very light but so savoury. I want to give this place 10 stars for food, wine and dessert. Tiramisu was one of the best ones I have ever had .

Lupa had great service and excellent food! My meal “Spaghetti with Summer Truffle & Grana Padano” was incredible. Cooked perfectly (al dente for me) and the cheese/truffle flavors paired very well. The calamari was great too, but I wish I got the 24 month aged prosciutto once I saw it delivered to another table.

Make sure you make a reservation for dinner because it gets busy very fast! Food was delicious and staff were very friendly. I would love to come back and try some of the other pasta options. Highly recommend the lamb dish which is the perfect amount for 3 people. You can expect to pay around $50-$100 per person (depending on drinks), but the price is worth it. There is outdoor seating as well but I did not see anyone there since it was a pretty cold night.

First of hopefully many visits to this delightfully cozy establishment. Extensive wine list and steady advice for pairings. The meatballs alone are reason enough to return! Portions are appropriately sized. Everything I have samples thus far has been delicious. Very well done 👍

Came for dinner and waited a bit to get seated. Ended up in the dining section. Service was okay. Asparagus appetizer was a little over hyped but the cararecce pasta was pretty amazing. Would come back again but not racing to get back.

Could have been the most authentic Carbonara in the City if only they didn't put parsley on it! (I am Italian, from Rome, and I promise: authentic Carbonara is not made with parsley)

V
Vlad Grygorenko

Overall experience was great. Amatriciana deserves a whole separate review. Guanciale was cooked to perfection, not burned, but melted. Best I’ve tasted outside Rome. Fresh prosciutto prepares you well for the main course. Surprisingly, escarole salad was boring and flat just like hostess and the sommelier.

Very cute little Italian eatery. Heard many people say this is their favorite Italian restaurant but don't think this lives up to the hype. Won't go back again if I can choose

M

Love the atmosphere and the vibes! Our server was very attentive and lovely, they even gave us ice cream on the house which was delicious! The only problem I had was how salty the pasta was, as someone who enjoys the flavors of a dish more, I found it difficult to be satisfied the little notes of flavors in the pasta due to how the saltiness overwhelmed my tongue. I just wish its just less salty...

C

My friend and I had the pasta tasting with wine pairing. Great portions. In general, way too salty. I understand certain elements make it salty but this was a little bit too much. Still good though.

Place is very cute and the service was amazing. However food was very average, some even being subpar. The lobster pasta had no flavor and lacked lots of sauce. But the spaghetti & clams and bucatini were good.

Very competent and friendly service. Knows every detail about the food and drinks they are serving. Food was absolutely delicious but a little bit too salty for my taste. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Went for date night. Last minute reservation open. Ordered drinks: wine and cocktail. Appetizers: white bean soup and escarole salad. Both were tasty. Pasta dishes: spaghetti pomodoro with chili and babette Cacio y pepe. Also good and tasty. Entrees: oxtail and quail. Also good. Nothing spectacular in terms of flavor. Very savory dishes; rustic. Service was good. Ben was our waiter. He was polite, knowledgeable, and quick. Overall, was a nice night out.

Small restaurant but delicious Italian food. The prosciutto is thinly sliced and well cured. The bolognese was very flavorful and noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. The squid ink pesce pasta was good, but it only had calamari in it. It should've had a variety of seafood, traditionally. We had a very wobbly table and they refused to reseat us despite the restaurant having many other tables available. However, our waiter was very nice.

The prosciutto appetizer and panna cotta dessert were my personal highlights of my dinner at Lupa. Definitely a good classic Italian restaurant but not sure if I would come back.

I love Italian food and couldn't wait to try this restaurant. When I arrived I parked on the street not too far. When I walked in, I was greeted by James the host, and he was very nice. The restaurant was so cute! Adrian was the bartender, Marco was my server, and Ian was the GM. They were all great! I started with an espresso martini, which was great. I then had an amazing red wine. For my appetizer, I had the Arancini di Mozzarella, and it wasn't bad. It was nice and cheesey. For my meal, I got the Black Spaghetti with Spicy frutti di mare. I really enjoyed my entrée. It was very different and melted in my mouth. I really enjoyed the food, drink and service!

Italian mainstay in the Village, my first visit. Wonderful server and pleasant ambiance. Appetizers were good and well prepared but pretty ordinary. Good cocktails. I had the cod, not a particularly Italian preparation but very tasty and fresh. Points deducted for the contorni (side dishes), lackluster, chewy and frankly kind of weird. The place was packed at 8 pm on a Monday night so they must be doing something right.

I visited Lupa in NYC with a group from work and had a great experience overall. The service was excellent: attentive, knowledgeable, and made the meal feel seamless. The food was solidly good, with the meat and fish dishes standing out as the highlights for me. Everything was well-prepared and flavorful. I’m not a huge fan of pasta in general, so it’s hard for me to evaluate, but I didn’t find the pasta dishes particularly amazing. They were good, but nothing that wowed me. Overall, Lupa is a great spot for Italian food, especially if you enjoy well-cooked proteins. The ambiance was welcoming, and it's a solid choice for a group dinner. Would definitely return!

Our recent lunch at Lupa Osteria Romana on Thompson Street was a fantastic experience, perfectly timed before catching the 8 PM show at nearby Blue Note. The outdoor seating offered a lovely setting for a relaxed meal, as seen in the photo. We enjoyed several delicious dishes, including flavorful Meatballs, a unique and tasty Spinach with Pear, Panelle & Speck, and a refreshing Beets Salad. A significant highlight of our visit was a special promotion: we received a 50% discount on a bottle of wine over $300. This was a unique offer due to the restaurant's ongoing merger process, making our meal even more exceptional. The service was excellent, and the overall experience was delightful. Lupa Osteria Romana truly delivers on quality Italian cuisine and is highly recommended, especially for a pre-show dinner.

Pastas were great (short rib ragu and orchiette was our favorite, carbonara was skipable) but the entrees were all way too salty (and I like my food salty)! Service was fine but nothing spectacular. It's hard to get over how salty all three entrees were.

Food very mediocre.Recipes all a bit off, octopus way to charred with chemical taste and missing key ingredients that were listed on menu. Carbonara guanciale in very large chunks not cooked correctly (separately) making pasta overly greasy. Charming location too bad. When staff asked how we liked things they were not prepared for feedback and ignored. Could be a very cute place hope they decide to get it together .

I’ve dined here on many occasions and was one of my favorite restaurants. The service this evening was terrible. Waitress never came by to check on us or let us know her shift was over and a new person was going to take over. The hostess has a stuffy attitude as if you’re not worthy to dine there. It’s not a warm and inviting environment. Happened others times with being snubbed. If you're content with being treated poorly then the food is always consistent and good.

Great wine list but a tad expensive. Get an assortment of appetizers. They are great for sharing. The thing ringer here is pasta. Avoid the crispy duck confit. The duck was neither crispy on the outside nor juicy like confit.

No website!!!! Cocktails are great. Wine list in the dying days pre Star takeover is short. Appetizets are great and generous sizes. Mains. Well there were 8 of us so we ate most of them. Home made pasta was a bit watery. Wheat pasta was undercooked. Black pasta and spicy seafood was not spicy. Steaks cooked correctly. But had weird seasoning on them. Duck dry and overcooked, as was the Veal. Overall this exquisite staple needs some attention. Stephen Starr gets to take the helm soon. Hope he does some rehab.

I ordered the bucatini amatriciana. The pasta was cooked perfectly, but the guanciale was undercooked. The onions (optional in an amatriciana) were not diced but cut similar to the Guanciale and seemed to be a filler. The bread was not great, but the olive oil legit. Wine selection top notch and service attentive.

Decent Italian spot in trendy neighborhood. The octopus was lackluster and the mozzarella was average, at best. However, the vast selection of pasta on the menu made up for it and the cacio e pepe was delicious. Also, this place gets the award for the most unique tartufo.

The service and atmosphere were great, but the food fell short. The corn tortellini with lobster and lemon had lobster shells in it, which was disappointing, and the carbonara was overly salty

No hard feelings but I just don't think our bill felt worth it. Maybe I didn't order the best thing. I might try it again but it's not every day I visit NYC or spend this kind of $$ on a dinner. I expected better. It isn't bad! It's good! The service was fantastic.. the wine was wonderful.. the food was just not take all my money good when I compare it with the little Italian places I've tried in Chicago.

Had some dinner here it was really packed but i had outdoor reservations. It’s warm in the outdoor shed. My waitress was super kind with recommendations and accommodating with my entrees. The entree I wanted to order had dairy in it which i could not have the waitress told me i could get the bolognese pasta instead. Ordered the potatoes as starter. The bolognese pasta was really good actually not overwhelming. My friend ordered the salmon with broccoli but they didn’t want the broccoli. When we received the dish it was jus a salmon on a plate with nothing else. I mean understandable because they delivered what we asked for. The service and vibes were amazing though!

It's a beautiful place, with a great service. Our waiter was really nice, attentive and sweet. The food though, wasn't that good. The cocktail we had was refreshing, and I liked it. We got as a starter something I couldn't say what it was. Tasteless... The octopus was good, but the gnocchi was not. It was covered with gravy, which was too thick and the taste was weird. The desert was good. Also the atmosphere was good. If they change the menu a bit, it can a great place to go.

I am glad people like this place because I am being generous with 3 stars. We ate outside which was lovely and the service was pretty good. The food on the other hand was not exactly the same. I did enjoy the bread and appetizers however strip steak and dessert had no flavor (unfortunately I am not exaggerating… no flavor). It was pretty busy so hopefully this was a one time occurrence.

Lupa has a warm, rustic charm that transports you straight to Rome, though the tables are packed a bit too close for comfort. The service was friendly and efficient, striking a nice balance between attentive and unobtrusive. The menu had a great selection of Roman classics, which got me excited. I started with the Carbonara, expecting something rich and indulgent, but it was underwhelming—missing that velvety, peppery punch. The Bolognese was fine, nothing groundbreaking, but satisfying enough. Despite the mixed experience with the food, the overall vibe and hospitality made for an enjoyable evening.

We have been going to Lupa for over 12 years whenever we visit NYC. Last night we had dinner were graciously welcomed by the manager on our arrival and were seated where we requested. The waiter explained the special and we were served our drinks. Our dinners were served, which were tasty. A busboy asked to remove my husband’s plate before I was even close to finishing, which left me feeling rushed. Then the waiter puts the check on the table before I was finished and never asked if we would like coffee, dessert or an after dinner drink. Where Lupa was always a solid go to and we always recommended, I don’t think we will be returning because the food was mediocre compared to what it use to be and the service was so rushed. And may I add there were several empty tables and we were not taking a long time to eat.

What happened to Lupa? I have been going to Lupa for more than 10 years but last night felt like it was a different place. The staff seemed uncomfortable and uninformed. It took forever to get a waitress at our table. She recommended a wine by the glass and characterized the Grillo and Vermentino as ‘sweet’ (which they are not). The food arrived before the glass of wine. The spinach salad was consistent with prior visits and the arctic char ok. Our main courses however were a complete disaster; the lamb was raw and cold. The pasta was too ‘al dente’ and had more of a cardboard consistency. We skipped dessert, fearing another disappointment.. Overall they were seating people so tight together; they only left 2 inches between tables. Over the years, the well trained and knowledgable staff and the great food would make up for any other discomfort like loud music or lack of space but last night was a great disappointment. Let’s hope it is just a come back hurdle.

Decidedly not good. Not the restaurant it used to be. Very disappointed in the food - and why is Seven Army Nation played twice in one hour? What vibe are we going for? That said, the service was strong. Mediocre meatballs Serviceable all'amatriciana Poor carbonara Ok oxtail on gnocchi alla romana Inedible - I mean really disgusting - brussel sprouts 2 glasses of red, fine but seriously overpriced

The first time I was brought here by my friend I had an immaculate time (2023). The caio e pepe was perfecto. The second time I came here, I brought other friends and was VERY disappointed by the caio e pepe. The pasta was undercooked and they were stingy with the black pepper. The picture was from the second visit. The amatriciana was not bad! Service wise, because we were underdressed and sat us (4 people) outside, they never checked up on us. They did waive the caio e pepe on the bill so I am pleased with the compromise.

Bad service with judgmental servers who didn't even ask if we wanted outdoor seating or indoor even though we reserved a table. Multiple servers came up to us when we first sat down because they had not coordinated their tables. After hearing about the the specials menu we said a dish sounded good and asked to order that and instead of making a note and adding it to our order the server told us that he would take the entire order later when we decide our main course. It felt condescending + instructional-- who wants that feeling when dining at a restaurant? When recommending a wine to us, the server recommended an under $70 bottle while recommending the table next to us (two older gentlemen) a 'just over $100' bottle. I get the wine sell, but at least don't be so obvious about it. (Like other reviews have mentioned, the tables were CRAMPED despite the restaurant only being about half full.) We would have gotten some wine, some appetizers, and pasta, and had a good time and left the 25%+ tip, but the whole experience was so distasteful we just ordered the main dishes. To top it off, the pasta wasn't even good. Definitely not a place we should have dined during a nice summer evening. And that's too bad, because I first came to Lupa a few years ago and had a great time and remember having delicious food. Do yourself a favor, avoid this place and the snooty service and go to any other nice Italian place in the city.

I saw the wonderful reviews and was lured in by the menu and pictures of the promising carbonara pasta with black pepper and linguini with clams in lemon. It all started well with complementary bread and chef’s complementary tuna appetizer. However, very disappointed in the pastas. All we could taste was the salt in both pastas. The pastas were also cooked very al dente. I sent mine back and my son struggled to even eat half of his carbonara. I tried a bit and I can’t even taste the fresh ground black pepper. He also waited for the waiter to refill his sprite. They remade my pasta without any salt the second time and it was much better but definitely did not use fresh lemon. Where we are from in Houston, TX. Sodas are refilled without charge. We were charged $10 for 2 sprites that was in a small glass half filled with ice. I don’t mind paying for good food but this was not good nor would I recommend. The tip option also starts at 20% as the lowest option, I felt obligated even though there was an option for custom tip. In our 5 days stay in NYC, this dinner for 2 at $100 was our most expensive and our worst meal. We were better off eating at hot dog stands or corner pizza shops.

Oh boy.. my biggest let down jn NYC to-date. Given the high Google rating and even a Michelin recommendation I was expecting actually good Italian food. We ordered the tasting menu and the wine pairing, which in my mind should represent the best the restaurant has to offer. The appetizer and the first pasta dish were good, all the rest was mediocre at best. A lousy second pasta with tomato sauce out of a can with some burned bacon, followed by a just okay ox tail that was lacking seasoning, 3 small pieces of cheapest possible cheese you can get at any corner store and with a lot of bread to fill out the empty plate. And to finish off the menu a chocolate covered ice cream that looked like something my neighbors dog could have created... Same goes with all the wines; none of the wines were great, or even really good. For instance they had one white and one red wine from the same bulk producer Cincinnato, which we afterwards discovered were one of the cheapest wines on the menu, retail price for both barely $10 per bottle. Paid $160 per person for this mediocre experience. Needless to say very disappointed!! Summary: food+wines clearly overpriced and just bland. Only good things were the atmosphere, the music list and the staff.

Clearly not the same Lupa. Two waiters- We ask Waiter #1 if they can do a small order of pasta as an appetizer. No, but two people can split one order. Waiter #2 takes our order. We tell him we would like to split an order of pasta as an appetizer. He says that is not possible. Why? Because it takes too long to prepare pasta! That said, though, the food was no longer exceptional either, apparently having gone the way of the service.

Worst carbonara pasta I have ever had! It looked so good in the pictures but all I could taste was salt. My mom’s pasta (clam linguini) was no different. On top of that when I asked for a refill on my $5 sprite cup that was half filled with ice took 30 minutes to arrive. There are also no free refills on any drink except for water.

I am extremely displeased with the service and food from Lupa. I made a carry out order for the ricotta gnocchi and got what looks like leftovers. There is barely anything in the container and it is extremely messy. There was also no bread that came with the order. This was a $30 dollar dish and i expected way more from this restaurant. Would not recommend this place any time soon.

Spent $99pp for the truffle tasting menu. The fist burrata was alright. We waited more than 30 minutes for the second dish. The gnocchi tasted good but it’s being cooked too cold, unusually cold. Then waited another 50 minutes for the steak to be properly cooked and served. First steak was overcooked to well done, literally. Another person got also overcooked steak. Ask the manager to make us new one. Then came a way undercooked, almost raw steak. There is no consistency and quality in the food this restaurant makes. Would not even dine at this restaurant again.
