Excellent cappuccino made with fabulous roasted beans. Prosciutto brioche sandwich delicious. Went with a friend for breakfast who also loved it. Tiny place but staff are tip top.
Real italian pastry. Great.
A very good address for breakfast or a quick gourmet break. The team is friendly. The menu offers plenty of choice and it's good.
Absolutely amazing place, the best coffee we had in NY during the whole week and really tasty cake & panino caldo. Such a shame we found it the last day of our stay in NY, will defo come back next time. Great location, reasonable prices.
Perfect cappuccino and croissant is a tiny place with a few chairs. The real Italian vibe!
Love this spot. We have been coming up to this part of NYC for several years and so happy we found great coffee, pastries and outstanding service.
Gem in the heart of Times Square. This cozy Italian cafe has very capable and friendly baristas, and the pastry selection are amazing. For breakfast I highly recommend the frittata rustica.
Best bread I've had in Portugal ! I'm a baker at a large sourdough bakery in Canada, and was very happy to eat some good naturally leavened bread. Would strongly recommend the seeded whole grain loaf.
BEST latte and croissants in times square area! Latte was so tasty and rich. Had the food as well but it was a bit overpriced and not as impressive but definitely go for.a latte and croissant!
Their latte is great, haven’t found a better latte in the area. Also, their almond croissant with raspberry filling is amazing. High recommended.
Lovely coffee and panini, friendly folks and a nice patio
The service is phenomenal. They were very nice and remembered me everytime I came in. the raspberry crossaint are delicious my husband loved the everything bagel and their coffee is way better than Starbucks 😄😄😄😄😄if I ever come back to Ny I will definitely come here again
My favorite spot for coffee in the city, without a doubt!! Been going here for few years. Staff alway nice, welcoming and just the Best ❤️
They have very good coffee and sweet selection and maintain a clean cozy outdoor seating.
Very tiny place but they have great coffee and very good muffins (I’m not muffin lover). I was also surprised how many office people were stopping by.
I was able to visit this establishment 2/4 days I was staying in NYC. By far the best coffee shop I’ve visited. For coffee I had a macchiato and cappuccino. Both were so authentic to the Italian style. The coffee was smooth and rich. I had 2 different pastries for breakfast. One was their style of a cinnamon roll. It had raisins, apricot jam and cinnamon in a pastry swirl. It was delicious! I could eat that every morning. The second pastry I had was a orange zest, ricotta stuffed puff pastry. The crunch in the outside was out of this world and the zest of the orange with the creamy smooth ricotta on the inside was melt in your mouth. Something else that I could eat all the time. The staff were very polite and kind. Smiles on their face and enjoyed interacting with the customers. I can’t wait to come back and eat at this establishment again.
Amazing local coffee place in the area! Great coffee, pastries, sandwiches and salads. My personal favorite is Girella, pastry with raisins. Their coffee is also great with plenty non-dairy alternatives and decaf! Not to forget to mention - staff are very friendly and efficient at all times, even when it’s very busy!
The coffee is so good!! Found them as a meeting point. Turned out to be a great find for me and will be my go to coffee spot when I’m near Columbus Circle!
My daughter goes to school nearby and we stop at this cute Bakery some mornings to get a nutella bombolone as a special treat for her. Great food, great staff, great service. They are the best!
Delicious, perhaps the best sfogliatella I've ever had. Almond croissant also rocks. Wish the capp was a little hotter, but it's very tasty.
Surprisingly great and reasonably priced coffee in the Theatre District. I came in for a quick coffee and ended up with a well made cappuccino that actually reminded me of Italy, which is hard to find in NY. I'm happy to know this place exists when going to see shows in the area.
Had a wonderful cappuccino there this morning and am already looking forward to my visit again tomorrow. Very friendly staff, extremely fast service and wonderful pastry offerings in the case (even though I didn’t indulge. Yet!). Best part of the hotel we chose is the location of this lovely coffee shop!!
Their coffee is sublime and pastries are excellent. The cafe has a small outlet for to-go orders just one door away from the main cafe itself. I have ordered coffee and pastries several times from the outlet, and I don't know any other places in the neighborhood where you can order a croissant and have them fill it with anything you'd like. I ordered a croissant that they filled with Nutella, and it was delicious. Anytime I am in NYC, I try to stop by this place. If a small outlet could have a Michelin star, I'd vote for them to get two, because this place is most definitely worth a detour!
Believe the others! This place nailed it! I stopped in to get my morning coffee and breakfast sandwich. I had a small coffee and Coronetto con uvo (croissant with egg) at the cashiers suggestion I added Prosciutto and Asiago. The sandwich was freshly made with real ingredients and twice the size of anything Starbucks offers. Whether your visiting from out of town or a local, this is a great place to visit.
The cappuccino was delicious! I also got a caprese panino that was amazing, especially the flavor of the tomatoes. You can tell that the quality of the ingredients is great!
Best latte I've had in Manhattan so far. It's at least on par with my local coffee shops in Seattle. They didn't scorch the milk, or overheat the shot.
My italian hubby is so particular with his coffee and i wanted to surprise him for his birthday breakfast. Good thing i found this caffé & bakery in google and i ordered for take out. He was very happy! We simply love the cappuccino and patries. Highly recommended coffee bar in Broadway!
I ordered their Panino Caldo and was looking for a simple iced mocha with almond milk, and theirs was quite good. Service is very knowledgeable- don’t try to order an iced macchiato here haha.
Love this caffè!! They have excellent coffee and cappuccinos, amazing sandwiches, salads, and sweet treats. They also have a white sauce vegetarian lasagna that’s out of this world. I’m a meatasaurus and I like it better than the meat lasagna. ($10.75) They currently have this insane hot chocolate that tastes like delicious warm liquid chocolate pudding that’s not too sweet. Get the small. It’s enough. But it’s so good. Great service and great food & drinks. What more could you ask for?
Small spot with just a few tables, but really cozy. The coffee is great—strong and smooth. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel at home. Chill vibe, perfect for a quick break. I’ll be back for sure.
Amazing Italian caffe shop. Great lattes and their pec (prosciutto egg on croissant) is wonderful. Friendly staff. Absolutely love this place.
Great little spot. Coffee was excellent, great authentic Italian sandwiches/paninis.
My bf and I ran into this place while on our way to a show. It was so good! I was skeptical bc not all NY coffee shops are good and we came in here without reading any reviews, but I was very happy with it. I recommend the apple pie latte.
I was looking for a classic espresso bar in Manhattan since some claim to be, are too commercial, or simply are more focused on the flare and flashiness of coffee. This place is none of those, and has become my go to spot anytime I am now in midtown. Got a cortado, and I had to go get another since it was just too good to pass up. Also ordered one of the turkey sandwiches. Get it toasted. Delicious. A very no nonsense take on just making good tasting coffee. My drink didn’t even have latte art and it tasted better than any other place I’ve tried in nyc. Go check it out.
Ordered apple pie latte and straciatella pastry, both delicious.
Really.good coffee for a times Square cafe. Small and limited seating but good paninis for grab and go
I’ve been here a few times, the coffee is always excellent and the Italian pastries taste authentic (and delicious). More importantly, everyone who works here is super nice. I managed to misplace a single AirPod after I walked out of the place, and the very kind gentleman who took my order help me searched the store for it, and even a bit outside in the freezing cold even though he didn’t have a jacket (thankfully I found it about 15 feet down the block from the place). Thank you so much, see you next time!
Cozy little Italian coffee shop. Great coffee, delicious sandwiches and pastries. Avoid the chains and try it out here!!
Great espresso and very tasty pastries! Moreover, the owner proposes a 50% discount just before closing to prevent wasting, a very great initiative. Definitely a super good address!
I will dream of the day I get to come back here! I live in Tokyo and there are many great coffee shops here. I keep searching for a decent one in NYC and finally found a GOOD TASTY coffee and bakery in Masseria!! Great flat white, latte and cortado. Ham cheese Panini was awesome (im sure their name is more refine than this) But this cafe is unpretentious, not pack as the trendy spots around. they have counter seating and semi outdoor with a heater. This is great for quick bites, great savoury and sweet options. also coffee are creamy! (not watery like the rest in NYC)
Cousy place two tables and a small counter.. most people pick up and leave. Loved the fact that they still serve using ceramic cups, as i have paper cups. Ordered cappuccino and tried a slice lemon cake that was offered for free.. the order was delicious. I loved coffee flavor. It is to my liking. Definitely coming back again. I will try their sandwiches.
Didn't try any of their baked goods (although they looked good!), but the latte was great! Coffee-forward without any bitterness or burnt-flavor. It is a VERY tiny shop, while still being quaint with lots of charm. There is also a nice little outdoor patio area which provides additionally seating.
Very quaint little caffè. I ordered a latte and a croissant and they were both amazing. The shop owner was very sweet and the atmosphere was welcoming. If you're looking for good coffee definitely stop here
I got different items here. The croissant is crispy and soft but interestingly this is the first time I tasted the egg when having a croissant instead of butter. I also got the Nutella tart since they ran out of the apricot one that day. The shell is thin and with a crunchy texture which is outstanding. Good choice for chocolate lover but it was a little bit dull for me. Last, coffee is great!
Tiny cafe with reasonable pricing on coffee. My Americano was tasty but relatively average.
Great selection of pastries and hot panini. I particularly liked their mini lemon tart and tiramisu. Reasonably priced for the area. Limited seating.
Hold in the wall breakfast store. Absolutely delicious. They will make you anything you’d like. Be specific about the way you would like your coffee. Highly recommend!
Staying at a Times Square Hotel and didn't want Starbucks or Dunkin, found this little place nearby. Enjoyed hot and iced coffee and muffin, with many other choices available. Good service. Many locals coming and going while I was there, which is a very good sign. Definitely choose Masseria over Starbucks or Dunkin.
I ordered the ricotta cheese cake, raspberry tart, lemon meringue tart, and the cannolini (I think?) Ricotta cheese cake - rich dairy cream flavor, do not mistake this for a NY style cheese cake. It's less dense, no tartness, and very tasty. The crust is nothing special. I'd get this again. Raspberry tart - this is a jam-style tart, the filling is basically pure raspberry preserves with seeds. The texture was a little too much like eating preserves out of a jar for my tastes, it's pretty dense. Also a bit too sweet. Very concentrated raspberry flavor though Lemon meringue - classic, textbook lemon meringue. Good balance of tartness and sweetness in the lemon curd, the meringue was very stable and didn't weep overnight. Perfect. Cannolini - the outside is a very airy dough of sorts, similar to a croissant but it's crisp and breaks into chunks rather than shattering. The filling has a strong hit of lemon which is good but the ricotta doesn't shine like in the classic cannoli (shoutout to Boston's north end). They are filled to order though which I appreciate. The guys at the counter were nice and the prices were fair. I think the cheese cake was 4.50, tarts maybe 3.50? and the cannolini was $2
Very limited bakery options and overpriced. Coffee was just alright. But location is good !
Good pastries but not very eco-friendly: we stayed in but were given single use cups; plastic plants outside. Coffee ok but not amazing
Pros: food and beverage quality; sandwiches are good, healthy choice of apple and orange juice. Turkey panini was the best for our table. Cons: coffee is average, hot chocolate tastes like syrup. Service is average but not great, place is small, music is loud.
Average small sandwich/ coffee shop. Expensive( small caprese sandwich $15) with ok taste. Convenient to theyers
Not bad just that they play there spanish music very loudly honestly should be playing italian and any other language music on low
Really nice bakery items, especially liked the focaccia. Prices are reasonable. The croissants/cornetti are good and not too sweet. If you just stepped off a plane from Europe, you’ll be disappointed. Despite the taste, the consistency isn’t great. Location itself isn’t great either and staff not super friendly.
Service was great. The place is a little tight, but depending on the time , you can manage to find a cozy corner to have your food and coffee. I’m a little disappointed with the Panino Caldo, as you can see from the glass cabinet it looked quite good and when they reheat it, it looked like a melted mess and was really flat. It’s not bad, just it does not justify the price and appearance in my opinion.
The lady serving the coffee were very kind and sweet. Unfortunately, the coffee was terrible. Ordered two cappuccinos. Both very bitter and sadly had to be thrown out. The pumpkin bread was delicious.
To the owner of this shop: hire staff that is trained to sell your products. I asked what kind of tea they had, twice, and the person behind the counter insisted in responding "if you tell me what you want, I'll let you know if we have it". Needless to say, I didn't order any tea. Note that teas are for sale, but not available on your menu, which is why we asked. When my friend asked what milk options they had, this employee insisted on providing the same response. We walked out without making any purchases. That is revenue lost. There is plenty competition around your business.
We arrived at 7:15PM on Friday to get a coffee before going to a show and AFTER we paid for the coffee my daughters went outside to sit down and I was told rudely that they were closing and we couldn’t stay. The website shows their hours as open on Fridays until 8:00PM. To top it all off the coffee was awful. Do not go here.
Honestly, terrible service. I waited 30 minutes for my food which is ridiculous (my friends both got their food and were done before they started making mine). Apparently they forgot about my sandwich. So when they finally acknowledged me and remembered that I had ordered food, they put on two other people's food in front of mine anyway and when I finally got mine it was wrong. This is a skip.
Look, this is one of my favorite spots but I was given the rudest attitude I’ve ever experienced for absolutely no reason. I asked a very polite question and then she kept interrupting my order and was not even the person taking care of me. I don’t understand this and it was completely unnecessary and uncomfortable. I was very hungry from working and running around all day on a Sunday and am anemic. I just needed something quick to refuel and didn’t have much money at that particular moment. I’ve spent a lot there and that is no ones business. I will make a five star review later when they redeem themselves. But this was really bad and I don’t think in line with the business I know.
Come here all the time but no more the new AM team are soooo SLOW and rude. The need to bring back the staff working before. The new girl who doesn’t speak good English at register is so rude and the Latin guy working now in morning is so slow and doesn’t know his coffees. Locals stay clear unless u wanna wait
I've been living in the Ritz Plaza building for four years and have given this café multiple chances, but the experience has been consistently weird. While the coffee itself is great, the staff's incompetence and rudeness make every visit frustrating. Examples of their repeated failures: Ordering two large coffees, getting only one small coffee—how hard is it to listen? Being charged incorrectly, with random price changes that don’t match the order. Rude attitude towards non-whites. These issues never happen at Starbucks or Dunkin. Train your staff properly—basic customer service and common decency shouldn't be too much to ask especially in a diverse NYC neighborhood.
I’ve been to this cafe a few times - they always give a small discount to people who are residents of the building nearby. I came with a group of 4 people: my 2 roommates and my dad who was visiting. My dad ordered a coffee and asked if we could get the resident discount. The female employee replied, “They live here, you don’t!” We thought she was joking, as it seemed to be sarcastic at first. She then asked if we wanted to order anything else, but my roommates and I didn’t want anything at that moment. When we didn’t order anything else, she looked at my dad and said, “Well, too bad.” And punched in the coffee order without the discount. Now, I don’t mind paying full price and so understand that some places have strict rules on their discounts. However, this could have easily been explained in a kind manner. The employee was incredibly rude and extremely entitled. She continued to turn her nose up at us and roll her eyes while the male employee was making the coffee. I was appalled by her behavior and had to stop myself from making our entire group walk out without the coffee. A small discount for the father of somebody who lives next door (when I, as the resident, was standing right next to him) doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. And mind you, my dad partially pays the rent so he is nearly a resident himself. I have gotten the discount for my friends before and never had any issue - but I have never seen this employee before. She entirely ruined the atmosphere. As I mentioned, I have been living nearby in their partner building for years. I have visited Masseria Cafe a handful of times, but I will never be coming back. It’s a shame that she treated us this way, as it is such a convenient morning stop for the residents. I’ll be letting my friends in the building know about this incident and posting it on the building’s resident forum as well. Her behavior was unacceptable. Unless you’re wanting a sour start to your morning, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for coffee and pastries.
