11/5/22. Carb loading for the marathon tomorrow. Food was sooooooo goooooood. I got the spaghetti and a side of meatballs. It comes in two separate containers as its two separate dishes. I ate everything. It was delicious. Highly recommend. The food is authentic. The atmosphere is cozy. Although I got takeout, the restaurant has a nice mellow, friendly cozy atmosphere.

Was nearby and found this place - made a reservation and came in to a very pleasant surprise. I polished up my gnocchi (hope this pic is a good indication of how much I like it). What put this over the top was the extremely warm service by our server.

Next to Heaven This is indeed one the best Italians ever. Not only food is fantastic and flavor authentic but personnel is super friendly, helpful and effective. Damien, in addition to bartending took care of me with nice suggestions and prompt service. Beer, wine and food all authentic and absolutely delicious. Finally, place is cozy and beautiful.

Quite dine-in with good atmosphere. Got the gnocchi, the polpette, and the dessert special - all were delicious. Great service and great food, don't sleep on this place.

Small cozy restaurant with big flavors! The trenette al pesto doesn’t look like your typical green pesto dish and I thought it was the wrong order at first. Each bite has a nice al dente texture and a distinct pesto and tomato flavor. I haven’t tried that combo before but it really worked out well and I absolutely loved it! The mushroom fettuccine was also not bad. Comes with LOTS of mushroom!

We had very large party of 15 and reservations ahead of time upping to two wheelchairs vs one. It was cold outside and we came inside as you normally would with our line up of guests. After waiting for several minutes the hostess told our party of 15 we had to leave the restraunt and wait outside! Obviously the hostess never negotiated moving a wheelchair in thru double doors, let alone backing out with two people over 80s into the cold to wait! Just as I started thinking on how to do as the hostess reqested, the table was ready and I was so relieved. We made it along thru the tight spaces to the back of the restaurant and the large party had a wonderful meal. Thankyou

The place was really wonderful. The atmosphere intimate, the service was excellent (people were extremely attentive, professional, and kind), and the food was simply delicious. The presentation of the food was tasteful and the ingredients very fresh. The pasta was of prime quality, and so was the mozzarella. The drinks were delicious, too. I would recommend to any Italian connaisseur. Romantic site, too.

Excellent service and food. The waitress gracefully dodged or son asking if they have mac and cheese. She recommended a great bottle of wine. My wife is "very very happy" after a long day of touring. Excellent place even if you have kids in tow.

One of my favorite Italian spots in Manhattan ! Always love coming here, the food is homemade and fresh and the service is great as well. 4.5 stars because they still haven’t added back specials due to covid but I will give a 5 star regardless. I hope they eventually start having specials again!

Amazing! I was there a bit early and caught the staff meeting prepping for dinner. The staff speaking Italian, laughing and having fun was beautiful to hear. I had the Burrata for appetizer, Spinach Ricotta Ravioli, & Affogato for desert. All were excellent & the prices reasonable. Reminded me of my Sicilian grandmother's home on Sunday when I was a child. I can't wait to go back and try more!

Found this great Italian restaurant hidden away on 39th across from a couple hotels. I didn't have high expectations going in but was pleasantly surprised. The place was busy on a midweek night so reservations are probably a good idea. Service was quick and polite, the food came quickly and was very warm. The complimentary bread came with a dip that was outstanding. I ordered the gnocchi which had excellent texture - not too hard or mushy. The meat sauce on it was plentiful. The panna cotta dessert was also excellent. The price for the food was reasonable. Definitely recommend eating here if you are in the area.

Very good low key spot! Although it was really expensive, the appetizers and the meals were very one of a kind. I never had boar till I came here, and it didn’t disappoint!

My wife and I were walk-ins. From the outside, the restaurant has a lovely, cozy atmosphere. We got in and were pleasantly surprised by the great, easygoing service and the food. Everything was fantastic! We had some carpaccio, arugula, caprese salad, and mushrooms with fettuccine. I highly recommend it!

This place is amazing, very attentive and friendly staff. From what I can tell everyone is speaking Italian, it's the real deal. Great White Russian. The seafood pasta was great, don't be fooled by the picture of the portion was plenty. I'll be back.

The entree was absolutely delicious! It came with three pieces of bread to enjoy with the stew. I would get this again. This was the perfect pick me up after a day on a plane. The tiramisu was good, but not sure if it was my favorite.

Stopped off here after visiting the edge. Couple from the uk looking for a non mass commercial authentic Italian and we were not disappointed! We had a few starters… much recommend the spinach and goats cheese side it was amazing! Mains were also perfect. Husband has monk fish special and I had a lasagne and it just melted in my mouth. Fantastic service, great atmosphere. Considering the proximity to Times Square the price was also good. Highly recommend

We only went for the dessert. The creme brulee was delicious. The dessert wine that goes with it was amazing. Service and ambience was remarkable. They even have some sessions of piano playing for a added touch. Really enjoyed this place

Fantastic spot! We loved our meal and the service. The steak and lasagna were 10/10, not to mention the lentils that they serve with their bread is amazing. Bravo to Roberta for her awesome and friendly service! :)

First time at a Michelin star restaurant and boy it did not disappoint. I was delighted by the service and food. The waiter was acutely aware of everything on the menu including the special. The abeyance was terrific and the price was just right for that amount of food. Just Whoa WoW!

Very cozy and romantic atmosphere. The staff was wonderful! I was recommended the ambrosia wine and it was fabulous. Not too dry or too sweet. The food was amazing! My picky eater of a son loved the steak we shared. My husband had the lasagna. He wanted more cheese in it but I thought it was fine. Overall it was a great experience and the new york vibe I wanted to have while visiting. My only regret was not trying the burrata or the dessert.

C
Cindy Hsu

The bread is very soft and tasty. We ordered Ravioli Di Ricotta, which tasted creamy and astonishing; and also ordered Gnocchi AL Ragu, which is also great. The two reason I rated 3 were the space was too tiny and not very comfortable because your table will be very close to the other table. Very noisy since lots of people there. In addition, the size of food is quite tiny.

G
Gabriel Giella - AmalfiFlavors

Totally perfect food, cozy atmosphere, and charming hospitality. You can tell there are people from Italy behind this establishment. Each dish—the almond pesto with homemade pasta and the ravioli with sage butter sauce had a perfect subtlety of flavor. Perfectly balanced and delicious from appetizer to dessert. This is also a great location—don’t let the temporary scaffolding in front of the building hide it!

The wine list offers a great selection of Italian reds and whites, and the server was knowledgeable in helping us choose a bottle that complemented our dishes perfectly. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the whole experience felt like a little slice of Italy right in Midtown.

Very good casual Italian restaurant that is open late, midnight! I liked it so much that I went here twice in 2 nights, granted my hotel was very close by. Out of all the things ordered, the best was the pomodoro spaghetti! They also have a great selection of wine. For dessert, tiramisu was just perfect! Very cosy ambience! Friendly staff.

Probably closer to a 4.5 but rounding up to a 5. We came here for dinner before a Broadway show and enjoyed our apps, entrees and dessert! Everyone we interacted with was very friendly. A place always gets bonus points from me for some free bread and this one came with a lentil olive oil dip!

The place has a very country Italian vibe with waiters talking in Italian accent as well. I enjoyed the vibe. Food was delicious, good portions and fast service. Tried their cocktails, which was not sweet and well made. Fettuccine and gnocchi was amazing. Also do try their tiramisu. Went on Saturday night, 10 min wait without reservations. Highly recommend making reservations. I definitely recommend this place. Also it is a Michelin star restaurant.

T

Started with the Polpette con Crostini. Amazing ragu and the meatballs were like my Nona’s. My daughter had the Gnocchi Al Ragu and they melted in your mouth! I had the Trennette Al Pesto. Trennette is definitely made fresh and the balance with the basil. Garlic, EVOO and almonds left my palette wishing I could eat the entire dish but we had to leave room for dessert. Daughter had the chocolate mousse special and of course I went more traditional with the Pana Cotta All'aceto Balsamico. If you want excellent Italian food with a cozy old world feel, come here. Make reservations and you won’t be sorry!!!!

What a great find. I had the( Spaghetti Fatti In Casa Pomodoro Fresco)house made spaghetti in red sauce with garlic, tomatoes and basil. Also got the (Tagliere Pugliese)Italian meat/cheese board. Both were amazing. Pasta was perfectly Al dente. Bread is served with a caper “spread/sauce/tapenade” it was also amazing. Small place, great food, wonderful ambiance.

The ingredients they use here are very fresh. The vegetables remind me of the way Chinese vegetables are cooked. Everything was delicious. From the cheese and vegetable special to the tiramisu. The ice cream is made in house and the staff are very friendly. It feels like a lovely home.

What a wonderful evening, aside from the overall atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant. The staff members are very friendly and our bar tender Mano ( very skilled ) made us a speciality cocktail. Had great conversation and left us wanting to return for round too very very soon . In addition to being here in this fabulous Italia Restaurant, I enjoyed one of the best conversations in a while with a very good friend. In my book 10/10 Thank you !

Ate here on our trip to New York a few years ago. The food was delicious and very authentic. It was a small venue but I honestly enjoyed that more. It had more of a cosy feeling. The staff were great and attentive, well worth the trip if you're going to New York soon.

Food was delicious. Service was great. Atmosphere was warm and inviting. We were seated in the alcove, at a tiny table, which seemed VERY closed in. We asked, and they moved us to a front window table, which was very small but much better seating arrangement. Food was delicious. Ravioli with sage butter was suggested by the guy at the table next to us. Great recommendation. I had spaghetti with ragu sauce. Delicious. Highly recommend this place but make reservations.

Was really glad to have stumbled here by accident, as our original restaurant plan was too packed! We sat at the bar which was way more cozy than expected, and the bartender recommended some awesome wine and other choices to go along with the meal. There were also more offerings of sardines and anchovies than I had expected for a small restaurant, it was a very pleasant surprise and highly recommend these dishes to anyone that comes here!

C

Work lunch with the team. It could not go any better! Authentic flavors, the dishes are assembled in the way you would expect: right ingredients, simple and tasty. The service was nice, and the atmosphere was cozy. Highly recommended: Orecchiette, Fave bean puree. I would not order the bruschetta again as it's just 2 pieces and costs more than 10 dollars (not worth it and you can easily make it at home). Cannoli are made at order, which is how it should be when you go for Italian cuisine.

Great food, lovely place and service. I should say it’s uncomfortable to sit long due to tiny space and wooden chairs, but the foord is gorgeous. You wanna come back every year for it. I tried the cod fish, lsagna and alfredo and loved all.

This is actually what they mean when they talk about a hidden gem. Quaint neighborhood spot with excellent food. Not sure what to order or stick between two options, just ask. They won’t hold back. Meatballs and lasagna are a must. And oh yeah, kitchen takes orders until 11:30 pm!

Ate here on Monday 17th November 2025. Warmly greeted on arrival even without a reservation. Had wonderful home made bread and a gorgeous lentil dip. Bruschetta, Gnocchi and beautiful pannetone with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. One of the nicest meals I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Authentic Italian Dining in NYC If you’re looking for authentic Italian food in New York City, MERCATO is a must-visit. On my recent visit, I ordered the Caprese salad with a side of prosciutto and paired it with a cold Forst beer, and it was an unforgettable experience. The Caprese salad was beautifully presented with ripe heirloom tomatoes, creamy fresh mozzarella, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of high-quality olive oil with a touch of balsamic reduction. Each bite tasted fresh and full of flavor, showcasing the simplicity and elegance of true Italian cuisine. Adding the prosciutto elevated the dish even further—the salty, delicate cured ham paired perfectly with the sweetness of the tomatoes and the richness of the mozzarella. It transformed a light starter into a gourmet experience. To round it all out, I enjoyed an ice-cold Forst beer, an Italian classic. Crisp, refreshing, and slightly bitter, it was the ideal complement to the fresh flavors of the salad and the savory prosciutto. MERCATO is not just another Italian restaurant in NYC—it’s a place where authentic Italian flavors, high-quality ingredients, and a warm, rustic atmosphere come together. Whether you’re stopping by for a light bite or a full meal, I highly recommend trying the Caprese salad with prosciutto and a Forst beer. It’s the perfect combination for anyone craving a true Italian dining experience in Midtown Manhattan.

Griselda was my server and she was amazing! I love the recommendation for my lasagna with the chili oil. I wanted to try a cocktail but I felt the menu was all over the place, would love to see signature drinks or seasonal drinks. Cozy spot a little warm today but cooled off after sitting a while

10 out of 10!! I also stayed for eight days directly across from Mercato What initially made me want to dine there was the fact that this man particularly cared for his business on a daily basis I mean, from washing down the sidewalk all the way to the street with a big, huge scrub brush to doing his windows the way he cared for his business made me want to go eat. Very nice.

We had a delightful evening at this charming spot! Our table of four thoroughly enjoyed our appetizers, with the prosciutto and melon standing out as a highlight. The octopus was tasty, though slightly overcooked to my liking - a minor quibble. The homemade pasta dishes were fabulous, especially the truffle special, which stole the show. Service was top-notch, thanks to our server, who was one of the friendliest people I've met in the industry. I highly recommend this place - we'll be back!

Food was good and in a convenient location. I surprisingly really enjoyed the gnocchi as they can get a bit boring for me and the fried artichokes were delicious. I don’t think it’s the best Italian food in the city but all-in-all, had a great time with good food.

This place always showed up first whenever I use the google maps to look for a place to eat. So after awhile we decided to give it a try. Was pleasantly surprised. Food was good and service was excellent. Will definitely be coming by again. Just one complaint would be the seating area in the front was a bit too squished. Had to wait till another customer was finished putting in his jacket and then zipping it up (which he had trouble with) before I could get up and leave.

Loved this beautiful little Italian hidden gem. The music was great and it was nice and quiet. Started with three appetizers, a salad, the burrata, and a sausage dish. All very good. I got the Ravioli for my entree, it was just ok. Fishished the meal with the Tiramisu, which was amazing. The server seem annoyed with our table. We did ask several question and took some time to decide, which she was not too happy with. Outside of that, we had a good time.

What a quaint restaurant in the Garment District. We had a lunch reservation prior to a Broadway matinee. The interior has a very old European vibe. Service was very professional and attentive. I did think it was odd that they wouldn't serve us the bread until our fourth guest arrived. Al the food was delicious and ingredients fresh. The serving sizes were appropriate for the price point. Four of us ate for $125 before tip, 4 entrees, 1 wine and 1 coffee. We arrived at our reservation time and were qseated at a table by the front window. It was fun watching all the people pass by. We were the first in the restaurant at lunch time but as we sat there were several large parties arrived. There was a plaque on the wall stating it was Michelin rated. Mercator is an easy walk to the Broadway theaters and worth a visit.

4.3 / 5 is a well deserved score. Authentic Italian charm. Has Michelin recommendations from 2010-2015 on the walls. Tables are cute older wood. Short and tight, and seats are benches with a thin cushion. Atmosphere when busy is fun. When empty, it’s a bit dry, but has charm. Food. Hit and miss. -Polpette (meatballs) skip -Fried Mistura (Calamari, Shrimp, Cod) was - good. Tomato sauce bland. -Arugala / Bresaola - decent, thick cheese, but refreshing -Polpo - octopus, absolutely the BEST -Sausage and Potatoes (Skip, breakfast sausage) -cavateli pasta with pork ragu - underwhelming and worst size pasta ever for texture and visuals) - special fish dish (oratta - like a branzino but not) with capers and lemon butter and cauliflower. But dry and lacklustre. - braised beef ragu dinner was decent. Some people liked with me, others no. After all, fun, busy experience. I liked it but wouldn’t go back.

Honestly a very nice place. Staff was nice and accommodating but my date and I had constant stares from white patrons who have never seen Black people eat Italian. Other than that it was nice, tho I wish the meat sauces offered more pork-free options. Salmon was lovely, drink was delicious. I would go again but sit at the bar.

I think the pasta was nice, though not exceptional. I think a 4 ⭐ here is appropriate. The caprese and bread, otoh, were quite lovely. Overall I'd say 4.5 ⭐ for food, but I think 4 ⭐ is more appropriate than 5 ⭐.

A small, local spot, quintessential to what dining in NYC is all about. We had the octopus and potatoes for appetizer, this was excellent, with olives and cappers. I hadn’t try this before and it was delicious. For mains we had the lasagna and the garlic and sun dried tomatoes pasta. The lasagna was very creamy and rich, it was recommended by our server and it did not disappoint. The garlic tomato pasta was nice but fairly average. I would definitely recommend for a date or family dinner. We will be going back.

It is very popular and I like the ambience of a very tight squeeze to liven the atmosphere. Didn't like the food and wine though. Maybe it is just me. The tiramisu is excellent and I like the way they made it. We paid usd132 for 2 pax (including a 15% tip). If you wish to go, better book in advanced as it is very crowded.

While we were in town we got this our first night, as we noticed they received Michelin stars. We were excited to try the food and they said the wait would be 10-15 minutes. The inside of the restaurant was super cozy and everyone was beyond nice. I was a little disappointed in my ravioli, as I was not only expecting more than five noodles but also was expecting more flavor. My mom on the other hand, absolutely loved the ravioli and didn’t mind the lack in flavor. My husband was disappointed in his fettuccine and said it lacked flavor. My great grandmother enjoyed her lasagna and ate the entire dish, which is unusual for her. The tiramisu was delicious!

Pretty good Italian food. Lasagna tasted as if it was frozen at one time and the salmon was very crispy on the bottom. Reservations are a must if you're eating after 7:30 it seems.

Was there for lunch this Friday and was a litte disappointed. The food was great and the service was good. We were told about the specials and I must say I wanted to try the Puglia food was was swayed by the specials that was mentioned. The butternuts squash soup and the turkey meatballs was very tasty. Regret not checking the price but the young lady mentioned the special but didn’t mention the cost. US$46 for 2 meatballs is a bit more than I would pay. The butternuts squash at US$23 for a fairly large bowl is also too much when the rest of the menu is reasonable priced. My partner’s pasta cost less than the soup. Again my oversight in not checking. But perhaps the staff should inform guests from overseas who may be clueless. I have seen the restaurant many times in my travel to NYC during thanksgiving period but never stepped in. This time I did and I am not sure I will like to go again. I get much value for money in some of the steakhouses in NYC. Service was good but I think the staff need to be upfront and share the cost of the special before it leaves a bitter aftertaste.

The food in general is good, but the bruschetta tasted burnt, for my taste, it was not good. The pasta is very al dente, almost raw, to the point where the pasta has hard parts. The gnocci was wonderful! I recommend.

Gnocchi was 4/5 but they definitely need to work on the service. I understand slow and busy but all the waitresses, except one very nice lady, seemed to be upset and didn’t even say a word serving the food! I don’t mind paying more for the overall experience but unfortunately, this was an overpriced disappointment, especially compared to the nearby restaurants.

The food was tasty, though it leaned on the basic side. They catered well to our dietary needs, which was appreciated. However, the staff seemed grumpy and didn’t look thrilled to be there, which detracted from the overall experience. There was also a sense of being rushed out once we’d finished our meal. Still, it’s a convenient spot to grab dinner before heading to the theater.

I came on a Wednesday night with three other people in early May at 6pm. I booked the reservation on the Monday before. The restaurant is small; there is a large well lit area in the front before a small passageway leads you to a cavernous, but quant dining room in the back. The food at the restaurant was fine. The prices were reasonable for the neighborhood and the portion sizes. The service was attentive and earnest. I did not love the experience, but I also did not have any problem with it. It was fine!

Foods worth every penny, bartender made us feel out of place and will go to sister restaurant tomorrow, was extremely excited to hit this place twice a day because we are here for the weekend upstairs, but will travel for food because our second time here both had some way of screwing our day up, first never came around for lunch kept waving him down for any assistance, and forget it night time display favoritism of who he spoke to, had to beg for the specials for tonight as he gave it to others and not us, was ready to leave and hit the other sister restaurant mid dinner appetizer. Not coming back. 09/01/2022 would be nice to hear Italian music instead of pop, as the menu is in Italian and the food is so nice Italian, carpaccio amazing

Went here for dinner tonight. They sat us at a small table in the front near the window. The place has some cool character to it, with brick walls. Service was okay, nothing special. The food was mediocre. They told us about a special appetizer which was fried dough with sprinkled cheese and marinara sauce. It turned out to be a couple tiny pizzas and was the most expensive item on our bill, $22. What a sneaky move that was. The sliced bread was dry and came with some odd lentil and oil mix in a bowl, that tasted pasty. I asked for butter and the female server immediately said they don’t have any. What kitchen doesn’t carry butter?! The three meatball appetizer I had was awful. Mushy meatballs that tasted like too much bread crumbs and it came with hard dry bread. The rigatoni Norma dish had too hard noodles and lacked flavor. My Diet Coke was 3/4 ice. Needless to say this place is far from authentic Italian food. A total rip off.

D
Dimi Ntarl

The food was decent and the service was good but why am I obliged to pay a fixed 20% service change because we are 6 people? What more do you do for more people? The service charge is a percentage so the 6-seater’s bill will be higher so the service charge will be higher too( cause it’s a percentage). So there is no basis on applying more service charge for more people, it’s stupid and makes no sense

I am a big believer in the saying “if you don’t have something nice to say…” but I also think it is important to share real experiences at a restaurant so that people who are making a decision where to eat in the food capital of the world, can make an informed decision. Forgive the 12 run on sentences and grammar. I really wanted to like this place. The server was excellent. The atmosphere was really ok. There were a couple things that threw us though. My wife ordered a Chardonnay. When it was delivered, it was clear as water. We are certainly not wine aficionados by any means. My wife took a sniff of it and it had the slightest hint of Chardonnay but mostly nothing. She took a sip, exact same thing. I really think they had a drop of Chardonnay left and instead of telling us they are out, they just filled the rest with water. I am not ok with this at $16 a glass (or any price). This set the tone for us. We spent $116.00 for dinner for two and the food was just palatable. With all the choices at your fingertips in NYC, you could do much, much better. You might even get the glass of wine you actually paid for. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else…Anywhere else.

Visited to have dinner for my daughters 18th birthday. I let the host know it was a birthday dinner, she said she would let the waitress know, we were seated for about 20 minutes before anyone asked if we had ordered drinks, the host took my drink order. A few minutes later the waitress came and said "are you ready?" - no hello, no thanks for waiting, no do you want to hear about our special, nothing but "are you ready" - we rushed to give our order. The same waitress had the table next to me with 3 men - that table was greeted, the same waitress went over specials and asked if they had questions... So when the we were done eating the waitress came to us and said "do you need anything else?" - and of course we didn't. We can't patronize business that can't offer the same attention to all customers, regardless of gender or status.

I came in wanting to try this place. I settled for some pasta and mushrooms. I was really hungry late at night after a long day of work. I asked the waitress if she could specifically make sure that the noodles were very soft and well cooked as I liked them soft and well done. She said they were made fresh and were soft. I then said could you please ask the chef to boil the noodles for a longer period of time so that were and cooked well. She then said ok. I ordered some spinach as well. Few minutes later pasta arrived. I was thinking no way this could have been cooked well and sure enough pasta was not cooked well and still on the chewy side. Not only was the pasta not cooked properly as requested but can still be seen by the eye and camera in the dark. Comes down to a few things. 1) Waitress didn’t care and didn’t tell chef 2)Chef didn’t care and didn’t follow orders. Then spinach arrived tasting as bland as possible. How difficult is it to boil the pasta for an extra 5 minutes before you ask the customer to tip you 20-28% for not following a simple request?

Food was incredibly bland, and was something, quite frankly I could’ve cooked up better in my own kitchen. The portion size for both the appetizer and entree was embarrassing, given what we paid. Drinks were overpriced, a dirty martini was the same price as my entree —which makes no sense…and was not even a proper dirty martini. The atmosphere was okay, although our server seemed to pay no attention to our table. When it came to paying the bill and we thought we may be able to discuss our frustrations with our waitress, she really avoided eye contact with us altogether. We paid, and promptly left. Unfortunately, I would not go here again, and was very disappointed as I was looking forward to a delicious first meal after living abroad for ten months, but was not impressed.

Cant call that Italian food I don’t normally leave bad reviews, but this place deserves it. We were in the Hyatt next door, went in hoping for a cozy Italian night out and were met with disappointment at every turn. We ordered a mojito, only to get what can only be described as a glass of flat soda water with wilted mint and barely a hint of rum. Truly one of the worst cocktails I’ve ever had. Soapy? Negroni was OK, how could you mess that up. The gnocchi special was the first disaster—gummy, dense, and clearly overcooked, drowning in a cream, flavourless sauce that tasted like it came out of a jar. The pasta with funghi didn’t fare any better, limp mushrooms, and a strange, bitter after taste left most of it untouched on the plate. The atmosphere was OK and staff were good, but it was cold, to much air-conditioning and fans and a general lack of warmth made the whole experience uncomfortable. It felt more like a rushed food court than an Italian restaurant. We left after paying a bill that was way too high for such a forgettable (and frankly unpleasant) meal. There are too many great Italian spots in town to waste time and money here.

Highly recommended to people who want to get discrimination and uncomfortable memory. Worst experience in NYC. When my wife and I firstly came to the restuarants for late dinner, the first thing greeting me was unwelcomed attitude. The person firstly guided us to the table too close to other people. After I pointed out, after some pause, I was guided to proper seat. It was unpleasant reaction and facial gesture that I've never experienced, so I was not sure if it was discrimination. However, I made sure from another experience. We've ordered two different glasses of wine during dinner. My wife saw a bartender had mixed the wines. She, the bartender, poured the ordered wine to a glass around 50%, and poured and mixed another ordered wine to that glass. The worst thing is.. she saw my wife seeing her, and she just brought the glasses to our table. I cannot imagine how huge my wife felt humiliation. I was working in urgency due to different timeline, so my wife didn't say not to disturb. I should have complained about, and it's regrettable moment by now. I have never encountered this kinds of reactions from other restaurants. Maybe it couldn't be discrimination, just lack of service mindset or morality, but I can see similar experiences on discrimination from other reviews. The funny thing is the food was not bad; one of them was good in that middle. Other servers were kind, except two people; a male (seems as owner of restaurant) and a bartender/waitress. I cannot believe this restaurant still survive among the good restaurants in the most famous city. Hope to make better choice.

This was my favorite restaurant at one time. Now…OMG! It’s horrible. The air conditioner wasn’t working in the back and barely in the front. The ravioli, which was supposed to in a brown butter sage sauce was instead was swimming in a salty, chicken broth sauce. I was seated at a table in front that was crammed in a space not big enough for a small table. My waiter was great! Not his fault the place is drowning. I almost asked for a refund but I didn’t want the waiter to suffer. They served bread with the strangest dipping oil that had cooked lentils in it. Didn’t even have a taste. So weird! DO NOT EAT HERE!!!

I made a reservation and when I didn’t want to sit at the entrance where people are going in and out I was met with annoyance. I saw the hostess point with her lip and talk about me and my girlfriend. I ordered the seafood soup and let me tell you it was tasteless and I feel like could’ve made the same if I boiled crushed red tomatoes and put seafood in it. My girlfriend ordered the mushroom soup and it tastes like honeybooboo’s spaghetti and butter. Would never recommend this place

I’d give 0 stars if I could. My family had a reservation, and the day of we had a family emergency. I called and canceled the reservation. The cancellation policy is to cancel in advance if you cannot attend the reservation, which I did. There was no guideline to how much in advance I needed to cancel, but it was several hours ahead of the reservation that I did this. I was still charged $120. I have attempted to call numerous times to talk about this, only to be confronted by a very rude lady who likes to talk to me as if I am stupid. When I finally got someone to give a message to the manager, I was never called back, like I was told. They are now not answering my phone calls. I am extremely disappointed by this service.

The place is nice and clean... staffs some are friendly and some not. When we arrived and saw the label 2018 Michelin in front of the door we thought we will have a great meals.. but when they brought the bread and olive oil.. the bread was cold.. We asked them to warm and they didn’t want to do it. The seafood soup was too salty, the ravioli wasn’t al dente and the gnocchi too much minced meat. Lasagna and Fettuccine were great. We saw others tables also didn’t have all their meals... so means their foods didn’t so great. If were great everybody will eat all their food. Prices are not cheap for this quality of dishes. You should get better in other restaurants or you can have a better quality. REALLY NOT WORTH IT FOR THE MONEY WE SPENT HERE!!!

Dear Mercato Management, I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the way we were treated at your restaurant this evening. We had a confirmed reservation at 7:30 PM, made through Resy, and arrived at 7:48 PM — only 18 minutes later. Despite this, we were told by the manager that our table was no longer available. What made the situation worse was the manager’s arrogant and dismissive attitude. We waited for several minutes for him to appear, only to be told there was “no table available,” without any willingness to offer a reasonable alternative. Ironically, when we checked Resy right afterward, we could clearly see that tables were available for 8:30 PM, as shown in the attached screenshot. A professional manager could have simply said, “We cannot seat you right now, but we can accommodate you in 30–45 minutes,” which would have been an acceptable solution. Instead, we were treated with unnecessary rudeness and a complete lack of hospitality — something unacceptable for a restaurant of your reputation. With management behaving this way, it’s hard to imagine how the restaurant can be run properly or continue to maintain the standards expected in New York’s dining scene.

I went out with my son last night and the lasagna was flavorless. Store bought frozen lasagna has more flavor. The braised beef that I had was very tough to chew as well. Definitely not worth the price ! The wait staff was very polite and helpful and the martini was delicious. But air on the side of caution with this place

We went to this restaurant because it had several Michelin stars. We had heard of it. We were enjoying my birthday celebration, and at the end it was all ruined. They came ten before midnight asking if we wanted anything from the bar, I ordered a savory negroni. Not five minutes after it had been served, a latino waiter came to the table and asked us to leave in Spanish because they were closing. Yet they did not have the balls to ask the table next to us to leave because they were French-Canadian. We confronted the waiter, he told us he was just following orders. What a shame! Now regarding the food we manifested the bread was not up to par with what one expects in an Italian restaurant, especially in one that has earned Michelin stars. The bread was extremely chewy and unsavory with insignificant alveoli. A nice italian hard crispy crust and large nice alveoli would go much better with the plates offered as with the lentil and caper tapenade they serve. The Orvieto Argillae white wine was perfect. We ordered as appetizers the carpaccio di manzo, the polpo et patate, and the carciofini fritti. We loved the octopus appetizer, we liked a lot the carpaccio. We had the Malloreddus al Sugo di Cinghiale, the Linguine al Frutti di Mare and the Tagliata di Manzo. We enjoyed the three, each on its own merit. Even though it felt the pasta had been microwaved, as it came extremely pipping hot. We were never given the chance to order dessert or a digestive. As I mentioned before we would have had a great experience if the would not have been so rude and racists. This the low number of stars.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We stopped in hoping for a simple meal, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. I asked if I could just have plain noodles with butter (I can’t have red sauce), and they told me they had no way to do that even though they clearly have butter! Instead, the server “recommended” another dish… which was made with red sauce. When we politely declined, we were told we had to pay for a $10 bottle of water that we didn’t even drink. Since we had to pay for it, I poured the water back into the bottle to take it with us — and they gave attitude about that too. As we left, they even huffed when we left a $0 tip after sitting for less than five minutes. The lack of basic accommodation and courtesy was unbelievable. If you’re looking for an Italian restaurant that actually cares about their guests, do yourself a favor and walk three blocks up to Don Giovanni Ristorante. Better food, better service, and people who actually listen.

I love this restaurant: food is super delicious and the portions are generous. I have come here for years. The service has been always good except for today May 15, 2025. We were assigned a table and the menu was handed to us. We were ready to order and ask the food runner if we can order our food; the young guy told us that the waiter was in the restroom so we waited for around 15 minutes. Finally she came and didn’t apologize. Anyway we ordered pasta and fish. After we finished eating we paid and leave her a note saying it was only 10% for the delay. We left the restaurant and she came after us screaming and insulting us. I would like to advice management or owners to select your staff carefully because it’s not fear that an amazing place like this have this kind of employees.
