You'll wonder why you waited. They charge appropriately, treat customers well, and prepare great food. Staff provided attentive service that felt natural. Carefully selected ingredients make every bite special. Great location and we will be back.
We were walking around FiDi and randomly found this little gem—something truly amazing! For just $14, you get 3 sushi rolls and a miso soup. The taste? So good for the price! The flavor-to-price ratio is honestly one of the best I’ve seen in NYC. I’ve already been telling my friends about it! I used to grab sushi from the nearby Whole Foods, but this place totally beats them in both price and taste. The atmosphere is super cozy, and the service is warm and friendly. Definitely a new favorite sushi spot! #NaraSushi #AffordableSushi #SushiUnder15 #HiddenGem
Nara Sushi/Kumo is a cozy, hole-in-the-wall kind of spot that quietly impresses. It’s small, but the experience feels big where it counts—fresh food, clean vibes, and friendly, attentive service. The anime-themed decor adds a fun touch, and everything inside was neat and inviting. It’s a calm, quiet atmosphere—perfect for a chill meal without the noise or crowds. Food came out looking great. We had a mix of bento boxes and sushi rolls. While the rolls weren’t the biggest I’ve had, at $8 a roll, it’s a pretty fair deal these days. The wasabi? Let’s just say it brought the burn—and I loved it. So many places miss the mark on that little detail. One small letdown was the absence of karaage, which my son was really looking forward to. It’s a pretty common dish in Japanese restaurants, and I’d love to see them add it to the menu someday. As for whether I’d come back? Naturally. Should I be in town again, I’d definitely swing by. This place isn’t one of those “one-and-done” visits—it’s got return-worthy charm, especially if you’re into laid-back spots with legit sushi and good service. Hugo’s Take: 🟢 Not a one-and-done. Would visit again. 🍱 Bento ✅ 🍣 Sushi ✅ 🍶 Sake ✅ Missing my son’s go-to (karaage), but still not a one-and-done. 📍 Nara Sushi / Kumo | Manhattan #FoodieFinds #SushiLovers #NYCEats #LocalGuideLife #NotAOneAndDone
Small and cute place with very fresh sushi 🍣 In the noon time there are a lot of people coming for a lunch break and there are not many table so be ready to wait during this time. But it’s definitely worthy! Service is very quick and nice. We’ve been to Japan and Nara sushi reminds us Japan a lot!
Such a gem of a sushi spot! The fish was incredibly fresh, the flavors were perfectly balanced, and every bite was a delight. The space is small and cozy, which adds to the charm, and the service was just as perfect as the food. If you’re looking for high-quality sushi in an intimate setting, this place is a must-visit.
Recently stopped by for a quick lunch. I ordered the same thing I did the first time I ordered, Beef Teriyaki Bentonville lunch box, spicy tuna roll and the house green tea. A satisfying option, at a decent price. The Bento box includes miso soup or salad; shumai; rice; vegetables and the beef. Unfortunately, my miso soup was far from hot enough. Other than that, service was acceptable.
Honestly, it wasn’t the best. The restaurant didn’t have a lot of people in it, but we were the only people seated right by the bathroom. For reference, we were the only black people in there. We were extremely rushed and was encouraged to order more food, even though we had said that we didn’t want anymore. And there was a general air of aloofness. I’ve always ordered from here online, but my first time in the restaurant has led me to never order from here again. The food was okay, but the service was crappy and the vibes were off.
I love this place however i will have to put it on hold for the bad service i just received, i understand that the weather is bad however as a company you guys shouldn't be offering delivery knowing the conditions of the weather for today. As well as not canceling the order so that your customer could get someone else and being told they couldn't cancel because they wouldn't receive anything but me not receiving my food is fine
Absolutely terrible attitude and service. We were the only customers there, and now I understand why. We left a reasonable tip, but the waitress demanded more, insisting we leave extra cash or she would charge it to our card. Shockingly, after all that pressure, we still added more cash — even though the service was rude and unwelcoming. They kept asking “Are you done eating?” over and over, slammed dishes on the table, and made us feel like we were not welcome. We also witnessed a delivery driver being ignored for almost 10 minutes, even though his order was already ready on the shelf. When he asked why they mistreated him, the waitress told him, “Nobody likes you here. You’re not welcome.” That same attitude was directed toward us too. Reading the reviews afterward, everything made sense — this place consistently mistreats both customers and delivery workers. This is absolutely not how you run a hospitality business. If the staff is this rude and only focused on squeezing tips out of people, maybe they should consider another profession. Updated: The waiter asked our children not to play in the narrow aisle, and we fully respected that. The kids moved immediately and stayed quietly near our table without disturbing anyone. Despite that, the waitress came over and slammed two tables together with such force, irritation, and hostility that the noise scared the children. There was absolutely no justification for this behavior. It felt like an intentional attempt to intimidate us and make us feel unwelcome. From that moment on, the staff repeatedly approached us asking if we were “finished yet,” clearly trying to rush us out even though we were minding our own business. When the delivery driver came in, he was calm at first and only raised his voice later but let’s be honest, the staff started yelling at him and especially calling words first. The way they spoke to him was aggressive, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. Seeing how they treated both the driver and us was shocking. There is absolutely no excuse for this level of hostility. No family, no customer, and no worker deserves to be treated this way. This is not how a business should operate, and certainly not how guests should be made to feel.
