Family of five here dined in for $45 before flying back home to UK. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, however couple of the menu items could have been better with some sauce/gravy in it as they were a little bit dry. Portions were absolutely huge though and great value for money. Atmosphere and appearance inside reminds of a typical HK or Malaysian local no thrills cafe. We only visited this place once but wish we discovered it earlier. We had beef chow fun (10/10), sausage fried rice (10/10), scrambled egg shrimp on rice (8/10), chicken chop breakfast (8/10) and soy sauce chow mein (8/10).

This is where to go for authentic HK style milk tea. Strong, bold tea flavor, not overly milky, not overly sweet. And it doesn't have the "it's boba tea +$5 upcharge as you can get a large, really hot (bring gloves, you won't get a branded hot cup holder) milk tea for under $4. It is the kind of tea place that you would expect older locals to frequent and that's exactly what this place is. It will be busy with locals and seems off the radar of "the gram" and influencers (that alone should get an extra star). It will be a bit cramped. But everyone is friendly from the other customers to the ladies working the counter and making your food.

Affordable and delicious! Feels like you’re aboard when you’re here. This place has the quintessential Hong Kong feel. Highly recommend this spot.

This is a no frills spot but with a menu that offers everything one would expect from a Hong Kong café. I got one of the breakfast sets that came with macaroni soup, an egg sandwich, and milk tea for $7!

S Wan is a diamond in the rough. Found this place close to home and has quickly become my go to for breakfast. Ordered the eggs, bacon and toast A2 that comes with coffee and it’s amazing for $6. Staff is very friendly and place is very clean. Not a lot of seating although not a long wait to sit the times I’ve been there. Will definitely keep going back, and will have to try for lunch and/or dinner soon.

Hole in the wall place. Great for locals. Amazingly homey and comforting food for breakfast. Can't beat the price. Fed 3 people for $20. Definitely get their milk tea. Sooo legit and good. Pork chop had great flavor, and the chow mein had good "wok hei" Go there early to get their chinese breakfast, as they were out by 1030AM on a Friday.

FRIDAY March_15_2024 TIME: 2:04pm My order: (#D2) 2 Fried Eggs, Beautifully Seasoned Chicken Chop(chicken breast)Substitute toast with waffles plus a small coffee. After a long stressful exam I had taken earlier in the day. I was in the mood for a legit breakfast. To me breakfast in the afternoon; should ALWAYS have eggs included on your plate. Everything else is just extra. So as I was walking around the financial district/near Brooklyn Bridge area. I was immediately reminded of Chinatown. Why? Because I was craving breakfast but nothing heavy on my plate. So it’s Friday; I was making my way downtown walking fast through Chinatown; I came across “S WAN CAFE”. I heard through the grapevines of social media that this local “hole in the wall” delicacy serves quite the most unique SUPER AFFORDABLE dishes. I had the breakfast combo (D2) with some modifications. But here’s what I want to focus on. The food was of course absolutely filling with a side of coffee (condensed milk and coffee). But the customer service itself and the actual atmosphere.. wasn’t tooo intimidating; it was a peaceful busy quiet small “quick bite” to order breakfast, lunch and dinner. I believe they do offer door dash and the usually delivery services. But overall customer service and my time there…superb.. Please support the local!!!

A hidden gem in New York City. Me and my wife went here after seeing it in a YouTube video and was blown away with the quality and quantity. We paid a total of $13 and got 2 noodles dishes and was probably the most delicious things we ate during our stay. Would highly recommend anyone looking for cheap eats in China Town.

Most authentic Hong Kong style fast food cafe in the U.S., HK-style milk tea is a must-order, their tea blend is both very aromatic and flavorful made from different kinds of Sri Lanka black tea leaves. Fried rice and fried macaroni or rice vermicelli are among the most popular & heartfelt dishes, prices are amazingly affordable too! Hope this place will live long and stay prosperous, as well as the staffs running it <3

Food is very for the price point. You sometimes have to wait 20-30 minutes for the food during busy times, mostly on lunches during Saturday. Closed on Sundays. Hong Kong style milk tea is a must.

S Wan Café — Chinatown, Manhattan In a neighborhood spoiled with choices, S Wan Café remains a dependable classic—less for theatrics, more for comfort done right. This is where cravings for Hong Kong–style milk tea are answered without fuss, flourish, or apology. The milk tea is the headliner: rich, assertive, and unapologetically old-school, the kind that reminds you why HK cafés still matter. The kitchen knows its strengths. The pork chop—crisp-edged and satisfying—pairs beautifully with that signature milk tea, delivering the kind of no-nonsense pleasure that locals quietly swear by. For group orders or office feasts, their party trays are a smart move: the old-fashioned Chinese sausage fried rice hits all the right savory notes, while the stir-fried mei fun is light, fragrant, and reliably crowd-pleasing. Breakfast classics round out the menu with mixed results. The macaroni soup and egg sandwich are serviceable rather than memorable—standard fare that earns its keep on cold days but doesn’t beg for a return visit. Still, when the craving is specifically Hong Kong breakfast, S Wan delivers where it counts. The room is tight, seating limited, and cash is king—but the vibe is communal and forgiving. Ask nicely, and someone will share a table. This is a neighborhood place in the truest sense: unpretentious, efficient, and deeply familiar to those who know. Final Take: Not flashy, not fussy—just a Chinatown staple that understands the assignment. Come for the milk tea, stay for the pork chop, and order the party trays when feeding a crowd.

Was craving for HK breakfast and this place delivered. Especially enjoyed the pork chop and milk tea. Macaroni soup and egg sandwich were standard fare and not too impressive but they do well on a cold day. Limited seating but people will let you share tables if you ask. Cash only.

Amazing HK breakfast! Although the restaurant is a bit small, we had a great time there with local people. The meals were just delicious. Best congee in town.

A non descript no frills HK Style Chinese fast food restaurant. They have a very large selection of noodles, rice and HK style sandwiches. Its is a fairly small place, so take away is the most appropriate option. As well, ordering on site will set you back 20 - 25 mins especially if during popular hours like lunch and dinner, advise to call ahead. But the value is high, all the prices and portions are very fair.

A classic hole in the wall HK cafe serving all day breakfast. I got there around 11am on a Tuesday and the place was packed. I ordered the Chinese style breakfast with the century egg and pork congee and chow mein, and added an extra milk tea, only $7.75 total. The congee was pretty good, with a generous amount of egg and pork. The milk tea was great, not too sweet, pretty similar to the best HK milk tea in Sydney. And they fill it to the brim 🥹. The chow mein was unfortunately very dry. The serving size was very generous though and would be enough for 2 ppl. The vibes were immaculate. Lots of aunties and uncles having breakfast and chatting in Cantonese. The phone ringing off the hook. My table neighbors playing musical chairs to accommodate the older auntie who probably hangs here all day 😌. Seating is haphazard so get it to go if you need a seat or be lucky.

1st time trying based on goggle review. Generally, the breakfast is reasonably priced at $5.75 for porridge + Cheong fun or fried noodles. For the price & quantity, I will give it a 4.5 stars. However, the food is generally plain and not that tasty. For the quality, I will give it a 3 stars. Overall, perhaps a 3.5 for price, quantity and quality.

Hole in the wall HK style Café. Their HK style milk tea is spot on with the locals and their simple menu satisfies your every HK Café cravings. Better known for their take outs than sit in but if you must sit in, be ready to fight for every table and seat as people will not ask but simply take if you did not save it first. Things move very quickly here so be prepare to have a local order for you and try to leave unscathed by the sudden crowds of people!

Rating: 6.5/10 Date Last Visited: 1/24/2026 I ordered the Pork Chop w/ Onions over Rice ($9.50). The pork chop by itself is juicy, flavorful, and cooked very well. The sautéed onions elevate the dish and add the additional flavoring needed. However, I found the dish to be a bit boring since there was too much rice for just pork chops and onions. However for under $10, I think the food is good value. This place is cash only, so make sure you bring some extra cash with you. Overall, I would recommend this place if you’re in the area and want some quick food for good value.

My friend Mike referred me to this establishment. I made it my regular spot. I would always order the same order: beef stew over rice with an iced lemonade. I came here many times to spend my hard earned money. One day I found a blue rubber band in my food and called and notified the management; they apologized and the next time I came they gave me a free meal to make up for it. I still came back after that. Recently, I found a piece of hair in my food. This time I came back, I ordered no food except an iced tea and the lady behind the counter tried to charge me. Both women had a very suspicious look on their face like I was trying to get over on them for a $10 plate of food. First off, I am an honest person, second my family is in the food business. I guess it’s xenophobia because I’m Not Chinese and they don’t trust me. See attached photos of the hair and rubber band in food. I will never come here again or refer anyone here. Bad business all around and rude people who don’t treat their customers right.

We ordered beef stew lo mein. Unfortunately we cannot recommend it. Bad quality of meat, just fat no meat. Cut too roughly, pieces way too big. Why these tasteless withe noodles? Just cheap, not good.
