More of a takeout place but the portions are generous! I had enough pulled pork to take home and make lunch for tomorrow. The entrees come with 3 sides. I got plantains, yuca, and veggies. I am so full....
The food at Sophie's midtown was great. On a muggy day, tired and drained from work, Sophie's was the move. We had the chicken and rice, and the ropa and moro. Wow! Can't wait to try the pork chops with extra onions. Great experience, great staff.
My mom used to take me here when I was younger any time I went to work with her, it’s always been our favorite. Now 20 years later, I bring it home to her any chance I get. We absolutely love Sophie’s and no matter how many times I order empanadas at other places, it will never compare.
This spot handled my birthday celebration perfectly. Our worker's friendly nature enhanced the experience. This place balances culinary quality, environmental quality and service quality. Their prices are fair and ingredients are newly sourced. Trust me, this place has my loyalty, and it'll earn yours too.
The flavors here dance on your tongue with each taste. The interior feels carefully planned. The staff member showed verbal engagement with various patrons. You get good value for what you pay. I found a restaurant worth returning to!
Wow wow and wow! I'm still trying to figure out how they made it taste so good. Their portions are substantial and their employees attentive. The experience at Sophie's Cuban Cuisine - Midtown West was excellent. Employees are assisting and pleasant. The employees were accommodating and the cuisine was incredible! I plan to visit again.
The best freaking Cuban food I've tasted in the US. All the options I could ask for... arroz con pollo 🍛, aguacate🥑, empanadas de pollo🥟, y plátanos maduros🍌. Me encanta la comida aqui!🤗 This was my first time in New York🗽and I'm glad we could grab some good food near the hotel we were staying, the Cambria 🏨, especially during the pandemic 😷. At the time we were told dine-in was allowed, but we chose to grab it to go and eat upstairs since it was fairly cold (for me) during this autumn trip.
Came around 11:30 for lunch. Didn't know they had table service, which is great. It was not so busy at this time but quickly packed. Ordered Pernil with a twist and Spanish coffee. Food and drink came out quick. Coffee was just ok, but the sandwich was amazing. There was a lot of meat, sweet plantain and sauces made it a nice balance to moist and flavor. The green sauce was especially good too, which is why table service is nice because I liked to open my sandwich and add a little more of it to suit my taste. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The mojo pork with moro rice was delicious, and I highly recommend it. I also ordered a guava and cheese empanada and got a beef one in my order instead. It was fine, but it wasn't what I really wanted. Word to the wise: pass on the tres leches. It's a flavorless cake with the wrong texture swimming in a pool of evaporated milk. The taste is wrong, the texture is wrong, and two of the three milks are missing.
Went here with my coworkers to get lunch. This is the second location I've been to and the line is a bit long during lunchtime but goes by quickly. Their green sauce is really good and def recommend getting a platter. The shredded beef was tender and was flavorful. The empanada esp the beef one hits every single time!
Can't seem to get it together for uber eats orders. Half the time when I order from here my order is wrong and the majority of the time it's when I order the oxtail. Today they sent stew beef im it's place as if it's the same thing. Didn't bother to call me to confirm if I was ok with the substitution. Stew beef is much harder/chewier and CHEAPER cut of beef yet they thought I would just be ok with paying such a high price for a low quality of meat. Even worse , they sent me just 4 small pieces of meat. I promptly filed a complaint.
The place looks really nice but the food is okay. The service is also okay. We ordered the chicken leg and it was very unflavored. Oxtail portions were so small for $17. It was not worth it. Overall the taste doesnt match the price tag.
I was extremely disappointed with our visit, the lines were long, so we thought we had hit the jackpot. There’s a few things I would change number one the lunch specials none of which include an actual meat with rice and beans. For example, one lunch special was a Cuban sandwich with a side of rice and beans which makes no sense. The way they organize the food was bad. They had rice, meats, beans, sides, all intermingled in the same section and they have two carts of food. Because the staff rush you through the line, we unfortunately ordered our food, while we were in front of the first section, so we missed out on other sides and meats available in the section closest to the register. The food was rather bland for Cuban food, I love Caribbean food and this did not hit the mark. We ordered 2 meals, 2 sodas, an empanada and stuff potato and paid over $50 way more than I expected to pay for such small portions of food.
I ordered two bowls, and one came with a hair inside. When I went back for a replacement, the staff had a bad attitude, rolled their eyes, and remade the bowl in a clearly passive-aggressive way. Unacceptable hygiene and unprofessional customer service. I hope they fix this.
This place is insufferable. Different location same stank attitude. The cashier lady was walking away while I was at the register trying to order empanadas. I had to flag her down WHILE IN HER FACE to get some service. I asked for the 3 empenada special. Chicken. She gave me 3 beef. She just threw it so angrily in the bag and didn't give any utensils or green sauce. Note to owner: Your female workers have deplorable customer service. The beef empenada isn't even good. I should've just gone to Wendy's.
