My wife and I stopped in for a Valentine’s Day lunch on a very cold February afternoon, and some warm Indian spices and rich curry felt like the perfect choice for the day. Tamarind Tribeca presents itself as an upscale Indian dining destination, and the moment you walk in, that impression holds true. The expansive bar area is elegant, the seating is thoughtfully arranged, and the décor strikes a nice balance between sophistication and comfort. The ambiance feels refined without being overwhelming. The service was another highlight. The waitstaff were courteous, attentive, and paced the meal well, making us feel welcomed throughout our visit. The menu is expansive and appears to change frequently, which makes it ideal for repeat visits. I was initially hoping to try their executive lunch menu so we could sample a wider variety of dishes, but it wasn’t available that day. Instead, we ordered from the main menu and began with the appetizers. The Bataki Kosha – minced duck hand-rolled in a rice crepe – was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The Tellicherry Pepper Murgh, pan-seared chicken bites finished with bold Tellicherry pepper and curry leaves, was equally impressive. Both starters were absolutely delicious and set high expectations for the rest of the meal. For the mains, we ordered the Vegetable Pulao, Garlic Naan, and Chicken Shahi Korma. The pulao unfortunately was a disappointment, as it had an overpowering amount of turmeric that threw off the balance of the dish. However, the Chicken Shahi Korma was rich, creamy, and well executed, pairing nicely with the fresh and flavorful garlic naan. To drink, we had a Mango Lassi and a Pomegranate & Ginger mocktail, both of which were refreshing and well made. Tamarind Tribeca is definitely on the pricier side for Indian cuisine, but given the upscale setting, quality of service, and overall dining experience, it’s not unexpected. Despite the miss with the pulao and the unavailable lunch menu, we truly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. We would definitely revisit when we’re in the area.
This restaurant consistently impresses me with its amazing food and accommodating staff, especially for our allergies. The staff’s recommendations are incredibly helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lovely night there. ❤️
Had my first-ever experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant, and it was absolutely amazing! Tried both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian options — every dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch, and the ambience made the experience even better. Overall, a fantastic dining experience that I’d highly recommend!
We took advantage of NYC restaurant week to visit this establishment, for lunch, on a Saturday afternoon. The food was absolutely incredible, such flavor. The service was excellent. They also have an impressive selection of original and creative cocktails. We would definitely return!
we had an extraordinary experience at Tamarind Tribeca on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The food was exquisite and spiced in exactly the way that I like it. The service was fantastic. Shubham was our waiter and he was courteous, kind and attentive to our needs. Couldn’t have asked for a better guy. Love coming here and it never lets me down. The ambience is amazing and you feel like you’re at home in a very elegant space. Highly recommend.
My boyfriend and I had the most romantic night here with the best food, and our waitress Diki was the absolute best! I have been thinking about the malai naan for weeks after we had it. Tandori was amazing, drinks were amazing, and dessert was amazing. We cannot wait to go again, truly!
Stopped in for lunch in January 2026. It was a cold day so some Indian spice and curry was the perfect for lunch. It was also restaurant week so the lunch menu was nicely put together in 3 courses which was jus perfect. The place is upscale Indian with an expansive bar area. The sitting are is also nicely put together. The decor was appropriate and the ambiance balanced. The wait staff was good and courteous and served well. They were attentive. The dining options are expansive and changes frequently. I was very happy with my choices. Will definitely revisit here when in the area. It is comparatively expensive for Indian cuisine, but this is upscale so not unexpected. Will revisit again.
MLK lunch. Nice special allowing variety. We tried most in Executive Lunch menu (both appetizer, all entree except lamb both dessert) plus chicken and extra nan. Was with Indian food novice so good treat. Starter nice. Shrimp (Tawa Jhinga) appetizer very good. For entree, chicken fish very easy picking. Rice and vegetables add flavors. Smoked mashed eggplant (Baingan Bharta) also nice. Fish and chicken breast tasty, easy for those whose prefererence less spicy. Dessert both not so sweet, subtle. Glass enclosed open kitchen to see tandoori at work. High ceiling, good bench tables, bar as well spacious. Good bright decor with silhouette curtains. Service excellent. Moving table to make way. Initial metal plate then clean bright china plates. Water filled frequently. Checking up making sure. Also language very polite. Overall pleasant dining experience. Will recommend others.
One of the best fine dining Indian cuisine that I had in my life. Everything was cooked to perfection! We ordered the lunch menu which was a 3 course meal with tomato soup, rice, chicken and a veggie side. It was served very well and the seasoning was perfect! We also ordered venison on the side which is an exotic game meat dish, but it was cooked well enough to get rid of the gamey taste. The service was also swift and detailed. I would recommend everyone to try this place out if you have plans for fine dining in Manhattan.
We had a wonderful experience at Tamarind Tribeca while celebrating my uncle’s 70th birthday. Our party consisted of 18 guests, and both the food and service were outstanding. The staff was attentive, professional, and ensured that everything ran smoothly throughout the evening. Special appreciation goes to the reservation team for thoughtfully accommodating our vegetarian requirements. The menu and arrangements were well planned, making the experience enjoyable for everyone in our group. The only downside was that a gratuity of $420 was automatically added to the bill. While we understand service charges for large parties, it would have been preferable to have gratuity offered as an option rather than pre-applied, allowing guests the flexibility to tip at their discretion. Aside from this, everything was excellent. Thank you to Tamarind Tribeca for helping make this celebration memorable.
Being a former Michelin starred restaurant, Tamarind still lives up to the hype and serves amazing and delicious Indian food Our dinner started off with a pre-appetizer of sorts that was a flaky pastry with tomato and mozzarella in it served with spice yoghurt chutney We got the Bhurwan Kumbh, which is a stuffed mushroom appetizer. It was a very rich and decadent dish with a savory filling of Paneer, Aloo and Cheese For mains, we went down the classic road and order Paneer Pasanda, Daal Makhani, Garlic Naan and Laccha Paratha Every dish was flavorful and the breads were really amazing and fresh
If one word could describe my experience at Tamarind Tribeca, it would be “wow.” Tamarind is included in the Michelin Guide. It received a Michelin star when it was located in the Flatiron district. We started with the mushroom and truffle oil naan. Are you familiar with “manna” from the Bible? It was the miraculous and heavenly bread that G-d sent to the Israelites when they were in the desert before entering the Promised Land. This heavenly bread was light and almost hovered on top of the ground. The mushroom and truffle oil naan is as close to manna as I think I’m going to get. Heavenly and divine. We also ordered the Baghare Baingan (eggplant) and Chana Pindi (chickpeas). The Baghare Baingan was like nothing else I’ve ever had in my life. The eggplant is cooked so delicately and airy, that it almost melts in your mouth with the most savory and aromatic sauce. The Chana Pindi, while more hearty than the eggplant, also bursts with flavor and I may have said to my husband that “I could drink that sauce.” We ordered the Milagu Curry (lamb) and the Hasiru Samudra (sea bass). The Milagu Curry was as flavorful as one could imagine with a tomato and coconut and spicy sauce. The lamb was falling apart. The Hasiru Samudra was the most delicate sea bass I’ve tasted with a green herb crust that was absolutely incredible. It lays on a tomato sauce that adds a bit of sweet to the savory dish. In addition to the Michelin quality dishes, the service was impeccable. The servers “crumb” the table in between courses and they refill your glass faster than you could yourself. An added bonus is the bathrooms are immaculate. Not always easy to find in the city, even in the most exquisite restaurants. 5 stars for food, service, and ambiance. A true gem.
Among the best Indian restaurants right now in the City. Posh ambiance. Attentive, polite, professional staff. Tables far enough apart to not have to bump into people. Drinks hit the spot - could be a tad stronger for better balance. Some of their cocktails were delicious - particularly the Raj Royale. Appetizers - rasam, hara bhara kebab, paneer - were superb. Being a Bengali I had to try the daab chingri (shrimp in young coconut) - lip smashingly delicious. The malai halibut and Kerala fish were equally flavorful. For desserts - rasmalai is good, kulfi is better, but I still feel the entrees beat the desserts in taste, and the appetizers give the entrees a run for their flavors.
The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance, featuring a thoughtfully designed interior that enhances its overall charm. Despite the busy atmosphere, the service was excellent. Our server was attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful in guiding me through the menu, as I am not very familiar with Indian cuisine. Every dish was flavorful, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. I particularly enjoyed the Garlic Naan and Chicken Tikka Masala. For dessert, I had Gajrela (Carrot Halwa). Although I’m not a big fan of that particular dessert, I plan to try something different next time. Overall, I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.
Had high expectations going into the place because I heard great things about this restaurant. It is pretty popular and famous. The food was good, maybe even great Indian food. Don’t get it wrong but I think my expectations were just too high. It felt like decent Indian food where I was expecting something spectacular. The dishes didn’t really stand out. The service and atmosphere were nice. Also ate with my uncle who is cool. My Beli gave it a 7.5 and I think this is accurate for Indian food but might put it a bit lower just because I’m not the biggest fan of Indian food. I do like it but I feel like it can get repetitive and I with there was more meat in the dishes. Overall, solid spot.
Tamarind Tribeca — Elegant space, strong service, inconsistent kitchen (Lunch visit) Tamarind Tribeca makes an excellent first impression. The restaurant is visually grand, with a refined fine-dining ambience, a well-designed interior, and a fully stocked bar with a respectable wine list. Service during our lunch was warm, professional, and attentive throughout. We were seated by the window near the bar, which was a pleasant spot. Drinks Raj Royal (Old Fashioned variation): Nicely presented with a rosemary garnish and competently made. Slightly sweeter than I prefer, but acceptable. 5/10 Lychee Martini: Very sweet, with no noticeable pineapple flavor despite it being listed on the menu. Essentially tasted like lychee juice with alcohol. 3/10 Starters Bhagare Jhinga: Appealing presentation — sautéed shrimp with tomato chutney and a mustard seed–curry leaf tempering. However, the dish lacked basic seasoning, the chutney tasted undercooked, and the shrimp felt underdone and slightly crunchy. Punjabi Thike Kebab (Chicken Tikka): Bright red in color, suggesting heavy food coloring. The chicken lacked proper marination, was undercooked, chewy, and difficult to cut. Presentation was fine but execution was poor. 2/10 To their credit, the staff promptly replaced this dish with: Tellicherry Pepper Murgh: A clear improvement. Well plated, properly cooked, and nicely seasoned with a bold black pepper profile and a slight tamarind tang in the sauce. Chicken was tender and flavorful. 7/10 Main Course Punjabi Kukkad: A standard North Indian chicken curry with onion-ginger-garlic gravy and whole spices. Unfortunately, this felt under-finished — the gravy tasted like a pre-prepared base that wasn’t fully cooked out, and the chicken was again firm and under-seasoned, as if added separately. For such a fundamental dish, this was disappointing. 3/10 Dale-e-Tamarind (Dal Makhani): Somewhat better, but still seemed undercooked. Dal makhani benefits from slow simmering for depth and creaminess, which appeared lacking here. 4/10 Breads Tandoori Roti & Pudina Paratha: Both were well made. The pudina paratha used dried spearmint, which gives a slightly different flavor than traditional mint — not unpleasant, but unconventional. 7/10 Dessert Complimentary Pista Kulfi: Pleasant, well portioned, and enjoyable. 7/10 Final Verdict Tamarind Tribeca excels in ambience and service, and the dining room experience feels premium. However, during this visit the kitchen performance was inconsistent, with several dishes lacking seasoning, depth, or proper doneness — particularly concerning for core North Indian menu items. A good choice for ambience and drinks, but based on this experience, the food did not match the setting or expectations. Overall: 3/10 (service and ambience strong; kitchen execution needs improvement).
We dined on Thanksgiving day and had an ok meal. The decor and ambiance were great, very stylish and we could actually have a conversation. The service was that of a 5-star restaurant. The cocktails were unique and tasty and there was a nice selection of wine by the glass. We ordered our meal off of the Thanksgiving menu and it was just ok. For the price of the shrimp appetizer I expected more than just 3 shrimp. The squash app was very good. The lamb was very dry and stringy but the flavor was good, not enough sauce to moisten anything. The Butter turkey was flavorful and spicy but had a canned tomato taste.
Tamarind is the kind of place that charges you like you’re about to have a revelation, then serves you a meal that feels like it was engineered by committee: polished, predictable, and emotionally blank. The room leans hard into “special occasion,” but the experience is strangely sterile—like fine dining cosplay where the lighting is flattering, the plates are expensive, and none of it actually lands. Service hovers with that practiced, non-committal smoothness: attentive enough to feel watched, not warm enough to feel cared for. You’re managed, not hosted. As for the food, it’s aggressively safe. The flavors are dialed up in the obvious ways—rich, buttery, sweet-leaning sauces; heavy-handed seasoning; the same glossy gravies repeating with minor costume changes—while nuance and texture get lost somewhere between the kitchen pass and your table. Dishes that should sing instead sit there, competent and flat, like reheated memories of something better you’ve had elsewhere. Do better please.
Went to celebrate my birthday as review looked to be good and wanted to try an extravagance place on my special day. Very very disappointed with food taste except the one which was provided as be appetizer at the start ( complimentary) We chose this place specially to try Mutton Champaran. But if was a disaster. I mean we are from East India and we know this dis so well. Coming from Kolkata, we Bengalis look for the taste first. Champaran look was not even close to what is original and taste… won’t even go for this if at all have to visit again( no plan though) At the end my friends thought to celebrate my special Day with a cake( of course a piece). The server never said it will cost us and that too 26$!!!!! Atleast we should have been informed on that. Just two weeks back we went to another high end cuisine for our anniversary and its was on the house. That’s what we have been aware of. I am really disappointed, would have consoled my mind if the food taste was good. It was not. Service was ok. Wanted to give 1, atmosphere was better. Hence +1 It was very very average restaurant from taste POV I won’t be able to recommend this place to my friends atleast!
So, I made a decision long ago to not write bad reviews, just don't review instead.. This is an exception. Skip Tamarind, its a bust, the food was mediocre fusion at best. The service was straight up third rate, the only good thing was the room and that was too loud. It was like cheap Chinese food but Indian.. The cauliflower was like "sweet and sour" cauliflower, the scallop appetizer was good but hardly Indian and the lobster.. well, I got sick from it an hour after I left. I haven't gotten any food born illness in at least 30 years and I travel the world and eat street food everywhere. This definitely impacts my review and it puts Tamarind solidly in the I'll never ever go again category. Too bad it's a few blocks from my home..
Tamarind Tribeca’s reputation as an upscale Indian dining destination unfortunately falls short of its promise. What should be a refined and memorable meal instead feels inconsistent and underwhelming at nearly every turn. The service, while polite, lacks attentiveness and timing — long gaps between courses and overly rushed check-ins interrupted the flow of the meal. It set a tone that the evening was being managed rather than curated. On the plate, the execution feels uncertain. Many dishes suffer from a lack of balance: proteins are over-cooked or dry, sauces lean toward heaviness without depth, and spice profiles feel muted where they should be bold and vibrant. Signature items that should shine in an Indian fine-dining context come across as overly cautious or disjointed. Even the breads — a fundamental part of any Indian meal — arrived inconsistently textured, some under-done, others overly chewy. Presentation does the restaurant few favors; plates lack the thoughtful composition you’d expect at this price point, and visual appeal is sacrificed for uninspired plating. Portions are generous, but volume doesn’t compensate for the absence of memorable flavor or polish. There are moments where hints of potential show through, but they are sporadic and never enough to elevate the overall experience. Tamarind Tribeca may have the bones of a noteworthy concept, but on this visit it felt like a missed opportunity — disconnected execution, inconsistent pacing, and a lack of culinary focus made for a disappointing evening rather than the refined Indian dining experience it aims to be.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. The food was disappointing and didn’t taste like authentic Indian cuisine. While the overall service not good. I was frustrated by the seating policy. Despite arriving on time for my reservation, I wasn’t given a table because the rest of my party hadn’t arrived yet. That was quite inconvenient and poorly handled
