We went to the Grey Dog for a late brunch Friday before our flight out of NYC and had a wonderful time. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is tasty and it comes in ample portions for sharing. Free coffee refills were also greatly appreciated. In particular, we really loved how spacious it was; we had no problem tucking away our excessive luggage while eating. Would definitely recommend if you're in the Chelsea area!

A busy spot but they have a system that makes it not so bad, plus the food is worth the wait. The hazelnut coffee was one of the best I had my entire time in New York. I had a tuna steak salad that was yummy but could have done with a bit less oil in the dressing (but still, I ate every bite.) Their fries are exceptionallyseasoned. The fish tacos were dripping with flavor in that beer batter. The only thing that bummed me out was I wanted more of that coffee (it came with free refills) but didnt want to get back into the long line to grab it and didnt know where to get it from a waiter since they dont really have waiters there. So know everything you want once you go up to order!!

I went there for breakfast on my birthday and they were so friendly, the food and drinks were great. Go support your local small business.

We found this place on Google and the pics looked cozy and nice. It's very small but we’re seated immediately. Our waiter was very nice and welcoming. I ordered the grey dog breakfast with French toast. It came out fairly quick and hot. Definitely would recommend the French toast. Overall, we had a great experience and would go back.

I stopped to eat here after the pride parade and it was crowded! But we only waited around 20-25mins to be seated. The service was great, we didn't felt rushed to leave even though there was people waiting. The food was great I had a classic burger with fries. All in all, we had a good time

The Manager Christian and Selena, our waitress, made our visit exciting, fun, and enjoyable. Of course, the food was absolutely delicious and tasty.

Really special gem in Chelsea! A bit of a walk, but it was totally worth it! Service wasn’t the best but the food was really great! Nice place to come grab a great meal and most importantly, cool off in these warm temps!

Simple american breakfast food but the execution was great, very tasty. Service is exceptionally friendly for us out of towners. Salad was a bit heavy on the dressing but I'm sure we could ask to be on the side next time.

Great breakfast options and amazing house blend tea! I'm trying to stay away from coffee for a while and I'm exploring interesting tea options - this was a blast. They discourage staying there for too long and using laptops while there - which is fine, because, given that this is not a "traditional" coffee shop. The coffee smelled great but I couldn't try it as I was in a coffee break, so can't say anything about that but do try the house blend tea.

Nice brunch place in Chelsea, right next to the A,C,E lines (14th street and 8th avenue). Super nice staff. Bit of a wait on the weekends, but if you don’t mind sitting outside, there isn’t any wait. We ordered the basics (aka avocado toast) and it was great!

Vast difference from the Flatiron location. Much better vibe and much better service. And they had wings! The Spiked Palmer is amazing, the fish tacos were excellent and the Buffalo wings were insanely delicious! The restroom was very clean and the waitress was hilarious and super friendly. I'll definitely be revisiting this location. If not for the wings then definitely the service!

Excellent find. Within walking distance from where we were staying, but even if not, it would have been worth the trip. Got the breakfast tacos and wow. Delicious coffee, lots of non-dairy creamer options. Helpful staff and very hipster (not annoyingly so) vibe in the place. Lots of seating. Cool decor. Fun music. Definitely recommend.

Great menu! Loved the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. It was super super light & tasty. Fries were good as well. Can be a little chaotic during rush hour, but good environment and ambiance. Would definitely recommend.

I had the four cheese macaroni and a Spiked Palmer, both were very good. Cute little location, friendly service, and the food was ready fast! (A weekday evening, but still) I will most likely come again and will recommend!

Wandered in here for breakfast on a whim and had one of the best breakfast in recent memory! Seriously delicious French toast (soft, fluffy) with yummy honey latte! Great service too! Honestly if this was in my neighbourhood I would come all the time!

Tasty delicious beyond amazing mostly healthy foooood !!!!!!! Homemade vegan burger, tacos, roasted Cauliflower, roasted brussel sprouts, avocado hummus...etc. this place was my place and now after covid it's even more beautiful!!! The staff, the design, the setup, the music... you just feel that you are in your friends living room except that your "friend" a.k.a staff is so warm, accomodating and gives you an amazing service. So basically you feel the comfort of a friendly place, the taste of a real restaurant and enjoy the unique atmosphere of chelsea! If you want to study, work, brunch, enjoy a happy hour with a friend on weekdays, sit alone or with friends! That's your go to. Absolutely welcoming not snobish at all. Light and warm atmosphere. Again the food and everything is just perfect. And bonus: it's not only a millenial go-to spot, here you can find any real New Yorker, including the most beautiful .... dogs

The Grey Dog is a great spot for a delicious breakfast in Chelsea! I had a wonderful experience - the food was delicious and the atmosphere was casual, homey, and relaxing. I highly recommend the classic omelette where it was perfectly cooked and very flavorful.

Having been to the Union Sq venue, the Chelsea Grey Dog didn’t disappoint. It’s a bit bigger with outdoor seating and the staff are attentive and friendly. We sat outside and it wasn’t too hot in the August morning sun. I had a three egg omelette with broccoli, cheddar, and mushrooms. It comes with home fries and toast. The food is hot and tasty and the toast like a big thick bloomer. The bottomless coffee also actually tasted like good strong coffee - not like the black water you get in some diners. Highly recommend.

The Grey Dog – amazing breakfast! The Breakfast Plate was just perfect — soft eggs, crispy bacon, fluffy and light pancakes with syrup that wasn’t too sweet, and flavorful home fries… yum! A great balance of sweet and savory, full of taste and texture. Attentive staff, warm atmosphere — truly a delight! 🥞🥓🍳

We enjoyed our brunch outside (but the place is lovely inside). Quickly served by a friendly and caring staff. Generous plates, tasty food, excellent fries (both regular French and sweet potatoes), dairy free options.

Each detail from decor to music was perfection! Service was BEST IN NYC. The young man with curly hair who waited on us was cordial, efficient, and made us feel extremely welcome. I loved the Glow Up! Food was incredible. Fave spot in the city for soooo many reasons. Don't skip this gem!!

Food was great! Atmosphere was inviting and clean. Service was a little lackluster. A simple how is your meal or a check in at any point during the experience would be appreciated.

Food 5/5 The last time I had The Grey Dog was around three years ago, and I didn't quite remember if I liked the food. Now I know for sure I LOVED the Breakfast Bowl, there's a reason it's one of the most popular dishes on the menu. It wasn't too heavy, felt really healthy since there were plenty of greens and it came with sourdough toast. My friends also really enjoyed their orders of fried chicken sandwich and classic omelette. The rose petal matcha wasn't sweet at all, which is something I like. Service 4/5 I felt as if they were understaffed, as it took quite a while for the waiters to attend to us and also for us to pay. I'm sure there are COVID related reasons here, but they're all very friendly. Interior 5/5 Cute rustic, typical American brunch spot. I vibed with it, loved the framed pictures on the wall too.

20220417 After first test of negative, I got a relieve and decided to have a proper ‘avocado smash’, which I found the Americans really love. Arrived around 12:15, busy but I got my seat very quickly. Thick cup for hot coffee, good!

So I heard about the Philly Cheese Steak Wrap from here and been wanting to try it for a while. Decided to finally give it a try and was not disappointed. It tasted amazing. I got the combo with Sweet Potato Fris which was like $1 more. The fris were also amazing. The Host was extremely friendly and kind. I was looking at the Menu and definitely interested in going back to try other items. It's Table Service which I did not know going in...and was looking where to Order lol. I sat outside which was empty while everyone crowded inside. The Bathroom was also Nice and Clean. Definitely worth the trip to try this place if you are ever near West 16th Street in the City.

This is the cutest breakfast / brunch place. The decorations through are really cute and the food is wonderful. The potato fries were so good! I had the french toast with scrambled eggs and loved it

Really cool boutique Cafe in the heart of Chelsea. My wife and I split the breakfast bowl which was phenomenal. All the ingredients were well roasted and well cooked, the textual differences was very pleasant on the palate. Food and service was spot on, chill, and very welcoming in this cute little Cafe. Really nice art work and decor to top it all off. Delicious and beautiful.

Since the mid 2000s in the village to their location here in Chelsea, The Grey Dog has always been consistent, delicious, and my favorite go-to when all your hunger needs is a delicious sandwich and a beer. 2000s alternative rock music make up the speaker tunes, and friendly Michigan vibes the backing atmosphere. Bonus points scored for a great happy hour on the weekend. Sat and Sunday 4-7 get you half-offish for a couple excellent appetizers, a margarita or mule (the mule is excellent), or a couple Michigan beers (Founders for the win).

I absolutely love this Chelsea restaurant! Creative, cozy, informal and delicious! I had the Breakfast Bowl which was superb and healthy. The toast was freshly made. The components of the bowl were unique - never had such a great combination of ingredients. Our server was great. Very fast service. Can't wait to go back.

I’m from South Korea. This place was so good that I visited twice during my vacation. The food, service, and atmosphere were all perfect. Especially, the man who said cheers was the best. I plan to go back in a few days!!!!

I absolutely love this little cafe. In fact the others are good as well (there are 4 in lower Manhattan). The quirky decor is fun, the food is delicious and the drinks are always hot or cold. From the street it looks small, but once inside there is plenty of rooms for friends to share a meal. It feels like home.

★★★★★ We had a fantastic lunch at The Grey Dog Café on West 16th Street! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like family—so warm, welcoming, and attentive. The food was absolutely terrific, with fresh flavors and great portions. The cozy atmosphere made it even better. Can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend!

I am stunned at how amazing everything was here. Im so glad I got to try it out! I am a local and I am not easy to please. The chicken & Waffles were my absolute favorite! They were so yummy and we also ordered the grey dog breakfast. The bacon was so thick and delicious, the potatoes were cooked to perfection and the food came Out really quickly. I gave service 3/5 because I did feel rushed and it seems like they know how good they are so they don’t bother to ask if everything went well or if I was done before handing me the check (huge pet peeve). Highly recommend for a quick meal. Latte was also good.

Went here with my friend and loved the drinks and atmosphere! I got the seasonal pumpkin espresso martini which was lovely :)) It tasted so smooth and I got a happy buzz. My friend ordered the happy hour marg. It was strong and tasted good with a salt rim. The staff was all so sweet and very friendly. Love the halloween decorations too, cozy and cute! My friend and I were technically here to catch up and get some work done and they didn’t mind that which was so sweet. Also the bathroom was very clean and they had a great playlist (mix of pop music now/throwback and latin music).

I loved this place! Portions are generous and the gluten free waffles were delicious and couldn’t tell the difference with regular ones. And so was the full American breakfast with the French toast. By the time we left there was a long queue outside. Booking is recommended.

Unpretentious, affordable, and cozy. We were sitting outside (just off the restaurant, not in the street booth) because it was such nice weather. It was during happy hour and we order some margarita, flat bread, and baked artichoke. The meals were delicious and freshly made. The portion was generous for happy hour. Service was quick, professional, and friendly. Would come back!

Delicious food, and the best fake eggs I've ever had. Love the space. One small issue is the varnish on the tables makes them feel sticky even when clean. Otherwise I loved the place and I'll definitely be back.

Jesse was a total treasure and the food was delicious. We got the Crispy Chicken Bowl and the Johnny Cakes. Both were so tasty, and the fried chicken was the perfect texture. Our cocktails were a delight as well - we got the Glow Up Mule and the Hibiscus Mimosa. 10/10. Can't wait to come back.

One of our favorite places and DOG FRIENDLY! We asked to sit outside because we were dining with our dog and they said our dog can sit inside. That's pretty amazing considering I've never found another dog friendly restaurant do that. We love to come here anytime of the day - food is always great as well as the service. We will continue being regulars here.

Had reservations here for brunch, and really enjoyed it.... the food was plentiful, and was really good! The place itself it relatively small, so i think reservations are recommended - but i dont think they are required.. Prices were average (for NYC)... would go back again, and recommend to others - its a nice lil place in Chelsea!

The Grey Dog in Chelsea is a great spot with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a casual meal in NYC. I tried the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, which was very tasty, well seasoned and nicely prepared, with a crispy exterior and juicy chicken inside. The place has a cozy vibe, is well organized and feels comfortable even when busy. Service was solid and efficient, making the overall experience quite enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for good food in a laid-back setting.

CHELSEA, NY - This is always our go-to breakfast spot! The service is spot on, and it's one of the trendiest cafes in the neighborhood. . The ambiance is quite nice, especially with the dog-themed décor. Local artists have their dog paintings adorning the walls, which adds a boho touch. The rustic and warm atmosphere makes it perfect for a nice chat, whether you’re catching up with a friend or sharing a special moment with someone. . As for the service, friendly and attentive. . Now, let's talk food. Try the 1/2 lb Big House Burger with cheddar cheese, with a side of caramelized onions or tossed salad, or the crispy Julienne fries with bacon. The burgers are delicious and cooked just right (or as you would like it to be). For drinks, try the refreshing peach mango fizz that is perfectly balanced — not too sweet at all. . Other great dishes are the nachos, wings, and French toast. The buffalo sauce is cooked right into the wings instead of just slathered on top, making them nice and crispy. The French toast have the perfect texture — just the right balance of soft and firm. . If I'm back in the area, you can bet I’ll swing by for breakfast, lunch or weekend brunch!

Quite a comforting spot to have a meal with a friend. I met up with my friends for dinner and I had the mac & cheese and she had the spinach and artichoke dip. The artwork around the walls and the old photos of gray dog were beautiful to see. The waiter was very accommodating and really friendly awesome spot.

This is a fantastic place for brunch in Chelsea. The staff is very friendly and efficient, even if the place gets crowded. The food service is very quick too. The atmosphere inside is nice and cozy. It's brilliant for having a nice meal with friends and family. There's music inside, so maybe not the best place for quiet conversations. We ordered the burger, Mexican bowl, avocado toast and fried chicken with pancakes. The food was delicious, especially the oatmeal pancakes and Mexican bowl. The drinks were really refreshing, especially on a hot day. Have absolutely no issues recommending this place.

The overall location and the ambiance/decor were great. The tight quarters along with their popularity made for a louder-than-desired stay. The service, as mentioned, was stellar! We felt as if we had stepped back in time....when customer service was king! The food was excellent and fun! Though we know not everyone is drawn to the same things as others, and some might be concerned with my "atmosphere" comments, I would say... don't miss out on going here for breakfast, you will enjoy the pancakes!!

A friend of mine was in town from Austria. And I needed a good place for an 8 AM breakfast close to Google’s Chelsea offices. I was happy that I found the Grey Dog initially just for convenience purposes. However, after experiencing the food in the service. This place is much more than convenient. I will definitely be back. I had the Mexican bowl, which was so delicious with the tofu substitution. The service was attentive, but not intrusive. It was also really nice to see the Pride flags hanging. The doors were open so that the fresh air from the morning got in. As you can tell from the pictures I’ve included, the atmosphere is very relaxed. I’m so glad I found it.

I had a lovely breakfast at The Grey Dog. The avocado toast was excellent; hearty, flavorful bread, fresh avocado, perfectly poached eggs. The home fries were like mini French fries; I loved the sautéed onions and fresh cut scallion strips on top. Coffee is good and strong! The atmosphere is relaxed, like classic diner meets chic café. Service was welcoming and prompt; the food took a little while to come out but it was worth the wait.

Not my first time at this chain and won’t be my last. Easy to get a res, lively crowd (tends to be mid-to-late 20s), and consistently good food at a decent price. The happy hour deal has many options for every vibe and it’s on every single day including Saturdays. I have gotten their Crispy Rice & Miso Glazed Tofu bowl multiple times and it hits every time. Enjoy!

Had an amazing experience at The Grey Dog in Chelsea! The food was absolutely incredible every bite was delicious. On top of that, the accommodations for my pup were perfect, and I really appreciated how welcoming everyone was. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. it's such a quirky and cute cozy place. We stumbled upon it while in Chelsea. I got the most perfect croissant breakfast sandwich. It was hearty and the fries were the best fries I've had in a long time. Nothing is wrong with this place

Our experience with the American breakfast was truly positive. We were looking for a place to enjoy pancakes, and despite the long lines at the more famous spots, we ended up at a lesser-known place that pleasantly surprised us. The pancakes were amazing—delicious, hearty, and plentiful, though I couldn’t finish them all. I also ordered an oat milk latte, which arrived promptly in a lovely glass. The atmosphere was perfect for a brunch, and we felt right at home. Additionally, I tried a delicious French toast, and the portions were generous with great value for the price

This place was perfect! My wife and I were looking for something that had healthy options and Chocolate Chip Pancakes were a must for two of the kiddos- a family tradition! They had it all. Great Dog Chelsea is an amazing spot for happy hour! Their selection of coffee drinks and lattes is unbeatable, and they have some of the best deals in the city during happy hour. I especially love their craft beers for just $4 each—it's crazy, especially for New York! Their glitter cocktail (forgot the name) is so tasty and refreshing, especially when created by my favorite bartender there, Mason! They also offer plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, including fresh salads and the millennial classic - avocado toast topped with a poached egg (don't judge, please, haha). The service here is always excellent and make sure they give you an experience you will want to come back for. Whether you're looking for a great cup of coffee or a fun happy hour spot, Great Dog Chelsea has you covered. Highly recommend stopping by for some of the best deals in town!

This place had such a fun and cafe-like comforting vibe! Our waitress was great and very helpful. I liked the brunch options as they have a good amount of options. We got the hibiscus mimosa and Bloody Mary to drink - both made well and yummy. To eat we got the chilaquiles and egg croissant sandwich. Nice portions and good flavors. I couldn’t finish my meal and I liked how the chilaquiles came with chorizo with a nice twist in presentation as well.

The food, the decors and the atmosphere was so perfect. You order your food by the counter and they bring you your meal. Some might say it’s a small place but I think it was perfect. The place was pack so you know this was the hot spot. Didn’t take us long to grab a table for a party of five though. The food was delish and the portion was more than enough. Whenever I come back to New York I will def come here over and over again

Oh wow ~ cannot wait to visit my son again, who just moved to Chelsea. This little gem is AMAZING! Just like something I'd find in my backyard of Downtown St. Pete, FL! I imagine I'll be going back often, as there was so much on the menu I'd love to try. The baked Mac & cheese I had was terrific, and the staff very helpful and courteous! Great job to everyone who works there!!! The only reason I didn't give them 5⭐'s, it because it was a tad toasty and humid inside, and our fries weren't nearly as crispy as we had requested they be.

B

We were glad to find this place for breakfast when another place we planned to go turned out to be dirty. The food was very good, but the only complaint we had was that the service was slower than it should have been, seeing servers not doing much while they should have been noticing that we were well ready to place our order. There weren't many customers at the time. Again, the food was worth the wait.

Really nice staff and diverse menu. We had the egg & cheese croissant, breakfast bowl, and grey dog breakfast. Side of bacon as well, which was not that great tbh. Tasted very rubbery, not recommended but maybe i got a bad batch. The breakfast bowl was good, just a bit bland. Some hot sauce would’ve tasted pretty good on it! Everything else food wise was good. Amazing ambiance, would def come here again

We visited this place on a Sunday night. It felt cozy and warm. The food was good and well proportioned, and the personnel were amicable and attentive. But food and attention is not everything when it comes to dining out. For some reason, not sure if is the theme of the place or is just convenience, they serve several dishes on "peltre" plates that are in poor condition. Peltre is porcelainized steel and is beautiful but the enamel chips when is not handle properly. Also, you need to have the exact amount of if you want to pay in cash otherwise won't be accepted. (That's a first) so we opted for credit. When the card reader was handed to me, the only option for tipping was 22% and up. I have been a tipper all my life but I don't like being abused. We'll see if things improve in our next visit. For now..4 🌟

I got the croissant with eggs and potatoes which was pretty mid, you could get a better one at a cafe. 4 stars because my friends loved their fried chicken and waffles, also the dog decor everyone is absolutely adorable. Will be back for a non-brunch meal

9/2 Saturday HH - margs and wings! Good stuff- great service - 7/23/23 back for Sunday happy hour. I had a couple of beers - Ebbs #1 wheat - nice. And the pizza - nice. Also sweet potato fries - decent. We sat in the anti-street parking space, good service. 2019: We came here for brunch, short line so not too bad. I had french toast (pic) with eggs over medium. It was good and the coffee was good too- free refills! The GF had her eggs come out way over done, she wanted runny eggs and they were rock hard. We asked to have them redone and the server said no problem, but never brought them out. I traded one of mine for one of hers so she could have a decent meal. Kinda sucks... She is not into returning- Seating is firm, no cushions or pillows, so if you have back issues BYO cushion. No Sweet-n-Low.

A nice little restaurant in the lower basement of a brownstone in Chelsea. Pretty roomy. Great place for brunch as they open early. Food is excellent and with a creative and good selection in the menu, service is good.

Took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely little place that felt cozy and had a great vibe. We enjoyed our food and the service was great.

When I first got to the place I had to wait for about 10min to get a table. There was an empty table right in front of my view but apparently was reserved for this woman who was waiting for her man, at the end they gave up the table to us. Other than that the food was goood, I was really craving the breakfast here and it did meet up to my standards, they missed the sausage on my sisters plate and they gave her 2. Also the chai latte was a bit bitter , would’ve liked it a bit sweeter. Only downside was the price, I get that it’s manhattan but why is a small cup of orange juice $5.

Menu is full of healthy options and a pretty homey feel to the place/service. Everything was good but wish it had a tad bit more flavor. Recommend the French toast

During my last visit to NYC, I visited The Grey Dog twice. Friendly service and good quality food, can't really go too far wrong. Would recommend the Grey Dog's breakfast if you are feeling hungry.

Went there for brunch and overall very satisfied. Food was overall very good, except for the pancakes, which tasted very weird/unusual… not sure what they added 🧐. We say outside and the tables seemed a little bit damaged — not sure if it was on purpose (a “style”…) though. Service was totally fine.

The food was delicious and it’s a small, but cute, atmosphere. I love the amount of food you get for the price. The staff working were friendly in the sense of greeting you at the door, but weren’t super engaging with us while taking our orders. The grilled cheese is a favorite from here.

As soon as we got there the place was packed. When we walked in we waited about 5 minutes to even get greeted, which seemed rude tbh. Anyways, surprisingly we only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. I like the cafe but the food was not my favorite I only really enjoyed the cappuccino and pancakes. Our server was very kind.

Visited on Sunday for brunch. We waited in line first to order our food and drinks. Then the server found a table for us and delivered the food to our table. It was definitely busy but the wait wasn't too long. It was a little bit annoying because they kept shouting out people's name for food and it was a bit too loud to hear them while we were sitting at the table. The decorations inside was very cute and felt cozy. The food was good as well. The cucumbers inside the avocado sandwich made it feel refreshing despite the heavy cheese and avocado. The portions were really big as well.

I loved the atmosphere in this place, nice decoration very NY. The food is good, great portions. I ordered crispy bacon with avocado toast. My friend ordered pancakes and she loved them!

We had brunch and it was quite good. Nice selection, attentive service, and fun/friendly vibe. It was a rainy Sunday and the place was packed. We were seated promptly and served our coffee/drinks right away. The egg dishes were tasty with crispy potatoes and a great sourdough bread. Several at our table had the chorizo hash with eggs and were happy campers. All in all it was a nice experience!

This is a cute little breakfast place that I would recommend. We found this place on Google and the pics looked nice so we stopped in. It's very small but they get a good amount of customers. We luckily got there a little early and was seated immediately. They did have high chairs for my toddler which was great. Our hostess was very nice with a smile. Our waiter was enthusiastic and friendly. I asked him about the avocado toast and what he thought and he said it wasn't his favorite because the avocado was on soft bread and he prefers hard. I like soft so I gave it a try with scrambled eggs instead of over easy. It was delicious! I really enjoyed my avocado toast. It came with home fries that had no seasoning tho. I was disappointed in that. I also got a vanilla latte and it didn't have enough vanilla for me so I had to ask for more. Overall, we had a great experience and would go back.

Cozy brunch spot with good cocktails and basic food. Service is a bit chaotic during weekend brunch. A friend made a reservation for 6 and we were seated at a table that really fit 4 people. Unpleasant to need to have your plate hanging off the table, and waiters running into you. Would not recommend for groups larger than 4.

Adorable little restaurant! Fun menu. Breakfast until late afternoon. Had an awesome server, Jessie. He was so friendly and fun! Gluten free options weren't actually GF, due to no safe fryer, so be careful.

Place may supposedly be good for dine in, but not ordering take out, ever again. Wife ordered a grilled cheese and they surprisingly sent this out. I get this spot is not fine dining and it was one time, but if this slips past the workers I don’t want to know what else does. EDIT: Due to the empathetic response from the owner, I couldn't provide such a low rating for 1 instance. Dave (owner), this occurred yesterday around lunch time. It was through a delivery service and we already received a refund but appreciate the kind gesture.

Quite disappointed to be honest. The review on Google was very good so had a high expectation. Came for brunch on Saturday morning, they opened at 9am and not too busy before 11 so good chance no wait needed to get a table. Plenty of spaces for both indoor and outdoor which are good. The place has a good vibe and the greeting girl was nice. However it took quite long to get my food, maybe because of many delivery orders too. Food and drink wise, I ordered a grapefruit juice which costs $6 but as you can see in the picture it was a very small cup so I have to say it’s quite overpriced. For dish I ordered grey dog breakfast which has two eggs of any type, French toast or pancakes, home fries, bacon, sausage or avocado. It was a very nice combination as I always want to have both savoury and sweet for brunch. Overall everything was minimum seasoned so definitely healthy, but the French toast was barely meeting the minimum line. The inside of the brioche tasted just like plain bread, no flavour, nothing……. I have to say it is overrated unfortunately.

I stopped by the Grey Dog for a quick breakfast and coffee with a friend while in NY. It was nice and relaxing with decent food and coffee. Here are some takeaways: Environment I arrived right when the restaurant was opening, so it was fairly empty. The place has a rustic, neighborhood vibe with plenty of seating both inside and outside. I chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful day. The atmosphere was very relaxing and chill, which was exactly what I needed for an early morning. Service I was the first person to be served as they opened up and they made sure I felt welcome and that I was served. They were great and made sure I had everything I needed in a timely fashion. My food and coffee were delivered promptly. The service was great. Food and drinks I had pancakes, eggs, and a mocha. The eggs were okay, but the pancakes were a bit dry, so I wouldn't order them again. The mocha was solid and met my expectations, but nothing extraordinary. Overall My experience at the Grey Dog was fine, offering a solid mocha and some decent food. It was wonderful to arrive first thing in the morning when it was peaceful, quiet, and relaxing.

This place is cute but the French toast is not worth almost 20 dollars, it tastes like sweet dry toasted bread and the kitchen forgot 2/3rds of the garnish. I’m all down for a quick fix so i asked for if the maple butter was on it already just in case, waitress said it normally comes with it but doesn’t have it on it and i said i think it’s also missing the mint- in which she replied the kitchen might be out yet my friends dishes had it so I said I think they do and she said “dO yOu wAnt tHe mInt”. tbh i just want my dish to have everything the menu said it would it’s not that complicated lol. With all the said my friends really enjoyed their food and the pancakes were delicious.

We had visitors over Memorial Weekend. It was relatively easy to find a table for 5. The food was OK but not great. Maybe we did not order their best. I ordered the "Classic Omelette". It was OK. It came with home fries that were not so great. The "Latte" was really good. Others were OK with their order but no one shared great compliments about it. The place had a really good crowd so, you might want to give it a try.

Nice vibe but the food was really bad. I ordered a cheeseburger - the portion was small, the bun was basic and fell apart, and the meet and cheese had no flavor. Fries were good.

I really appreciated the ambiance of the place, it felt warm and cozy. The food wasn’t anything special. My boyfriend ordered the Chilaquiles and I got a kids pancake with strawberries, banana, and whipped cream (all on the side). For drinks we got a coffee and a chai latte. The chai was amazing and had a nice design, the coffee was very burnt. We waited a while for our food and when it arrived both plates weren’t warm. Multiple tables that sat after us got their plates first. My pancake had the strawberries and banana cooked inside and no whipped cream, I had to call the waitress over again. My boyfriend could tell the chilaquiles were sitting out because the black beans had a crust on them… A lot of the white on his sunny side up egg wasn’t cooked, the avocado had substantial black spots on it which should’ve been cut off, and you can taste that the salsa isn’t made in house. Service was minimal. Wouldn’t come back unfortunately.

The server brought creamer in a dirty jar that had an open splenda package inside, as if they poured the creamer on a jar that they just pick from a previous customer. the eggs on the breakfast were overcooked, when I mention about the bad experience to the server he was arrogant and no taking accountability, literally challenging me saying that I should have said that before so they can change it, but considering the dirty creamer jar, I honestly didn’t trust nor want anything else coming from that kitchen.

Alas, how the mighty have fallen. We have enjoyed Grey Dog plenty in the past, the last time coming in April. We always enjoyed their soups which, although expensive, we thought were filling and delicious. Unfortunately, Grey Dog Chelsea has really implemented a "shrinkflation" agenda with gusto. They not only raised the prices on their tomato soup, but provided less of it. The soup now comes in a smaller bowl, filled barely 2/3rds of the way. And the parmesan crisp which garnishes the soup was missing. The bread was fine, but had no butter or anything to go with it (which it used to have). I can't imagine the mind of the individual who thought that a cup's worth of soup matched by a piece of untoasted bread cut in two was worth $9.50. However, what soup there was, was delicious as always. The chicken sandwich was also tasty, but suffered from a similar problem of providing far too little food to justify the $16.50 price point. Our server was pleasant enough, but did not check on us until we had almost finished our food, giving us no polite opportunity to ask if the kitchen had simply forgotten to add a parmesan crisp or fill the soup up normally. In summary: good flavor, good environment, but obscene prices even for the neighborhood, which returning customers will recognize is married to smaller portions.

The food was extremely below average. Ended up pretty much giving back the entire plate without eating a thing. I was working out of the place and the waitress came up to me saying that they have a “no laptop during Sunday brunch” policy. The policy seemed pretty made up to me given that the food was just lying there and it probably did not reflect well on their skills. They wanted to match the service to the level of food to try to cover up for it, I guess :) Attaching a picture of what was sent back - because the food was intolerable!

I walked in and the host was very rude and sat me by the bathroom when he had most of the tables free, hibiscus tea was not brewed properly it tasted like water, food tasted like it was old and was just sitting there cold. Overall experience would not ever go again.
