Food quality is top tier, and service is excellent. I was attended by James (I think that was the name) and he was very kind and attentive! First time to an Omakase and wow, no better place to go.
One of the best Omakase’s for the price in the city. Amazing ambience and the sushi is top notch. Sushi was fresh and the presentation was beautiful. Chef Simon is the best! Second time going and sitting at Simon’s station and he did not disappoint. Simon’s attention to detail and his shownanship are amazing. Great food and a great show. The Kyoto White Yuzu beer and the Nanbu Bijin Sake were amazing as well.
I had a wonderful experience at this sushi restaurant. Chef Simon was incredibly attentive and put so much care into every dish he prepared. You can really tell that he is passionate about his craft. What made the experience even better was that he took the time to explain each piece of sushi, including the ingredients and flavors, which made the meal both enjoyable and educational. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. Highly recommend this place, especially if you have the chance to sit at the counter and watch Chef Simon at work.
Lovely little spot for omakase! Our chef was helpful with describing each piece we had and it was a good experience, especially for some first timers. I could really appreciate the flavors and textures in each set. I loved the unagi so much I went for the a la carte options after the course set.
Went here for a date night and it was so fun and classy! We were so full after the 13-course omakase but we really wanted to try more, so we also ordered the wagyu and one of the limited time options. The chef was so knowledgeable and kind and the serving staff were very efficient. I also got one of their cocktails and it was delicious and not too strong. Reserve ahead and please tip well!
This was such an amazing omakase experience. Each fish was so excellent tasting and good quality - and such a steal for the price. Jeremy served us and it was like watching an artist create his craft. He was knowledgeable about the fish origins and just made the whole experience amazing. I will definitely be back.
I was blown away by this omakase! First of all, 58$ per person??? Such a steal! And all of the sushi and rolls are made from premium cuts of fish. Second of all, our chef, Chef Simon, was such a funny, generous, and lovely chef. My mom and I had a blast chatting with him and learning about the different fish we were eating. Not to mention, the portions were generous and delicious! The only downside were the cocktails were pretty weak, but regardless I highly recommend this omakase and ask for Chef Simon when you go! 🤗🤗
They took us in as a walk in and the food was delicious. Wonderful service. They start the meals on the hour and it’s made right in front of you. Definitely worth the trip. Their lunch is $48 for 11 courses or dinner is $10 more for 13 courses. Definitely recommend the waygu and unagi!! Will 1000% be back!
Had the best experience at Tsumo! The vibe was super chill but still classy, and everything from start to finish was amazing. Our chef, Simon, was incredible — every dish he made was on point! You can tell he really knows what he’s doing and loves what he does. Each plate looked beautiful and tasted even better. He also took the time to explain what he was serving, which made it feel really personal and fun. The staff were super friendly and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in NYC loved the kyoto matcha IPA!!! — can’t wait to go back!
Had a great time tonight at Tsumo! All thanks goes to Jeremy, our chef. He was very friendly and explained patiently about what each piece of sushi was. Jeremy is also very skillful in making the pieces. Everything was delicious and of amazing quality and beautiful. Service was also great and our waitress was very attentive. I love the atmosphere. Will definitely come back and I highly recommend Tsumo and Jeremy!
Wow, an amazing omasaka experience! Omasaka lunch with 11 courses made it a tough call for us to pick the best dish. The fishe's were top-notch, fresh, and bursting with flavor, which made it even tougher to pick a favorite.. Apparently, they import the fishes themselves from Japan. An attentive and pleasant service together with a smooth and pleasant sake made everything even better.
This omakase spot was absolutely amazing! The food was super fresh, no fishy taste at all, unlike some even more expensive places I’ve tried before. The price is very reasonable and the value you get is incredible. Our sushi chef Jeremy was not only highly skilled but also really fun to chat with, which made the whole experience even better. To be honest, it might be the best value omakase restaurant in all of New York!
At $58 per person for 13 courses, Tsumo is probably the best omakase deal in the entire city, especially for still being good quality sushi. I have this year's list of NYC Omakase restaurants and am slowly checking many off, and the sushi at Tsumo was just as good as most omakase restaurants I've visited in the city. Obviously, they aren't on par with some of the top top places I've been fortunate to experience, but those are a different experience entirely and not places I would want to return to anytime soon because they're so expensive and sometimes difficult to book. If you want omakase, but don't want to burn a hole in your wallet, but still want decent quality, go to Tsumo. It was so good that we added a few extra pieces and left feeling satisfied without breaking bank. Making the reservation online was easy, just make sure you and everyone in your party shows up on time to get seated right away and not be charged a no-show fee. Only suggested I'd make to them is to have a draft beer option, but I understand if the restaurant might not be set up for this to be feasible (canned Japanese beer is not draft beer, even if it says draft on the can), I still want to return regardless. Great experience overall.
Had an absolutely amazing omakase experience here! 🍣✨ Chef Henry is incredibly skilled and thoughtful — from start to finish, every dish was perfectly balanced and beautifully crafted. The fish was unbelievably fresh, the knife work so precise, and the seasoning and textures were spot on. Each bite felt like a little surprise of flavors. What I really appreciated was how Chef Henry took the time to introduce each course, sharing the story and inspiration behind the dishes. It made the whole experience not only delicious but also meaningful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it easy to relax and fully enjoy the meal. Highly recommend booking here!!
Our chef was very kind and good at his job. The food was quite good for the price. I didn’t have high expectations for such an affordable omakase but I was happy with every piece the chef made. Since it’s an open kitchen you can see every move the chef makes. I questioned the cleanliness of the kitchen. There was a chef that would use one washcloth to wipe the kitchen counter, knife, cutting board, and then just run it over water and reuse it over and over again. The chefs were opening fridge doors with their gloved hands that they used to make the sushi. Things like that bothered me a bit and that’s why I gave 4 stars
currently going viral on social media because of how affordable it is. i expected them to churn us out and i was correct. there was really no consideration for pacing. each piece kept coming and there were times i had two pieces in queue because i actually was chatting with my friend versus slamming down the nigiri. tbh it was to be expected given the price point and their business model. i loved everything (except for the salmon). i found it to be tasteless. otherwise, the flavors were fresher than your typical sushi joint and pretty straightforward. separately, i didn't like the plates they chose because you can see the sushi sweat left on the plate… not cute.
