Great atmosphere. The bouncer was wonderful and got us a great table. I had the black and gold - delicious! Everyone else seemed to enjoy their drinks too. I appreciated that this was a nice, upscale place without any New York pretentiousness. All good vibes in a old school theme setting.
The guy at the door was really nice and got us the best table, and we didn't make the reservation, we been there early earlier, was on Friday, the bar is really comfortable, good service and the drinks are great
Our bartender Vlad had a lots of patience for us! Cocktails he makes are super delicious! The bar is super lucky to have him there
Spectacular place!! Incredible music, ambiance and service! 10/10!
Wish I could gatekeep this gem 💎 my (now) husband and I had our first few dates here - it's super romantic, the cocktails are classy classics with a twist (the Green Dolphin, Earl Grey Martini, Pisco Sour and Birth of Cool are delish - the butterfly pea flower infused gin sour with egg whites inspired us to serve our own variation at our wedding), and the music - it's excellent. We now frequent as regulars. The owner (who often sits out front and super friendly) is deeply passionate about curating excellence and it shows. He brings only the best of the best in jazz. There is a bar up front and a jazz room in the back for performances. If you aren't able to snag a ticket to a show, you can sit at the end of the bar and still get to enjoy some of the music. For shows, we sometimes bring our own bottle of red wine. Love the exterior - feels very Miyazaki-esque, transporting you to another time in another world. The interior - very art deco, cozy yet refined. This spot is such a hidden gem and though I would've loved to keep it our little secret nook, great treasures like this need to be shared with the world and cherished by many!
Terrific, unmistakable, beautiful ambiance, in the back the stage and the seating are magically placed, you feel transported to France in the 30’s the musicians that the select are amazing. The bar is also simply beautiful, drinks are exceptional. I almost forgot the Welcoming by the gentlemen at the door is insuperable. Probably a musician as well. If you haven’t been you must go.
Loved this place. Atmosphere is very art deco, feels like you’re traveling make in time. Service was great. The cocktails are tasty and well-done.
The bartender is amazing, super fun makes you feel cozy and like you’re in a good place I think it was the owners son, very cute too ;) AMAZING drinks. Would recommend
Fantastic atmosphere. Vibrant! Pleasant people and great service! Highly recommend for an amazing musical experience
Great music, very helpful staff!
One of the most gorgeous spaces in the city, don’t sleep on Zinc Bar. As soon as you enter, you’re in a 1920’s time warp. It’s my favorite place in the city for a cocktail. And comedy show! (That I host there, I’m bias) Thursday 6/13 7pm!
AMAZING!!! nowhere else a better spot to spend my New Year's eve! In great company and enjoying the performing art of a legend, Mr.Tony Middleton and his extraordinary band. nice, chill place and I simply loved it. perfect spot to go in the evening, sit back, have a drink and enjoy high quality performances.
A classic N.Y.C Jazz spot. New location from the Houston street locale. I remember being on Houston street the legendary Drummer Victor Jones had finished his first set. I went to the front bar and they were playing music. I asked what it was cause the album he had played was Cal Tjader's Sol sauce. It had relaxed me. I was buzzed but, it put me in a good place, good vibe.
Super cool bar! I really enjoyed the drinks and the entire vibe of the place.
came by while visiting nyc and this bar was fantastic. super lowkey old speakeasy vibes. feels really sophisticated but also very cosy and comfortable. the staff was super friendly and service was great. the drinks are strong and the performance from the group that played that night was super fun. i’m not even a huge jazz fan but i really recommend giving this place a visit.
I was looking for a Jazz bar and stumbled upon Zinc bar looking for some Jazz. I walked in and was able to get a seat by the bar. I did not enter the room where the music was. It was a Thursday night that was Cuban Jazz. I felt lucky to be able to hear the jass play while I enjoyed a glass of red wine by the bar. I think it was a Bordeaux wine. Very rich and fruity with almost cherry notes. The staff was very friendly and attentive, providing menus as well as the bill when asked. The Cuban Jazz night is an absolute must! I will be back here. I can tell they make great drinks here and yet to try the food, but the menu looks inviting. Friendly staff from the door to the bar, perfect for catch up with friends or a date night.
This place is such a hidden gem. Had a lovely time here enjoying classic jazz and trying their many delicious drinks. The staff are so warm, welcoming, and FUN! The people who attend are kind patrons who enhance the ambiance of the bar. I had the best time and cannot wait to come back!
The atmosphere at this place is really down to earth. It's a little divey but in a classy way. The stage is closed off to the bar and you need to pay a $15-20 cover to get in there, but you can hear the music from the bar and small lounge area. Bartender was awesome. If you are a music nerd or appreciate art in any way you would enjoy this place.
5 star vibe 😍 Sat for a live jazz show. The space, dim lighting, the espresso martinis, seating; everything was perfect for a night out. 🌙
Have been to Zinc a few times and it has always been a great experience! From catching a deink wirh a friend after work, to sitting on an amazing show, the atmosphere is always chill and classy. The non alcoholic mojitos were delicious, and the chips are also great for sitting at the bar. Reasonable cover cost for a really outstanding show (30 dol)! Will definetly be coming again.
A must visit spot if you like jazz music. The atmosphere and music made for an excellent evening out.
Didn't have food, really good custom drinks. Smooth jazz music... very nice
Very nice place they have good drinks and they also have shows that go on as well. The people who work there are very nice and kind. Would definitely go again
This unassuming location has fantastic jazz music, an intimate outdoor seating, and some amazing cocktails. Drop by if you're in the area! :) Update: Visited Zinc Bar again (sat indoors this time) and the vibe is amazing. We went on a Saturday night (the night when there is no live music) but it was still as amazing as the last time. Looking forward to being back soon!
Wish this bar was close to me in London - I would def be a regular. The 1920’s atmosphere, the zinc-topped bar, superb cocktails, and the relaxed and cool staff attracts an upscale but hip clientele. Will be back when I am next in NYC.
Great vibes and martinis, they have live jazz but I’ve honestly only stayed in the front of the bar.
An electric venue — incredible staff, gorgeous interior and s/o Samuel Torres and band for a night of unforgettable latin jazz. And, a delicious espresso martini to boot!
Definitely love the variety of drinks! Went there last week and definitely see myself coming back if around the area and having a few drinks. The only thing I would say is that the bread they have is good but very very small. If thinking to share you’re better off getting two. They also have performances on the night and it’s a $35 cover, different from the bar itself.
Went sat at the bar, got lucky and was able to sit right in the middle, super friendly staff. Went specifically to try the Frank Sinatra Espresso Martini, it was amazing, the chocolate was special and gave it a perfect dessert taste at the end. Next I tried the Stranger in the Night. Super well balanced I recommend it if you like citrus with your mango.
A perfect spot for live jazz lovers. The atmosphere is warm and intimate. The music room feels and sounds fantastic. The band played with real passion — every solo alive. Staff is attentive without being intrusive. It’s the kind of club where you can lose yourself in the music and forget the outside world for a few hours. Highly recommended.
Went here on a Wednesday night to see a performance of a friend of mine, and absolutely loved this place! The decor is very pleasant (Art Deco that doesn't feel tacky), with a comfy seating area. Although we were very close to the stage, I didn't feel like the noise level was too high. I also loved that all other patrons were very respectful and there was no loud talking or clanking of cutlery. We stayed for both shows 7 and 8:30pm - it never got too busy but just enough to have a very comfortable atmosphere. There were also a few solo listeners, which is always lovely to see.
Superb Jazz Club. The best talents play here in a wonderful art deco environment. You will enjoy a perfectly mixed cocktail served by an attentive and curteous staff. I listened to Benito Gonzalez, two time grammy nominee, on the black and white ivories accompanied by Will Slater on bass and Josh Green on drums all while sipping my martini. It was a wonderful evening. You will have a good time.
Zinc Bar, located on West 3rd Street in the West Village of New York City, is such a fantastic spot for a cocktail!! The staff here are so kind & accommodating, and the atmosphere inside of this bar is incredible. I recently visited with friends after attending a show at The Bitter End, and it was the perfect spot for a nightcap + intimate conversation. Their take on the espresso martini is absolutely killer, and their cocktails are generally delicious. I love this spot so much - I'm looking forward to returning!!
We stumbled into Zinc Bar by accident on New Year’s Eve. This is one of the coolest places I have ever been to. Everyone on the team was warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is hip and cozy. There isn’t anything to not completely enjoy about this hidden gem. The libations are expertly crafted and each sip is delightful. Treat yourself to an amazing cocktail and experience Zinc Bar today. Can’t wait to go back. Have been back several times. Each is better than the last. Love this place. God Bless America! God Bless Blue & Gold! Remember Everyone Deployed Everyday!
Fantastic jazz bar! I've never been to one before and assumed the music would be a background experience, but you go for a performance and it is phenomenal. Staff is attentive and friendly. I highly recommend paying the cover fee to actually sit and watch the event - it's worth it!
Little gem of a place tucked away downstairs on 3rd. Nice bar in front and a surprisingly large performance space in back. Drinks are good, but very minimal beer selection all in bottles. Goose island is as close to craft as you'll see. Service was good, though it was just us. We saw Frank Lacy on a Tuesday night with a $15 cover. Place was vacant. Lacy is a talented trombone player I've no doubt, but had neither the energy nor the creativity to lead a 3-piece band this night, forcing a drum solo on every song. 1 drum solo A night is more than enough for me, generally. We left early, but I'll be back to sample some of the other musical offerings, I like the ambiance of the place. The website could sure use an update. No one has empty front pages that you have to "click enter" (except for porn).
Very nice place! Felt like you were transported to the 20's/30's jazz scene. Lots of velvet and gold accents 😍 The drinks were about $15-20, and the selection of liquor they had was fairly small. (Only 1 or 2 brands of each liquor) I had a chocolate martini with whipped cream. The service was nice as well! They allowed you to have time to relax and drink, and enjoy the company in front of you. I never felt rushed or bombarded with service, but they checked in at the right moments. If you want a relaxing lounge experience with classic cocktails, jazz and good company- this is a great place to try.
The place is nice but is more for like a date. I came with my sister on a Friday and we where expecting live music but we pick the wrong day for it. I think they say there's only live music on Saturday, don't remember well. Drinks weren't so good but the service was excellent, I remember we ask the waitress to change one of our drinks cuz my sister didn't like it and they did it without any charge.
Saw a friend perform here and really enjoyed the overall vibe—beautiful ambience, solid drinks, and great live jazz. The customer service was friendly, but not as attentive as I’d expect for a place with a $35 music cover. Chairs (not the sofa seating) had worn leather, which felt a bit off for the upscale setting. Also noticed the server didn’t check in much during the set—not even for the performer, who had no water refill despite being on stage. Still, the atmosphere was memorable and the music fantastic. A good experience, but a few details held it back from being great.
I love this place. The staff are great and the vibes are perfect. Such a great spot. HOWEVER, the drinks are nearly undrinkable. Been here 3 times in the past few months and don't think I can come back and torture myself again. The worst I've had in the city. Dive bar quality drinks at cocktail bar prices. I'm writing this review in hopes that it inspires ownership to take their beverages more seriously. Would love to come back and find that the drinks have turned around.
Hellooo!! Well honestly the slowest service in a long time. Twenty mins to get a frozen mojito and a cider. We had to ask for water twice. I do not understand new yorkers attitude when go out of town and demand fast service or complaint for minor things when they have standard slow service in their own place. Hope customer service improves a lot here. See yall soon.
After sleeping on this for 24 hours, the disappointment hasn’t lessened. We loved the ambiance. The service was very slow, drinks were meh and Zinc offered only one way overpriced munchie selection. I hate to say anything negative about the performance as the musicians were fabulous for the 50 minutes or so they actually performed. The legendary singer only sang two songs. I suspect the later show might offer up more songs. This was not a not to be missed performance. I hate leaving such reviews but I believe it could be helpful in trying to decide on one of the many fabulous clubs in the city. Wasn’t worth the $400 for 4 people for an hours worth of entertainment.
The live music was amazing and the history lesson in the beginning was very nice. The 3 stars are for the live music and the history lesson. As well as half of the drink proceeds going to immigration services. We had a good time BUT as I was paying my bill, the lady tried to SCOLD me for a higher tip! She stated that “most people tip x amount” I told her well I am tipping this because our server did not check on us at all, I had to get up multiple times to order more drinks and food. Which they only have the tiniest flatbreads and she said “I’m going to call her over here and you can tell her that” as if calling our waiter over was going to change anything. The lady charging my card wasn’t even our server!! I told the server the same thing, that she was very nice but did not check on us not once and I had to get up to order more rounds multiple times. The server was fine, the one charging me was not. I don’t know if she went in herself and put the tip she wanted but according to my bill, I tipped $55 which was 25% of the bill. More than enough for someone who did not provide good service.
I came visiting from FL - our server was very sweet and she made sure we had everything we need. For the most part all the servers are very attentive. However, there is a bartender with glasses who was just absolutely terrible. He was always on his phone, eating garnished from the bar, and just made terrible drinks. If you order a drink, ask for another bartender to make it. Other than that, very cool and nice bar. I'd recommend asking another bartender to make your drink.
The place and the band were really nice. The cocktails had ice chips in them and they skimp on the egg whites in the sours. Above average pricing for below average drinks. I would have still left 4 stars but felt very disrespected by one of the hosts. Here’s what happened.. one of the ladies rest room doors doesn’t lock. My wife was using the restroom and asked me to stand outside to make sure no one walks in on her. I must have waited in total about 2 minutes. One set of ladies came to the powder room area and I explained the situation to them and they didn’t seem to have a problem and understood where I was coming from and why I was standing there. 10 seconds later the host walks in and tells me to stand at the entrance of the powder room instead and his words were “you’re standing outside the ladies room” when I explained the situation to him he said “It’s kinda weird what you’re doing there” i apologized and left, though I found this to be quite disrespectful and it left a very bad taste. I actually love the music at this place and the vibe but this completely ruined it for me. Probably won’t ever go back after this.. my point is if you’re concerned about women feeling uncomfortable why not make sure the restroom door locks in the first place? Ruined what was otherwise a good evening and show.
Not the most romantic space to take a date if you get seated at the bar. It was nice to speak with the son of the owner for a bit, cause he was kind of funny, but it got a little excessive at one point. My drink was alright.
I've been coming here for years -- as a love of jazz and in a sincere desire to support NY clubs -- and yet the service keeps treating me and my friends like trash, while charging us obscene prices for average drinks. Plus, the club tried to force you to pay tax and tip on top of a relatively high cover charge, so watch your bills. The vibe and music are good and I want this place to keep going. But these scummy practices aren't engendering good will and make it difficult to support.
I’m rating a 2 star only because the website was not clear on their weekend schedule. I attended on a Saturday which is listed as “open” . I tried to call prior to make sure I did not need reservations but their number listed did not work. I went anyway with the expectation that there would be live jazz. However, when we arrived, they stated there was no live music on Saturdays. Multiple people had the same expectation and were also disappointed and left . I stayed since I drove almost one hour to attend. Ordered some cocktails. Cocktails were underwhelming. Unfortunately the hype on IG did not live up.
Talented musicians, delicious drinks. The good things end there. Top 5 worst service experiences I’ve had in the city. Took me 20 minutes to order a drink at a bar of 10 people and sat in the lounge for 45 minutes with no drink or water before the waitress came over…we were already ready to leave by then. So much potential but they need a staff cleanout.
Unfriendly staff. I didn’t even stay to give it a try, the first impression was already spoiled.
BEWARE OF THIS PLACE and read the reviews. The owner is a drunk and a SCAMMER. They tell you as you are walking in the door that there is a cover of $30pp for the jazz show in the back and that drinks will be DEDUCTED from that cost. But NO they add it to the bill. When we told our waitress she quickly ran off and called the manager (clearly not their first rodeo). The manager who was DRUNK came over to us. Eyes rolling to the back of his head and slurring his words and goes you guys heard what you wanted to hear. Disgusting accusation. Never ever ever supporting this business again. Save your money!!
Went to a show last week. Venue was unorganized and dirty. The seats were spread so far apart, couldn't even enjoy the music because of the awkward seating. The drinks took so long to be delivered and were filled with pulp, and disgusting, we didn't even drink them. With cocktails at $20 and up should at least be strained. Waste of time and money.
Great music, BUT ask about the cover charge! Neither the host nor the waitress told us about the cover charge, so when we got the bill an extra 60-70$ was tacked on with both the waitress and host blaming each other. We were also there maybe 40 min tops. Really a shame because it makes you inclined not to come back despite the good music.
The band was excellent but we left with a bad taste. When we arrived a group of 3 people, the host accompanied us and explained to us that there is a minimum of $30 per person. He didn't bother to point out that only the entrance was $30, and that there was another drink minimum, but made it sound like everyone had to order at least $30. When we confronted the manager and the host they denied. Of course, this is a method that should work on tourists, and it's no less than stealing. If we had been told that only the entrance was $30 we would not have bothered to order so many things from the menu. When we asked to see the printed bill the waitress said she could not print it for us. Dishonest people, we left very disappointed with the experience. I don't care about the amount I paid as much as the feeling that I was cheated. Don't go there!
One of the most unprofessional bar experiences I’ve ever had. The doorman was incredibly rude and refused to sit us inside because we were in Knicks gear. After giving us an outdoor table, they refused to serve us. The server that did come outside served the table next to us, proceeded to accidentally spill a glass of water on a chair, and blame our group for it. In a part of the city filled with amazing bars, inclusionary environments and friendly, helpful staffs, this establishment is a black dot. Do yourself a favor and visit other places in the area.
It’s a total ripoff. They charged us 35$ cover charge. We came in at the end of a set. They said the band will be up in 20 minutes. They began the set after an hour and then they played 3 songs and they finished the gig. Not mentioning the level of music which was outrageous the charged us 46$ more for 2 glasses of horrible wine. We ended up with 100$ short for 3 songs. Never again….
Strange, sexist treatment from Joe the bartender tonight. Seemed happy to tend to some patrons and even let them in without a cover charge all while totally ignoring others yet insisting they pay the cover.
Disappointing I'm a big jazz fan and love a small jazz bar normally having visited a fair few in London ! Unfortunately as others have said this place is let down by the rude staff ! We are 30 yr old women the bar tender laughed at us when we ordered a beer and a cocktail.... We asked him why he said they cocktail we ordered isn't very good ? And said we should have ordered a espresso (we don't like coffee) There was a miscommunication with the bouncer that made us think the music would start at 9.30 not doors open at 9.30 ... By 10.15 it still hasn't started so we asked for our money back as we where tired and ready to head back by that time ....he shouted at us and tried to be intimidating.... I didn't respond It felt like a toxic place to work the girls working there seemed lovely and helpful but you could tell they had to be stern in the environment, there's so many better jazz bars up the road
The Brasilean band was supposed to start at 9 PM last night. But they started 45 minutes later. I did have an excellent caipirinha. The band was just a trio. The main leader from São Paulo who was doing the drumming and the singing had a terrible voice especially in English. I wanted to hear Brasilean songs in Portuguese not in English! But the worse was the drumming- so disturbing to my ears that I had to use my ear pods to protect myself. The band leader talked to much and sang too little. It was a rather short program for a $35 cover. I haven’t been at the Zinc Bar for at least three years since the renovation and It was disappointing. Except for the caipirinha.
Cool and niche night bar. They sat us in the private room, to later move us to 2 shitty stools lol. Drinks are over priced, service was subpar and not worth it the wait nor the price. Drinks are usually $20 without feeling a buzz or tipsy. To enter the "jazz room" is additional $35 PP. My gf and I ordered some bar food and drinks. Only food they have are these shitty flat breads lmao. Drinks took 15 minutes, our food was served to the wrong table. They gave us the food on the house which sucks to wait 30 mins for flatbreads. We never got water and never was asked for more drinks. Really hope they learn to appreciate every client that comes in. GO TO MADAME GEORGE in Chelsea instead.
I waited for a year to make it to Zinc after a surgery, i finally went on Friday and brought a friend. A simple question at the entrance was handled unecessarily rude. I didn't get to enjoy a drink or any music. This left me with a bad taste in my mouth. If anyone cares at all about this, it was the employee with the Hat- even if he is the owner he should not treat people that way. I am a musician who also studied business in school, i definitely know that this not how any customer should be treated.
I visited Zinc Bar for the first time and the experience was disappointing from the moment we approached the bar. The music and atmosphere were solid, but the service was unexpectedly hostile. The bartenders were noticeably unfriendly, avoided acknowledging us, and placed our drinks down with visible irritation. What made the situation worse was the contrast in how other guests were treated. We watched multiple groups receive warm, attentive service while we were ignored. Given that we are Black, it was hard not to feel singled out. Whether intentional or not, the difference in treatment was obvious and uncomfortable. A place can have good music, but respectful service matters. Based on this experience, I would not return and cannot recommend Zinc Bar.
The staff were so moody and rude. Completely ruined the vibe of what could be such a cool place. Male bar tender was short with us, rude and sarcastic, just really horrible and such a vibe kill. He also tried to overcharge my dad $50 on our bill, a different member of staff (female) snapped at my mom when we asked to amend this, despite it being their mistake??? Just a super bizarre, horrible attitude from the staff. I don't recommend this bar (there are much better in the area), and will not be returning.
