Great food and service. Hand rolls are best. Yellowtail kama juicy and well seasoned.
Hands down best sushi restaurant I’ve been to I love everything about it, service, food, everything really is top tier.
I don't 'do' sushi, but was with friends who do. I had the chicken teriyaki and it was delicious, really really good. I'll be back!
Sushi Oaks is indeed the BEST around. I have been a customer for 20 years. I travel for my job and eat sushi all over so my rating is substantially quantified! The owner and staff are so nice and so dedicated. The owner is very thorough in his approach with everything which comes through in every fresh dish that is served!
Best sushi I' ve ever had. It's a simple looking place, until you taste the food and it becomes spectacular. People that work here are absolutely friendly and nice. The food... It's a wonderful experience. You might have to wait in line but for me was only 20 minures. From now on anytime I want eat sushi this is going to be my place.
Wonderful sushi and service. The fish is always very fresh and flavorful. I am not a "roll person" myself, but when my dining companions order them and I sample, they are always fresh, creative, and quite large.
Great little gem in Newbury Park. Sushi is always fantastic. My go to item to start off is the bird hand roll. The crispy onion albacore is a cant miss
Our favorite sushi place in the Conejo Valley. One or the other of two lovely Japanese families has owned and run this place forever. All throughout the pandemic, the carryout portions were delicious, generous, and very consistent. Post-pandemic, we are really looking forward to joining the throngs of neighbors we regularly see at Sushi Oaks for dinner. Our favorites: Nomo Roll, Sapporo Roll, Salmon Belly, and Freshwater Eel.
So the wait was a while but the food and the service made it so worth it!!!! No matter how full it is, those server ladies are very attentive and very respectful and fast for serving you and making sure you are taken care of!!! And the chef's definitely put love and effort into the food!!!! This place is worth it all for sure!!!!
What a gem. Customers around me seemed to be regulars. Tucked away in a little mall, I didn't expect too much. The staff was lovely. Highly recommend the BK Roll, yum! Food was super fresh, service was excellent.
Good place to get sushi. The food is fresh made. Really enjoyed all the different kinds of sushi 🍣 rolls. I will come again again. Good prices too.
Easily the best sushi restaurant I've ever been to and sushi is my favorite food.. it's a 10/10 If you like spicy tuna get the red dragon with macquire sauce and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Food is consistently good as if you had order it the same day. Other places the servings vary quite a bit, not this place. Food is really tasty and fish high quality
Excellent sushi, probably the best in the Conejo Valley. Very nice people working there. Also very busy.
Kind of small and very busy, but the food is fantastic. They need more staff or something for how busy it is, so you should expect a wait.
I have been enjoying amazing sushi and wonderfully friendly staff at this restaurant for over a decade and have yet to be disappointed. Beautiful atmosphere and conveniently located to the 101 freeway.
First visit but certainly won't be my last! Delicious food, ample portions and very friendly service. My new fave.
My favorite sushi restaurant for a night out. Sapporo roll, BS Roll, McQwire roll are always awesome! Love this place!
Ive been coming to this place for a while now and their sushi is always fresh and delicious. I really recommend this place!
Been coming here as long as I can remember. Best sushi!! Will always recommend
Fantastic fresh sushi! The staff here is so sweet and the chefs are very talented.
Great local spot with a diverse menu and lots of healthy options. Super attentive wait staff.
Good food all the time. The restaurant was busy and it was only 5 when we went there. The takeout orders seemed to equal the dine in orders.
Always friendly, great service and good food. You'll Enjoy It!
Love the place. Friendly stuff and great food. Delicious.

Love the place. Friendly stuff and great food. Delicious.
Great local sushi place. Sushi prices were average and the food and presentation was above average. I have eaten sushi at almost the majority of places in Thousand oaks area (not to mention in every city I visit) and this is a top notch place even though its a small place. The service is awesome, everyone pitched in and were timely and appropriate with their service. Sushi chefs were friendly and helpful. Will make this my go to from now on
The sushi was awesome and the new owner is super nice and accommodating. My friends go here a lot and it is one of their favorite sushi restaurants. You won't be disappointed, give it a try.
This has always been one of my fav sushi places with a diversified selection of sushi so when I heard there were new owners I was hoping it would be consistent...and it is! The same sushi chefs still working behind the bar assures that and it felt like the same Sushi Q as before with its great food and sushi!
Sushi Oaks is a hidden gem in Thousand Oaks. The fish is incredibly fresh, and their spicy tuna hand rolls are easily some of the best I’ve ever had perfect texture, just the right balance of ingredients . Everything here is clean, balanced, and clearly made with care. Great service, chill atmosphere, no fluff just top-tier sushi done right. Highly recommend.
I’ve been going here for 25+ years, service is always fast awesome and friendly. It’s great to always run into someone that you haven’t seen in a while.
Excellent sushi! Delicious rolls, fresh ingredients and well prices. Coming from LA where many sushi spots are expensive with small portions- ܰܰ Sushi Oaks is a friendly spot where you will consistently enjoy a great dinner out!
I have been eating sushi for over 30 years and have enjoyed sushi all over the US and the world (including Japan). I can honestly say that Sushi Oaks is one of the best if not the best sushi restaurants I have had the pleasure to dine in. The fish is always top notch. The flavors of the rolls are fantastic. Try the Bird Handroll!
Overall good food, friendly staff.
Since Sushi Oaks does not have a website, I was using the menus posted online for pricing. Chicken Teriyaki dinner was 9.95, now 13.00 - California roll was 5.00 or 5.50, now 6.95 - just a heads up regarding the pricing. Food was very, very good. My favorite place to get rolls. YUM!
Always a great time at Sushi Oaks. Our favorite roll was probably the albacore special but the BK was solid as well; one could say the albacore had umami going for it. No phone eats first here; our plates were empty.
The difference between a good restaurant and a great restaurant are in the small details. The hot green tea was a blend with toasted brown rice and took me by pleasant surprise. The Philadelphia Roll portion was not only big, but had a smattering of raisins, nuts, and executed very distinctly from your usual strip mall sushi fare. We just had a quick lunch but can totally say this place is a neighborhood gem. My only regret is that I don't live closer for a quality sushi fix.

First time there. Attentive service and the food was amazing. I even got a second soup to wash it down after. Definitely will be back.

Service is good, food is delicious. The spicy baked crab hand roll w/ soy paper was really good.
Great sushi, the halibut with the lime and the salty zesty thing is just outstanding. Don't care for the Chef who mean mugs you! But maybe that's the shtick...who knows. I'll keep coming back but the moment this guy cracks a smile, I promise we're bumping it to full stars.
This is my go to sushi restaurant in newbury park. The food and service is always consistently good.
I e lived in Np for a long time and have never been here before- I don’t know why. I went here and the food was really yummy and was served quickly, even though the restaurant was full. It’s a small restaurant but we were able to get a table after a 10 minute wait on a Friday night. We started with the edamame and gyoza which was fresh and crunchy. I then ordered the albacore sashimi in ponzu sauce, the Special tempura roll, which was made with the thin paper instead of rice on the outside and had good flavor. We also got a regular shrimp tempura roll which was yummy. Lastly we got the Pink Cadillac roll which is salmon with a teriyaki glaze on top. It was baked and I really enjoyed it all! I will be back for sure!

Long, long wait times for table and take out. They do their best but it's often an hour or more. No reservations

Great service. Quick food. Make sure that what you want is on the menu for however you are getting your food. Dine in, carry out, and ordered to go all have different menus. Couldn't get the lunch special because I wanted to take it with me. Ended up getting some random roll that tastes okay, but it's a lot less food for a lot more money. I spent almost twice what I meant to, here. Probably won't be coming back.
Used to be my favorite spot. New ownership took over and is changing everything slowly, it’s not as good. Operationally changes are fine, like sure open the sushi bar but keep the food the same please. Add NEW items if you want, instead of changing the old ones. And whoever slices your sushi’s isn’t as consistent/good. It’s the little things that add up. For example the spicy tuna. And, one dish used to be sliced perfectly, now the fish is a little bit thicker and inconsistent. Sounds great, more fish right? Thats what I thought, then I took a bite and because of the new thickness it doesn’t melt in your mouth anymore and the flavor proportions are off.
There is often a long wait on Fridays and weekend nights, but I honestly don’t really see the hype. The sushi is just okay, probably better quality than most that you can find in Ventura County, but the cuts of fish, especially salmon sashimi and scallop nigiri are so thin that it doesn’t justify the price at all. And it’s very pricy for what you get!

Sushi Oaks? More like Sushi Choked. Food was great, service was beyond bad. They ignored us so much I wondered if I got up and left would they even notice.
It’s not Tomodashi of Westlake Village- Last night we decided to try Sushi Oaks for the first time. This restaurant came highly recommended by many people. Unfortunately from the moment we sat down we were completely ignored. We had to flag a server down for everything from drinks to food to where’s our food to plates, even begging for our check just so we could finally put an end to the bad experience. I will say that the food is great. It was very fresh and well prepared- 5 stars for food for sure. However, after a long week at work my husband, two young boys and myself were looking forward to a nice delicious experience at a new restaurant for us. Didn’t happen, we were all really disappointed so much so that it took away from the good food. When you see table after table of people coming in after you who are greeted, seated at a table, get served, eat and pay their check before you have even eaten any sushi, something is very wrong. I felt like they knew the locals and we were new, so screw us. Needless to say we gave them a “wake-up” talking to and left. We will never be back because why should we ever deviate from the best sushi place in the area- Tomodashi in Westlake- always 5-star, always great service- hell at least they start with a “hello”! Drive to Tomodashi in Westlke Village it’s light years beyond Sushi Oaks.
I disagreed with some of the reviews. My recent visit at this restaurant was not very good. The fish quality was really the third quality. Atmosphere with this restaurant is really bad and the smell bad too. If you want something that is agreed with the value, I would not recommend this restaurant. You might get sick.
Checked Google said the place was open until 9:30. I get here at 8:15 after driving all the way from Simi Valley and the waitress says the place is closed even though it's full of people. Needless to say I'm pretty steamed about wasting my time driving all this way for nothing!
I've got to say that as incredible the food is and as amazing the staff are, I'm giving a one star because packaging takeout in styrofoam and plastic bag just is very upsetting. I'm willing to revise my rating but this terrible practice really needs to change.
