I’ve been a few times now and the food and service has always been great. Enrique has been my server a few times and is always wonderful!

We recently had dinner at Catrina’s Mexican Grill & Bar and had a great experience overall. The food was delicious, flavorful, and freshly prepared. My son especially enjoyed the meal, and we really appreciated that they offer a kids’ menu with smaller portions — perfect for children who cannot finish adult-sized meals. The atmosphere was warm and enjoyable, and the service was excellent. The staff was very attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout the evening. One small suggestion would be to improve the lighting inside the restaurant, as the dining room felt a little too dark for our preference. Other than that, everything was wonderful. Overall, we had a great family dinner experience and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for tasty Mexican food and good service in the Schenectady area!

Delicious food, friendly service and great house margaritas. Food is noticeably better than other Mexican restaurants in the area, with great flavors and perfect seasoning. I really appreciate that the house margaritas are made with fresh lime juice and not the cheap mix that so many places use. The dark decor and Day of the Dead theme are not to my liking, but the food is amazing so we will definitely be back.

This was our first visit to Catrinas since they opened earlier this week. What a great surprise. The place is very nicely decorated, comfortable booths, and quiet atmosphere. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Food service was terrific, the meals were great, and pricing is more than fair. The portions were perfect as well. My Chile Colorado had the perfect amount of spice and will be definitely getting that again. And the salsa, the salsa was amazing and I love my salsa. Definitely give these folks a try and help them stay in this location for a long time to come.

Welcome Catrina’s! A great menu with something for everyone. Love that they bring coleslaw and salsa with the chips to your table. Their homemade hot sauce is so flavorful. We had the Dan Pedro burrito which was filled with pork, black beans, guacamole and vegetable vegetables. Covered in a mild and tasty cheese sauce. We also had the enchilada combination platter with Mexican rice and refried beans. Served piping hot and so Delicious. We had wonderful, friendly and attentive service. The interior was fresh and welcoming. We would go back again anytime.

So kind and some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Took the time to double-check that the order was correct (in front of me for assurance). Not a drop of food left!

The food was excellent. Very tasty and flavorful. My burrito was large and filled with moist and perfectly cooked pork, black beans, rice and Guacamole.

Catrina’s is my new favorite Mexican restaurant! I was there for a late lunch. The food was fabulous! Chips & salsa perfect. I had a huge bowl of black bean soup that was well-seasoned with different colored peppers, onions. and cheese. It’s the best black bean soup I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. I also ordered a steak quesadilla. It was way more than I could eat. The server was very friendly & attentive and provided me with everything I needed to pack up the leftovers. This place is really great and I highly recommend it! I will be going back!

Taco fish tastes great with nice presentation. I like their hot sauce. Corn chips are so so. Food delivers quickly. Table for the circular booth seems small. 2/22/2026 update: fish taco remains delicious. Carne asada is OK. Homemade hot sauce tastes great.

I love that the salsa was given in a carafe with mini bowls so we didn't have to dip into the same bowl. The margaritas were delicious as well.

We also noticed quite a few menu items you don't typically see at most other Mexican places, so now I have many reasons to visit again. The spinach dip was different, but very good. The chips come with salsa and slaw (I loved it.) The quesadilla is enormous. They have a steak fries appetizer I can't wait to try next. So, I look forward to my next visit, and I hope they stick around for a long time. Don't hesitate - check them out.

We will be returning!!! The warning is they are still waiting on a liquor license approval and there’s a sign on the door saying such. We almost turned around too but I’m so glad we didn’t. The tacos were amazing, I cannot wait to go back and try more. I did get a picture of our dessert (after a few bites) the caramel churros. They were so good. Fair price for everything and we both left absolutely stuffed. I’m so glad we stopped by.

Not to mention the staff is so friendly. In 1 month I’ve been there 3 times because the food is so GOOD! Definitely try the Catrina burrito, birria tacos, and the carnitas fajita. GO! You won’t regret it.

Beans and rice were very good— the beans had a unique, smoky flavor. The tacos and other items were all fresh and arrived at the table piping hot. They did not yet have their liquor license when I was recently there, but they had a nice selection of refreshing fruit drinks which I enjoyed instead.

This was my first time having Mexican cuisine. My daughter insisted and I couldn't be any happier. The service was excellent the server was very nice. I got the dish that comes in the lava bowl and it was absolutely delicious. The chips n salsa the beans and rice all were very good food was hot came out quick. Food was very good but very expensive. $120 for lunch for two (including tip) -- nachos, a margarita each and a jumbo chimichanga each.

Food was fantastic. I had the Verde Chile. Service was very friendly but green. I am going back again.

Decided to go for dinner. Ordered margaritas. Tacos and steak fajitas. Beware the spicy cucumber margarita is all booze. My wife didn’t like the drink and our waiter happily exchanged it for a house Margarita. Service was great atmosphere was good. Good food. We will try it again!

To start there was a strand of hair in food The flan was frozen and the 2 chimichangas were 3 inches. So no I didn't enjoy the food .

Food was great, scenery was great. Only thing I’d critique was the feeling of being rushed out. Within reason of visiting with my family, after 20 minutes, 4 meals & drinks my check was brought to my table.

It really was just not as good as I was hoping. 😢

The new place was stunning and everyone I encountered were super nice. Unfortunately, We ordered take out, for the first time and were very disappointed. Our tacos didn’t come with the “house hot sauce” as stated on the website and absolutely no salsa which resulted in our tacos being EXTREMELY dry. They also skimped a lot on the meat as the steak to tortilla ratio was way off compared to other similar local restaurants. We also didn’t get any chips or salsa (also included with all meals from all other local Mexican restaurants). The churros were however, great! Just wish we got more than a mini ramekin of ice cream. Needless to say, we will stick to our favorite local mexican restaurant and won’t be going back here.

The food was mid at best, and unfortunately, the service didn’t make up for it. Our server took a long time to acknowledge us and showed minimal engagement throughout our visit. Meanwhile, he made frequent rounds to every other table in his section. I even timed a 10 minute stretch where he visited other tables at least 3 times and skipped ours entirely. We were the only table in his section with a black guest, and the difference in treatment was hard to miss, which felt especially ironic, given that the server’s name was Enrique. His demeanor only seemed to improve after it became clear that I was upset and that I speak Spanish, which raises even more questions. Overall, the experience felt unwelcoming, inconsistent, and selective. Definitely not one I’d go out of my way to repeat.

I asked for a chicken soup and it was cold. I asked for a burrito and the plate was extremely hot but the food cold. Plus food did not do good to me.Bad experience.
