There are places you eat, and then there are places that feel like home—La Hacienda on MacArthur in Oakland is the latter. No pretension, no gimmicks, just damn good food served with warmth and a sense of place. The carnitas burrito? A masterpiece—crispy-edged pork, rich and juicy, wrapped in a tortilla that actually holds its own. The fajitas sizzle and smoke like they mean business, every bite a reminder that sometimes, simple done right is all you need. And then there’s the bean dip, an unassuming little gift at the start of the meal, creamy and savory enough to make you wonder why more places don’t do this. But the real magic? The people. The owner steps out, chats like an old friend, and suddenly, you’re not just eating—you’re part of something. A family-run spot that understands hospitality in a way that corporate joints never will. This isn’t just a recommendation; it’s a command. Go. Eat. Feel at home.
Don't let the outside discourage you from missing out on some flavorful Mexican food. The food is great and the service is even better. The Chimi with steak 😋. Don't forget to get some guacamole!
Old school Mexican restuarant in the Dimond. Complimentary bean dip and friendly service are a bonus. I wish it was busier, whenever I go it seems only to be takeout orders. They serve many traditional dishes but the homey enchiladas Michoacanas are the real deal. 5 enchiladas cooked with chile rojo topped with carrots and potatos similar to what you would find Patzcuaro, Michoacan. Big portions enough take some home.
I was looking for a restaurant that served one of my favorite plates called morisqueta and they had it, me and my wife ordered it and it was delicious it reminded me of my childhood we appreciate the very sweet and kind woman that made the dish she made it with love and you could taste it god bless those who he has given the ability to cook it's truly a gift and it heals and blesses others love this place thank you very much 👍
While on our way to the Golden Gate Bridge we decided to stop by after looking at the area I was a little weary however breakfast was amazing for all of us!! Although it does look like a place most people just use as a takeout option but they have plenty of seating and are kid-friendly
I ordered a plate of eggs with chorizo rice and beans on the side. It was definitely a good taste in the good serving portion. It came with 3 tortillas you choosing corn or flower, I ordered flower the I my thing is they heat tortillas on the microwave, don't taste bad, but for me tortillas taste good heat in the grill, service was good, the lady kind, and she smiled all the times, she asked if anything is need it, definitely I'll come back.
ONE OF THE BEST TACO TRUCKS IN THE BAY!!!!!Without a doubt these guys got it right, and on top of it all were really friendly . Try it out for your selves promise u won't regret it.
Hands down the best prices, the food is extremely flavorful and prepared to perfection. 10 out of 10.

Just returned there after an absence of many years, since before Covid. Still a great place! An old school family owned Mexican restaurant in the Fruitvale. Doesn’t get better than this! I had Camarones Mojo al Ajo. My companion had her old favorite Chiles Rellenos and salad. Both dishes excellent. The decor is old timey Mexican. Great friendly waitress. Definitely going back much more often, the place is a gem in the neighborhood.
We stop by for a margarita in and food to go every week. I love their red cheese enchiladas. My husband gets super burrito with Carne asada. Margaritas are delicious! Every person we've encountered there had been very kind.
Just stopped in for a lunch time burrito and chips while working from home nearby. Very delicious and the staff were so friendly. I want to go back for dinner with my kids because it seems like a fun and chill place accepting of children
Got a shredded chicken torta. Reasonable price for what you get with your order. Their always super friendly and nice. Very flavorful and satisfying.
I love this place, it reminds me of home, I'm from Socal and just wanted some comfort food and here I have found it. Great service, wonderful staff, I've found my Norcal favorite chilaquiles. Everything here is great, also they give you refried beans with the tortilla chips.
I paid a visit randomly out of curiosity since it's tucked away. I ordered the fried fish and green enchiladas and at first sight, it looked very normal. I was blown away by the flavors. The beans look plain but we're packed with flavor. The green chicken enchiladas was smooth and appetizing. The fried fish was very crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside with the right amount of saltines. Definitely fresh fish. Overall not what I expected. I would recommend.
So good. I haven’t been in the area in 10+ years but stopped for lunch. So glad we did I absolutely loved the carnitas plate. I asked for extra spicy and the sweet hostess/server checked in on me a couple times after it came and as a person who literally puts chilis in my coffee it was the perfect amount of spice. Loved how it wasn’t shredded but sliced and had a secondary pan fry crisp. Really great it’s been a couple days and I’m still thinking about it.

As appetizer we got chips and a sauce of beans which was very tasty. I ordered an Enchilada & Burrito. The Burrito was very good, the Enchilada so so. My friend ordered Enchilada, tamales & tacos of shrimp. The tamales weren't good and the tacos just OK. The attention was very good. I would give 3.5 stars, but since there isn't, and attention was good, I put 4.

Ordered online and I ordered like 4 things only one of which was good, (the fish taco) but it was actually really good hence two out of 5 stars. The salsa they sold as a side was smaller than advertised and tasted like pace, the chips tasted kind of like raw flour so idk how that happens. I ordered menudo also and I let several people try it and it tasted like some kind of canned sauce or something for the soup and the tripe wasn’t quite right, maybe they don’t sell it enough to make it very well but it was really disappointing
I got a chimichanga. I wasn't sure if it was even fried. Seems like they just gave me a regular burrito with guac a cream spread on top. You should try frying your chimichangas until they're actually crispy.

Surprised by the high ratings with the disappointing food experience today. The tortilla chips were stale. The chili relleno was fried in old oil and had a bad aftertaste. The chicken in the enchilada was not fresh. And everything is on the pricey side too. Definitely not worth it.
This was the worst service I have ever had at any restaurant in my entire life, plus their food was rotten. I believe the owner’s daughter who is a teenager is pretending to be a waitress and 25 minutes later with nobody in the restaurant we still did not get our sangrias. Run away from this place at all costs! I think I just saved myself from getting food poisoning!!
I tried this place couple months ago and was not happy with the food.. ..Today I decided to try it again and well..... Nothing has changed, food was really bad. I ordered 2/sopes but was forced to order 3 because they can't only make 2 (makes no sense ) Well they never told me that it comes with beans and rice. Sopes were really bad, bad taste, salsa was not good and did not have flavor. The only thing that was really good was the beans and rise. I feel I paid way to much for those sopes that I ended up throwing away. I would not recommend this place to no one. More
