Aram is great at always kind and helpful. Quality of food needs improvement at this location, the sweet potatoes always burnt ,Rice under undercooked and freshness of the greens needs improvement and better wash/selection. Sweetgreens has great vegan options and proteins.

Sweetgreen in Downtown Oakland has quickly become my top spot, not just for the food but for the exceptional customer experience. Abram, Winni, Jess, and Yessi make each visit feel special—they’re incredibly friendly, attentive, and consistently go above and beyond, even when the place is packed during the lunch rush. Their attention to detail and genuine warmth bring a sense of ease to every meal, whether you’re dining in or grabbing something to go. The team’s dedication, paired with the clean, modern atmosphere, really sets this location apart. It’s a true oasis in the heart of Oakland!

Staff was very friendly and welcoming, despite being very busy. Got the Buffalo Chicken salad, which was very good. A bit of a wait to order and others waiting for pickup, but didn't mind because the staff was so nice. I wanted to leave a healthy tip, but the card payment system doesn't allow....bummer. Will definitely try again.

Came here on Friday night, great customer service despite their short of staff, like everywhere else. Clerks attended to me right away as they were busy with online orders. Had the green goddess salad, great taste, unique dressing. The rosemary focaccia was ok. Nice to have a healthy, locally sourced ingredients restaurant in the neighborhood. Definitely will come back to try other salads.

The downtown Oakland Sweetgreen has the best staff of any restaurant I’ve ever visited! I serve as caregiver for an individual with autism who has sensitivities to music, light, and certain words. He can seem grumpy and curt when ordering his salad, but the Sweetgreen crew always takes care of him, even going so far as to turn off the music whenever we arrive. Few restaurants will go to this length, so five big appreciative stars for this Sweetgreen. Thank you lovely people:)

Where do I begin? I’ve become so accustomed to bad service post-COVID, that when I come here it feels like stepping into an alternate universe of before-times. I came here a few times to pick up online orders that weren’t even really late, and they gave me a free beverage to compensate me for the few moments I had to wait. LOL, they freaking greet me when I enter the store. That is an old-timey EXCEPTION these days. I’m just always treated like a human being whose business is appreciated here. I know that sounds really wild, but that used to be normal back in the day. It’s like a Time Machine in here. No matter who is working, I feel like I’m getting really great service. Makes me think/hope SG is taking good care of their employees because they are taking great care of SG! S/o to Emmett for the awesome last minute service tonight right before close.

I'd like to give a shoutout to Maya, who was working the last shift today, for her excellent customer service. It was almost closing time, and she was incredibly patient and courteous with customers who were taking too long to decide and asking too many questions, and she made it up to the customers who had to wait longer than necessary.

My favorite dish is the shroomami bowl. The service here is very slow. I would place an order for pickup but they don’t mix the salad for you if you do that, so I end up waiting in line. I only come here for lunch if I can get in before noon, otherwise I would be standing in line for my whole lunch hour.

My friend recommend it on stopping by. it was a nice calming atmosphere. The staff was very inviting and nice. My salad 🥗 was delicious. I'd definitely come back.

I just left this location getting a create your own salad. The whole experience gave me anxiety- from the employees working over my food, almost dropping condiments into my salad while working on other customers orders, calling me “love” instead of asking for a name with the order. Lastly, I didn’t appreciate the plastic containers of ranch INSIDE of my salad bowl. I wasn’t asked if I wanted it inside or out. Again, very unorganized and unprofessional.

The bowl tasted good and the service was nice. I had an issue with lemonade I brought. The bottle seal was broke before I opened and I cannot drink it and waste of $3.50 bucks.

Food: could be 4-stars if I could find one salad dressing that is NOT a garlic explosion 🧄💥 also it’s pricey for the quality of ingredients Service: the staff is super friendly and helpful, but operationally this place hasn’t figured out how to handle the lunchtime flood of traffic. On average you can expect your order to be ready 20 minutes later than the “order ahead” confirmation estimate between 1130a-130p

Food is very good and fresh. Service was weird. Every one is running around cooking things ans no one has time to actually make the salads. One worker was walking around eating a waffle in the kitchen. Didn't seem sanitary.

If you're just "chilling" this could be your spot, if you're in to the fast casual hype SG is selling, that fast part seems to gleefully be tread on by the employees.

Veggies are well seasoned. The 3-Star is ONLY because the salmon was overcooked, cold and dry, dry, dry, drrrrry! I was so hungry, I didn't care. Added the sauce which made it better. The Salmon was dry though. I loved the customer service! Very nice people in there.

Sweetgreen Oakland: Where Efficiency Comes to Die (But the Staff Deserve Medals) Not sure if I walked into Sweetgreen or the DMV with kale. You’d think being in a prime, high-traffic area, they’d have more than two or three people running the entire operation — but no. It’s a one-person show at every station. One poor soul juggling prepping your bowl, running to the back for missing items, taking payment, and probably mopping the floor between orders. Bravo to them for doing it all — and still managing to smile. Meanwhile, I couldn’t help but think: Panda Express figured this out years ago — people across the line, assembly style, and you’re out in five minutes. Sweetgreen? Feels like a performance art piece about inefficiency. At this point, just introduce a ticketing system like the DMV. That way we can all grab a number, take a long walk, and come back in an hour when it’s our turn to place an order for a $20 salad. TLDR: Shoutout to the overworked staff — they’re the real MVPs. The owners? Might wanna step out of whatever zen bubble they’re in and fix this chaos. Or at least bring snacks for the wait or trivia games..

My partner walks in to order 2 salads. The worker was rude, unhelpful and had a very messy work station. She stopped me when I said only a little dressing, and drenched my salad. It was overall an awkward experience. Usually have good experiences here but it's always inconsistent. It always depends on who's working and if they feel like working or not.

The service is a total joke here. The employees go out of their way to be slow. I waited 25 minutes extra beyond the expected time for my mobile order bowl and it wasn’t even busy. It literally took them 10 mins to make my wife’s bowl as they kept leaving the counter to go and chat. Terrible experience and the bowl was not well made.

I tried to order a salad from this location via DoorDash. My dasher waited close to 45mins to pick up ONE salad. I ended up CANCELING my order cause that was a ridiculous wait time. I recommend trying a different spot for ordering your lunch.

Ordered at 2.41 for pickup at 3pm. Got there at 3.10 and food was not ready and guys said one minute till the chicken is ready. Few minutes later the other guy said it would be like 6 mins till it’s ready and that at 3.15pm. Went back at 3.25, no acknowledgment from associates and told that still waiting on chicken. 3.35 pm chicken is ready but mushrooms will be another 5 mins. The order took one hour. When the order is placed you should know what you need to prepare instead of having guests wait for each ingredient. Horrible service, rude associates who lack empathy and priority as walk ins get better service then app pick up order. They can’t commit to their order time and audacity of saying 5 minutes more for mushrooms when I just waited 40 mins for chicken.

I ordered a miso salmon bowl today and not only did the store take forever causing my order to be late but they didn't even give me salmon! It lists it in the name of the bowl! The least they could've done is mark the salmon off the receipt but they didn't.

Great food but took two hours on a weekday for two salads. That’s insane. If the store is overwhelmed, then you need to stop taking orders until you catch up. I had placed the order through DoorDash and that person had to wait inside your store for more than an hour to get the order. DoorDash and Sweetgreen are refusing to issue me refunds.

Horrible online order pick up experience. Ordered my food and waited 30 minutes before coming to pick up. Get there and they tell me it’s a 5 minutes wait. 10 minutes into my wait (40 minutes after placing my order) I am still waiting for my order to be made while in person clients are being prioritized. Pretty rubbish service experience

I would never recommend this place and it should close if they can not figure out how to serve in person customers and the online customers in a timely fashion. It feels like the east bay sweet greens have bad management as the one in Berkeley is just as bad. Go to other salad places if you want timely service and accurate ordering.
