A proper local’s spot hidden in Oaxaca - super simple, super delicious and unbelievable value for money - it is cash only and as a terrible tourist, I only had like 3 dollars on me, but the below meal only cost me $2! I obviously gave them everything I had and it still felt not enough, so here is this review about this wonderful family restaurant which hopefully encourages more future customers 💜

Among the best Al Pastor and Bisteck tacos I had. I was with 2 vegetarians and their meals were even better, the Alambre and Papas vegetarian dishes were incredible. Beautifully roasted vegetables along with cheese, potatoes and fresh flour tortilla. Worth the trip!

A small, hole-in-the-wall taco shop that’s open until midnight. Everything here is so fresh! The cucumber, lime, and pork were really good quality. A full of al pastor tacos (5) with agua fresca was only ~$3.50 USD. The owners were very hospitable and welcoming. This is a down-to-earth, home kitchen where they cook with a lot of love and you can taste it. I loved my tacos, the salsa, and the accompaniments. Definitely a taco shop to try while in Oaxaca.

Por mucho las MEJORES tlayudas. Absolutamente deliciosas, de buen tamaño, recién hechas y muy ricas. Pedimos una orden de cebollitas para complementar y también muy ricas. Es un lugar chiquito, sencillo, muy cómodo. Te tienen que gustar los niños porque los pequeños de la casa están a tu alrededor jugando, entonces si ni te gustan, mejor pide para llevar. Los Tacos de Esme en Oaxaca Centro están buenísimos. La comida está muy rica y todo tiene excelente sabor. Nosotros pedimos papa asada / papas al horno, tacos y alambre, y todo estuvo delicioso y bien servido. También vi que tienen gringas, tortas, tlayudas, volcán, cazuelitas, pozole y birria, así que hay mucha variedad. Además, la atención fue muy buena. Si buscas tacos en Oaxaca Centro, tlayudas, birria o pozole en Oaxaca, este lugar es súper recomendable.

Mejores tacos al pastor que he comido incluyendo de Monterrey y ciudad de México. El pastor estaba crujiente pero no quemado, nada de gordo en la carne, las tortillas delgaditas pero no se rompieron, las tres salsas que nos dieron muy buenas y las cebollas moradas que nos dieron excelentes.

I'm updating to say I think about this place and these tacos ALL THE TIME. If you're in town, and have a chance, go eat a taco for me please. This takes the crown as my all time favourite 👑 - Los tacos de Esme is the best taco place I've ever had the good fortune to frequent. The food here is SUPERB. Every single detail of these tacos and salsas are the definition of perfection. The roasted potatoes are mouth wateringingly delicious. And fried plantains for desert, yes please! We tried a variety of things from this menu and I still dream about it now! This restaurant is a great reason to go back to Oaxaca! When I say these are the best tacos I've ever had, I MEAN IT. Perfection. The ambiance is so incredibly lovely. Mom cooking, dad taking orders and slinging food with the sweetest little baby strapped to his back, while their charming daughter taught me Spanish and kicked our butts at tic tac toe 🥰 this place isn't only good for delightfully crushing hunger, it's also good for the soul. This is a tiny, family-run place with just a few tables, and from the moment you arrive you feel the warmth and care behind everything they do. Wow! Recommended this place from a friend who had previously visited Oaxaca and they did a great job. Ordered 5 mixed tacos and a pastor Gringa. Each taco was delicious and stuffed with meat. The Gringa was so tasty, the tortilla was toasted perfectly. The accompanying salsas and vegetables added a wonderful touch to a spectacular meal. The service amazing, the family incredibly kind and caring.

The BEST tacos I’ve had whilst in Oaxaca! Came here two nights in a row and would have come back more if I had found it sooner. Super authentic taste and $85 peso for 5 tacos. We got the mixtos plate and I couldn’t choose a favourite they were all amazing. Make sure you also try the pastor cazuelita it was a stand out !!!

Stopped in here for a late afternoon snack and that's probably why the pastor tacos were a little dry. We were the only ones there and they were probably getting ready to close. The steak tacos were delicious. It's a cute, small, family run place and as a bonus you can watch cartoons in back with their kid!

Los tacos son ricos

La comida es rica, se tardan un poco en hacerla pero tiene buen sabor 🫶🏻 lo único que no me agrado fue el baño, demasiado pequeño & no funciona del todo.

Su ubicación en avenida Oriente, donde hay pocos establecimientos de comida lo hacen un buen lugar para degustar uno tacos bien servidos (de excelentes porciones y con buen sazón). Su horario de servicio es de casi doce horas al día; llueva, truene o relampagueé siempre se encuentra abierto. Las salsas son buenas. El lugar es atendido por un matrimonio y algunas veces, unos niños apoyan a tomar órdenes y pasar alimentos. El establecimiento se ha vuelto un referente con los extranjeros que llegan de visita a la ciudad de Oaxaca, y se hospedan a los alrededores de este. Dada su alta demanda, algunas veces al establecimiento se puede encontrar sin mesas disponibles.

Buen lugar para cenar, no solo ha tacos, está variado, muy buena atención, venimos de Xochimilco, gracias x la hospitalidad

Los tacos bien pero nada extraordinario. Las tlayudas fieles al sabor tradicional. El chocolate de agua delicioso. El niño que atiende amable y educado pero lento muy lento, creo que se dispersa bastante, tardó 30 minutos solo para dar la cuenta. Si tienes hambre, ve preparado porque en definitiva se van a tardar.

La comida me parece aceptable, es algo variada, sin embargo, tanto alambres, tacos y mi tlayuda estaban muy salados. Entonces eso merma en cuanto el disfrute de los sabores. Eso sí, las porciones son buenas y quienes atienden son muy amables. Creo que pueden mejorar. Hay que apoyar al comercio local, nos la pasamos muy cool.

No recomiendo, somos del Estado de México y sabemos lo que son unos "buenos tacos", para iniciar el área donde elaboran los alimentos luce sucia y desordenada, las mesas muy juntas y el caloron, nos dejamos llevar por la buena calificación, sin embargo, los tacos al pastor, la salsa y los demás platillos, pésimos, la carne seca, la salsa parecía agua, y bueno que lástima por los comensales extrajeros, al no haber más opción se conforman con esto, al final el paisaje es una taza de baño, una muy mala experiencia.
