What an absolute beautiful experience. I'm a native NY'er and we often don't take advantage of all the beautiful sights in our own backyard. I'm so glad I did. It's such a beautiful building. It excuses elegance. The staff is extremely helpful. Especially since I had .y sister that is in a wheelchair. They made a very anxious filled night so calm. Thank you so much for making her feel so welcomed. We saw Porgy & Bess and it was a beautiful show. The cast was phenomenal!! Thanks and I'll see you soon

The Metropolitan Opera’s Carmen is a powerful and captivating production. The cast delivers outstanding performances, with a commanding and magnetic portrayal of Carmen and strong emotional depth from Don José. Bizet’s music is beautifully performed by the orchestra and chorus, bringing energy and intensity to every scene. The Met Opera House’s stunning architecture and superb acoustics elevate the entire experience. Overall, Carmen at the Met is an unforgettable performance and a must-see for both opera lovers and first-time audiences.

The area hosts not only Opera House but Balley. Massive but elegant buildings, surrounded by small studios which can fit 30-40 visitors. The performance, the music the voices were absolutely stunning but the costumes... it is a pity that Carmen wears jean's shorts and jeans. Guns , revolvers and track do not belong to this opera. Even they tried to impose opera against human trafficking.. All people are dressed up or smart. Polite, offering to take photos as at resort. The atmosphere is very friendly. And the bag Search and lot of police cars remind us about possible terrorist attacks. Koodos to America trying to expel those who does not belong!

I went here twice: When I chaperoned a class trip to a dress rehearsal for the Marriage of Figaro, I was impressed by the general ambiance, the red velvet seats, the crystal chandeliers that move up at the start of a performance and the view of the stage. The second time I went, we had the cheaper Family Circle seats to see La Boheme. The view was slightly obscured and we had to stretch our necks to see the stage beyond the person in front of us but we had a great view of the orchestra pit the whole theater and most of the stage. Next time, I would opt for better seats and maybe order drinks ahead of intermission with the app since the lines were long. I had fun both times though.

Beautiful venue with comfortable seats. It's very easy to see the stage from the dress circle level but the sound would be a lot louder and clearer at a lower level.

Wonderful time at The Met Opera, place feels amazing! Porgy and Bess is a must see, seats are wide, and carpet is plush.

One of a kind experience that I recommend everyone should try, I love it, the souvenir store was very nice with nice selection of items for kids and adults, I got good prices and a good view for the show. I will come back for another play.

I was lucky to have been to this wonderful theater some time ago. My performance was the iconic Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky. I saw different Swan Lake performances in other theaters, including The Bolshoi; however, I cannot call myself a connoisseur. I just like the ballet -) It was hard to get tickets a couple of weeks in advance (which was our case) and we used a website that resells tickets. Fortunately, our tickets were valid -) You can treat yourself to a glass of champagne before the performance and during the interval. As for the hall itself, I was in the stalls and the view was quite good - please check out the photo. The performance was really great, true and passionate, and what I liked in Met Opera especially was the audience. It is the first theater with the audience that is so emotional about the finale - there were several bursts of applause during the last 10-15 minutes and, of course, a standing ovation afterwards. Fantastic night and such a powerful energy load! I wish I could visit the Metropolitan Opera again. When (and if at all)? Who knows...

Attending an OPERA was not ever something I thought I would be doing this year, but I couldn't resist going to see Michael Adams performing in Carmen before he had his last performance! I went on a Saturday midday (1 pm) and it was a packed house. The music captivates you from the moment it begins and the talented cast and crew do not miss a beat. I was BLOWN AWAY. What an experience to see such incredible talent, ESPECIALLY Le Dancaire. ;) #themetopera #opera #nyc #carmen

We came to see Don Giovanni, and it was lovely. The opera house itself is stunning, and the restaurant inside is first rate. At The Kennedy Center, the captions are projected above the stage, while here, each seat has its own small display where you can choose the language in which you see the captions, which I thought was very nice.

Attending the Metropolitan Opera was breathtaking. The singers’ voices, the orchestra, and the stunning sets combined to create an immersive and emotional experience. Even if you’re new to opera, the grandeur and artistry will leave you inspired. A truly unforgettable evening in New York!

Lincoln Center is the epitome of culture so I try to go as often as I can be it for opera, ballets and movies. A beautiful space in iconic NYC!

Since its invention in the late 16th century in Italy, precisely in Florence, opera (the Italian word for "work") has been an art form that tells a story through music and singing. Unlike a musical, opera singers do not use microphones to amplify their voices. The music is played by the orchestra and is completely live. Creating opera needs more than just a script and music. It needs a great set designer, costumes, and a director who puts it all together. Over the centuries, it changed a lot, transformed, and evolved, but it will always remain tied in some way to its Italian origins. Situated within NYC’s Lincoln Center performing arts plaza, the Metropolitan Opera is the largest classical music facility in North America and is also one of the leading opera houses in the world. Upon entering, the grandeur and elegance of the venue sweep one’s off your feet. My partner and I were fortunate to obtain tickets in the orchestra for Puccini’s Turandot this Saturday afternoon. It’s a good opera for beginners due to its iconic music, spectacular scale, and relatively accessible storyline, especially the famous aria "Nessun dorma." The interior was interwoven with art, paintings, murals, and statues, but the lavish red carpet and spectacular chandeliers were something. The seating was comfortable, the acoustics could not be better, carrying every note with breathtaking clarity, and we loved the subtitles on the small screen in front of each seat. Throughout the theater, the staff was incredibly kind & accommodating during our visit!! We don't often go to the opera, but this was a wonderful exception! Bravi!

The venue is the best opera house in the US and maybe the world. We saw the 2025 production of Puccini’s Turandot. Bravo! Over 150 actors on stage with 3 stunning sets. Run then run faster until you are in a complete sprint! Then pick up speed until you lift off the ground and glide into your 5th row orchestra level seat directly square in the middle of the row. Relax. Enjoy beauty in all 360 degrees of spherical coordinates. Breathe and enjoy this lovely idea of life. Opera is the poetry of life!

Gorgeous building both inside and outside. Great acoustics and good view even from the very last row! We enjoyed watching the ballet!

Absolutely stunning performance! The Met Opera brought Aida to life with breathtaking visuals, powerful vocals, and world-class staging. The set design was majestic, especially the triumphal march scene—it felt like stepping into ancient Egypt. The cast delivered emotionally moving performances, and the orchestra was flawless. A truly unforgettable night at one of the most iconic venues in the world. Highly recommend catching this if you get the chance!

Everything about the Metropolitan Opera House is absolutely exquisite. From the moment you arrive, the grandeur takes your breath away the stunning venue, rich décor, and iconic grand staircase alone are worth the visit. If you’re under 40, the Under 40s party is beyond expectations. Incredible energy, amazing people, fantastic food and drinks, and endless photo ops. You also get a discount on tickets so if you’re 40 or younger look into this. Get dressed up! Truly one of the most fun and stylish ways to experience the opera. This is the place for it. Arrive early to take photos, and if you can, make a night of it with dinner beforehand. There is honestly not a bad seat in the house. Sightlines are excellent, the seat was comfy and I especially loved the subtitle translations, which make the performance even more immersive and accessible. Entering and exiting the venue was smooth, easy, and felt very safe well organized and welcoming. The only downside: they allow people to enter very late nearly 30 minutes after the performance starts and it was incredibly disruptive. Unfortunately, some late arrivals were also quite rude, taking a long time to settle and frequently blocking the view of others. That said, the overall experience is unforgettable. Elegant, exciting, and truly world-class. A must-do NYC experience. 🎭✨ @thesequinunicorn reviews

I went to see my first opera. I really appreciated the screens on the back of the seat in front of you. Those subtitles came in handy. It was a great show and experience at The Met!

The music and vocals at the Metropolitan Opera’s Carmen were outstanding — powerful, nuanced, and fully worthy of Georges Bizet’s masterpiece. Unfortunately, the new staging undermined everything the music achieved. The modern reinterpretation — ripped jeans and shorts, constant smoking, guns and machine-gun imagery, cell phones, motorcycle, and even a massive truck awkwardly standing in for symbolism — felt forced and gratuitous. Rather than illuminating the drama, it reduced it to caricature. The final scene, with Carmen killed by a baseball bat, was grotesque, tasteless, and visually disturbing in a way that added nothing to the story. This production seems determined to shock for the sake of “innovation,” but the result is crude and unpleasant. It’s a real shame to see something so classical and beautiful distorted into something so cheap and joyless.

We attended Carmen, the day the three men protested during the show. The singers were very professional and kept the show going, but it put everyone on edge for the remainder of the opera. The opera performance was lovely besides the modern interpretation. There were very few stage pieces and the semi-truck and Ford truck weren’t what was expected. It was our first opera, so now we know to look for an opera with more traditional costumes/props. The singers and crew handled the protest extremely well. Shoutout to the male opera singer who tackled the one protester. Multi-tasking and thinking quick on his feet. The songs were amazing and I can’t wait to come back for another performance.
