We have been coming to this Bodhi Leaf on Katella for the last 5 years based on a recommendation from a local friend, who loves coffee. Every time we are in Orange to visit family, we find ourselves at this Bodhi Leaf. We’ve drank no other coffee at home since. And I live in Seattle. My husband and I have been ordering their 5-lb bags by mail every few weeks for years. (Yes we drink a lot of coffee.) Our houseguests rave about this. We sent a pound home with my mother-in-law to Cape Cod last time she was here. I think she’s been having them ship out to her now. The cafe is light and airy. People—not just the staff—are friendly. It has an ambience of chill. I once dropped in while they were roasting beans up front. The aroma was heady and suddenly *had* to start working at the counter bar in front of the roaster for the next hour. I usually go back to their enormous warehouse and buy a few pounds of coffee beans to go, filling up a quarter on my carryon suitcase. The warehouse and office guys are so nice and helpful. They’ve had limited runs of coffees from the African highlands that were not on their webstore the last couple of times I was there. And boy! Did I ever snap those up, slinking out of the store with them tucked up in my coat, saying “my precious!” under my breath. My friend from Ethiopia, who lives up here in Seattle, asked about green coffee beans because she roasted them at home literally like in the old country. Well. I have a surprise for her.
Stopped in here to catch up on some work before a meeting. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I ordered an avocado toast and a drip coffee, both were very delicious. Will definitely be stopping through next time I'm in the area. Been back a few times and the quality and service are awesome
Best coffee I’ve had in a good while! I got a dirty chai hot with oat milk. It’s so hard to find a good well balanced dirty chai. It was the perfect amount of savory/sweet and oat milk ratio. Also tried one of their strawberry “poptart” style pastries and it was very tasty! I love that I have a new coffee spot in Orange that is not located in or near the circle. Saves me the headache of traffic and finding parking.
They’re located at the corner of shopping center with plenty of parking. It’s pretty spacious inside and their seasonal drinks are so good. Toffee nut latte has the right mix of bitter espresso and sweet toffee taste. Their vanilla nut latte is little bit on the sweeter side from the coconut foam on top. Their sandwiches are huge and fulfilling. Overall their price is very reasonable for the taste and atmosphere! Recommended 👍
Most of my Bodhi experience is with buying green coffee. There aren’t many local places for home coffee roasters to get beans. Bodhi’s selection is pretty good, their website is helpful when selecting coffee, and they are happy to talk through the challenges of roasting coffee. The warehouse guys are awesome. In addition, they have cupping classes and roasting competitions, occasionally - very fun and helpful! They roast their coffee on sight and their drip coffee is delicious! (Definitely ’coffee snob’ worthy). I can’t speak to their flavored drinks, but my experience with their employees has always been friendly.
Tried this place. I'm not into coffee but the burrito was soooo good. It had pickled jalapeños and it had a nice kick to it. Was pleasantly surprised. The outside was nice and toasty and inside cheese was melted. ( have had burritos before that did not have these last two basic items) Nice place to come and get some work done on your computer while you sip on your drink. Parking is not an issue.
Really cool coffee shop that roasts on location. The coffee was pretty good, nicely priced. Unfortunately they didn’t have too much food to eat, but their muffins were good. The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the vibe. Wish there was more outside seating but there isn’t much space outside. However the inside is very spacious.
Great place. They're ACTUALLY coffee traders and there's a large window that gives you a peak into the warehouse. There's also other areas where machines and more back-of-house is on display; pretty cool! They even do educational lessons about coffee. The place has wifi, merch, coffee memorabilia (Chemex, grinders, mugs, etc), and a selection of pastries and healthy snacks. There's also complimentary water and restrooms (not gender neutral), plus you can order online with Grubhub. I didn't stay for long (unfortunately) but it seems like the whole place should be wheelchair accessible (the front has 7 steps but there is a ramp). Plenty of seating inside and outside, and the area is quiet. Whole atmosphere is super relaxed. I got a hot latte that tasted good w/ nice standard latte art. I got oat milk but they have other non-dairy (almond, oat, coconut, that I know of). I'd absolutely recommend swinging by if you're in the area and sticking around if you've got the time.
I’ve visited a couple other Bohdi Leaf locations. They have multiple locations across OC. Parking: This location has a medium sized parking lot. Finding a spot can be easy because people are constantly going in n out. Ambiance/Environment: They have a large space with plenty of indoor seating and limited outdoor seating. Love the modern woodsy/barn theme. Perfect spot to have business conversations, catch up with friends, or get some work done. They also sell merch and coffee beans. Service: Daniela was the cashier that assisted me. She was simply nice and efficient. Throughput was quick after ordering; it took about 5 min. Drinks & pastries: I ordered a 16 oz iced flavored latte with butterscotch. It wasn’t really sweet. The coffee flavor came through, but the butterscotch was lacking a bit. The caramel notes were really light. During my first visit a few years ago, I remember their mochas were really chocolatey, and the pastries were delicious. Pricing: They offer rewards through Cash App. I don’t really like Cash App rewards because it doesn’t offer much. Prices definitely went up. It cost a bit more than usual, especially for a 16 oz.
Easy access, big parking lot, easy to spot, great location. The place is beautiful, everything was really clean, and all the décor is great. The menu is clear with fair prices. The staff were nice. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable, but it is part of the charm; they match the decorations. It was good that people share the table; a few people that I had never seen before just joined me, which was nice. But... there's no internet. I went there to use the space to work and couldn't. I asked the staff about it, and the answer was, "Oh, yeah, we know. It often doesn't work. Pretty much, we don't have any." In fact, there was a small sign that said something about it. Overall, it is a good place. I liked it.
Got the cocoa matcha espresso drink and my friend got the strawberry matcha espresso— both were season drinks and really good! I loved the cocoa cream / taste they had mixed into the matcha. It was innovative and tasted flavorful. They also allowed less ice which was nice. The ambience of the shop is great, it’s super spacious and really cute inside, reminds me of a cabin in the woods. Great tasting drink and also ample parking!
First, The ambiance was great and calm. Sometimes they are good and sometimes they are not. I see that baristas are changed regularly so I wouldn’t blame the coffeehouse. The black coffee is fantastic and I have never disappointed but only 1 out of 4 lattes was good, the others tasted weird and burned. One time there was only one cashier open and he was talking to a one costumer for more than 10 minutes; I know that coffee shops work like this and pro barista should answer all the customers questions, but at least they should have a second register or cashier open. My cortado became a cappuccino one time.
Discovered this coffee shop by accident, and thankfully it turned out to be really cool. It's located in a shopping center off Katella in the city of Orange. The inside is spacious, with plenty of seats. There is a counter where you can sit, tall and also shorter tables. The coffee is tasty. Most of their coffees are Direct Trade, but they have Fair Trade Items too which makes this coffeehouse cooler. They are also affiliated with the Rainforest Alliance which is a plus, another coffeehouse giving back to protect the earth. There were plenty of people sitting studying and having conversations the day I stumbled upon this place. The baristas were nice, friendly and helpful. There were pastries and other baked items, but hardly anything left. Oh well, that's for another time. The decor is simple, I like the chairs. They're different, unique and comfortable. If I'm ever in the Orange County region again, I will definitely try to return!
As a long time customer of Bodhi, it hurts me to leave this review. I would give 5 stars to the Placentia, Anaheim, and Yorba Linda locations. This review is only for one shift of employees at the Katella location. My experience at that location has consistently been 5 stars for quality and service for almost 4 years until two weeks ago. The girl took my order then made my drink. I could immediately see that it was not what I ordered. (No big deal, as long as it's corrected). She apologized and remade it...incorrect again. When I said the second drink was also not what I ordered, two other baristas came over and said she didn't understand what I wanted. I then asked why she didn't ask me to clarify what I wanted. The exchange that followed was one of the most unacceptable customer service experiences I have ever encountered. Rather than trying to make the situation (and my order) right, I was verbally and emotionally attacked by said 3 baristas, who made it their mission to educate me on all the ways it was my fault. No offer to make it right. No respect. Now, I'm not under the illusion that the customer is always right. But I did not deserve to be treated that way. When I returned a week later hoping to give them a second chance, they obviously recognized me and started right in with comments alluding to the previous exchange that made me decide to share my negative experience. Think I'm a Karen? Fine, I'll be a Karen. I spend way too much money at Bodhi to tolerate these three employees who have tainted my impression of an otherwise excellent company. I recently ordered a drink from coffee bean. When I received my drink and pointed out that it was incorrect, they apologized, made me the correct drink, and offered me the original drink as well. That made it right. That was excellent customer service. Last week I placed a mobile order at Starbucks. When I went to pick it up they told me they were out of what I ordered. They had me choose another drink, offered free upgrades, AND gave me a gift card for the inconvenience. That made it right. THAT was excellent customer service. Everyone makes mistakes. I honestly don't care that I didn't get what I was trying to order and what I thought I had paid and tipped them for. But to be treated that way? That's definitely NOT what I paid for. To all the other employees and baristas who have treated me well over the last 4 years at the Katella location: THANK YOU and I appreciate you.
I have been coming here off and on to bodhi leaf for many years ,I really like the coffee and service but unfortunately today ,I was soo surprised to see a gay flag next to the register. I made a comment to the girl who was serving me you need to have an American flag up too i carnt assume but noticed her reaction to her work colleagues making fun so unprofessional, if you have different veiws thats your prerogative but when working in a public setting one has to be professional as you are interacting with all different walks of life.I feel and felt sad as I will not be coming back.
CHAI LOVERS BEWARE: Came to try this cafe after looking for a good recommendation for a chai latte in Orange. A yelp review recommended. I arrived and noticed a nice airy large establishment w a relaxing atmosphere. The ambiance was the best part of my visit. Parking was atrocious. Took 3 or 4 circles around parking lot ti finally find an extremely compact spot that hardly allowed me enough space to open my car door fully. Walked into establishment to a line of maybe 4 people in line. For some reason I looked up 5 min later and there were 3 people still in line ahead of me. Not to mention about 6 people in line behind me. So now im wondering why no other batista is using the 2nd register to help lessen the line. It seemd like the cashier may have been new and put on register on a busy Saturday morning by herself. Anyway she was pretty and friendly, I was excited to order my iced chai latte and did just that When I got it youd think id ordered a cold milk w ice....NO CHAI FLAVOR TO BE FOUND. UGHHH I was so peeved. I paid for this large pricey chai....and was given a bland iced milk. Definitely not worth my trip. Chai Lovers Beware....This Is Not The Place For Such A Desire.👎🏼 Will be trying other cafes in area to see who can CHAI properly!
