I've been to this sushi bar a few times, they never disappoint. I like that they have plenty of options with no crab meat, and I like their yellowtail rolls. The amount of fish in the rolls is generous, and the size of a portion is big. The second set of the rolls is 50% off before 3 pm (not sure if that works everyday or just weekends)
Best sushi spot in Orange County. Toro, Halibut, black snapper are very fresh, and so is everything else. The chefs give a generous amount of fish and all of the rolls taste very unique. I recommend dining in.
Price was reasonable. Quality of food was excellent! We ordered the kid's chicken bento box, Special Eel roll, Spider roll, Samurai roll and coconut shrimp and 1 other roll (forgot name). Service was quick, courteous and friendly. Different employees stopped to check on how we were doing as well. Bonus! My 6 year old daughter loved everything in her bento box with the exception of the salad. Tough to pull off if you have kids. Great local sushi joint!
Best sushi place! Highly recommend. Very fresh foods.
The food was super fresh and yummy ....The chefs are very cool and down to earth. And their special of day are really special... super fresh and worth trying!... It's becoming one of my favorite places.
First time trying sushi boom. We went on a Friday night around 730,my girlfriend and I were immediately seated at the sushi bar and ordered drinks. We ended up getting the halibut roll, crunchy caterpillar roll and the tuna lover roll with a side of garlic edamamae and some miso soup. Everything came out very qui kly and tasted delicious! We're glad we decided to give this place a try and are looking forward to going back sometime.
You won't believe this... We were at a soccer game in Orange. At the end of the game we were starving and craving sushi. We jumped on the internet and found Sushi Boom, read a couple of reviews, and immediately jumped in the car and drove a mile from the soccer field to Sushi Boom. Sushi Boom did not disappoint! If you are in the area you are 100% missing out if you don't pop in for some amazing sushi! 🍣😉🍣😉🍣😉🍣 PS, go for the spicy tuna hand roll
Wonderful taste with fresh fish! Much bigger size sushi fish compare to other place! Definitetly recommended!!!👍👍👍
Love love love this place ❤ everything was so delicious .....try the yellow tail spoon!! And who can resist a tempura Oreo cookie with ice cream?
Fresh sushi and great service. Please support small business and check them out.
The best Sushi in Orange! 🍣 I got the Baked Salmon Roll and it was amazing! 🍱
Don’t leave without trying the popcorn crawfish!!
Tremendous sushi, amazing staff and very affordable - one of my favourite restaurants.
If you're in the area and is looking for some fresh Sushi, Sushi boom is the place. Great service and awesome food
The lunch box combo is excellent! This place is my go-to when I want to have chicken deriyaki and a California roll.
This place used to be amazing. They changed ownership and the quality of food and customer service has gone down.
Very good food, and very friendly staff, we will be back many times....
Top notch quality and service. I highly recommend you visit if you're craving sushi.
Their rolls are creative and taste amazing. The staff is what makes it 5 star. This is a rare place that you can bring kids to sushi.
I love Sushi Boom. We used to skip over here all the time. I still do every time I'm in town. It's a nice family run spot and you can tell they love what they do.
My fave in OC. I asked for chef's choice, which I would highly recommend. Every dish was new to me, an every one was better than the next. I'd say more but that would spoil it for you.
Always a great location. Great customer service, great food, clean facilities. Definitely a 5-star rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great little sushi place. Not my favorite, but it has stiff competition with me. Check for specials, they are definitely worth it.
Fresh food.. clean environment. Professional service. Excellent..
Great service, fresh food, it is all good! And a great location in front of the carwash to get your car clean while eating some great sushi!
Sushi Boom is our GO TO sushi place. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and the sushi chefs are top notch! It is a comfortable environment with outstanding sushi at more than reasonable prices. Kanpai! to Sushi Boom
Best place in all of OC to have sushi hands down. Service is great, very friendly staff and great priced. Going there tonight!!!!! 😊
One of the best sushi places in Orange. Staff is always very friendly, Food is always fresh. Love this place
I love this place! Their quality sushi and creative roll offerings keep me coming back for more.
Hidden Gem in Orange! The food is always fresh, staff is very friendly and accommodating, feels like family.
Great place. Lunch special is to die for. Lots to choose from. They turned us into sushi eaters.
My wife and I had a great experience. The food tasted great and the staff was helpful and friendly and place itself was clean.
The food and staff are great. Great sushi and super friendly employees.
Will only be coming here for my sushi :) The place is small but has a very friendly staff and mst importantly delicious sushi. Must have Hungry Roll. *wish I would have taken a pic* Their soft shell crab actually contained meat, unlike other places that give you more breading. The baked mussels were soft and hot not dry or cold. And all rolls were a perfect size and had cute decorations. Will be going back very very soon:))
The best sushi in Orange. Look no further this is our new go-to spot! Even after bringing the sushi home, the tempura was still crispy unlike other restaurants where it is soggy by the time you get home. The Ono is lemony and spicy. Absolutely delicious. Spider roll is perfect. Iron monkey is a great baked roll. The portions and flavors were perfect. Pricing is fair as well. My husband and I no longer need to try other sushi spots when we want sushi. 💖🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣
I go here all the time for happy hour. I'm never disappointed. Sometimes it can get a bit busy but the sake keeps flowing and the rolls are yummy! Bento box is the best deal. So much food!
We came and made a to-go order. The staff was super friendly (and masked). I will definitely return. I got the 3 item Bento box and it was delicious. The tempora was perfectly crispy. The chicken teriyaki was juicy and the California roll was flavorful.
It was my first time to a sushi place. So most of the names on the menu were greek and latin to me😂. But the people there were very patient and helpful to help me choose my food. I think I had temp California. It was really delicious! I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
Always lovely staff. Food always impeccable. I like the aesthetic. The only thing I would change is the air conditioning. It gets pretty warm in there. But I go pretty regularly because it's worth it.
My family loves Sushi Boom. Always gracious host and the food is fantastic. Good beer selection and great rolls. My 3yr old likes the kids beef bento box. You can't go wrong with Sushi Boom.
This sushi spot is super good. It’s a little bit hidden but once you find it you’ll most def come back. Great happy hour deals and they also do take out. Good sushi 🍣
I'm just glad there is a Japanese restaurant in this neighborhood that's clean with excellent service. The fish is fresh. It doesn't taste old, or look old. The bento boxes and the udon noodles were cooked well. The noodles weren't too hard or too soft where it just breaks away in your mouth. The only thing they are missing, with the sashimi, is 고추장. Omg they have 고추장.
What a nice place. Staff just so good. Excellent food. $1.95 draft Kirin during Happy hour. Don't get turned down by the store front look.
The staff is incredibly friendly and cheerful, the food was delicious, and the prices are more than fair. I'd highly recommend that anyone who enjoys sushi to give it a try!
Best Sushi in OC!!!
Good place for sushi, rolls... My daughter and I both enjoyed what we ordered and shared it. Good service. Will go back again.
Been going here for years. For a small establishment, the service and quality of food are great. Well prepped items that not only taste but look amazing.
One of the best sushi spots in Orange County. Amazing rolls. The fish is always incredibly fresh. Sushi chef Dave is phenomenal!
Great service. Good seemed fresh and yummy. Drink and food specials. Well worth it. I'll have to update with pictures. Bomb.
Our Sushi spot was closed, we tried this new place. Food is delicious, friendly environment and prices are reasonable. Don't let the outside fool you. Sushi is delish...yummy. I recommend.
They have a great lunch special sushi roll deal. Fresh fish and great service. I want to go back to try some of their bowls as well.
I work at the college up the road so Sushi Boom is within a reasonable amount of time to get to. The food is wonderful. The service is usually outstanding. The atmosphere is ok for such a small space. I don't eat a lot of sushi but when I do, it is usually at Sushi Boom.
My husband and I really enjoyed this place! Unique, fresh rolls. The place was super clean and service was great. The two servers were prompt and kind. This place is pretty small so I could see there being a wait during a busy time. We went for an early dinner (5pm) and was seated right away. Try it! Oh and they have a selection of beer, and sake. I say this because for some reason a lot of sushi places in Orange do not serve alcohol.
Awesome atmosphere and very personal service. The menu was fresh and delightful. Will clearly recommend this spot to friends and family.
Great customer service! Was kinda busy but still got our food quickly. Loved the portion size for cost. I had the 3 item bento box and 1 roll and couldn’t finish it all. Only downside is they could only split check in 2 (we had party of 6), but luckily a couple people had cash on them.
Sushi boom has really great options and the quality is off the charts. The staff is always extremely accommodating. They also have a great 3 roll special daily for under twenty five dollars. They also do great birthday desserts, so go on your birthday and be treated to one.
Lunch combo was so good. I was passing my oc area and ate. Sushi was good. I think the server was Chloe she was very nice and sweet. I noticed the locals come here alot while I was eating here which means this is a good spot. If you want descent sushi and superb service this is the spot.
This is my family's favorite sushi place. The quality of fish is amazing and the flavor of everything is superb. My personal recommendation is the sashimi platter. The fish is spectacular. If they have the broiled salmon belly when you visit, order it. That item is life changing. While they are not open for dine-in, the takeout process is very easy. Calling in or ordering at the window both work out really easily. So go and get your sushi fix at this wonderful place.
By far my favorite sushi place, every roll I have purchased is constructed to perfection. David , one of the sushi chefs, is a genius! It's easy to be just another sushi place especially is SoCal but Sushi Boom is head and shoulders above many others. The fresh sushi grade fish is delicious , service is amazing and dining experience perfect. The only bad thing is I wish there was a clone restaurant near me! Alas still best in my opinion.
Great food! Quick serving time. Super cool friendly attentive staff. It was my daughters first time trying. It and although she didn't like it, I loved it since I got to eat more!
Great sushi spot in OC. fish is always fresh and staff always friendly. Highly recommend
The food was incredible. Really good quality, fresh and fast service. It was my first time visiting and although small the carry out customers were non stop. I wish I took pictures but my husband and I ate it all too fast. We had edamame (which was hot), seared albacore, cucumber roll and a picante roll. Would highly recommend!
I was craving sushi for the first time in a while, so I came here because a friend recommended it. The price was reasonable, the sushi and rolls were delicious, and the service was great. I intend to come again next time.
Arrived when they opened, very welcoming. Also made a special roll for me. Love the food decoration/presentation.
The food was good and service was really good. I live so close so this is awesome! We will be back!
Really good sushi and sashimi. The udon was a bit saltier than I like and the fried ice cream came out soggy. Still worth coming down for.
Great local Sushi place, fresh products, friendly and attentive staff, menu with a large assortment. A+. Give it a try.
Enjoyable sushi, I like the quality. The prices are a little expensive but I guess I didn't mind it. Love the service.
I personally don't eat sushi but they have a nice selection of non fish sushi food for people like me everything I've ever got in there was just great and the beers and the service they're a little high but they're worth every penny
Great sushi for an inexpensive price. Great lunch specials, and great Sapporo specials as well! Come in the afternoon to avoid the crowd, as the place is a bit small and can feel cramped when full. A great stop for some quick, good quality sushi.
Tiger crunch roll and Chapman roll, two of my favorites. Sushi Boom does an exceptional job at making roll's (The cut tuna roll is the exception to the exceptional... I don't know why, but where the rest of their fish is fine quality, their tuna has...a different taste? I have had it on two separate occasions and both times... different. Plus, the second time the tuna cut roll had cucumber ???? Otherwise, good, friendly service and always a little busy (which to me means fresher because of constant turnover). I'll be back!
My go to for Crunch Rolls & more. Everything fresh. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Note closed mid afternoon. Happy hour specials.
Excelente
The food was ok for me. Coconut shrimp was greasy. My friend ordered a baked item which didn't come baked. But they said, oh, well, it's how we serve it, so we refused it.
Quick service, typical sushi to go menu, quality of fish was fine, rice quality was good, we'll prepared and presented
This is s tiny local sushi restaurant. Very crowded and the food is basic. Had much better, but have also had worse. Stick to rolls and you'd be safe!
Sushi was warm when arrived, service was fairly slow as well, people were nice but we were ignored for other tables on multiple occasions.
the food is Good 🍣👍 in the app say the gratuity is included, but it is not true. the check was well over $300 the Restaurant clerk wanted an additional $67 tip. state of CA states that if a party over a certain amount can be charged a Service surcharge. the service charge is for the employer to keep but a tip is for the waiter to keep. granted they didn't add that surcharge I felt it incomfortable to leave a 20% tip for shoving us (6 adults , 2 kids, and 2 babies) in a small corner and never coming by unless they were dripping off food. > the clerk yelled at my group out the Restaurant and claimed to remember me for not paying her a tip of $67. mind you, we left a $50 tip ..... I don't think is legal 🤔
Sushi Boom had a nice environment, clean and cozy. The sushi, miso soup, were decent, not the best but still enjoyable. And the mochi ice cream was a real treat! 🍨
Food is delicious! I recommend the ceviche boom roll... The service is not so great, and the ambiance is non existent. My recommendation is that you know what to have before you sit, and order right away. You won't see a waiter again for a while.
Service was a little slow. Sushi was okay I didn't feel like it was super fresh. Food and presentation was adequate. Kids food menu items was better than my rolls.
Took 2 stars because the sushi/sashimi is expensive even during happy hour compared to what I'm used to. Service is amazing though because there is always someone coming to the table to check on you. Cold sake was good and I had a delicious bbq chicken & beef teriyaki dish. Go for the rolls, not the sushi. They have a nice selection.
I found the Sushi to be lacking, pieces of fish were small and thin and the rolls were not tight. Presentation was great and the staff are really nice. For the base prices you can pay the same for a roll at other places to get far better sushi, but their specials are low cost. The quality of the food was great though, safe, clean and looked great.
La comida me pareció bien. Los camarones al coco estaban grasosos. Mi amigo pidió un plato horneado que no venía horneado. Pero dijeron: «Bueno, así es como lo servimos», así que lo rechazamos.
Had to amend this. New owner. Not my go to spot anymore. I do not recommend it as far as food is concerned. Staff is ok
As always the order was not ready on time. I arrived at my pickup time and I was patient and didn't mind waiting 5 mins for them to finish. I ask about my order at the end of it to find my order has yet to even be started and it will be 15 before it is done. THE FOOD IS GOOD, but they don't respect your time. We are all struggling and I have to gear my time towards making money. If you where honest when I first asked, I wouldn't have just left
You can’t take kids meals to go, which is absurd. Sushi is good but service is bad. We were asking for recommendations and they ignored us and walked away. We didn’t have to wait too long for our order to be ready.
This ramen 😂! u can buy it from any asain market by $1.5! U can cook much more better than this store! They sell u $12 and called k ramen! K means kidding😂
Awful service! Went today with my toddler asked waitress if I could eat out side she answered right away no, she said you seat here in this table, mean while I started looking at the menu what to other my husband stared feeding my toddler out side food which we purchased because my daughter doesn’t eat anything from this restaurant. The lady came to us and told us that we couldn’t bring out side food. I just walked away and left. Bad customer service! Not ever going back there.
Bad service from the waitress; food was cold
although having been here as a customer in the past, this review is about my experience as a food delivery driver picking up from this restaurant. employee was extremely rude and disrespectful when i arrived a few minutes late to pick up an order. as i apologized and tried to explain that i had to pick up another order from a restaurant that was one minute away, he cut me off abruptly and proceeded to yell at me for being late. i tried to be patient and asked him to just listen for a second, but he refused and continued to yell and chastise me. i gave up trying to get him to hear me out and asked him to just give me the order so i can go do my job. looking back, i wish i didn't waste my time and energy begging him to listen and understand. there is no reasoning with people like him. i really should have just dropped the order and left as soon as i sensed his hostility. i've picked up orders from this restaurant several times before and there's been a few times where they didn't have the order ready when i arrived on time. I had to wait around 10 mins because they were behind on orders. was i rude to the employees for not having the food ready on time? & was i disrespectful and yelled at them for making me wait? NOPE. i was polite and waited patiently as i understood how busy restaurants can be. message to the rude employee: life is too damn short to be a bitter old man. perhaps you should take some time to reevaluate your life. (note: i originally posted this review on yelp to which the owner responded with lies and false claims. see pics for his message and my response to it in an updated review)
Nice team running the restaurant however the mild ramen we ordered is INSTANT ramen (they added two small pieces of fresh cabbage to it) and they forgot our gyoza (yet charged for it - since we got takeout, I didn't check we got everything before leaving the restaurant). We ordered two rolls which were okay, ramen, green beans (swimming in grease and many pieces were burnt), tempura, and gyoza (which was forgotten about). Everything would've been acceptable but to use instant ramen on a restaurant menu is pretty low. Please tell all your Korean friends who run Japanese restaurants to never do this - you're only perpetuating the belief that Koreans can't do Japanese food.
Food is mediocre. But the reason for 1 star is because of 2 separate events. Our first time there we ate as a family and I barely had enough cash for the bill plus a 2 dollar tip. The lady at the cashier looked upset over the tip and said "That's it?" I went back to my car to get 2 more dollars in quarters. To which she took, scoffed and put in the tip jar. The second time, my daughter and her friend went and they shared a plate. But when they when they tried to pay the exact price for the meal, the waiter told them to wait and came back saying they didn't pay enough and they needed 1 more dollar. They gave him the dollar and watched him put the dollar in their tip jar. I'm just going to leave it at that, you decide what kind of place you want to eat at.
This place has gone downhill for about a year. We came here last week to give them another chance but had the worst experience. The quality and service were down and the only thing going up is the price. We ordered a chirashi bowl and from the looks and even taste we know it's not fresh. We dined here for a few years and noticed a big difference. When we brought it to their attention there was no apology or attempt to address the issue. They took it away. This place used to be packed but now I can see why people like us are leaving.
