Savor American classics in Orlando's backyard
Informal chain serving signature ice cream treats alongside American classics like burgers & melts.
Friendly's in Orlando offers a nostalgic diner experience with classic American fare and ice cream. Many appreciate the friendly service, especially mentioning servers like Natalie and Jeanne. The Strawberry Shortcake and Reese's Pieces Sundae are popular, though some found cleanliness lacking.
Tip: If you're a fan of Friendly's, you'll likely enjoy this location. The ice cream is a must-try, especially the Reese's Pieces Sundae.
I loved the legendary melt. It was amazing and the service was also amazing. I dont know why there isn't more locations here in the south but I really enjoyed it. I look forward to returning.
We haven't been to a Friendlys in years. We were sad to see them leave Ohio. Jamie M was our server in Orlando while visiting. He was prompt, courteous and made our orders correct. Definitely stop and see them while in town. Reese's ice cream is excellent.
We had a great experience tonight! I was so happy to hear a new Friendly's was opening in the area so we had to come give it a try. Service was wonderful (shout out to our server Tony! He was awesome, very attentive and friendly), plus managers came around multiple times asking how the meal was. Food was great and restaurant was clean and a nice, big size with many tables and booths. Looking forward to returning!
We were very pleasantly surprised at this friendlys location. We go way back with friendlys being from new england, so when we find them in the south we get excited, it brings back lots of memories for our family. Some friendlys have closed and seem to have just disappeared from the map, so we were happy to find this one so close to where we were staying. It seems like it was a newer location or it was remodeled, with the exception of the bathrooms, not sure if they were just not finished yet or what, but they weren’t the best. Otherwise, the restaurant was nice and big and the booth seating was large and comfortable. THIS LOCATION IS PET FRIENDLY!!! Making our visit possible and all the better. We were shocked to learn the servers do everything except the cooking. That’s crazy! They seat guests, bring menus and set ups, wait tables, clean tables, bring the drinks and food and also make the ice cream dessert orders! We were like, WOW. And they do this for all of their tables. So there’s no choice but to wait a little bit. These poor people are running crazy. This location has plenty of free parking as well, and seemed to be handicapped accessible. The menu choices were immense and they have lots of specials so take advantage of them, just be aware some advertised specials can’t be combined and it’s not advertised so it was a bit confusing when we got the bill. For instance, they have a $9 lunch special with a few different choices available, and that Is advertise on a little paper stand at each table, but also on the regular menu they show different choices that come with a Sundae for dessert, however it does not state that because it’s a $9 lunch special you can’t have the free sundae for dessert, it’s one or the other- you either pay the full price for the sandwich or meal choice option and your sundae is free or you pay the $9 lunch special with no free Sundae. They also offer a military discount but again only on items that are not part of a special price already. So in other words, no military discount on the $9 lunch special. All understandable just making you aware because it was kind of confusing when the bill came. Now on to the food. The food was amazingly delicious!!! From the presentation to the taste, the food actually came out looking like the pictures in the menu that never happens. Come on people how many of us disappointed when our food arrives to the table and we say that does not look like the picture well, I can honestly tell you that the food that was brought to our table and we had five lunches, one of them looked exactly like the menu picture advertised and the food was delicious from beginning to end! Ready for this? They have a summer lobster roll special yes I said Friendly’s has lobster rolls that came with fries and they were made with real lobster!! They were amazing!! Then we got a tuna roll and chose onion rings for an up charge. Then we got a Philly cheesesteak with fries and a Pastrami supermelt with fries. And for dessert, a truly humungous strawberry milkshake, a mint chocolate chip sundae, I meant chocolate chip sundae with brownie bites, A black raspberry sundae and a black raspberry sugar cone. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! If you find yourself near this location, PLEASE GO YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. I’m going to add photos of the food, but unfortunately, I failed to take photos of the ice cream but trust me it was all delicious.
Friendly’s is a very nostalgic place to eat for us. I grew up going with my family in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Many have closed up there so we always come when we are in Orlando. Their new location is clean, our waitress was great, and the food is good…although I never veer from the bbq chicken super melt! :) We happened to be there when the owners/investors were having a meeting and they were all nice and excited to expand the brand again! Open one in Greenville, SC and you’d do very well!
I'm so glad that Friendly's moved locations, and didn't close. We always go to the Friendly's on International Dr. when we're in Orlando. We were so upset when we saw that it wasn't there anymore. I googled Friendly's, and found their new location. The food and service was great!!!! Will definitely be returning when in the area again!!!!
We haven't seen a Friendly's in years all the ones around us closed and we loved them so we was so happy to see this one while visiting. It brought back all the good memories we've had eating at Friendly's. The food was amazing and just how we remembered it. Our waitress was awesome, helpful, and very friendly. I'm only sad this isn't in our home state. Thanks for the good food.
The service here is amazing! The sweetest people you’ll ever meet! Ice cream is to die for! Food is immaculate! When my family and I travel to Orlando for our family vacation this is our first stop and we stop on our last day before we leave. Sometimes in between days we are here. I definitely would recommend you guys come here and enjoy good food and ice cream. Ice cream is included for your little ones with their food.
A million stars for Jeanna C. and Anna! They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel welcoming from start to finish. Service like theirs is why Ill definitely be coming back again and again. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable again! It was so nice seeing you again for how many years and you still remember me, Love you both!
The Ice cream Quality is still def 4.5 stars. It might get slow on weekends due to the amount of people, but they do offer a great and fast service on the ice cream area. It’s a great place to get the legendary ice cream. I am local and since 2013 is been my go to ice cream store.
Nice to find a Friendly's. Grew up with them in PA. Restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. The prices are reasonable. Its your standard diner food but it is the ice cream that Friendly's is known for. Found my new Saturday spot.
Typical Friendly's food. If you're a fan, you'll love it. Ultimate chicken super melt and the fribbles are the best. Waitstaff was courteous and polite despite being short handed she catered to our wants with ease. Will be back no issue.
Definitely was a throwback from the past. Friendly's was my first job, I worked for them in Warwick RI from 1993-2000. I was excited to see one while visiting Orlando. The ice cream was delicious, our Sever Jason was great. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.
We had an absolutely amazing experience as a family with Ashley as our server. She made our birthday celebration extra special!! She was so kind, attentive, and made the experience just wonderful! Friendly’s is a nostalgic family favorite of ours, and Ashley really knocked it out of the park for us. We’ll ask for Ashley when we come back!
Had brunch at Friendly’s and absolutely loved it! The service was great, the food was fresh and tasty, and the kids really enjoyed it. The best part? That classic sweet ice cream treats, just like I remembered from my childhood, some of my fondest memories before Friendly’s closed in many locations. So glad to share that same joy with my kids now. I truly hope they bring this beloved spot back to more states!
I hadn’t been to Friendly’s in years, but I decided to stop in with my kids for lunch and some ice cream—and honestly, it was a fun throwback. The food was pretty standard diner fare: burgers, melts, fries. Nothing fancy, but it hit the spot. I ordered the SuperMelt and it came out hot and gooey, just like I remembered. The real reason we came, though, was the ice cream. And that did not disappoint. The Reese’s Pieces Sundae is still as over-the-top and delicious as ever, and my daughter loved her build-your-own sundae. The portions are big, so come hungry or be ready to share. Service was friendly, though a little slow—but it seemed like they were short-staffed, which is pretty common these days. Our waitress was sweet and checked in often. If you’re looking for a casual spot with a family-friendly vibe, especially if you’ve got kids or just want to relive some childhood memories, Friendly’s is a solid pick. Just don’t go in expecting gourmet food—it’s all about the nostalgia and the ice cream.
Server was excellent, remembered all our orders and was fast and efficient. we all got food which was very good and pretty reasonably priced. I've waited years to get another Reeses Peices Sundae and i was thrilled this location was open. Literally a 10 year wait was worth it.
I LOVE their Barbecue chicken melt!! The food is always delicious n well prepared. The place itself is really nice. I wish there was one closer to where I live. I would definitely recommend this place a thousand times!!!
I love the nostalgic diner theme Friendly's has always been, the food is still good and the ice cream is always a satisfying treat! Our server didn't check on us much, but other than that it was good.
Classic American comfort food with a healthy dose of nostalgia. Great spot for breakfast with super friendly service and excellent coffee.
The food was great especially the Strawberry Shortcake. My waitress was also friend and quick on takin care of me.
This is a rating based on what I expected Friendly’s to be. I didn’t come in expecting it to be a formal dinner, but more on along the line of Steak ‘n Shake. For that, it met expectations. The environment was clean and our waitress was attentive. There’s food we don’t eat, but there were a mix of options to choose from and no one had a lack of choices. It wasn’t too busy, but was steady. Prices were fair and they even have specials like the $4 kids meal with adult purchase on Tuesdays. I thought the fry baskets were pretty cute, and my daughter had fun making her own sundae with that option from the kids menu.

Atmosphere is good considering its in a little strip mall. Everything inside is new though. The food is good and consistent. I love the Fish-a-majig, which is a fish filet, cheese and tartar sauce on toasted bread. I can count on it being the exact same every time, always delicious!
They changed the Mac and cheese sence the last time I was there but it was still good and the ice cream was as good as ever!! Although the true standout was our waiter Natalie! She took such good care of us and was such a sweetheart. Not only was she able to take care of us but she took great care of the maybe ten other tables around us at the same time with ease! Truly a top tier waiter and person!!

Our family enjoyed the following entrees: chicken wings, All-American burger, and Reuben SuperMelt. The exception would be the Munchie Mania which had poor quantity and quality. Everyone enjoyed their dessert. The server did a very good job considering they appeared to be short staffed.
We had the pleasure of being served by Jeanne today at Friendly’s and we were so pleased by her attentiveness and pace of service. We had one very upset toddler with us and she ensured that he had a drink and his food out first which made the rest of our experience smoother! Friendly’s has always been a staple in my family and I’m so glad I can continue the tradition of visits with my own son.
I haven’t had a Friendly’s near me in years so coming here was like stepping back in time. The sundae did not disappoint. It was delicious. My only area of criticism is the cleanliness of the restroom. We did go in the evening and they did seem a little short staffed, but it needed to be noted.
My husband and I stopped mid afternoon for a sundae. Service was very slow. The ice cream was smooth, creamy and delicious 😋 l asked for lots of hot fudge, but got the usual amount. We had to wait awhile for our check.
Grew up with Friendly’s in NE Ohio. Finally saw one locally when in town visiting. Last time ate at Friendly’s was in 1993. I ordered super peanut butter sundae with Reese’s which was my childhood favorite. The service was friendly and quick. My sundae was a mug mess outside of the cup. So I had to use napkins to help move to bowl around to eat. It’s nice to have it again after so many years…. I haven’t had their meals since I just wanted the sundae.

Went for the nostalgia, as the Friendly's in our area have been gone for a while. Only got dessert. Although the peanut butter sauce is slightly different, it still hit the spot. Kids enjoyed it too! Took a few minutes to get service, but after initiated, it was great!

While Friendly’s may be fondly remembered for their family friendly food and fun deserts, they current incarnation is more all over the place with a generic “American” menu, generally not great service and an odd problem of frequently being out of items. This location has really struggled since opening and while it is still an OK option in an area completely full of every chain restaurant known to man, nostalgia and not the food or service is why most will choose to return.
I love Friendly’s. Used to go all the time as a child and it brings back fond memories. I was excited when I heard about this new one because the one on I-Drive is a dump. But this spot was a total disappointment. The food was decent. I hate that they changed their fries because these suck. The chicken tenders also changed but they were really good. The hot dog hasn’t changed, it was also pretty good. Ice cream was also good and just like I remember although they got to us melted and sad looking. My cone still had paper on it and was hard and stale. (See pic) The service was terrible. So much staff on hand (not crowded when I arrived) but all they are doing is standing around talking doing a bunch of nothing rather than tending to the customers and checking on their tables. They need to learn how to manage their time better for sure. The manager isn’t any better at directing her staff. She checked on us at the end and I was honest. I know this is a new place and they may still be trying to work out the kinks but 2 hours later I was finally leaving after sloooow poor service.
Small portions and shortage of menu items...when we went they had no fried pickles or crushed oreos for ice cream.Pay $15 for a very small portion combo appetizer and my $14 double hamburger looked like 1 of those smashed burgers from McDonald's. Only good thing I can say and wish I could remember her name was our waitress..she was amazing. Also hate the credit card fee they charge you but at least they are up front with it with a sign by the front door.So needless to say will not be returning.
I hadn't even gotten my food before this place has fixed my writers/reviewers block. My waitress was reluctant in seating my group and in taking our orders. It's a table of 9 but there was no other people in the "restaurant". Furthermore, she handed me all the drinks to pass out. Like okay? Am I also gonna get a tip or what's going on? Miss girl isn't making the food she just has to put it down. She attempted handing me the plates to hand out as well but I awkwardly managed to pretend to be occupied by my phone. As far as food is concerned-- I'm blown away by how fries could be served cold and burnt. Cool! I ordered hot dogs because everything else seemed unappealing and I assumed it'd be gross but the hot dog buns are quite literally just slices of bread. Along with that!! A family member walked by the ice cream and saw a worker scoop with her hand! I forgot about that. Ew and yuck! Seemed fine otherwise.
Came here a couple of years ago when I was in town for my kid's soccer tourney and when they first opened. It was such a great experience bringing back memories of when I had Reese's Pieces sundae in Connecticut as a child. Fast forward two years and went back with the family on a Disney trip and the irony of being greeted by an 'unfriendly' host blew my mind. All the servers seemed miserable and the food portions were terrible. At least the sundae was pretty much still the same. I hope this doesn't turn out to be another tragic story of another Friendly's closing shop. Hire people who want to be there. A smile to a customer when they walk in is basic business 101.
Edit. Friendlys acknowledged this wasn't there best..and not what is acceptable and made it right. So I WILL GO BACK Are you serious? Im from sanford and used to love friendlys...so stopped today. This was 20.05. Rip off. The meat was so dry and grissly..and the potatoes were smashed down. I'd really like my money back. Drove all the way home to be disappointed. The only good thing was the sundae. Won't be back
We stopped by Friendly’s thinking it was Freddy’s because the logo looks really similar. Unfortunately, that was the best part of the experience. The service was okay, but the place was not clean — several tables hadn’t been bussed, and the overall vibe felt neglected. The food was just average. My Philly burger was decent, but the fries were cold, which was disappointing. We really wanted to like this place, but it missed the mark. Not somewhere we’d go out of our way to visit again.

We were incredibly disappointed with our recent visit to Friendly’s in Orlando. Right from the start, we were greeted by a handwritten note taped to the door that read, “We prefer cash if possible.” It’s 2025, if a business isn’t equipped to handle credit cards properly, it needs to seriously reconsider its business model. Not only was the sign off-putting and unprofessional, but it also distracted us from noticing the other sign on the opposite door listing everything they were out of. Once seated, we quickly learned that the majority of the items we actually wanted were unavailable. Whoever is managing inventory clearly isn’t doing their job well. We ended up ordering meals we didn’t even want just to get through dinner and enjoy the real reason we came, the ice cream. But of course, the final blow: they were out of vanilla ice cream. VANILLA. The base of nearly all of their classic ice cream options. At that point, the entire experience was a letdown. Friendly’s used to be one of our favorite stops in Orlando, but after this visit, it’s hard to imagine coming back.
This was the worst service we have ever received. Four servers and 4 tables occupied the two families infront of us waiting walked out. We stayed the 20 minute wait and ordered directly when they sat us. Our food was not brought out for 45 minutes food came out cold and we were not checked on from the time we sat. My husband ran out of water and she did not check for 30 minutes. We had to ask for our icecrean which was already ordered. It took 15 minutes to get to our table. My sons monster mash sundae didn't even look like a monster.
I came in with my 2 kids.” Fenali” ( forgive the spelling) seated us and was our server. she seemed annoyed as soon as we walked in. no pleasantries or Smile, She just looked at us, grabbed a couple of menus and told us to follow her. She was not friendly, and never introduced yourself. I had to ask her name at the end of the meal. She only gave us 1 kids menu, when I said she forgot the extra menu she told to have my kids share the ONE she brought. I didn’t complain, even though I was getting annoyed. we just ordered, my younger child ordered the kids blue ras. Before he can say another word, she cuts him off and says “no refills”. Rude. But still I don’t make it an issue. She then brings out his drink, which is an up charge drink, That’s supposed to come in a specialty glass with “ no refills” , And it’s in an extremely tiny children’s to go cup. My child was a little bit, disappointed, but before I had the chance to say anything, she walked off. Fast-forward, we get to the kids desserts. Which we waited about 20 min for and there was Only 1 other table in the restaurant And she wasn’t even their server..( she walked passed us at least 5 times during this wait and never cleared the table) When she finally brought out the ice cream, both of their ice cream’s Were in to-go cups melted. At this point, I speak up and say this is not ok and she got huffy, This made me uncomfortable and even more annoyed than I had already been. So I then said, don’t worry about it just bring out the check. The table never got cleared of the dishes, I paid immediately and left. This was truly a bad experience, she was so rude, and Inattentive.
⭐ 1 out of 5 stars Breakfast Ghost Town We were in Orlando expecting every breakfast spot to be slammed, but I had a nostalgic thought—Friendly’s! As an old-timer, I remembered they used to serve breakfast, so we headed there thinking we cracked the code when we saw only a few cars in the lot. We walked in… and it was like a ghost town. No customers, no staff in sight. We even had to check the menu ourselves to confirm they still serve breakfast. Eventually, someone peeked out from the back, saw us, and disappeared again—no greeting, no “be right with you,” nothing. After 10 minutes of standing awkwardly, we gave up and left. Not sure if this location is open, half-open, or turning into a DIY breakfast concept, but either way, we won’t be back.
in orlando, being open for 3 weeks and having a 3.8 rating is extremely concerning. I personally have opened four restaurants, a lot of time and effort goes into it, and no effort was put into opening this friendly's. I showed up at friendly's at noon. my friend showed up at 12:10. we were finally greeted at 12:30. I ordered a strawberry fribble, small. my friends were still deciding which flavor fribble they wanted. it took 20 minutes for the fribble to make it to the table. it was melted, and worse the server hadn't taken the time to put whipped cream or a cherry on top. one of the things that friendly's is known for is the whipped cream and cherry on top of the fribble. we still hadn't ordered because the server kept running back and forth, but we finally did. we ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, the Doritos Cool ranch chopper, the Patty melt, and the Marion Berry grilled cheese. the appetizer took 20 minutes to come out. the mozzarella sticks that only needed to be dropped in a deep fryer for 5 minutes took 20 minutes to come out. the restaurant wasn't that busy. then we continue to wait for our entrees. and wait. it was another 20 minutes before I grabbed a server that wasn't ours, because our server was nowhere to be seen, and told them to get me a manager now. a child's that probably can't legally rent a car came over and meekly claimed to be the manager. I still don't believe them. I think the manager was in the back snacking. I told him how ridiculous it was that it had taken 20 minutes for me to get my fribble, that are appetizers had shown up before my friend got his fribble, that tables that had been seeded after we had ordered had already gotten their food, and that we couldn't get our server to come and serve us. the child said he would go see where our food was. he went over to the past, and was talking to our server. eventually they attempted to give us our "food". stop reading, go look at the picture of the Marion Barry grilled cheese. look at how it's not a grilled cheese, it is a cheese sandwich because that cheese is not melted. not at all. my chopped Burger was ice cold, it and the fries were unseasoned. the dorito chips that came in it were stale. they've been open for 3 weeks. have they been using the same bag of chips the whole time? I have to believe they have. my other friend's patty melt was hot, but again unseasoned. did they lose the salt and pepper after opening? they weren't extremely busy, but again, we noted that people that were seated after us got their food before us. when my friend told the manager child that Hertz grilled cheese was infected cheese sandwich, and that she had asked for the bacon on the side for her loaded fries, however they had put the bacon on the fries, he tried to take it away before I took the picture. not fast enough though. zoom in on the hard edges of the cheese. does it look grilled? I know that they know how to make a grilled cheese at friendly's, as a child it was the only thing I would eat. again, I have opened for restaurants. I understand that in the first 3 weeks there's a certain amount of kindness you need to extend because it's often a crazy house, but here the servers were just hanging out and chatting while the manager was using a full roll of towels to wipe down tables, which is how I know they weren't the manager. a manager wouldn't use that many towels, it was like he was trying to wrap his arm like a mummy. 3 weeks this mess has been open and unfortunately it does remind me of the old friendly's. I remember going to the old one and having to wait what felt like hours for food. is that the friendly's way? make us wait for our food until we're so hungry and tired that will eat whatever you put in front of us? the server needs to be trained more. the manager needs to be trained more. the kitchen needs to understand how to stagger a check. how are they not dropping fries on plates at the same time? 3.8 rating after 3 weeks. in 6 months it'll be a steak and shake and we won't have to think about friendly's again.
I’ve now been to this location 3 times, and the customer service is not getting any better. I’m finally leaving a review and canceling my business with the restaurant, because today was over the line bad. You will never be acknowledged in a timely or professional manor if you place a mobile order, as I have each visit. I’ve had kitchen staff come out and yell at me in the past thinking I was an uber driver. Not sure why that would matter and warrant hostility? I did not receive my correct order tonight, and it was actually a size smaller than what I’d ordered, meaning they did in fact take money for a product that wasn’t provided. Not sure if that’s fraud or theft, but it’s inexcusable and illegal either way. Staff members were also arguing amongst each other while I was waiting and using profanity. Every time I leave this location, it’s in a worse mood than when I arrived. Such a menial task, and they screw it up habitually.
I was not able to give it less than one star or I would have. This is the worst experience with a restaurant that I have had in a very long time. My family and I walked into the restaurant about 7:30 p.m. although the restaurant was scheduled to be open for another three and a half hours, we were treated as an inconvenience from the moment that we walked through the door . We stood at the entrance waiting to be seated and continued to stand there while employees conversed, wiped off one empty table, and wiped down display cabinets and equipment. After waiting approximately 10 to 15 minutes two others walked in behind us and one of the employees finally made their way over to us. We were told that there would be about a 10 to 15 minute wait because they were backed up. There were six to eight tables (occupied) and two servers assisting those tables that I saw. There were three additional employees at the counter in addition to employees working in the kitchen. There were approximately 25 to 30 tables unoccupied and clean. The two individuals that walked in behind us made it a point to say that they were only there for ice cream so they were seated but because we wanted to order food we were told again that it would take another 10 to 15 minutes. My family and I went out of our way, in Orlando, which is not easy. I would recommend that you do not waste your time if you have anything else to do. Choose another place, any place, but here.
