Woodlands in Orlando has been my go-to spot for the past 7 years, and they’ve never once disappointed! The modest ambience may not scream fine dining, but the food absolutely speaks for itself—lip-smacking and truly unforgettable. Their medu vada with sambar is perfection—crispy outside, fluffy inside, and the sambar is so flavorful it rivals (and even beats!) versions I’ve had in Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. That’s saying something! I also tried the chole bhature, and wow—the chole had a unique twist, with a curry base reminiscent of paneer tikka masala. Surprisingly, it worked beautifully with the fluffy bhature. Unexpected but delicious! Don’t miss their chai either—aromatic, strong, and comforting. At $4, it’s a little on the pricey side, but worth the indulgence. If you're in Orlando and craving authentic Indian vegetarian food, Woodlands should be your first stop. It’s mine every single time!

Great food & service. Tandoori Momos were great! No lunch buffet but apparently that’s not common around here unless it’s the weekend.

We visited this place upon a friends suggestion, the place was packed and we had to wait for about 40 min. Once we got a table we ordered the following. 1. Mysore masala dosa - the dosa was thin and a had a spicy chutney with a mellow and soft potato filling, the dosa was accompanied by green coconut chutney and South Indian canara style sambar. This was amazing and a must try 2. Onion and peas uthappam - the uthappam was loaded with onions which were caramalized perfectly and had a good amount of green peas, the texture and of the uthappam was perfect and also came with green coconut chutney and south canara style sambar. 3. Bisibelebath - The BBB was perfect and was made with in house masalas, the spice level was accurate and had a decent amount of ghee topping. This came with raita boondi and papad. 4. Sambar vada - Sambar was poured over two vadas and tasted awesome, this was one of the 2 appetizers we ordered. 5. Dahi vada - Vadas were laced with cold sweetened yogurt and had a cilantro dressing, this was the other appetizer we ordered. 6. Rava onion masala dosa - this was a chart topper, the dosa was crisp and had the potato filling. This was one of the best dosas we had so far. The woodlands reminded us some of the top breakfast spots from Bengaluru. The items were great and the service was very fast. Will definitely visit this place again.

Good food, good service. I highly recommend this vegetarian restaurant. This restaurant is flexible, able to cook dishes without garlic and onion. Suggesting to expand their restaurant since their business is so good. Suggest to cook dishes with less salt, will be good for health. Nice environment after refurbishment. The Indian coffee is good too.

We have been to Woodlands many times, and overall the food and service have been great. Today when my family went, we ordered a masala dosa, a plain dosa, medhu vada, and veg fried rice. Both the dosas were amazing. The vada was slightly dry, but tasted good. The fried rice was also nice, however in my opinion, the dosas were the best. With the dosas and the vada, they served sambar and coconut chutney. Both tasted very good. I especially liked the coconut chutney, which was one of the best I have had in a while. All of the food portions were very large and satisfying. The service today as well was also very great. After we were seated, they took our order quickly and and accommodated to our needs. It only took about 15 minutes for the food to come after that, and the restaurant was completely full. However, in the past, my family has faced problems with nut allergies. My sister and I both have nut allergies, and many of the chutneys and dosas contain nuts. Now, my sister only has the fried rice because it is one of the few items that are 100 percent nut free. This may have changed now as we have not had this problem for a while. Overall though, the food was fantastic and the service was very good. I would recommend this restaurant, especially for its dosas.

Its a blessing for Orlando to have a great Desi vegetarian restaurant in Orlando. We actually went there twice in 2 days during our trip to Orlando even though we typically prefer a carnivorous diet. We had dosas, uttapam, filter coffee and puri on day 1 and momos and gobi manchurian on day 2 and every single dish is as its made in India. They have got the gobi manchuri right which is rare in most indian restaurants across the US. The owners are always in there and they constantly monitor the operations thus making sure the service is good and speedy. Folks, a must stop over if you want authentic indian food.

They have amazing Indian food. While we visited Florida, we decided to take a carry out and tried out their 'paneer rice' and 'momo manchurian.' The food tasted authentic and the quantity was great. The children wanted to eat paneer rice for next few days; therefore, we had to make multiple trips during our stay.

One of my favorite places to go. When I was a vegetarian this was a safe haven! Everything I've tried is so good and the staff is always great. They used to a buffet. I'm not sure if they do but that was my favorite it really helped me get familiar with the menu. 10/10

It was HOLI on this day, so my daughter and I wanted vegetarian food. She really wanted sambar and idlies & I was also craving their masala dossa, idlies & chutney as it's been years since I ate their foods. We live over 30 mins away from this restaurant, so I decided to go straight from work & wait as they were closed between 3-5pm. I did not mind the wait because my daughter really wanted to eat these items today. We ordered idlies which came with sambar & masala dossa, which came with coconut chutney. I walked in right after 5pm, placed my order & it was completed to go within 10 mins. I like a lot of sambar & chutneys, therefore, requested extra, which I was wowed by their generous amounts. Their idlies were a descent size, soft & fluffy, just the way I like. Their sambar, masala dossa & coconut chutney were all very delicious. The restaurant tables were all nicely set up. Their staff member who took my order was knowledgeable about the menu items and very polite. Their bathroom was large and well kept. Highly recommended!!

Woodlands has been at its current location just North of the Florida Mall for decades. It is in my opinion, the best Southern Indian food in Orlando. They are strictly vegetarian; and although I really enjoy Indian seafood dishes (I am pescatarian), my wife and I often choose Woodlands over other Indian options because of their selection, quality and consistency. Naan, and other tandoori offerings are perfectly executed. The freshest paneer in town. Wonderfully deep and delicately complex sauces and fillings. The decor is plain and a little bright, but clean. They don’t open until 5p, but are bustling soon after everyday. Highly recommended.

Breakfast items are great at woodlands. Dosa, poori were really good. But my complaint is about thali. I do see other reviews with same issues. Rice is undercooked. Curries have no flavor. Dal is the same. Who puts pineapple curry and fruit custard in the same thali as if they tried to reuse leftover fruit from custard. I have an issue with even serving fruit custard in a 25 dollars thali. Very disappointed. Only one item was even close to being ok. Very very disappointed in thali. Skip thali and go for breakfast items. When I asked them if I can give an honest review in person instead of listening to customer feedback they started arguing with me about how people love fruit custard.

This review is specific to veg thalli that I had on 8/3 evening. Not sure if this the same everyday or just today. Rice is not cooked 100%, curries has no salt and taste, dal is ok like you boil and serve, the only thing that I liked is sweet it’s awesome. I wouldn’t recommend veg thalli in woodland.

Woodlands is a pretty mediocre Indian restaurant in Orlando. It almost feels as if it was one of the original spots for Indian food here, and unfortunately, as more Indian restaurants have moved to the OBT area, it’s quite a bit outdated compared to others. We have been to a majority of Indian restaurants in Orlando, and pretty much all of the ones right nearby Woodlands, and I can’t see a scenario where I would recommend this restaurant over others like Gully, Bombay and Khasiyat, unless those places are closed. There wasn’t anything inherently wrong with this place, and a few things we ordered were quite good, but we weren’t “amazed” by anything. The malai kofta was our favorite dish we ordered, the gobi manchurian with gravy is something you should pass on, and the mixed appetizer platter was pretty good, but some things on the platter weren’t our favorite. The batura bread was quite good, so I can assume other breads like naan would be good here as well. The service was kind of weird here - you have to waive down waiters and waitresses to get them to come to your table for bill, but at the same time they’re just staring at you from across the restaurant and it’s sorta awkward. Also, the exterior of the building is quite dilapidated, and it doesn’t have an inviting atmosphere. They should definitely do some updating to make it more appealing. Overall, we would probably try this place again, but only if we were in the area, and places like Gully, Bombay, and Khasiyat weren’t open.

I used to enjoy woodlands for the vegetarian offerings. Not any more. I believe they changed Management. Over priced. Quality has fallen down the cliff. The only saving grace was "mysore masala dosa" and "avial" curry" in lunch. Note to owner: Serving "Chana" in "royal thali" is not a good choice (They served 2 curries, Chana being one of them. Other was "Avial"). They also removed appetizer from "Royal Thali". When I asked, their reply was "Management changed". Pics: mysore masla dosa, paneer and Thali

Got dinner here with my family. For context, we are South Indian vegetarians who have been coming here as a family on and off for the last 20 years. We ordered the mixed vegetable pakora, gobi manchurian, veg uthappam, and chana bhatura. The pakora was quite bland and the portion was small. The Manchurian was terrible — possibly the worst I have ever eaten. It was very crispy, but otherwise bland, and in all honesty I couldn’t even tell if I was eating cauliflower with how it had been fried. The uthappam was fine, but nothing special. The accompanying chutney was watery. The sambar was not particularly flavorful. The bhatura itself was well fried and tasty, but the chana masala looked and tasted like chickpeas had been added to paneer butter masala gravy. We spoke to the owner and some of the staff about our concerns, but they didn’t seem particularly interested. The service was nothing special otherwise. So overall we are very disappointed and regret coming here for dinner tonight, and very sad to see how this restaurant has changed over the years. We will not be coming again, and would not recommend it to anyone else.

Woodlands was a disappointing experience. The food was average at best. The chutney was completely tasteless, and the sambhar looked and tasted like it had far too much artificial colouring added. For a place calling itself a South Indian restaurant, getting basics like chutney and sambhar wrong is a big miss. On top of that, the staff could really improve their attitude. A smile once in a while wouldn’t hurt. They looked more annoyed than welcoming, almost as if they were tired of the food they serve every day.

Worst place to go. They don't even know how to make samber. Samber rasam all are same. 0 taste 0 tamarind. Dahi wada - dahi was so old🤦🏻‍♀️. I will never go there ever again

What can I say about the food. It’s not at all authentic. We ordered Vadai, dosai, special uppma and channa batura. The vadai was horrible. It felt like a ball. Wasn’t soft at all. Sambar was not great and dry coconut was used for chutney. A good sambar and chutney determines how good a restaurant is. This restaurant has failed in that. If you haven’t had South Indian food for many years then you can visit this place but if you hail from a place where you get top notch Indian food please avoid this restaurant.

There was too much food color added to the sambar and chana masala; I could literally see the vegetables turning red. The key accompaniment for South Indian breakfast is chutney, but they prepared the coconut chutney using dry coconut instead of fresh coconut, which is not how it is usually made in most households. Additionally, the service was poor.
