Pumpkin cheesecake muffins in autumn are AMAZING; Best coffee made by a true artist of the craft! Luis loves and is excited by coffee in a way that inspires us to be better in everything we're passionate about. Best coffee shop in westchester new york and an amazing community. I grew up around here in the 90's and its amazing to see the town grow around this business.
My very favorite coffee shop of all time! I’m a regular and have been coming to FVC for over 6 years. The coffee and food are absolutely incredible but the reason I keep coming back is community. The owners Luis and Scarlett are always making people feel welcome by calling everyone by name, hosting events and pop ups and introducing customers to each other. I have made multiple genuine friendships with people I met in this coffee shop. It’s a great place to have coffee but the energy and community keep you coming back!
Over the last nine years plus, First Village Coffee and Luis Corena have changed Ossining and created community one great cup of coffee, pastry, and conversation at a time. A recent review called into question how a interaction between a staff member and a customer was handled. I wasn't there, but when I am at coffee shops I feel the staff has the right to ask me to alter my behavior during loud zoom interviews, whether or not signs are posted. Oh, that every coffee shop and store was as welcoming as First Village Coffee. You are welcome before you arrive!
My absolutely favorite coffee shop! A real community oriented place with such nice people and really great coffee and treats. Definitely check it out!
One of the best coffee shops in Westchester. Outstanding pastries, light bites and coffee. Love the friendly vibes and seating area in front and in the back. Wonderful local business!
In-house bakery. Felt like a real café. Cozy and friendly atmosphere. Luis (owner) passionate and very welcoming.
A must visit if you're visiting or a local and haven't been there yet! Luis and everyone there is so welcoming and friendly, you feel like family. Greeted with a smile when you walk in and they probably even remember your order! Cafe con leche, churro and cinnamon in my case. All the pastries are delicious, however the pretzel with homemade honey mustard is a must try! Get there early because they sell out quick! Enjoy.
I come here every weekend and is one of my favorite spots. The owner, Louise, is extremely friendly and makes sure to speak to all of his customers. Baristas are very welcoming and make excellent drinks. I’m always trying a new delicious baked good or drink. Highly recommend ordering one of their pies for Thanksgiving, absolutely delicious!
Really great homemade baked goods, craft lattes and coffees, and a great overall vibe inside. The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming and seems to try to get to know all of his customers. Definitely will be back!
An absolutely incredible local, welcoming, beautiful establishment. The in-house made pastries, quiche, and other foods were better than most you could find in a fine dining restaurant. The coffees were spectacular. But beyond the quality, the staff and owners are so friendly and welcoming, the vibe is communal, everyone is chatting and meeting here. It's the spot. Don't miss it.
The coffee shop of my dreams! I have traveled the world for the last decade and my favorite thing to do is find local coffee shops to experience. First Village tops them all - the community and atmosphere here makes you want to become a regular. There is a sense of true hospitality where you are remembered and welcomed like you’ve been coming for years. I have never eaten so many pastries in my life coming here multiple times a week as each item I try is better than the next. If I could give it 100 stars I would!
Love this coffee shop!! This is one of my favorite’s in the river towns. It has so many delicious drink and food options, and the staff is always so kind and welcoming! They offer three different seating areas, including an enclosed back porch, and front patio-style seating! Definitely a must-try!
I had some extra time, so I stopped in for a cup and a place to sit before my next appointment. First time here, and I was impressed! The owner, Luis and staff knew everyone coming in by name. Great music, and atmosphere. Such a warm and welcoming place. You can tell it's been a cornerstone of the community for the past 8 years. Coffee was excellent and I couldn't resist a chocolate croissant made in-house. I'll be telling my team at CertaPro Painters of Westchester NY to stop in here for sure!
Experience/Environment: Anywhere with art and a record player will automatically win me over lol. You can even purchase art they have on the walls too. Price: Normal coffee shop prices. Food: Iced coffee did the trick. Caffeine content and taste was perfect. Service: I only interacted with the girl at the register. She helped answer all my questions about the menu and was kind. Sorry! I didn’t get her name! NTT [[Next Time Try]]: Likely a pastry lol. Thank me later ;) Smile, eat, hydrate. Live honest and don’t settle. Hope to see you out there! xo
The owner is so nice! He welcomed us as if he knew us since forever. He asked and remembered our names. The staff is very nice and offered us a piece of croissant to try it! The food was delicious and they had many options, both sweet and savory. There are many tables both in the front and in a cute room in the back. Definitely one of my favorites coffee shops in Westchester County.
I love the atmosphere. The space is quite spacious. No wifi because the cafe intends their customers to interact with each other rather than treat it as a “workplace,” which I respect. It’s one of my favorite spots to go. I’d go there again if I lived closer. I ordered the pain au chocolat, and it was super crunchy outside. The coffee was just ok. If you dine in, they’ll give you cute mugs. When I was there, it was empty, then after a few minutes it was so crowded. Cute bathroom.
Such a cute little spot! It’s nestled in the small town of Ossining but the coffee and matcha latte were very delicious alongside an almond croissant and a biscuit filled with hibiscus jam. My wife and I were very fulfilled and everything hit the spot! They even had tables and chairs to sit inside and very trendy art/decor. Will visit again!
As soon I walked through the front door of this mom and pop cafe, I felt a good vibe. There was a row of environmental-friendly, hipster-types waiting on line to give their coffee orders. The front half of this cafe had a few tables set up showcasing wares for sale made by local artisans. This showed me that it cares about the economic growth of it's customers. This place gets it and understands that in order to thrive as a coffee shop, they must support the local community. I ordered a small hot coffee and a cinnamon scone. The coffee was high-quality and strong, but not Starbucks strong. The cinnamon scone was not too cinnamony or dry and made with just the right amount of flavor and moisture if I had to enjoy it without a hot beverage. There was cafe-style seating in the back, which looked inviting. It looked like the kind of place that a writer like me can disappear at and type on my laptop a Google review about all the great things that this cafe had. And just maybe others will read this review and support this business. Who knows?
The owner and the employees are fantastic. Every employee is highly trained and they clearly know well about their job and what they are doing. They are very friendly and warm. I have visited there many times with many questions about making coffee. Every one of them has been extremely patient and helpful with teaching me the techniques. By the way, I would strongly recommend their pastries (e.g. croissant). Their baker does an unbelievable job.
The pastries are baked in house and are really good. i also had a hot matcha latte and they use culinary grade matcha powder. i’ve never tried it before but it definitely does not compare to ceremonial or premium matcha. it does not have the same smooth consistency or richness. i know the main focus is not on matcha but be wary if you get a matcha latte
Yes, I’m Black—but no, this review is not about racism. This is a shared experience about miscommunication, assumptions, implicit bias, and poor customer service, and how easily a situation can escalate when empathy and clarity are missing—especially when someone is new to a space. It’s also a story about poor handling of a situation on multiple sides, including my own initial perceptions. This was my first time at First Village Coffee, and unfortunately, it turned into a very uncomfortable experience. I came in briefly before a virtual interview and asked if there was a place to sit. I was told there was seating in the back, so I checked to make sure there was space, placed my order, and sat down. I wasn’t aware of any policy about phone or video calls, and there was no visible sign or card at my table indicating such a rule. If there had been, I would have immediately left and taken my interview elsewhere. About 10 minutes into my interview, a barista approached me and asked me to turn off my call. I apologized and said I was almost done. Later, another staff memeber, the owner, Luis, came and told me I had to shut it down right away. At that point, I felt embarrassed, flustered, and confused—especially because other customers were having loud in-person conversations around me. From my perspective in the moment, it felt unfair and isolating. I want to be honest about my inner thoughts: in that moment, I wondered if race played a role. I was one of the only Black people in the café, and I felt singled out. Looking back, I recognize that this may not have been intentional racism, but rather what I’d describe as implicit bias or unconscious assumptions—combined with poor communication. Later, when I returned to speak with the manager, I finally learned about the café’s policy regarding calls. Once I understood that, the situation made more sense. However, my main issue remains: no one clearly explained the policy when they first approached me. A simple, respectful explanation would have completely changed the outcome. The conversation with the manager and owner felt defensive rather than de-escalating. When I shared that I felt the situation was handled poorly, I was told that if I didn’t like the café, I didn’t have to come back. That response felt dismissive rather than reflective. Things escalated further when I tried to take a photo while leaving and the owner knocked my phone out of my hand, which was deeply upsetting. Ultimately, this review is not about attacking the café but sharing an experience. Policies are valid, but communication and empathy matter just as much. Clear signage, transparent explanations, and calm de-escalation could have prevented this entire situation. I hope this feedback is taken not as hostility, but as an opportunity for reflection and better customer experience moving forward. Edit: This is a photo of his hand coming at me
