Ayer descubrimos Los Caracoles casi por casualidad, y fue una experiencia increíble de principio a fin. Íbamos caminando por la calle cuando nos llamó la atención lo espectacular que se veía desde las ventanas. Decidimos entrar y, aunque el restaurante requiere reserva para comer, nos abrieron la barra solo para nosotros, lo que ya nos hizo sentir bienvenidos. Aquí es donde Mari, la camarera que nos atendió, hizo que nuestra visita fuera aún más especial. Su trato fue impecable, con una amabilidad y cercanía que reflejan el alma del restaurante. Nos contó la historia de Los Caracoles, un negocio familiar que lleva cinco generaciones ofreciendo tradición y calidad. Fue fascinante escuchar cómo ha evolucionado el restaurante con el paso del tiempo, manteniendo su esencia intacta. Tuvimos la oportunidad de recorrer el restaurante y ver de cerca su impresionante cocina, con el fuego encendido y los platos preparándose con ingredientes frescos. Es un sitio con historia en cada rincón, y se nota la dedicación de quienes trabajan allí. Para hacer la experiencia aún más memorable, incluso tuvimos el placer de conocer al dueño. Definitivamente, volveremos para vivir la experiencia completa en el comedor. Si buscas un lugar con tradición, un ambiente espectacular y un trato excepcional (¡gracias, Mari!), Los Caracoles es una parada obligatoria en Barcelona. ¡Totalmente recomendado!

This restaurant is amazing. I loved the way you can see the kitchen before you arrive to the place where you sit, and the 18th centuries vibe is really nice in my opinion. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered paella with lobster and it was very delicious. The service was really good too, the waiters were really nice. Overall I loved the vibe and the service, and the food was fantastic. Funny part of the story; we came here by mistake - we were going to a different restaurant and found this one by mistake, and I am really glad we made that mistake. I reccomend this place to everyone.

Everything about this place was extremely authentic. The way you walk in the restaurant past the entire kitchen is incredible. I loved every aspect of this restaurant from the food, wine and service. The snails are a must try. The sauce is cooked with chorizo and is out of this world. I ordered the oxtail for dinner and it was by far the best oxtail I have ever had in my life. What a phenomenal experience.

15 years ago I went to this restaurant and it was very good that why I’ve returned to eat there again. I ordered a dish of sea food and it was fantastic. Fresh see food made exactly as it should be. It was a huge tray that can easily enough for 2 persons . Finished almost everything by myself. Accompanied with a white wine glass. Perfect dinner for first night in Barcelona.

Los caracoles is a Barcelona landmark not just a restaurant. At over 190 years old, this restaurant has nailed down the essence of Spanish food. Pass on the chicken, instead go for the more local fare; snails, paella, prawns. This restaurant has guests entering through the kitchen. It’s weird in a fun way. Reservations a must!

Very charming rustic restaurant, a bit of organised chaos that only add to the attraction and atmosphere. Through the bar down the steps past the open kitchen into the main restaurant. When I say main restaurant I mean a maze of smaller rooms and stairs up to balconies all with white linen tables, again which all add to this well known establishments appeal. I really enjoyed it. We didn’t have a reservation but they found us a table for three on a Friday night at about 7:30pm which was pleasantly surprising. I have heard some poor reviews of service but we had a fun waiter who joined in with the banter so we couldn’t complain about the service at all. The food was very tasty, just what I was looking for. The gammas al ajillo were delicious and I had the goat which I thoroughly enjoyed. I had the crème brûlée for afters, it was good but not as good as the other two dishes. Overall a fun experience and decent food. Would go back again

This restaurant is a must visit in Barcelona. The interior is so charming and nostalgic and when you enter you pass trough the kitchen and you can see the chefs cooking on this very old school stoves with proper fire 🔥. The highlight here is their caracoles snails dish which unfortunately I didn’t try but the second best item is their famous rotor chicken. It’s grilled of flame right outside the restaurant and it’s absolutely delicious especially the crispy skin which is well seasoned. The restaurant is usually very busy so booking is recommended.

1853........ The year this amazing restaurant opened!! The snails have been an item menu since 1926 and are amazing. More than enough to be shared. Also, the mussels are delicious. We tried the seafood paella and mixed paella with no shells. Great selection of wind. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is just as memorable. You walk through the kitchen to get to the many dining areas. Reservations are essential!!

One of the most charming restaurant in Barcelona! Almost 200 years old and you feel like you’re transported back a few decades when you’re dining in. Do make a reservation as the queue builds up within an hour of the restaurant opening. Everything we ordered was great and do get the bread! It’s really cute and crispy and goes very well with the snails. Definitely a must try when you’re in the city.

A beautiful restaurant with a fantastic interior. You enter through the bar area and make your way through the kitchen with the big pots; fire and walk past chefs and cooks to get to the tables and you will then the sheer size of the place.. We tried the roasted chicken and it was good. You do feel like you are dining in a historic place and it has a very romantic feel.

Fuimos 3 parejas a comer por la noche y la pasamos muy lindo. Para empezar, intentamos reservar online pero las condiciones no son muy buenas (20 euros de penalización por persona) así que fuimos directamente y rápidamente nos atendieron y dieron una linda mesa. El lugar es grande, no lo parece, pero abunda en mesas y ya de tarde (con menos turistas) hay muchas disponibles. En la entrada hay una barra angosta para esperar o tomar unas cañas, luego pasas directamente por dentro de la cocina y ya luego empieza un hermoso laberinto de lugares con mesas muy bien ambientado. Recomendable ir al baño para conocer la extensión del lugar! Fuera de eso fuimos muy buen atendidos, todos muy amables y simpaticos. Por momentos como el lugar estaba saturado los pedidos tardaron en llegar, pero bueno, estábamos comodos esperando. Pedimos olivas, vinos, cervezas, cargolls, croquetas, paellas, cochinillo, crema catalana, coulant de chocolate….. y en general todo muy rico!!! La experiencia es buena, creo que muy probablemente volvería aunque debo decir que los precios no son del todo accesibles. Gastamos 50 por persona, propina incluida. La experiencia en general, muy buena.

Buen sitio donde comer en el centro de Barcelona. Al estar en el centro es inevitable estar rodeado de mucho turismo, así que por lo que a mi respecta, pierde un poco la gracia de un lugar antiguo y super autentico más enfocado para la gente local, pero es lo que hay. Los precios también algo elevados. En cualquier caso, todo lo que comimos estaba bien cocinado, buen producto y todo muy bueno, atención y ambiente también a la altura.

Los Caracoles es un clásico de Barcelona con más de un siglo de historia, famoso por su cocina tradicional catalana y su ambiente único. El espacio es realmente especial: un laberinto de salones con encanto antiguo, lleno de historia y carácter. El producto es bueno, con platos bien elaborados y fieles a la tradición, aunque sin grandes sorpresas. Eso sí, los precios son altos para lo que se ofrece: se paga tanto por el nombre, la ubicación y el ambiente como por la comida. En resumen, una experiencia con encanto y buena calidad, pero algo cara para lo que realmente dan.

La relación comida-precio está bien para ser Barcelona, aunque a veces un poco escasas. El camarero muy agradable. Es un bar en el que lo frecuentan guiris, muy majete. Comimos paella para 2, gambas al ajillo, caracoles y 2 copas de vino mas agua. En total 120€

Los fines de semana, es recomendable reservar mesa, ya que suele haber mucha gente. El tiempo de espera para tomar nota de lo que quieres comer es de unos 15 minutos y otros 30 minutos más para servirte los platos. El servicio es bastante bueno.

Los Caracoles truly shines when it comes to food. The one-kilogram beef steak, cooked medium rare, was exceptional, perfectly done, full of flavour, and clearly high quality. Desserts were equally impressive, with excellent homemade ice cream and a standout cheesecake. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and full of history, making it a very enjoyable place to sit and eat. Unfortunately, the service let the experience down. We were offered bread that never arrived, yet it was added to the bill. We ordered roast potatoes as a side and received literally one potato cut in half, which was disappointing and quite bland. The vegetable side was a normal, fair portion, which made the potato serving even more surprising. We also had to ask for salt and pepper, the salt shaker arrived empty, and the peppercorn sauce for the steak was delivered around ten minutes into the main course rather than with it. For a steak of this quality and size, proper steak knives would have been expected, but the knives provided were very blunt. There were several waiters attending the table, which seemed to cause confusion, with no clear responsibility taken. While everyone was polite and apologetic, the service felt uncoordinated and far from seamless. The food itself was outstanding, but the overall experience would have been significantly better with more attentive, organised, and polished service.

We went to Los Caravoles and had a really cool experience. The snails were tasty and it was fun walking through the kitchen on the way in. I had the lobster paella – it was okay, but the rice was a bit unusual. My wife had the seafood paella and she enjoyed hers. For dessert, we shared a Catalan cream which was decent. The only downside was that we had to call the waiter ourselves, as service wasn’t very attentive. Overall, a nice place with good atmosphere and interesting food, but service could be better.

El pollo con patatas espectacular, el cabrito muy bueno. En el solomillo fallaron… frío y las verduras congeladas… aquí el servicio falló, desaparecieron y no pude reclamar. Bueno, como muchos actualmente creo que fui victima de las redes sociales , vi tantos videos y reels que recomendaban este restaurante , que decía hasta “ si viniste a Barcelona y no fuiste a los caracoles en realidad estuviste en Barcelona?” Y bueno la idea de ir a un restaurante que está funcionando desde 1835 sonaba demasiado interesante para perdérmelo , así que con muchas expectaivas hice una reserva para mi y mi familia de 9 personas , muy críticos de la buena comida por cierto . Al entrar me encantó el ambiente , la barra antigua con los licores , la madera el olor , la entrada a través de la cocina , las personas muy amables saludándonos , no hicieron pasar por el restaurante hasta llegar a nuestra mesa en el 2 do piso , pasamos por habitaciones decoradas con pinturas de óleo antiguas en las paredes y barriles de madera, precioso todo, llegamos a nuestra mesa y creo que hasta allí fue lo mejor de la noche, no teníamos asignado un mesonero, así que tuvimos que esperar a que llegara uno quien no estaba nada contento de estar allí , así que su trato fue regular para no decir que fue pésimo , aquí no hubo ni un hola ni un buenas noches ni un bienvenido , se dedicó solo a recibir de muy mala gana nuestras órdenes , cuando pedíamos explicación sobre algún platillo del menú o al menos una recomendación era como si le estuviéramos insultando , así fue toda la noche , nuestra mesa parece que quedó en un segmento del restaurante no existente , bueno estaba debajo de los baños , de los cuales hablaré luego . No presté más atención a la fatídica atención , y me concentré en la comida , pedi de entrada los caracoles pensando en que debía ser su especialidad ya que el local tenía su nombre , el jamón de “bellota” , la sopa bullabesa y para asegurar los chipirones fritos ( que pensé que eran imposibles de preparar mal) . Llegan las entradas , sopa fría , sabor nada agradable , mariscos separados del caldo? Mala!!! Los caracoles , ok , no estaban mal , sabor bien, en un caldo muy bueno , no se si los pediría de nuevo , nada especial a mi parecer y el resto de la mesa, el jamón , es jamón difícil que esté mal un jamón , pero de “bellota”? Lo pongo muy en duda , el precio si era de bellota . Los chipirones fríos , sin sabor y chiclosos , nivel restaurante turístico de baja calidad , he comido en restaurantes en la zona más turística y tienen calamares más ricos que estos , que tristeza de verdad. Ya para este momento mis expectativas estaban por el piso pero aún faltaba decepción. Vienen los platos principales , mi esposa y mi mamá pidieron un arroz bogavante , llegó frío , no se cual es la tendencia o si tienen los platos hechos todos y los sacan así , pero que desagradable nuevamente me iría a un restaurante de turistas y comería mejor, para comer el bogavante tuvimos que suplicar los instrumentos ya que no fueron suministrados al llegar el plato, nuevamente la eficiencia del mesonero dando de que hablar , cero interés en atendernos, ya para este momento nuestras caras de tragedia supongo que nadie quería venir a atendernos xq era notorio el disgusto, yo quise pedir un clásico del restaurante , el 1/2 pollo al horno , básicamente un pollo seco , salado al máximo de lo que permite el sodio , este si vino caliente al tope y con. Papas fritas frías y viejas para dar el contraste perfecto de desagradable , el resto de los platos de mi familia no los mencionaré ya que si los clásicos del restaurante estaban para ser amables , mediocres imaginen los que no son los más populares , no tomé fotos ya que la pena con mi familia por haber elegido el restaurante y hacer la reserva con semanas de anticipación era demasiada , bueno para continuar y cerrar con broche de oro oxidado , pedí la crema catalana , extra fría tipo helado y el caramelo x encima pétreo , puedes comer un mejor postre en cualquier local , en cualquiera de verdad , el resto ya ni los voy a mencionar , lamento mucho extenderme pero dije que me tomaría el tiempo para relatar mi experiencia y espero que le sirva a alguien , ah el precio 450 euros . Vinimos a este local exclusivamente para probar su famoso pollo a la brasa/asado al espetón, un plato por el que el restaurante es muy conocido. Antes de llegar llamamos por teléfono para asegurarnos de que estuviera disponible, y la señora que nos atendió nos lo confirmó sin dudar. A los diez minutos llegamos, nos sentamos y el camarero tomó nuestro pedido. Poco después volvió diciendo que el pollo se había acabado… y lo más sorprendente es que, según él, ya llevaba un buen rato agotado. Esto nos hizo pensar que por teléfono no se nos dijo toda la verdad, probablemente para no perder la reserva de nuestra mesa para cinco personas. No fue una buena manera de empezar la cena. Pedimos otros platos y, aunque estaban correctos, las raciones nos parecieron bastante pequeñas en relación con los precios, que consideramos más bien altos. El local en sí es antiguo y muy característico, un sitio realmente bonito, pero la gestión y la transparencia con el cliente deberían mejorar claramente.

The food was average at best but for those prices, it’s below average. Everything we got was somewhat bland and cold the moment it landed on the table. Also, we were given the bread but we didn’t realize the bread wasn’t free. They just gave it to us and we thought it was free. Definitely did not live up to expectations.
