Dinner at Pomme Frite was nothing short of exceptional. My partner and I shared two pounds of mussels, the nightly special rack of lamb, and the pork shank and we finished every single bite with zero regrets. Every dish was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The cocktails were outstanding, the service was warm and attentive, and the candlelit outdoor patio made the whole evening feel incredibly special. Truly a flawless dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
This restaurant was always a favorite of my step father’s. Unfortunately he passed away last year and today was his birthday. My family traveled from all over to come to this restaurant to celebrate. We had such an incredible experience. I personally had never eaten here before but wow, I can’t recommend enough! I see why my step father loved it here! We ordered the baked Bri cranberry and muscles as appetizers. The muscles were delightful but the bri plate, omg!!!! Delicious!! I ordered the filet medallions which were cooked to perfection. Literally exactly the way I asked, the medallions melt in your mouth. For desert we had the crème brule and again, just perfect. Our server was so knowledgeable and attentive to our table. The owners were incredibly sweet and accommodating of us. Thank you JC and your lovely wife for making this such a special night for our family. We are so appreciative!!!
Came here for lunch around 12:25 on Saturday during a day trip to Palm Springs with my girlfriend. We made a reservation through OpenTable, although it was not really needed since there were plenty of tables still open. There's seating inside and outside, but we decided to sit inside. We were given menus and asked about drinks shortly after, which we just did water. The ice water came in a pouring bottle and replaced quickly as we finished the first bottle. For food, the waiter explained the specials, which we went with the Soup of the Day for an appetizer. We also did six Escargot, Grilled Chicken and Penne Pasta, and a pound of Moules Frites in Garlic & Cream. The Soup of the Day and Escargot came out quick and fresh. The Soup of the Day was a Garlic Tomato soup, which was delicious. The Escargot had good flavor and cooked right; was not chewy at all. The Grilled Chicken and Penne Pasta was okay. The chicken was cooked well and was still tender and moist. The Moules Frites was cooked right as well. The Frites (Fries) were crispy and came with ketchup, mayo and spicy mayo dipping sauce. I would say it's close to par with the French cuisine I experienced during my travel. I would come back for more if I ever visit Palm Springs again.
Cute restairant, outdoor patio w heaters. Excellent friendly professional service. We were party of 5, everyone enjoyed their dishes:branzino and nz rack of lamb were fab. As was the mussel steamer and Belgium NY special. Overall priced well with adequate portions. It was an enoyable evening, will definately be back
Excellent French bistro There were 5 of us eveyone enjoyed their meal Branzino and the tender NZ lamb excellent as were mussel steamers and Brouque NY special and onion soup. Prices were right and service friendly, welcoming and professional. Will definately be back!
We had Christmas dinner here while on our honeymoon and everything was just divine. The baked brie was fantastic, as was the artichoke. For our entree, I had the Chateau stake and it was cooked perfectly, my wife had the tenderloin medallions with prawns which she loved. It was so good we are going back for brunch today. Definitely a must place to eat anytime we are in town.
Very kind and accomodating owner and staff for making a table for us on a very packed Christmas Eve when there appeared to be "no room at the inn" after there was a mixup in our reservation (our fault). Willie, our server was attentive, professional, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. We may not have ordered the most interesting items on the menu because my 2 daughters are vegetarians but, regardless, the food and wine we had were excellent. I had the Branzino and my wive had lobster bisque. Both were top notch supurb!!!. Thank you again from our hearts for accomodating us on a very crowded Christmas Eve. Pomme Frite was the perfect setting for this Wisconsin family's Christmas Eve dinner!
A beloved favorite of locals! This is my go to for date night and cherished guests who really appreciate excellent food. The menu is extensive and I’ve only scratched the surface of what I’ve tried because I keep going back for my favorites. One of the many stand outs is the stuffed (with dates?) pork chop that must of been available as a special one night because I’m not seeing it in the menu now. A friend ordered it and it was comically massive. We had it as leftovers the next day and it was still incredible. The beer selection is huge and I’ve been working my way through all the ones I’ve never seen anywhere else before. Just go and go often!
Came here last night for dinner and had a fantastic time. The service was great and the atmosphere was very laid back and fun. We were out during the market which added to the fun I believe. We had the goat cheese and beet salad which was amazing. The hanger steak and I had the special which was the Couscous Royale. Needless to say it was very good. I highly recommend!
I went with my husband late one Sunday evening this past May. We were graciously welcomed and seated in the patio at almost time of closing. We were taken care of by Willi. He was phenomenal, kind and friendly. Our cocktails were delicious, our food came out on time. Every bite was delicious. We definitely will return again and always recommend to friends if they want a lovely meal. Thank you Willi !
a MUST TRY : This is hands down the best French restaurant we have discovered in California (as a French couple) where authenticity meets with greatly cooked food for affordable prices. You can savor true French and Belgian cuisine (rack of lambs with gratin dauphinois, duck confit, carbonade, navarin etc.) perfectly matched with a selection of up to 36 Belgian beers. No other so-called French restaurants in the area even come close.
I love liver and onions, so if I go to a restaurant and it's on the menu, I order it. This was by far the BEST I have ever had. The liver was cooked to perfection and served with very tender onions and cooked apple slices. My husband had the boneless short ribs which were so tender that he didn't need a knife. The beer and wine lists are quite extensive and it's very impressive that they serve the correct glassware with each type of beer. Server, Candice, was very pleasant and attentive. We have been in Palm Springs for a week and this was our favorite meal of the entire trip.
Pomme Frite brought us right back to drinking wine from a carafe and eating mussels and a baguette in France. From the « madame et monsieur » greeting to our server from France, we loved the authenticity of Pomme Frite. We loved the beet and goat cheese salad, as well as the drunken Mediterranean mussels. We ordered an extra baguette to soak up all of the delicious sauce. We got to practice our terrible French with our gracious waitress. We sat outside and enjoyed a beautiful night in Palm Springs.
Always a great time here! The rack of lamb was OUTSTANDING! The Spanish Chorizo mussels were incredibly flavorful but still on the light side.I can't say the menu has been updated recently, and I would be happy if they never changed a thing. And finally, our server has taken care of us for years. He is French, I believe, and has a delightfully dry sense of humor.
We had a nice evening after being reseated to inside of the restaurant and away from some of their patrons talking loud fueled by beers. Honestly their food was very good, although wife didn’t particularly enjoy her entree. We liked the drunken mussels (1 lbs), the beef stew (cooked in beer), crispy salmon filet in Bernaise sauce, and the dessert trio. Definitely recommend!
The food, when it came, was very good. I ordered steak rare and it was perfect. The fries are crisp and just right. The escargot were also excellent. The staff are friendly although the owner seems a bit gruff. The problem was that it took almost 40 minutes between our appetizer and main course. I had to ask for water twice before I got it. And this was a Thursday night and it wasn’t full. If the staff organization could be better this place would be 5 stars.
We had a lovely dinner experience for 4 (plus baby) at Pomme Frite. The French onion soup was delightful: full of flavor and the perfect amount of cheese. We appreciated the choices of French wines and had an excellent rose and Bordeaux. The entrees seemed appropriately priced for portion sizes, but didn’t wow us from a taste perspective. The French fries were a perfect distraction for our 8 month old and were wonderfully crispy. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would recommend to give them a try!
This place could be so much better with different organizational skills! There's a sign to wait to be seated. An old man, who is a host, gave us a booth right away. He spoke a few words on French. However, when I replied to him "Merci beaucoup", he had no idea what it was. So, he learned a few words on French language to make it feel like he is French. We sat for ages before anyone even acknowledged us, and when our server finally arrived, they seemed annoyed to be there and kinda rude. He's Dutch called Vilma, and he took our drinks first and REFUSED to take our meal order when we let him know that we were ready. Twenty minutes later, he came back to take our food order. Even though we were ready to place an order right away with our drinks, he postponed it and made wait us extra 20 mins. After we placed our food order, it took 15+ mins for bread with butter to come. After that more than an hour wait for the food to arrive. It's a shame because the atmosphere had potential, but the poorest service really brought the experience down. The food was decent, but not worth the wait. Personally, I'd never ever return to this place even to try my favorite dish such as Duck. My suggestion would be EAT BEFORE YOU GO OUT TO POMME FRITE. SUPER-DUPER SLOW SERVICE IS HERE. ‼️BE READY TO WAIT 2+ HOURS FOR YOUR MEAL‼️
The Valentine dinner here was very disappointing! $85 per person for a set three-course menu. After the appetizer, we waited for more than one hour for the entrees. Then another long time for the desert. A lot of customers waited even longer. We remained patient but some people started to get upset about the delay. People may have other arrangements after dinner and if it takes 2~3 hours to get your food, it would be a horrible experience. As for the quality of the food, the deserts are excellent. However, most of the seafood dishes let us down. The sea bass tastes a bit too fishy and greasy. The clam & mussel is not tasting good either. Duck is OK. Overall, very disappointing valentine dining experience. Hope they do better next year
Apparently the bar is low for all those “four star” reviews. Had high hopes but they were quickly dashed when the grid owner/host greeted us with a pedestrian bon soir. Maybe this is why the wait staff and bus man alike seem basically miserable. Frogs legs were fine served with 4 dinky slices of baguette. When we asked for a few more slices of bread, a upcharge. Then they try to swindle you out of a $10 up charge to share a meal. When we differed with the waiter, they got indignant and went to the (obviously) Belgian owner. She came back an he obviously told the waiter they would have to pay it for miscommunication of the sharing charge. I can’t recall going any restaurant where the owner treated you like you should feel lucky to be eating in his mediocre establishment. The Moroccan entree with cous cous and merguez lamb sausage were fairly bland. I think most of the patrician PS crowd deserve better.
Our experience last night was horrible, but the main reason I am leaving a one-star review is because my friend got food poisoning. We were there last night for their Valentine’s Day special pre-fixed menu and she got food poisoning from the short ribs dish (we both got the escargot, she ordered short ribs and I ordered the duck, and she ordered chocolate mousse but received creme brûlée and I ordered the tiramisu.) I’m very thankful that I did not get food poisoning, but the duck that I did order was dry and tasted more like orange chicken and fries. Additionally, it took 3 hours for us to get our food, we were seated outside in February and the heat lamp was out of gas so we were freezing, and they were running out of the dishes that we had ordered (had to order a dessert due to the pre-fixed menu structure, and then they ran out of the only dessert my friend was interested in - the chocolate mousse.) Our waiter, Daniel, was truly excellent in service even as the restaurant was crowded and chaotic (makes sense for a Saturday-Valentine’s Day over a 3-day weekend, but this felt egregious). I had loved my previous experience a few years ago when I ordered the filet mignon medallions, but +$200 for this experience makes this so bad that I’ll never return.
The food was fine, but the service felt like dining inside an EU administrative office in Brussels—lots of rules, zero flexibility, and no warmth. Our server refused to split the check across multiple credit cards, only brought water despite being asked multiple times, and treated basic requests like violations of policy. I love Belgian beer, waffles, and efficiency—but hospitality shouldn’t feel like paperwork. If you value rigid procedure over customer experience, this place may be for you. Otherwise, prepare to leave thirsty and frustrated.
Please be extremely careful, as the owner charges extra for hot water used for herbal tea ($12) and $14.95 for meatballs, which should only cost $6. We were told that the meatball surcharge applied only to the kids’ meals rather than the steak set, which was not made clear or communicated upfront. I recommend double-checking the bill. The bill was taken away before we had a chance to confirm the total, and we paid in cash. As a result, we overpaid by $20 ($200 − $126 = $74, yet we only received $53 in change). This was a very disappointing experience, and I would recommend sharpening basic math skills before visiting this restaurant.
