Ragù cucina italiana

We have eaten here several times and we love it! This is authentic, home-cooked Italian food, and it is DELICIOUS. The specials rotate, always featuring Italian dishes that aren’t widely found at restaurants here in the States. We have been able to taste many new things as a result! The service is excellent. They are attentive and very friendly, adding to a well-rounded Italian experience. This has become our favorite date night spot. The atmosphere is lightly romantic and always inspires great conversation between myself and my husband. We never say no to the cannoli!

Wow wow wow! This place was the most authentic Italian food I’ve had. My SECOND favorite is Naplé in Sarasota. This restaurant had it all and for a great price. It was so amazing, a true gem. I had the lasagne special with sausage, broccoli, and a cream sauce. My husband got the linguine special with shrimp, muscles, and asparagus. My mom got the veal that had the mushroom cream sauce on the menu. Everything was so Flippin good.. I was planning on going on a diet next week, but I think I’m gonna have to continue to cheat just to go back to this place!! My word… the only thing that was not fantastic was the tiramisu which I did not get a picture of. It wasn’t very cake soaked with espresso. It had a lot of cream. Regardless it was good, but I would not get that again.

For the second time, my family and I had an absolutely perfect dinner at Ragu Cucina Italiana. We made a reservation for 9, and we were immediately seated as soon as we arrived. Warm crunchy bread was promptly served as our orders got taken. Various antipasti & hot entrees arrived with perfect temperature and timing, and were amazingly tasty and fresh. Service was top notch. I will come back many times. Bringing even more people!

Update... Been coming here for 2 years now and this place is still amazing, from the food, to the owners, the ambience, all of it, fantastic experience; authentic Italian owners Gianmarco & his brother knocked it out of the park! 1st time here, loved it, nice ambience, has a nice romantic flair, owners are Italian and the food is authentic and priced fairly. You can reserve via Google and it was seamless. Una Bella culinary Italiana 😉✌🏽

I have been wanting to come to this restaurant since it opened. My husband and I finally got a night out by ourselves so we went for dinner. We had the Panzanella for an appetizer. Then for dinner, I had linguine pesto de pistachio gambrei (pesto with shrimp and pistachios). My husband had chicken Alfredo. The pasta is also homemade! For dessert we had mini cannolis and tiramisu . It was absolutely delicious! The staff and service was amazing. The restaurant has a very cozy feeling and makes you feel like you’re in Italy. Definitely a must go to!! We will be back again soon!

A little peace of Italy that can bring you a huge experience. A place for those who love's really family and good Italian food. Great ragu, delicious Parmesan veal, lasagna, and many others. My husband and I finally tried this Palmetto gem! The wine, the bread, the food and cheesecake were spectacular. I am so happy that made the visit and we will be back!

Unexpectedly delightful dinner at Ragu. We were driving around after Halloween crawl, and decided to stop for a bite. Such as amazing service, and the food was delicious. We had the carpaccio for starters, then 2 special entrees - the Pumpkin Fettuccine and White Lasagna. Absolutely wonderful. You have to try it before it goes away!

How to do not give 5 stars? This place is wondeful! Excelente authentic Italian food by Italian chef and owners. The bread is out of this world. Best lasagna ever! Everything is terrific!

Wonderful meal. The food was just prepared to perfection. The lasagna was out of this world so was the carbonara. The pasta was fresh and made in-house. I had a meatball appetizer where the meatballs are fried and then covered in their house made carbonara with fresh parmigiana cheese on top. The deserts were also very good.

What an awesome way to celebrate my 50th birthday! Andreas out server was attentive and welcoming. The decor was comfortable and classy and the food was phenomenal. We cannot wait to go back. ❤️

It is hard to find a good place deserving 5 stars but this one definitely deserves. We tried carbonara, ragú, linguini with pesto pistachio and shrimp and carpaccio, everything was delicious. Fresh baked Bread 🥖 and great service

Excellent service, we were having a hard time finding a good Italian restaurant in the area and came across this one on a random night we craved some pasta. The environment is super cozy and calm. The service is incredible everyone took care of us always making sure we were alright. The portions are perfect and everything tastes fresh and well made. The bread they serve is also homemade and it’s AMAZING. Definitely will be returning and making this our new date night spot.

AMAZING! Family owned and I love it! Absolutely adorable inside, super clean, friendly, fast and delicious. We just flew in from DFW to celebrate my 50th and made the best decision stopping in and having some amazing comfort food on our way to the beach. Super blessed to have found Ragu culinary Italians!

Came here for a close friends birthday. Amazing service! Stefano attended us and was incredible. Food 5 stars. Soft delicious bread. I recommend the pasta carbonara. I also really recommend the focaccia. SO good.

Wow. The food here is exceptional. Authentic Italian dishes with great service and ambiance. Prices were great for the high quality of ingredients. Veal with mushrooms, Alfredo, white flatbread all great choices. Looking forward to bringing others to this gem of a spot

Owned by 3 Italian brothers that immigrated here from Italy, this food is authentic as it gets! It’s hard to find true “hole in the wall” gems in Bradenton/Sarasota but this is one of them. I highly recommend if you’re looking for great authentic Italian with a great environment! I had the Veal Scaloppine ai funghi porcini. Excellent!

Had a great meal. 6 of us and everyone got something different. They had amazing sauces. I had the pistachio sauce that blew my socks off. Service was excellent with a waiter and a helper to keep things moving. Pricing good too. Just watch out when pulling in to the lot or you can bottom out a slight bit.

Tried this wonderful little restaurant tonight. It was excellent from start to finish. We had Pistachio Pesto Pasta and the Veal and mushroom dish was to die for The tiramusu was sooo good! The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Looking forward to going back

Went here for dinner while visiting family. Our servers were very nice, attentive, and created a feeling of belonging for the evening. We had a phenomenal time talking and enjoying our time over appetizers, pasta, and dessert. They had multiple wine options and we found a delicious Chianti for the table. We’ve already planned our return visit!

What a treasure! The food was outstanding. I had the special, sea bass and pesto risotto. Great wine selection and service. Next time I'm in Palmetto - I look forward to another wonderful meal at Ragu.

What an amazing experience here on Christmas Day! My wife and I Watched the sunset at Anna Maria Island before going to St Pete Pier, well on the way there, out bellies were all rumbling and at 7 pm everything looked closed. We spotted this little gem only because the parking lot was full. When we made our way inside we were asked if we had a reservation. At that point I was expecting to be turned away seeing how busy they were. They were so kind to seat us without a reservation. The food was amazing, the staff was very com native. Top notch Italian hospitality at it's finest! And to the random unknown patron who paid our bill, Thank you and Merry Christmas. Best wishes to you and your family.

Absolutely loved every part of our dinner! The food was delicious and the service and atmosphere was just as great! I can’t wait to come back! We live in St Pete and will make the quick drive for Italian! It beats every Italian spot around us. We got the Caesar salad, homemade cannelloni special, carbonara, and the linguini pesto pistachio shrimp dishes. Can’t wait to try other dishes!

Had a fantastic authentic Italian meal. The service was impeccable, enjoyed the eggplant app and the pesto linguine with shrimp was outstanding. Nice atmosphere, white table clothes...just an overall enjoyable dining experience...will certainly return!

Excellent - Wonderful - Authentic and Delicious. Not only some of the best Italian food I've had, some of the best food I've ever had period. Everything we tried was amazing from the appetizer to the veal to the coffee and tiramisu. Truly delicious and authentic Italian flavors cooked with love. Absolutely AMAZING Italian food. The owner was really nice and told us they were from Rome and it shows in their food. We got the lasagna and octopus. The lasagna is the best we've ever had. Even the bread was so fresh and tasty. We did pick up but when we went in, it was like a cozy little house. Very nice atmosphere, very cute. We can't recommend enough.

Took mom here for her birthday with the family, and we had a great time. Service, the food was very good. Mom wanted lasagna since it's her favorite, and it did not disappoint. So good! Will be back again!

I was looking for a nice quiet place to eat dinner. I came up on this restaurant it was perfect. The atmosphere is very nice and elegant. The food was good over all. If you're looking for homestyle Italian food and wine this is a great place to dine. Reasonable prices for some good Italian food.

The restaurant is cute and clean. The staff were friendly and nice. The bread was good and soft. The eggplant appeitzer was just ok. It had a pasty, flour like taste to it. The fettuccine was not great. Very very garlicky. So much garlic it was practicaly not edible. (I do love garlic, but this was too much). The chicken parm was just ok as well. The pricing was very high considering the flavor of the food. I would parallel the food to that if Olive Garden, only Olive Garden does a better job with the falvoring. I am Italian so I know good Italian, this was not it for me. The Canoli plate was good. No complaints there. I would encourage the owners to take customer feedback to heart. I want to see this place succeed. The foundation is there. It just needs some modification. (Also found it odd that the menus were papers clipped to clipboards. The prices are too high for that quality menu)

A delightful experience as we walked in. The old house turned into a nice restaurant with a definite old Italian ambience. The menu was not overbearing with choices, but the ones offered sound very original and priced, maybe on the high side. My DC ( dining companion) and I chose different entries- she a dish of linguine with a very tasteful bolinaiize sauce. I ordered the special ; lasagna with sausage and mushrooms. Disappointment! Thought it was a little dry even with the cheese sauce. Almost no sausage or mushrooms. The appetizer we had was very good, a ...focaccia bread with a a very nice sauce mossarella cheese and a thin slice of meat. Very good. Although at $25.00 it might be considered a little pricey. Overall as a first timer we agreed it might be worth another trip. However, with so many choices we might look elsewhere

Our dinners came out cold, returned warmer and was very good. Service was Very Good. Our waiter explained the specials to us and did not hover over us. (suggestion: servers should address customers as ladies and gentlemen, NOT HI GUYS. With WHITE table cloths and the menu PRICE POINT, up grade your verbage). This is not a bar & grill!!! Ambiance is EXTREMELY INVITING, COMFORTABLE and You're able to speak softly and hear each other. Will return soon. Frank Davis

Spent Valentine's dinner there and first let me say the atmosphere was wonderful and the service polite and attentive. We had a bruschetta with mozzarella for an appetizer which was very good along with the bread. The glass of wine for $13.00 was a bit on the high side and not even a half a glass. For the main course we had Lasagna Ragu bolognese. I will say it was bland and not much flavor. Expected more meat in the sauce and have had better. For the price of the dinner it was disappointing but if you like atmosphere and good service alone then try it.

I like to give 5 star reviews. I like new restaurants. Bradenton / Palmetto desperately needs more places. Unfortunately: Pizza absolutely sub-standard. Undercooked. Way undercooked. Really bad. I know what I am talking about, I have a pizza oven in my backyard, just not efficient for a quick hunger. Meatballs pretty much ok, however: This is one portion! Check the menu and decide yourself. Photos are uploaded. Sorry! No, I guess we are not coming back and I am actively doubting the reviews.

Disappointing Experience—Wouldn’t Recommend Unfortunately, Ragu’s cucina italiana was a letdown across the board. I’ll start with the one positive: the pizza was crisp and fully cooked, which, surprisingly, isn’t as common as it should be. Beyond that, everything else was a disappointment. The chicken parm was dry and uninspired. Their so-called Greek salad barely resembled one—and worse, they didn’t even have a proper Greek dressing. The pasta dishes were bland, with the carbonara being particularly unimpressive. The biggest offense, though, was the Linguine Pesto di Pistacchio e Gamberi—an overwhelming dirty-shrimp-water taste dominated the dish, which is ironic considering the actual shrimp in it was practically nonexistent. But beyond the food, the service was just strange. Our waiter, Gabrielle, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Honestly, he deserves to work somewhere better. The rest of the staff, however, was rude, disorganized, and oddly intrusive. They seemed confused by basic menu questions, and for some reason, multiple employees kept checking on us in the middle of Gabrielle taking our order, even interrupting him while he listed the specials. It was bizarre and disruptive. And then there’s the price—which is absurd for what you get. At this price point, I expect either generous portions or outstanding food, and Ragu’s offers neither. Bottom line? Skip it. The food is underwhelming, the service (aside from Gabrielle) is frustrating, and it’s simply not worth the price.
