Our group has conducted several Golf Tournaments at Brookside - the staff is always very accommodating (and some needed a few reminders).... we had breakfast and lunch in the restaurant - note: the avocado toast was the best! ( Not available that day for lunch...) The dinner/buffet and Annual Tournament was a big success. A pleasure doing business...

Went for a drive in the area. We didn't actually stop in but from what we were able to admire it looks like it is a great place to golf. It was well groomed and the environment was pleasing. The views were great and a pleasant surprise to have when golfing or enjoying a visit to the Country Club.

OH WOW!!! What happened to this golf course?!?! Under new management perhaps? I don't know exactly what happened or if it was just this past Saturday but the course conditions improved greatly. Most importantly, our pace of play was AMAZING!!! My 3 buddies and i were able to finish the round in less than 5 hours on Saturday morning at 10:30 am! Crazy i know! To top it all off, they upgraded their golf carts with comfortable seats and GPS! The bar/restaurant is probably one of the best out of all the public golf courses. There's always this little grill outside by the 1st tee box on Course #1 where they have the most amazing cheeseburgers and hotdogs! I always see the same very nice Hispanic gentleman who always seems to be loving his job and is always so very wonderful! Not to mention he grills the meanest cheeseburgers and hotdogs! Solid 4 stars but added a star for the Hispanic gentleman at the grill by the 1st tee box of Course 1! Keep up the good work Brookside!

Very nice course. My first golfing experience was enjoyable at Brookside and the staff was very helpful. The mobile snack ladies are on their job and make sure you never get hungry or thirsty. 😁

Love golfing here. But this time there was very good entertainment in the clubhouse that was outstanding. This guy did a great tribute to Frank Sinatra that Frank Sinatra would be jealous of. Wow! It made us stay till closing so we ordered more food and drinks.

Great Value, played #2 course. Definitely on the shorter side but impressed with how greens rolled

Brookside is one of the Los Angeles areas "hidden gems". If you've ever been to the Rose Bowl, you know its there but you don't really know about it until you go there. . .right next door. Brookside is the Golf & Country Club adjacent to the Rose Bowl and is one of the premiere places in Pasadena to either play golf or to host an event. The staff there is AMAZING and very accommodating regardless of whether you are there for golf or an event. I've even witnessed the staff "handle" less than savory or wanted people with great grace and elegance leaving the person (or people) with their dignity. I highly recommend Brookside for any event that you are hosting as the food is wonderful and the staff is even moreso. Come to Pasadena to experience this beautiful jewel of a Golf & Country Club. Great track. They offer two pretty tough courses on the property. Play them both.

I had the pleasure of playing Course #1 for my first time and it was probably in the best condition due to zero UCLA tailgates / overflow parking this year (miss that part too though). The course was very green! The greens were beginner / medium speeds and were a blast! We played from the back tees and at around 7100 yards, it didn’t seem that long. The round only took 4.5 hours on a Sunday too which to me seemed terrific! Definitely will be back before next football season! Thank you Brookside Crew! Keep up the great work!

I love this place. Two great courses. Course 1 is longer and fun for crushing the ball and course two is tighter and more challenging, makes you have to think about your next shot more. Also food is pretty good afterwards as well

This beautiful course is fun to play, challenging, and said in the most serene and beautiful environment. There's nothing like spending a day walking around America's stadium and reliving the history of all the Rose bowls. The staff is friendly, the grounds are kept, and it's amazing that they maintaining such a beautiful experience.

Two amazing golf courses, located in a sublime setting. A lot of history, always in excellent condition, and a real challenge for any skill-level golfer. Best public golf courses, for the value and experience, in LA County

Great flat course to walk. Course #1 is longer than #2 but I feel it’s wider if you have trouble with your tee shots so it kinda helps with having a decent second shot. Overall great course to enjoy with your buddies!

Really great golf course. Once the greens heal up it’ll be in excellent condition. I’ve always loved brookside just hate the drive to get there. It’s a players course meaning you have to be in correct positions .

I was recently hired as a coordinator for a couple’s wedding here and I have to say the service was top notch! Not only did the wedding turn out beautiful at their venue, but Vanessa and her team went above and beyond to ensure that the couple had the best day. I would 100% recommend having an event here- truly some of the best event staff you could have!

We had breakfast here because we attended an event and they have a good selection for heavy breakfast if you want to fuel your day. My favorite was the oatmeal because it was well cooked and had bananas and blueberries. They also offer Mexican inspired breakfast as well. The staff were also very nice and would love to come back

I recently attended the Chappell Roan Concert at this venue. I was surprised by the venue's size. It felt more like a concert festival grounds, all for one artist. That being said my one complaint was the transit and parking options. I parked at a garage that was a free shuttle ride away. While the way to the venue was smooth and quick, the wait after the concert was painfully long. The queue wrapped pretty far, and I was in line for nearly an hour. If you can avoid the parking struggles you should!

Beautiful outdoor venue!!! I visited Brookside to see Chappell Roan, and it was more beautiful than I could’ve imagined. At first, I was skeptical of attending a concert at a golf course, and I didn’t have any idea of what the layout would be like. I was extremely surprised when I arrived! The parking situation was well organized, the event managers were friendly and helpful, and the course itself was great! There were multiple concession stands, food areas, bathrooms, vendors, and photo ops. The stage was huge, and the field accommodated thousands of people pretty comfortably. The audio and video team did an amazing job with the music and lighting. Will definitely be attending another event here if given the chance! 😼

Really enjoyed my round at Brookside on a Sunday afternoon. Rental clubs were brand new set of Taylormade Qi10s. Greens were in great shape and fast. Playing beside the Rose Bowl and the San Gabriel mountains was a special treat. Pro Shop and clubhouse were very nice. Bring sunscreen and even an umbrella if you’re walking as the sun is really strong in the summer.

This is not a golf review! We attend an event here yearly, and I just had to say how nice the place is. I am very excited each and every year to come into the clubhouse and relax in the AC! It's always clean and staffed appropriately. Thanks, Brookside, for being such great hosts to our day of darkness! Cheers

I have been coming to Brookside for over 20 years. There are two courses to choose from, and each offers it's own unique level of difficulty. The golf carts have built in GPS showing you the layout of the hole, and distance to the pin. The cart's software prevents you from going onto the areas approaching the green (approximately 100 yards in). The grounds a well kept, and you definitely feel the serenity of the landscape while playing. There's a large driving range and two practice putting greens. Even just coming for a day of practice at the range is an experience. The pro shop has a lot of great options from gear, balls, and clothing. Lastly, the restaurant is A-Class for this being a public course. The food is great, and the staff here are always pleasant. Negatives: the golf cart will come to an immediate halt when coming close to the putting greens (so stay on the cart path), and the parking close to the course gets full quick unless you have a mega early tee time (be prepared to come an extra 5 minutes earlier to walk from the overflow lot). Driving range prices as of 2022: Sm, $7; Med, $12; Lg, $15.

Great golf course, it is always a great tome to play here. The earlier the better because it tends to get really busy after 7 or 8am. The greens are pretty fast and fun for sure. Great variety of difficulties and a very friendly staff. I definitely recommend this golf course if you like exploring new courses or even to make it a regular course to play.

Had late lunch around 1:30. Service was good. Food was above average. Price was reasonable given quality and quantity of food and the relaxed atmosphere. Their 4 to 8 pm happy hour is what I'll be trying next.

S

The greens are in good shape rolling 10.5. The tees and fairways are soggy and standing water in many fairways. The cart lady came by a few times and that is good. The burger in the restaurant is a beast great and tasty 2 plus hands required.

J

Either course is fun (North preferred), and in a great setting in the Arroyo. The legendary Rose Bowl is always a great sight when waiting to hit. Usually a pretty easy walk-on as a single or twosome during the week, but beware the weekends. Concerts, Flea Market, and of course you cannot play when UCLA football is playing a home game. Both courses serve as the parking lot. However, the groundskeeping crew does an amazing job making sure that the course doesn't get jacked up during that time. Enjoy!

m
mike choi

I go to practice my shots. Nice location and easy to access. There are no range markers at the driving range, but it’s good place to practice shots if you can find a spot. Weekend can get pretty busy.

j
james ahn

Only had positive experiences at this course. The fairways are somewhat narrow and the greens are small, but that forces you to be more precise.. Driving range is fairly busy, and on weekends can get pretty packed.. best to get those early tee times to beat the late morning rounders on the weekend

A
Aviva Ebner

Nice venue for outdoor festivals. Plenty of restrooms. Large enough for 3 stages. In May, it is very warm during the day, but can be windy and chilly once the sun goes down.

Y

If you can get a tee time, the course is fun to walk. It was a bit expensive for public walking, but the pace of play is normally good for the early morning tee times.

R
Richard Chacon

Fantastic day at Brookside. Although some fairways had water and two holes were CP only, the course was in great shape. Although punched last week, greens still had sand. Two 18’s here and it was a full house. Finished in 4.5 and we were the slow group 🙄

P
Patrick K

We sat out on the patio but there is also a large area for indoor seating and a bar. I had a tuna melt and fries, both of which were excellent. Several of us had Arnold Palmer's to drink. As you may know they vary quite a bit in quality. These were excellent. With a nice view out over the golf course and nice weather we had a wonderful time. Recommended.

f
fernando ramirez

we had visited for a recent music festival and was pretty surprised that this was actually a golf course. the grass was not that nicely maintained and the same went for the sand traps and paths where people walk through. be prepared for a hefty fee for the nearby parking which also can be difficult because it's the rose bowl so that is expected.

R
Ronald Singerman

Play twice a week here most weeks. Courses are consistently in good shape. Employees friendly.Tee offs always on time. Time to play consistently around 4 hours. Restaurant good.Servers competent and friendly. No complaints.

J

Fun course mostly based on location, very cool views. We played Nay. While pretty short and tight, the biggest challenge seemed to be many severe back to front sloping greens. We each had a few holes where we ended up above the hole and after barely touching the ball it went 6-10 feet past if not off the green. Nice rental clubs, used qi10s. Next time I'd like to try Koiner as that is supposed to be the better course. But an outing was going on.

S
Sonia Jovel Popa

We visit every year to celebrate 4th of July with the family to barbeque, play games and have a good time watching the Rose Bowl fireworks after their event. It's a lot of fun and we get chance to see all the family that wants to attend. We bring a soccer ball, board games and/or volleyball at up to pass the time. It's as great place. We also bring our gas barbeque.

R
Robert Aguilar

It's a place where you can go walking around jogging around or biking around. And it's beautiful. Not to many people on a weekday.

S
Steven Fei

Brookside is one of my closest home course I visit to play with my pals 10-12 times a year. It offers some skills to really compete and come up with a decent round. The length of Koiner and tight fairways of O Nay always brings a challenge to any skill level

A little beat up, but halfway decent. Need to charge about $10 less.

Flat and straightforward public course at a convenient location. Quality of the grass on the fairway was acceptable, although a few beer bottle cans were observed. On a Thursday morning it was already very busy with 8am tee off time getting delayed by 10mins or so.

This review is based off of an average amateur golfer. We were here for a tournament and unfortunately it was raining for half the holes, but as it got dryer and hotter, it became a solid golfing course. My first time here and I’ve heard about this spot from friends, it’s not too difficult but not too easy. I thought it was a good mix of par 3’s & 4’s. I just wish there was more cart services for food and beverages on the course, but still solid. Overall I thought it was an excellent course and the greens were well kept. There was also an awesome food/dining service area and a solid golf shop. I would definitely come back again, I highly recommend it and I can’t wait to try it on a full summer day.

Erica Fung
Erica Fung

This is a very busy golf course in the 626 area. Compare to other courses, Brookside is a pretty long and challenging course that requires good course management skills. Even par for the ladies is 75. The lady at the starter was very friendly and nice that she gave me some pointers of this course as this was my first time playing here. Unfortunately, I played here on a rainy day, and it was freezing. I would love to come by on a good day, and play again. Plenty of parkings are available, but it could be far from the club house. Carrying your golf bag on a hot summer day might be an issue.

Sam Baik
Sam Baik

two course. range is cool. two putting areas. they have a chipping area which is big but kinda underkept... but its free so i ain't complaining. parking can be difficult but it's the rose bowl so it's expected. course goes back and forth in terms of being in good shape but they have some great deals here and there. one of my golf spots. thx

Beat down fairway and baren grounds everywhere. 50% of fairway landing drives landed in a divot. #1 Course was challenging unlike #2. Bunkers were horrible. No sand. Staff are good. Typical city course these days although some other nearby courses r better than this. Good for cheap and quick round.

M
Martin Choi

I can safely say that this is my home course, I played here at least a couple of hundred times. In the last years though I stopped coming as often, since the pace of play was becoming ridiculously slow. I decided to give it a try yesterday and I was gladly surprised that the pace was way much better that what I remembered. Finish the round in 4:30 hr, which for a Saturday (10:30 a.m.) is pretty good. Seems like they are doing a good job now, timing the pace by flagging carts in specific gaps. Hope the keep it up.

I
Ismael Perez

This course gets used as parking for the Rose Bowl. We played a few days after the LAFC v Galaxy match on July 4th. There was still broken glass, bottle caps, charcoal, and vomit throughout most of the course. The confetti wasn't offensive, and made us laugh. Half of this course is nice, and the other half is absolute trash. I'll never play here again. Staff is great though! They probably understand how awful the conditions get, so they make up for it with kindness.

E
Evelyn Javelosa

Enjoyed the venue as a festival "space," but more shade and clearly marked water stations are necessary. Still, it was nice and green, with a cool fountain in the center. We got there early and we were able to get a picnic table in the shade for part of the day. With so many people present for a music festival, it got super dusty. But, the portapotties were pretty clean. The pluses and the minuses cancel each other out.

K
Kayley Yi

After all the rain that we had the Fairway was very green but there was a lot of weed, and on the green I don't know what it was either fertilizer or seedings there was a sticky Gray stuff all over the green in every hole it got on my ball every time I have to clean my ball and it was very hard to clean it off and my putter I had to give it a bath when I got home. But overall pace was very good. We fairly good rounding.

S
Steve LaRochelle

The course has always been fun to me but the way they have the golf carts set up is over the top and is very much a negative. They have them set so they get locked and beep if you are within not 30 feet but 30-40 yards from the green...it's very annoying and many golfers feel the same way. Lighten up on the stupid carts!

I
Irene Leung

Yesterday, I went to meet my former bosses at Brookside Restaurant. I ordered a tuna sandwich. I didn't like my tuna sandwich. The tuna was burnt. The tuna sandwich is on a half of a roll and it left a bad taste in my mouth. The salad was ok. I thought it was expensive for $10 or $10.50, I don't remember. I have had better tuna sandwiches elsewhere. Parking was terrible yesterday. There wasn't a single space close to the restaurant or street parking. There must of been a golfing event. Golf carts were all over the sidewalk while walking to the restaurant. Staff was nice and courteous. The only thing I liked was I saw my former bosses and co-workers. I have been to the Brookside for other occasions and food at that time was much better.

D
David Rickett

Restaurant is unreliable if you're trying to have lunch before your tee time -- they cater to a different crowd but at least they stay open later than other places. Courses are good when they aren't parking cars on it for the Rose Bowl. Many times the are delays at the starter windows or getting a fresh cart. It would be better if there were more stalls on the driving range.

r
ryan kreger

Nice area for a festival. Getting across the drainage channel a disaster after the event ends, only two ways across to the parking on the other side.

Matt Torres
Matt Torres

Gotta give 3 stars because of the awful conditions on the front 9 at Nay vs the price point. It would be a nice course otherwise. Shout out to Amanda at the turn who had great vibes on Sunday. I would suggest lowering the price if you’re going to continue using the course as a parking lot, too. The back 9 was awesome, and had a great time there. No notes. Super nice golf carts, great staff and clubhouse/pro shop.

LaaL
LaaL

Meh. Lots of rocks and dirt. Brookside likes to moonlight as a concert venue/ parking lot and that doesn’t bode well for golf. I would give it 2 stars but the fact that they let you play a back 12….well that’s pretty nice.

J
Jeff Hart

Terrible conditions fairways hard pan. Only good thing was greens in great shape. Allowing vehicles to park on the golf course has ruined the fairways.

H
Heriberto Bocanegra

Went to get a drink while walking at the rose bowl. Big mistake. Too busy for the staff on hand to take care of properly. Waited for my drinks and watched others waiting for their food. You know it's a beautiful Sunday during March madness staff appropriately. Wont be going back too bad cause I think it's a a good location for a bite and or drinks while walking around the rose bowl.

S
Sharly Choi

Worst course I have ever seen. No grass on some of the fairways. Course is poorly maintained. Unlikely to play there again.

N
Nicholas

They should have posted that driving range and practice greens are closed..what a b.s...also the green s were a joke..dimples are so big and hardly any sand..they just want your hard earned money..don't give a shit how the conditions are..what a way to conduct a business..pathetic..

a
alan royse

There's public roads along this golf course and the fences are only about 6 feet tall. I was driving when someone from the tee box completely missed the fairway but hit my windshield dead on. Other golf courses have nets or taller fences, tree line to stop this

r
ryan myers

By far the worst course conditions I've seen at this price disgraceful. Worst fairways than van nuys executive course. Never going back there for round

S
Shizuko Takayasu

The sea bass was overcooked but edible and our chicken was even more overcooked that it was dry and unedible. Only good cooked items were fingerling potatoes and grilled veggies. The best was chopped salad. For a meal costing $125+ you would want better than cafeteria food.

E
Eddie Estrada

If you are looking for a golf membership and your main reason is the driving range this place is NOT ideal. I’ve had this membership for several months and had to cancel due to the lack of consistency the range is open. It was always a gamble if their ball machine was working, tractor, or had enough employees. Always a different reason. I would call ahead, get a yes the range is open, only for it to be closed as I get there. It is also very small, during peak hours you have to wait a while for a booth.

l
lukestone365

Obviously people who live there, have done very well for themselves, nothing wrong with that. Never got into golf, does look like a great place to golf? Just make sure to save your money! All anyone can ask is to treat the staff kindly, great people! From what I noticed, just at the restaurant, Management is different, they'll brown nose the customer & if needed later lash out at the employee. If something happens that can be quickly swept under the rug, which I'm guessing will probably happen again? I'm guessing management will lie through their teeth to cover themselves? Might want to check with Evan? My understanding is he doesn't take accountability & will do the best to suit his own agenda. Looks like a punk kid that had everything handed to him in life, & thinks he's better than everyone.

S
Sung Jake Lee

This course is so bad. I don't know why they are still open to the public. They are better to close and reopen when they are ready

J
Jack Brettell

Would give zero stars if I could. Horrible conditions, horrible service. Was actually shoved and yelled at by another player from the neighboring fairway while putting. Called the clubhouse to complain, called the GM - nobody cared. You get what you pay for here across the board.

M
Minkoo Whang

It was really great course before. However after they start to take all kind of concerts and games, the course became terrible condition because the fairway got used as parking lot!!!!!. That is ridiculous decision someone who operates tha course. Players membership is useless because the driving range closed so many times due to the concert and games. I really hope that it returns back like before with good fairway and green. I really hope so.

T

I have a standing foursome every Saturday and the two courses at Brookeside are a frequent stop for me and the boys. Love this place both courses. Course 1 I like for the length and the longer holes, course two I like for the lay out. The only thing I don’t like about this course and my buddies agree is that the guy with the glasses that works the front desk doing the check ins is a complete miserable person. He’s rude to customers, he’s short with his answers and he makes it seem like you inconveniencing him when all you’re trying to do is pay. He literally makes us not want to play there even though our interaction with him is like two to three minutes long. I understand it’s early in the morning usually. (We try to get the earliest tee time out). All I’m saying is that guy is awful and shouldn’t be the first person you have to interact with when you get to the course. Also I'm pretty sure they hide reviews. Because when i go on to check if anyone has responded i cant are it unless i log in. But i can see the good reviews.

S
Sean Moore

Booked a tee time for this weekend and they have a festival. Can’t call anyone to cancel to get my money back. Call every single option on the phone system. Nobody working nobody to talk to. Why let people book tee times if your closed for some stupid event? First time to Pasadena playing golf. Most likely my last. I would rather spend my time and money a place where they appreciate my business. It’s been about 10 years since I’ve been to California! Wow what an absolute sewer this place has turned into. Homeless, theft, crime, gas at 6.00 a gallon. No wonder everyone is leaving. I’m cutting my trip short. This place has a dump! No more California for me! Yuck!

I feel scammed for 70$ per person. The fairways are terrible lots of spots literally have no grass. And apparently there’s some construction going on, huge pieces of the fairway is just straight up mud. The greens are not kept well. There’s a huge tractor parked in the middle of the hole…. 😅😅 absolutely hated my experience here and will not be coming back.

Horrible fairways, some parts are just dirt with no grass. Greens are super firm and every hole is on a hill, almost no chance to two putt even if you GIR. Pace of play is at least 5 hours. The LA city courses are in better shape than these Pasadena courses. Don't play here until they fix the conditions. Not worth $80...

I would like to formally raise a serious concern. After completing a round and returning the golf cart, whenever I contact the course about an item I accidentally left behind, I am consistently told that the item is “not found.” This happens far too often to be considered coincidence. If the carts are returned to a designated area and handled only by staff, I need a clear explanation of who else has access to them after they are turned in. Just this past Tuesday, I left my Bushnell rangefinder attached to the cart. When I returned later the same day to inquire about it, I was informed that it was already missing. Previously, I have also lost a jacket under similar circumstances. Given that the golf course charges customers and is responsible for cart management, I believe it is reasonable to expect proper safeguards—such as cameras, documented checks, or a clear accountability process—to protect customers’ personal property. Repeated losses without explanation reflect poorly on the level of service and responsibility expected from a professional golf facility.

The weekend regular rate is $84, but if the course is under aerifying greens, there should at least be a 25% discount ($21), if not 50%. The fairway conditions were in terrible shape, and the greens across all 18 holes were also in very poor condition. If you truly respect golfers, shouldn’t the course management handle this by aerifying 9 holes first and then the other 9 later, instead of disrupting all 18 holes at once? I came expecting an enjoyable weekend round of golf, but Brookside Golf Course management completely ruined the day with poor conditions and lack of consideration. Extremely disappointed!!! 🤔😡
