We were in Pasadena for the day looking for a coffee shop with decent vegan options and we were blown away with this one. Fantastic drinks, delicious treats, an environment dripping with coziness, and staff who are kind, thoughtful, and helpful. We wound up coming back 3 times in one day! Everything is well made and wonderful.
Always passed by this place and wondered how the food was. I was pleasantly surprised. Drinksand food are great. Recommend the Justegg Tartine. Barista was very attentive and knowledgeable.
Truly this place came through where it counts: after enjoying the Rose Parade on Jan. 1st with a friend, we were having a difficult time finding a place to sit. We had JUST placed ourselves in two different wait lists at two different restaurants, so while we waited, we wandered through Colorado Ave, looking for a place with shade and somewhere to sit. This place absolutely came through. They are in such a nice location. There are seats both inside and outside and also, despite being out of almost everything, I had one the best cups of hot cocoa with oat milk I've ever tried. Immensely grateful for the great customer service, great drink and much-needed place to sit with shade. 10/10
This charming coffee shop boasts a delightful ambiance. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere outside the café. Their signature 24k charcoal latte was a standout—unique and delicious. While the interior décor is pleasant, it shows signs of age. Nevertheless, the high-quality tableware, chairs, and tables more than make up for it. The prices are quite reasonable, too.
I really like not having to pay extra for plant based milk. This coffee shop is completely plant based, including the pastries, so the price already has the usual surcharge included. The drinks and ambience are really cute and feminine.
My husband and I wanted to try a few new places in the Pasadena area, and while walking around, we came across a sign on the Main Street, saying there were coffee and plants in the back. We followed the sign a little back patio, and came across hands-down the cutest coffee shop I have ever seen. We are both crazy coffee nuts, and we have travelled the world (Germany, Armenia, Dubai, Greece, several states) looking for great coffee shops. This place easily makes the top 5 list. Easily. I’m not a fan of non dairy options, so when the owner, AC, told us everything was dairy free, I was worried I wouldn’t like the taste. He recommended trying oat milk, because it’s the closest to dairy options. My husband got a cappuccino with almond milk, and I got myself an oat milk 24k chocolate latte. The drinks are delicious. Seriously delicious. I could not tell that my drink was missing dairy. We also bought a cute little Coffee & Plants pin, something to take home, and I wanted to spend more money in the cafe. I cannot begin to explain how cute this place is. It’s a little tight, and finding parking is a pain, but once you’re inside it’s hard to want to leave. Highly recommend and I’ll definitely be back. Starbucks line was around the corner so we found this hidden gem as we didn’t want to wait in line. We were shocked! So much better, the atmosphere was amazing and the people were so kind. We were there the day of the Rosebowl when everyone was moody and crabby but these folks had us caffeinated with a smile. Thank you!

Wonderful cafe. This is my go to for drip coffee, which I normally don’t drink for the taste, but of all the similar cafes in old town Pasadena, this is the drink I keep coming back to order. I get it though, drip coffee is a low margin drink and not as instagramable, but it is a rare thing for me to find consistently flavorful drip coffee other than at roasteries and higher end cafe establishments. Don’t sleep on the classics! Also, their pastries are fun to have once in a while!
My favorite coffee shop in Pasadena! I usually go for a regular latte, but I have also tried their charcoal latte which is delicious. I also love their food options since it’s hard to find cafés with so many vegan options that are also delicious. The atmosphere is to die for inside or outside the café is so cute. Would highly recommend!
This place could not be more lovely or perfect for a fairytale. It’s worth finding it in the alley for breakfast or a cuppa, especially if you’re vegan. Plan on eating outside for the delightful setting.
Beautiful place, delicious VEGAN treats, amazing coffee and awesome staff! The music is great, the owner is great. Such a hidden gem in Pasadena! ❤️

Best coffee I’ve ever had in the USA. The food was expensive, but delicious. Cute little shop in a nice part of the city. I hope to visit again some day.

Great find! I’m not a fan of any rose-lavender-flavored lattes but the barista did mention that their rose syrup is house made and doesn’t have the artificial flavoring that most shops have. I took her word and gave it a try! Loved it. I had it hot but I’m sure iced would have been just as great. I also had their cherry almond muffin! Not a combination i would have ever tried so thanks for the new flavoring!I think the vibes could have been better but working in the customer service field, I’m too biased. Overall a solid experience.
Tucked in an alley way in Old Pasadena, Coffee and Plants looks exactly how I had pictured it: small, chic, lush; the indoor space is a bit dim but it's a perfect place to escape the high noon sun. The shop has a cozy, quiet, and intimate atmosphere. I had a flat white and it wasn't bad. As the name may have suggested, the coffee shop is 100% plant based. Because of the oak milk, I didn't enjoy the texture as much, but the lovely latte art earned an extra point, especially given that it's oak milk.
Very nice café on a side street in Pasadena. The service was super nice and friendly. If you order something to eat, you should bring some time with you, as it is prepared with love and care. Unfortunately we didn't have a fork and knife, but they were brought on request. The food was delicious and so was the coffee. The whole thing is completely vegan!

Now don’t get me wrong, I really love the idea of this place. Donating to local animal charities is awesome and amazing and I hope they continue helping the community in meaningful ways. However, I paid $9 for an iced dirty Chai. It was the wrong size, and watery as heck! Not to mention the little bits of oatmilk crust floating in my drink, super unappetizing. Their matcha was on par with Starbucks. But the food I ordered was gross I forced myself to eat it because I was running late. They really need to improve the quality of their menu. Otherwise I really can’t see myself spending money here. Otherwise the staff was super nice, and the atmosphere was gorgeous.
I got the JustEgg tartine, chocolate croissant and lavender latte (pictured). It's a cute instagram-worthy place with good coffee, but the vegan food is not that good. The chocolate croissant was hard and not fluffy. Vegan croissants are difficult to find, and this one was disappointing. I don't remember much about the tartine. Come for the coffee and nice ambiance, not for the food.

The place itself and the person making the drinks was all cool, just the drinks itself were not good. My boyfriend and I got two different drinks and both were tasted like water down and no flavor. Pretty disappointing.
Ok, ok, ok. Let me explain the rating. I LOVE coffee, and I also LOVE beautiful places. While the beauty of this place was one for the best Instagram eye— the coffee was so expensive and disappointing I couldn’t even allow more on the stars. The staff weren’t very welcoming either — so it didn’t help. The menu was vegan centered so I didn’t try any of the pastries. If you’re looking for a cute spot to take pics— try it! Just don’t order a drink! YUCK!
This place is so LA & I mean that in both a bad (unfortunately) & a good way. ITEM'S ORDERED: The Zion (cold brew, orange syrup, almond cream, orange peel for garnish) Pink Matcha (matcha, hibiscus syrup, beet juice for color) The current in store menu does not have descriptions on drinks with names you would not be able to guess what they were. You have to scan their QR code for a more detailed menu. Small complaint....but they should just have drink details on the in store menu since it just slows the ordering process down in general because many people would probably still end up asking questions about drinks. TASTE: This place is 100% plant based which I like. So for any drinks with milk they give an option of oat or almond milk. Ordered both the drinks with almond milk. The Zion pretty much tastes like a weak cold brew with a splash of milk & slightly sweetened. I like strong coffees so I'm quick to say a coffee needs more strength but I think even most coffee drinkers would find this one too weak. I could kinda detect the flavor of orange but maybe that's just when I read the description. Also, there was no orange zest for garnish on my drink. Pink matcha is basically a well made matcha latte with that "LA" touch. When it came out the bottom layer looked more purple than pink & with the green layer on top it just is a very pleasing drink to look at, which is what I expected from this place. Matcha flavor is good & present while the hibiscus provides a "different" (not bad) type of not overpowering sweetness. SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING: Service was kinda on both ends of the spectrum. The cashier who took my order had that type of "what do you want!?" in(famous) LA type attitude, didn't even greet or anything. While another girl who gave me my drinks was nice. Also, this place is cash free. The subpar service was even more so highlighted since I went to 2 other new (to me) coffee shops the day before this visit & they had exceptional service. Also, kinda just letdown in general since I've been wanting to come here for some time now. The interior as well as some exterior of this place is vibrant, green & inviting. There's 4 very small tables inside with the wall side being booth seating style. There's more available seating available out front. For a place that's 100% plant based in Pasadena I kinda thought they'd have paper or bamboo straws or something. But they have the usual plastic. They are located on Union St in Old Town Pasadena which as you may know, provides quite the parking experience. More specifically they are in the One Colorado shopping area very close to the iPic theater & Sushi Roku. It you get lucky you'll find really close by (metered) street parking. But more than likely you'll need to park at the De Lacey Parking Structure which is not too far of a walk. They provide 90 minutes free without validation. It's located on De Lacey in between Colorado & Green. I'm in Pasadena pretty often & this wasn't the worst (definitely not the best) experience so I'm not completely opposed to making a return here. Maybe.

super cute place but the worker is not very knowledgeable on coffee drinks. i tried ordering just an iced coffee and a hot coffee. didnt seem to understand what i was asking for. I completely understand specializing in speciality drinks but it felt difficult for no reason ordering coffee haha. coffee wasn't good unfortunately also smells like vomit inside the place ):

We tried Coffee and Plants for the first time today, and maybe it just wasn’t their best day. The place is beautiful and has a lovely vibe, but the food and overall experience didn’t quite live up to the price point. I ordered the avocado tartine, which didn’t look like the advertised picture and was honestly disappointing: $18 for a piece of chewy bread with some avocado, tomatoes, and capers felt pretty steep. The chagaccino had way too much cinnamon for my taste, though the “Peach Please” drink was actually pretty good. My friend also ordered a hot lavender coffee that arrived cold and it took a few minutes for the waiter to acknowledge the mistake and make it again; and a strawberry croissant that was left out of the order. When we mentioned it, the staff brought it over but reminded us multiple times that we had to pay for it since it wasn’t charged before, which honestly felt unnecessary given the mix-up. Overall, the café is beautiful but the quality and service didn’t quite match the prices. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’d come back.
