Both the food and the service were absolutely terrific. I had a French dip and the cheeseburger soup, which was really good.
My boyfriend and I have been in for breakfast a few times and have always left full and satisfied. The ladies working behind the counter are friendly, attentive and welcoming. There are endless breakfast options to choose from. It's an interesting place too... it's part bar, part restaurant and part convenience store with drinks, snacks and baked good for sale. They have an old wood burning stove going (during the winter) in the center of the restaurant so you can be nice and cozy while enjoying your meal. I def recommend checking it out. There is a lot of history to the place with several cool old photos on the walls and a story of the place being haunted on the menu.
Love that they opened back up! Clean and cute! Burgers were huge! Chris the owner is super friendly!
Nice place to stop and get refreshed on that long mountain trek. you gotta catch 'em when they're open, however. Still, both sides of the highway have plenty of bright lighted parking space, far away from the road, so that one may rest awhile during late night travels.
We enjoyed three wonderful days at the Clay Station Campground. We were in spot 14 which fit our 30 ft trailer and truck perfectly. We had full hookups but were cautioned about not using multiple items at once, they are still working on supplying more electricity. This campground is a perfect home base as you explore the sierras. They have a wonderful restaurant that has breakfast and lunch items which we enjoyed daily. We can’t wait to come back again and stay in the spring . Thankyou for a great and safe time in your campground.
Salt of the Earth and Steeped in History. The food is down-home and fresh. The service is hopping so don't slow her down! I had the breakfast burrito and it had fresh avocado and veggies, real hash browns. Fantastic, unassuming, good value!
My fiance and I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious, cheap, and the portions are large. The service is great as well as the ambience. They're dog friendly, great hospitality, and very funny people here. I'm a stickler for gravy and their sausage gravy is one of the best. Their pancakes are large, very tasty, and filling. I seriously can't recommend this place enough. We'd come back just for their humor and cute dog even 😂
Went here with my family after some fun in the snow. Nice little place with enough room, we had a group of 5. One person working the kitchen and the bar. She was very nice and her cute dog. Food came out pretty fast and it was really good! Definitely a nice place to relax and enjoy some good food. I believe the menu said 25 burgers. A lot to try out next time.
What a cute, quaint and yummy spot! I adored the atmosphere inside and fire burning fireplace inside. Located right off highway 89z Stopped here with my dad and sister on our way home from the snow, we were famished and the burger hit the SPOT. I ordered the burger w/fried egg & they both ordered the Monica (southwest) burger and we cleared our plates. Burger was juicy, flavorful and just all around good. It was a must to leave a review, and the 2 women whom were working were nice and friendly and it began to snow a bit as we were eating so it was all around vibe. Definitely will have to stop by again when in the area.
A very convenient stop along mountain roads to grab a bite at. Enjoyed their French Dip sandwich, the side fries were hot and fresh too. Our server’s the sweetest! Think she might be the only server working there and there were many tables but everyone’s being well taken care of. There’s a nice outdoor patio area. Inside the restaurant, there’s an entire wall of coolers for alcohol! Before 11 they serve breakfast/brunch but after 11 it’s strictly lunch.
Great place, wonderful service and good food . We ordered a John's burger with onion rings and a Crispy chicken burger. It was a snowy January afternoon and the cup of chilli was such a delight to have . The food takes a bit longer to prepare, not a complaint rather a compliment for the homely meal that was served . The service was excellent . 2023 update: can't stress it enough about how friendly the staff are . The only tavern style wine is awesome.
With stops few and far between on the mountain highway, this restaurant and bar was founded in 1863, almost 160 years ago, so remote that they generate their own electricity. While the exterior looks much like it could have looked originally. The interior is relatively modern, service is fast and friendly, food is excellent, not gourmet, just good country food.
We showed up 5 minutes after they had closed. We were starving but they had already turned off the grill, but they still had the fryer on. They were kind enough to offer chicken and fries or fish and fries. We ordered the chicken and fries. They were so good. Crispy and juicy, the fried were the thicker crinkle fries and so tasty. The service was fantastic, they went above and beyond to help us when they didn't have too and the food was so good!!! They allowed us to eat on the back patio and use the restroom (which had a heater in it!!). Definitely will be back to try the extensive breakfast menu!
