MO’s is one of my favorite BBQ places. We got here for dinner after a long day of being out and about. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich and I had the rack of ribs. We also had corn bread and fries. The pulled pork was delicious but the star of the meal was the ribs. They came to us hot with the right amount of sauce on them. There was bbq sauce available but I didn’t even need any. This place is awesome! So close to the beach and shopping. Will definitely be back
Came here on labor day weekend. Service was fast and cooked hot. Third time here and for my taste buds. This is the best BBQ I've had in California. I always order the ribs. Each flavor has its own unique taste. The flavor is balanced with meat and sauce. Other places I've tried are too much meat taste and not BBQ flavor or too much sauce and zero meat taste. I only go for the ribs any flavor you try is a great choice. The sides are ok for me. Yet I'm only here for the ribs. Out of the park home run for me. Also the story behind it is cool. The owner traveled all over the BBQ belt of American trying to bring the best flavors to the West. I think it was a job well done.
Mo’s Smokehouse BBQ is hands down one of the best BBQ spots I’ve ever been to! Located right in the heart of Pismo Beach, this place knows how to deliver unforgettable flavors. The pork baby back ribs are absolutely phenomenal—perfectly tender, smoky, and fall-off-the-bone delicious. You can tell they’ve mastered the art of BBQ. The Tri-tip sandwich is equally amazing, packed with juicy, flavorful meat and served on a soft, fresh bun. It’s the kind of sandwich that leaves you craving more with every bite. Don’t skip the garlic fries—they’re the perfect crispy, garlicky sidekick to round out your meal. Everything on the menu feels like it’s made with care and a true passion for BBQ. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. If you’re in Pismo Beach and love BBQ, Mo’s is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!
This place is great, and has been for many years. The signature BBQ sauce they make is great and really sets apart their food. The BBQ pulled pork and BBQ hamburger is so tasty. Its location of being down one of the main street in Pismo is a plus and really convenient if go to or from the pier or beach. Amazing location. Amazing food.
What an absolute awesome dinner and fun experience we had at Mo's! The food was most, tasty and downright delicious!!! Right on the main drag as you walk down to the pier and easy to get to. Parking is a pain, but in Pismo it is best to walk. The beans were sweet and yummy and their potato salad rocks. The half slab of pork ribs was a great dinner and you won't leave hungry. Great place for the kids and family.
The meat was absolutely fabulous, no doubt. The lime chicken tacos need some improvement on its delivery, possibly shredded chicken??? Too chunky on its delivery, difficult to consume. The coleslaw was dynamite. Garlic fries cooked perfect, but could use some more spreading of the fresh garlic over the entire order, rather then a lump of garlic in the middle. I ordered the rib sampler, couldn't tell one sauce from another. They put 3 stacks of ribs together in one package of foil, so I have no idea what each individual option of ribs actually taste like, but I really enjoyed the meaty cuts and nice charring with spectacular sauce. Well done! Worth the trip if you're in the mood for BBQ!!
I’ve always loved Moe’s. Their garlic fries are amazing. Can’t go wrong with the tri tip. Cornbread muffins are good too. My husband has never had a letdown with the ribs. My stepson ordered the pulled bbq chicken sandwich and said it was “okay” when I tried it, I was thoroughly let down. It wasn’t good whatsoever. Obviously traffic gets super busy, but the vibe is amazing in here. I love the classic decor, and I enjoy the classic blues and jazz that gets played. Always has fast service for such a busy spot too.
I am usually not hard to please, but this one did not hit the spot despite being in a wonderful location with great service and atmosphere. I got the tri-tip sandwich with potato salad. The meat was tough and almost without any flavor. The BBQ sauce was just ok. The price was just right.
The BBQ here is delicious! We had the full rack combo and a basket of garlic fries. The combo had 3 flavors of ribs, corn bread muffin, potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw. The ribs were juicy and delicious, it was nice to try the different flavors, all were very good. The baked beans and cornbread muffin with honey butter were a perfect complement to the ribs, as well as the garlic fries which were crispy and tasty. The fries basket was also huge - we had to take half of home it was so much. Highly recommend this place!
Very tight seats. Service was very hard to get a hold of since tables needed to be cleaned. One bathroom shard between men and women. Fountain drink available. The food was a bit overpriced. Did not get enough food for what I feel I paid for. Bbq wasn't as good as others I tried. The only thing I can think of is convinced of it being close to pier. I would try other places before coming back. Was not bad food. I just felt I could have gotten something better elsewhere for price. Shared sampler.
I have been here 3 times and the food is good. It’s not the best BBQ I’ve ever had but I like it enough to go back. However this time I decided to try out more things. I got the ribs and chicken tacos. The ribs were cooked to perfection and came right off the bone. The tacos on the other hand did not set well with my stomach and made me sick. I would stay away from them. Other than that everything else was good and I also don’t recommend dining in on weekends it is extremely pack.
Service was awesome, cashier very helpful and knowledgeable of food items. Ordered sampler platter, tri tip sandwich, killer garlic fries and garlice bread. My husband enjoyed the meats and beans, potato salad tasted like grocery store potato salad. Tri tip sandwich had a good amount of meat, bread was soggy from the juice from the meat and very little BBQ sauce. As for the garlic fries, the chopped up garlic was thrown the middle of the fries as a dip, no cheese was added. Garlic bread, just tasted like toasted bread.
The sauce’s flavors didn’t quite hit. Had to remove most of it (chose the Memphis sauce) off the ribs. The meat itself (on the ribs) was perfectly cooked, soft and meaty. The other meat was ok. Used their regular sauce (not impressive) for that. The sausage was spicy and yummy. So was the coleslaw and beans. The cornbread was drier than the desert and really didn’t want to go down without water. I think the most disappointing thing for us was the garlic fries though. I do wonder what they used because it tasted like vinegar and canned garlic. The fries were saturated in oil too. Restroom was clean, place was too. Lots of potential and room for improvement (in food and service).
Yeah, this place wasn't good at all. Smelled good, however that didn't translate to the taste. I ordered a Tri-Tip sandwich thinking maybe it would be tender with slathering of sauce. Definitely not the spirit, the meat was as dry as the Mojave desert!!! I will say, I enjoyed the coleslaw. My advice is ask for extra sauce on the side, not sure if would recommend, our food was not pleasant...
Came here in 2021 with my family and remember the food being very excellent. We recently came back two months ago due to nostalgia and Craving the food again, When we had walked in and were looking through the menu we were asking how big the portions were for the sides(small btw) There was two women at the front who were obviously having a bad day because as we were asking they kept looking at each other and giving us attitude. as for the food the meat was super bland and dry the coslaw/ bbq sauce tasted like it was mixed with water and the seating was very tight as in we had to kindly ask a couple next to us if they could get up so we could squeeze through to leave. overall experience alright at first but all those inconveniences added up to a bad experience.
thought we would try out BBQ, I ordered sampler plate with ribs, chicken, pulled pork, cole slaw and baked beans. husband had Tri tip sandwich and potato salad. tri tip was dry and tough. All the meat on my plate was cold and over cooked, no flavor. Cole slaw was good and onion rings were good. I would not recommend this place. should have checked reviews before we went there. Employees were nice.
