We tried the pollo and carne asada empandas with cheese (con queso), salbute barbacoa, and pechuha de pollo taco. The empandas were very good, soft , great flavor, and not too greasy. The salbute barbacoa was very tender with great flavor. The pollo taco was okay. I would definitely recommend giving the empandas and barbacoa a try!

I've been in Playa just over a month now and you are spoilt for choice with places to eat here... I've been to a wide variety of Mexican food places, for tourists, local, high end, street food, cafes.... But I have to say, this place has become my firm favorite.... I just happened to come across it one day exploring the back streets beyond 5th and 10th and thought I'd give it a go... Glad I did... It's local and rustic, but clean with nice attentive staff. Good selection of drinks and wide selection of dishes on the menu. The food is fresh, not greasy and they even make their own fresh tortillas in house.You can see the lady in the back corner preparing them each day by hand... All of the dishes I have tried are delicious but I have to say my favorite is their Chorizo Tacos. Sublime. I eat here pretty much daily and never really see many other Westerners/tourists here, mainly locals... So I'm guessing it's a bit of a hidden gem!

So delighted! Authentic mexican restaurant. All the antojitos taste so delicious. I can't wait to come back and taste them again. The beef consomé is so good. If you have handover I really recommend it.

This is a great local spot. It's small and simple, nothing fancy. But the food is excellent, authentic Mexican food. During both our visits, local folks were constantly coming up to the window to order food to take home, which is always a good sign. And it's super super cheap, $1 tacos.

I was a bit disappointed. This place is referred to in a lot of blogs. I tried pretty much everything except pork-based tacos. The flavor is okay, and the price is excellent. You have to pay in Pesos (not a problem), only Spanish, and no USD is accepted. I wish I had a bit more direction in my selection. I wouldn’t go back

Great place for authentic Mexican everyday food. Off the beaten path,. Close to Calle 5, the main tourist trap drag. Low budget, but delicious. You MUST speak Spanish. Otherwise do not go and expect them to accommodate you. Low budget, low ambiance. Not for the faint prissy tourist. Try their consume de barbacoa. and tacos al pastor.

ATENCIÓN, LEER ANTES IR: Nos dieron para ver el menú antes de entrar, nos llamó la atención la pizza guetti (pizza con fideos) y nos dijeron que era para compartir. En el menú estaba a 200 MX. La bebida 30 MX. Algo más caro del presupuesto que estábamos gastando por comida y del que podíamos manejar, pero decidimos darnos el gusto con la expectativa de que valía la pena. Llegó el plato, tamaño normal, pueden compartir si es que no tienen tanto hambre. Los fideos son los típicos comprados, no es casero. La pizza con piso, no gustosa. Los mozos nos atendieron bien. Cuando nos traen la cuenta figura 275 MX sólo por la pizza guetti en lugar de 200 MX cómo figuraba en el menú, 30 MX de bebida (pedimos solo un agua) y el 18% de propina. Le comentamos al mozo que estaba mal la cuenta, lo verificó en la carta y teníamos razón. La respuesta de la dueña: El precio no esta actualizado en la carta pero el valor es de 275 MX. Es decir, en el menú está un precio pero cuando ya lo consumís y te traen la cuenta aumentó de golpe un 40%, una estafa. Nos quejamos. Tuvimos un muy mal momento y luego de una larga discusión porque la dueña insistía que aumento el precio, el mozo dijo de hacerse cargo por la diferencia de 50 MX. Cuando finalmente pagamos. Nos dieron mal el vuelto, faltaban 100 MX. Reclamamos y nos trajeron correctamente el vuelto. Ante esto la dueña nos viene a decir que le dejemos propina a los mozos de muy mala manera, agresiva. No volvería a este lugar. No lo recomiendo. La atención de los mozos no fue mala pero no pueden dar soluciones por la jefa que tienen. Caro y la comida tampoco lo vale

El encargado es muy déspota y el servicio es muy malo algunas bebidas caras, Nosotros asistimos para apoyar este lugar porque apreciamos los québécois pero la persona a cargo todo el tiempo está muy high y aveces se pone muy agresivo con los clientes, tiene mal trato y solo plática con sus amigos, quiso cobrar el triple del costo original hasta que pedimos el ticket, ignora a la clientela por largos ratos, creo que necesita un curso intensivo de Servicio, reglas de Profeco y otro curso de autocontrol.

The place is dirty as a Woodstock bathroom. The service is deficient, the food taste is terrible, the price is the only positive thing. The service is super bad, no napkins and the plates were dirty. Avoid this place if posible.

Went there a couple of times a year ago, always great, never a problem. Today I got ripped off, the waiter covered 50 pesos too much (more than 50% of the actual total!), when I asked him about the high total he was evasive, so I just paid and left. When I later came back and showed him a detailed calculation, he gave me back the 50 pesos very quickly, but I bet he tried this before and will try again. Food is great, but be careful when presented with the check…
