Baci Bistro and Bar is a charming Italian restaurant in downtown Pleasanton, known for its delicious food and friendly service. The lamb shank is a standout, and many appreciate the warm bread and attentive staff, especially Matt and Ali. Some find it pricey and occasionally noisy.

Now I haven't tried all the Italian restaurants in downtown Pleasanton but I have been to nonnis and strizzis and this place may be my favorite for dinner. Got the southern Italian spaghetti with steak and it was soooo good. The calamari was a surprise too got the soup of the day and that was really tasty too. The dessert was just the icing on the cake. Will have to come back and try more dishes!
Baci is getting better over the years. The menu is big, the service staff has been around and are courteous and professional, the food is tasty and comes in large portions, the wine list is long, and the bar knows how to make a good cocktail. If you haven't visited in a while, give it a shot once again. Cool stuff on the menu, like squid ink spaghetti with prawns. Baci is a fun place to eat in downtown Pleasanton.
Easter Sunday brunch was amazing! My boyfriend and I shared a delicious salad with cabbage and prawns in a sweet zesty dressing. Next we shared, I think it was called, The billion dollar Benedict. Also n outstanding plate. From start to finish we enjoyed our service, atmosphere and food. Can't wait to return!
Had an amazing experience here! The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. It’s the perfect place for family or holiday gatherings.
They had THE BEST lobster ravioli! I also snagged a bite of my friend’s crab cake eggs Benedict. It was very very good! Definitely will be back!
An Unforgettable Birthday Celebration at Baci's! We'd been wanting to visit Baci's for ages, and finally decided to celebrate my birthday here on Valentine's Day - what a perfect choice! Tip: Make reservations! This place gets really busy, especially on special occasions. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The Valentine's Day decor was beautiful and really added to the romantic atmosphere. The staff was incredibly efficient and friendly, and our waiter Kevin was absolutely fantastic and gracious throughout the evening. Appetizers: We started with the Golden Beet Salad (with goat cheese, toasted almonds, and honey balsamic dressing) and the Crispy Sweet Chili Prawns. The prawns were amazing - they came with a Fiji apple coleslaw and pomegranate sauce, and the combination was simply heavenly! Entrees: The Lamb Rack came with four beautifully cooked lamb chops, mashed potatoes, spinach, and pomegranate sauce - really delicious. We also tried the Chicken Milano, which was incredible. The combination of artichoke, sun-dried tomato, asparagus, shallots, linguini, basil, garlic, parmesan, parsley, and white wine lemon sauce was perfection on a plate. Desserts: We couldn't resist ordering both the Molten Chocolate Cake with vanilla ice cream and the Warm Bread Pudding with ice cream. Both were fantastic and the perfect end to our meal. The vibe at Baci's is lively and festive - it can get loud, but that just adds to the fun atmosphere. If you're looking for a great place to celebrate with friends or that special someone, Baci's is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back!
One of the very best locations & menus in the heart of downtown pleasanton. Indoor and outdoor options. 🍽️ Open setting with windows 🪟 wrapped around the front and side. Desirable corner address for people watching and convenient walk to shops and additional parking. Bon appetite! 🧑🍳 Including a dog menu for your lunch palls. Has a small bar with a tv for sports and fireplace for dining ambiance. Staff is clean and professional and at your service. White table cloths and an extensive menu full of yummy options.
Has a nice brunch with my girl friends as a halfway point from Santa Rosa and Merced. The food was delicious! Nice downtown area surrounding with lots of shops and other eatery places to check out.
First time here 10/17/25 and no disappointment Kevin Was a great server the food was great for the price point and portioned my wife likes it so I have no complaints. Plus we walk down to milk and get some ice cream.
Went here for a birthday party. We ordered from the list of food from the celebrant's favorites. Appetizer- Mango salsa bruschetta, sweet chili prawns, and arancini fried risotto balls. Salad - Caesar and baci mixed green salad. Main course- New York steak and slow roasted lamb shank. Dessert - exotic bomba, turtle cheesecake, tiramisu, and creme brulee bread pudding. Everything is flavorful and cooked to perfection.
We were in the area as a team for work and went to Baci for dinner. It’s typical of this area that prices are above average and Baci is no exception. However, we really enjoyed the food and the service was particularly good. I had a the 20oz prime steak and it was cooked perfectly - yum! However, I’d skip the lobster-mac-cheese balls as they were pretty bland without the marinara sauce
This restaurant is fantastic!! I just had a party of 12 and everyone was thrilled with the food, wine and service. Top notch! I scheduled everything long distance Ali and he took good care of every detail! Thank you, Ali!! We had the Calamari and Mango Bruchetta for appetizers. Choices for dinner were, Salmon, Chicken Marsala, Mushroom Ravioli and Eggplant Parmesan. Everything was delicious.
Absolutely charming, authentic, classy and gourmet home cooking meals. Our dining experience was so great that mom and I had to visit one last time the next day before driving home to Sacramento. If you love Italian cuisine and love to feel like you’re in the hands of Little Italy???? Go here!!!!
We've been here for brunch before, but this was our first time coming for dinner. The two of us showed up around 6pm on a Friday and were seated immediately. Our server was on point - quick, very friendly and helpful. Now, the food: I ordered the sole despite initially balking at the high price. I'm so glad I did. It was the singular best fish I've ever had anywhere. There was a citrus sauce that was just AMAZING (caps necessary). My boyfriend was a little less impressed with his seafood pasta, but I think that's just because my meal set the bar so high! I ordered the Italian custard and berry dessert (I couldn't pronounce it, and certainly can't remember what it was called now) as well, and it was very light and so, so good. We also had the grilled artichokes as an appetizer and they were delicious. We will definitely be back.
Stopped in for dinner and a glass of wine. The owner is very kind and friendly, let us in for a glass of wine and bread before they opened. Great food and beautiful restaurant. Also friendly and helpful bar tender and staff.
The Lamb Shank is fall off the bone out of this world. All of the meals I have had here are yummy. The restaurant is very clean and staff is amicable. Matt is the man, great service and greatsense of humor. Let's keep supporting small family owned businesses.
This was our first meal after traveling in from the East Coast and it did not disappoint. They brought out a ton of freshly baked warm bread to enjoy when we were seated, and we had the crab cakes as well as the squid ink pasta and the chicken Marsala. Everything was tasty and came out fairly quickly. Plus they have a very extensive wine list to choose from, and the waitstaff are very nice. It does get crowded on Friday nights so be sure to call to make an advance reservation!

Always love this place. Artichoke was amazing! A little noisy other than that food and service A+
Great service and food. We loved the ambiance. Very friendly people that are talkative at the bar. Very good wine selection along with full bar. Although they can accommodate if you don't have reservations I would highly recommend especially in the winter when sitting outside is not a option.
When we were in town visiting our local friends, this was the first place they took us to for lunch. We sat at a table outside. The food was good: I enjoyed the burger and the fries were awesome. #LetsGuide tip: Order the fries even if it doesn't pair well with your main dish. The service wasn't great - nothing was wrong with our orders, it was just slow. It took a while to get drink refills and once we had to send someone inside to ask for something. But in their defense, we were there in the late afternoon, around shift change. I think they just kept forgetting we were there. I would recommend giving the place a try, just check it out during more popular dining hours.
We had lunch with friends. Love the atmosphere & service. We ordered Two hamburgers, chicken sandwich & Ahi Tuna. I’m a foodie however tried the burger, probably not what is their specialty. I ordered it medium it was a bit overcooked & seemed the cook “smashed” the patty to cook faster as there was no “juice” in the burger. The bun was pretzel & was good but a bit thick. I had fires friend had salad. The chicken sandwich was good but lacked moisture & flavor. She compared to other chicken sandwiches she’s had in the past. The ahi did get a good review said it was different from others she’s had. We will return when next in the area and try something more to their specialty.
Quiet atmosphere. Main course was a little too salty and cooled down for me. But the fish is cooked perfectly. Choice of vegetables not something I would want. The small plates are nice. Try the cheese toast!
Food and service was really good. Cute atmosphere. Definitely would go again. I had the risotto and scallops. And we ordered the Brussel sprouts which were also very good.

This charming restaurant is nestled in the heart of downtown Pleasanton. During our recent visit after many years, we had a mixed experience. The standout feature was the exceptional service and hospitality provided by the staff, who graciously assisted us in navigating the menu. They even offered to split our plates in the kitchen for an additional $3 charge, which was a nice touch. The restaurant boasts an impressive wine collection, and I highly recommend wines from 'Prisoner.' However, our dining experience took a downturn with the food. We ordered a well-done steak, but it arrived overcooked and dry, making it inedible. Despite this, we plan to give this place another try. For now, I'm reducing my rating by 2 stars due to the food mishap

While my very first visit was outstanding (about a year or so ago)! I ordered the Tomato and Mozzarella appetizer, Eggplant Parmesan and the Affogato for a most delicious ending. I cannot say that for my last two visits. During my most recent visit on October 17, 2025, I was served a most unpleasant plate of the Eggplant Parmesan. Not only was the appearance sloppy, the very eldente veggies were impossible to chew and the strangely flavored sauce ruined my meal that I once loved. I quit eating. No one asked me if something was wrong.
After a long day, our first meal was at 5pm-ish, a little early for dinner but very late for lunch. Needless to say, we came hungry. They are on the pricey side, but that really did not matter. The service is painfully spotty and not attentive. We had to call their attention to get our order started. The food came out pretty late and when I inquired about my steak, "You ordered medium well so it is taking longer". 🙄 It came out well seasoned, but also well done. I did finish my plate, but more because by then I was so hungry. There are many other options around this place...not sure we need to go back on this one. Would it be a nice enough place to take someone for a date or maybe finish a business meeting? Sure but again, many options in downtown Pleasanton.

Quite honestly the food is pretty good and it's not too expensive for what it is. But we had some issues with our service. Our waiter, Kyle, seemed pretentious and must have been working too many tables because we didn't see him very often. I had cork bits in my Merlot, and it took about 15 minutes to get another glass because he was nowhere to be found. When I showed him, great! No problem! New glass arrived.. but then later when we wanted some ketchup.. same deal.. waiter was nowhere to be found. I was paying attention now to his movements.. and I noticed that he tucked a menu in his pants (basically touching his underwear and sticking up his back) gross! I’m guessing that’s not his first time with that healthcode violation. I was able to move passed these issues until the bill came and I found out they charge a fee to split the salad.. but the thing is.. nobody ever asked the server to do that!! When we were ordering I asked my wife.. did you still want to share that wedge salad? I think random fees are the worst! Predatory.. it was a small charge but honesty and integrity aren't measured in quantity. This level of service is pretty inexcusable being that they are across the street from Tri-Valley Bistro, Sabio & Haps.. why would I ever go there and subject myself to bad service? Decent food though.. my 20oz New York Strip steak was thick.. and the mushroom & onions on top were garlicky & a little salty.. which I LOVED.. the steak itself was ordered medium rare.. but came out just medium.. still tasty enough.. not ruined.. and while the topping was salty the meat was not over salted & paired well with the Merlot.. kind of a shame about the service, since I liked the food.. but I'm the type that never forgets feeling cheated.
Over $300 for a family of four for pasta and chicken. The food was bad, service slow and the place was empty…. Apparently for good reason. Downtown restaurants can not continue to charge these amounts for mediocre food and expect people to return.
I would really like to rate this higher, and I do want to caveat this review by saying it was the fourth of July. Still, if you are going to be open that day you need to make sure that your guests don't wait 45 minutes to get their food, seeing their waiter twice in that time. When your food does come and you find the pastrami to be ice cold, even if it is pretty good, there is something wrong with how you are making food. The rest of the pasta wasn't bad, but the service and one pastrami cold and one hot were baffling. I don't really foresee us coming back, but the place does have some promise. It's a shame, really, since it's right down the street from great ice cream (meadowlark) and a nice place to walk along. Its not that pricey, either, thankfully. Edit: they did take the cold sandwich off the ticket, just to be clear. I did not ask them to but when I asked them to heat it up, they did and took it off the bill. I'll give kudos for that at least.

I wish I would have read reviews more clearly before coming. We were a party of 6 with a reservation. I unfortunately ordered Beef Strogonoff, which was inedible. Scraps of tough fatty beef dumped onto soggy rigatoni noodles with some sort of salty broth. The other members of our party ate their food, but all said their meals were salty and mediocre. It was a hour before we were served our food, that came over a 10 min span before all members of our party was served. In the hour we were waiting our water glasses were refilled once, and it wasn't until I stared glaring at our waitress that we were told food was coming soon. It pains me to write a negative review, I love my town and it's local establishments, I want to support my downtown restaurants and frequent them often. I appreciate that someone came and apologized after I sent my food back, they took it off the bill and applied a overall discount to our bill and I know we all have bad days, but this was unfortunately, especially bad and I don't anticipate trying again.
As humans, we have at least the four basic necessities to live: breathe, eat, sleep and use the restroom. I came across this restaurant the other night, Sunday, August 3rd - to request the use of their facilities, but since I indicated that I was not dining there, I was curtly denied access. A restaurant that serves food, but yet denies an individual access to answer the call of nature is not an establishment that I would patronize. Therefore, my friends and I decided to eat across the street at Hap's. And Hap's Original Steaks and Seafood did not disappoint. The food was divine and the service top notch! I recommend that one patronizes a restaurant that treats you with respect and dignity - and that is at Hap's Steak and Seafood - NOT at Baci. And I just read their prior reviews - this restaurant has a history of failed service. Lol....it is a wonder they are still operating as a restaurant.
