Super nice people. First time ever going to a caspers. Was excited because I've been wanting a hot dog but food doesn't always settle well with me so to have one and no issues was very exciting. Didn't like the beans in the chili but that's minor.

If you want a great hotdog on a cloud like bun Casper's is the place to go. Also, if you like dill pickles try the pickles here. They are AMAZING! I grab a dog and a slushy here once or twice a week. I highly recommend it!

I haven't lived in Oakland for 28 years. I miss Casper's, I loved the idea of all the condiments they had for my hot dog. So, tonight I had to make one of my favorites, with tomato and Taco Cheese and lots of mustard, it wasn't better than Casper's but it brought me back to how good Casper's were. Hey Guy's!! I miss you from PA.

Casper's one of the last of Oakland's old school hot dog diners. Still quality dogs at a quality price with quality and pleasant customer service. Grab you a cheese dog and sit on a stool and enjoy yourself.

Always some of the best hot dogs that I know of. I usually get the hot link and/or the big quarter pound hot dog with all the trimmings, i.e., chopped onions and tomatoes, mustard, ketchup, relish, and occasionally jalapeno peppers. The employees are always very kind, courteous, and professional. I definitely recommend Caspers Hot Dogs if you like great hot dogs.

The hot dog was good. The entire meal was a great little treat. The service was nice and fast. We enjoyed the little trip down memory lane. We grew up on these hotdogs. They are noticeably smaller dogs but still pretty good.

My favorite Bay Area hotdogs place! With sliced onions and sliced tomatoes, not diced! Mustard and relish, this hotdog doesn't fall apart when you bite it! Tasty, inexpensive treat!

This is a hot dog stand from my childhood, it's right down the street from the original one that was spelled with a 'K' that's now in the process to be reopened under a different name but still to have hot dogs but I digress. All of these Casper's with a 'C' are really great. I love the one in Richmond and of course this one here in Oakland. Hot dogs are definitely underrated. I miss the one in Albany greatly. We used to travel from our neighborhood to the one in Albany and sit there and just eat like little piggies. Back in the '80s and '90s that didn't have as many choices as they do now. The old standard was the mustard dog or the cheese dog. But now they have a hot link and some other good stuff. One thing about these hot dog stands is how they steam the buns. You can always tell who the old timers are who work there. The buns will be perfectly steamed, on my most recent trip that wasn't the situation. These were newer people who work there. They did not exactly steam the buns old school but I could care less, I still ate my hot dog with a big smile on my face. Oh don't forget to get the specialty souvenir cup which is made in the USA and is very dishwasher safe. I have about six or eight of them now and I don't even live within a hundred miles of a Casper's. Anytime I'm in a Bay Area that is definitely a stop for me.

Best hot dogs in the Bay. Grew up eating these and really never experienced anything else. Sure, Chicago style hot dogs are what they offer, but for me it's comfort food. Love Casper's and Kasper's. Consistent and delicious. Cheese dogs, Casper dogs, Chili dogs. All super yummy!

While they may not be considered Gourmet by many, Casper's Hot Dogs are one of the last bastions of old-school working-class American Cuisine in Oakland and the East Bay, and still maintain a lot of that value in their food. The way they put it together, the hot dog that is, small wedge of onion small wedge of tomato, maybe a little bit of mustard and relish, and a hot dog that snaps provides the perfect experience as you bite into a soft bun hit a hot onion and then have it cooled by the tomato, and then fighting into the snappy flavor of a delicious sausage, or hot dog, that is. You got to try this if you haven't because like some of the other places I review it's not going to be around forever. This is a piece of Oakland history.

The last time this little pipsqueek forgot his meds he was in Tijuana and when he turned Pepto Bismol pink the Mexican police jailed him because they thought he was from outer space, they even called NASA to come get him. Casper's sure makes great chili dogs 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Hard to write a review for this because it is hard to really appreciate Caspar's if you are not born here. For the rest of us, it is good, not great. I wish the hot links were of the Costco type, they were very tasty though

My rating of Casper's fluctuates between 4 & 5 stars to be honest. I've never had a bad experience, but the locations vary in experience like most chains. Chili-cheese dogs! I couldn't care less about the rest🤣.

I've been eating Caspers since the seventies. I know both kinds of Caspers, There's Caspers red and gold and there's Kaspers black and white. Not many of the latter around. I will say I know all the caspers in Co Co and Alameda County, THIS ONE RIGHT HERE IS THE BEST. I work in Alameda County, this is the only one I frequent, at least 20 times a year for lunch. Great efficient staff, everything is fresh they have Cholula, the one thing they don't have anymore though are those screamingy delicious tamales they use to serve 🤬. HOWEVER YES, highly recommend this place plenty of cheese on the cheese dog, a little hot dog with your CHEESE 🧀, great chili dogs. good prices. Yes highly recommend.

Casper’s is a Bay Area original. Been eating chili dogs at this location since the 1980’s and I hope it’s still around in 2080.

I've been there quite a few times recently and the woman on the steamer has messed up my order a number of times. Other then that they have finally learned how to use the steamer correctly....

To find out there are NO more junior dogs is a bummer. Casper's is the best hot dog place for me. This location customer service was not good when I went. The gentleman that serviced me was very snappy and short with his replies. Did not suggest or offer anything similar to what I wanted (Junior Dog).

I've seen this spot on Telegraph coming from and going to places since 1986 but never stopped in. I enjoy a good dog every so often so, since I was walking by, I thought "why not?". Clearly, the real fun of a hot dog place is the toppings and Casper's has all of them (chili, 'kraut, cheese, onions, pickles, relish, etc.). I prefer a relatively underdressed Polish dog, brown mustard only. It was fine. I "dined in", enjoying the genuine retro decor in the unassuming surroundings. Of course, it's not haute cuisine-- but it's a joy nevertheless.

Place is clean, pretty retro, fast service, the food it's self is what you'd expect. I got the chili cheese dog and the polish combo (bag chips & fountain drink) for $18. Honestly I couldn't tell the polish dog was any different than what a normal dog is, but I enjoyed the toppings (tomato onion mustard and relish) a bit more than the chili and cheese on the regular dog. I am a bit sad I didn't have an option to get a Chicago dog, I love grilled onions and peppers. So, I feel the "menu" is rather tiny. No fried options either, like a corn dog might have been nice. But besides the super limited simple menu, if all you want is a simple dog, you'll prob love this place.

The hot dogs were excellent although a bit pricey. I got the Casper dog, chili dog, and chili. The location seems pretty dated though and looks like it has never gotten at least a refresh. It's a great spot if you're craving a good hot dog but I can't say that it calls me to come back after seeing the inside.

I went there yesterday I ordered 2 original caspers extra mustard and onions got home and opened up and there was a couple of pieces of onion and very little mustard this is the 2nd time I have ordered and there was a problem the same woman work there and they seem like they don't want to be there not going back there even though I grew up close by

I am a hotdog lover and this place used to be a good place to get a quick, good quality, dog. After my last visit I decided that I would no longer go there because the food was so bad that I elected not to finish it. The hotdog tasted as if it were made of cardboard and adding condiments had no effect other than to further enhance the terrible taste. My advice; go to COSTCO for your hotdogs.

I bought 2 PLAIN all beef hotdogs with only ketchup in them, I got charged $16?!!!! I didn’t notice until I’m on my way home. This is fraud.

When bread is old it has a smell and this one smelled out as well as tasted old. The polish and regular hot dogs made us sick - we were both in the bathroom multiple times and it was the only thing we ate. What a waste of $34, ridiculous, I definely won't be back.
