We went for a beer to try their famous patatas bravas, but we ended up also ordering a cava sangria, an extra portion of potatoes, and a portion of fried calamari. The potatoes and the sangria deserve special mention—they were delicious! The place is quite unique; you have to go down two floors to reach the bar where you order, and then you find a table. The place is usually quite busy with people curious to try the patatas bravas and regulars who appreciate the quality of the food. A must-visit if you're in Ponferrada, as it's a really great spot. The atmosphere is very diverse, with tourists, families, friends, and regulars in general. The bartenders are generally attentive, quick, and helpful, and the waiter clearing the table is very efficient and fast, ensuring tables are filled without any waiting. A very interesting place to visit.

Everybody adores this place for their potatoes with the special sauce. The place has a medieval vibe and and nice vast seating area as well as a stand up high tables outside. Must try when in Ponferrada over a glass or two of nice red.

Best patatas bravas in the world! If you visit Ponferrada, this is a must! Be ready to wait for a table, or you can have a drink and a free small tapa in the bar, as queues are always long. I would also recommend the Sangria de Cava, it’s really good

The best patatas bravas I have ever had

Solo tienen 4 tipos de raciones, calamares, mejillones en salsa picante, cortezas y patatas bravas. Los calamares es lo que más nos ha gustado, la salsa de los mejillones está rica pero el bicho es muy normalito. Las bravas ricas pero tampoco una locura.. tienen medias raciones de todo, tiran muy bien la cerveza y tienen una sangría de cava que no probamos pero que la gente local pedía mucho.

Bar con encanto de la ciudad con muchas mesas en el interior que consta de dos plantas y otras en terraza cubierta. Los camareros no sirven en mesa, solo en barra y tienes que ir tú a pedir alli y después llevártelo a la mesa con una bandeja. Hay raciones y medias raciones, pero únicamente de cortezas, patatas bravas, mejillones y calamares. No admite pago con tarjeta y siempre está abarrotado. Nosotros fuimos a las 19:50 y ya había cola en la puerta. Por la tarde abrían a las 20. Es cierto que la comida sale enseguida y que la gente no suele enrollarse en las mesas sin están consumiendo. Los mejillones pican un poquito y la salsa brava es “especial”. Merece la pena pasar por allí al menos una vez.

No habíamos ido nunca al famoso "Bodegón" y decidimos probar. Fuimos de limonadas y pedimos una tapa de sus famosas patatas bravas, estaban muy ricas, el picante en su punto y la salsa con un sabor intenso. Pero quizás nos esperábamos algo más por la fama que se le ha dado al sitio y a sus tapas. En general está bien

Un sitio mítico e imprescindible en Ponferrada. Ofrece raciones y medias raciones de patatas, mejillones ( con una rica salsa de la casa) rabas y cortezas. Suele estar bastante lleno, pero con un poco de paciencia, se consigue mesa para sentarse. Muy recomendable.

A typical and obligatory stop. It's self-service, you have to ask, pay, and pick up... Be patient, as it's usually very crowded. You have to wait in line... and until it's your turn. The typical dishes are mussels in spicy sauce, potatoes, and calamari. Everything is delicious.

A typical Ponferrada spot! They offer four well-prepared traditional dishes. They don't accept reservations, so you have to be quick to get a table. You order at the bar and it's brought to your table. A great atmosphere, though.

Went here for the first time in 1978 and go back every 5-6 years when we are in town. In 1978 they were playing King Crimson which tells you something! There’s only 3 things on the menu, mussels brav…

There's no table service at the restaurant; they only serve four types of tapas: patatas bravas, calamari, mussels, and pork rinds. The sauce for the mussels and potatoes is the same. A portion of bread and a drink are also included. The place gets packed, I suppose because of the price, which is very cheap, but the quality is average. If you go during peak hours, you can expect to wait more than 40 minutes, which I don't understand since they only cook four things. And then you have to hope you get a table. It's okay to try it out for a quick dinner if it's not crowded, but there are better places to eat in the area, and with better quality. That said, the price is very reasonable. Two people can have dinner for €10 each.

This place has a completely undeserved reputation. Four dishes, of which you can order half portions (patatas bravas, mussels, squid, and rinds) and cava sangria as the signature drink. The only good thing was the squid, which were truly juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The potatoes and mussels, as I said, had a completely undeserved reputation: a soggy, tasteless brava sauce that ends up boring. If these potatoes are considered among the best bravas in Spain, one of two things is true: either those who reviewed them have never tasted good bravas in their lives, or I can't imagine what the worst ones are like... And to "wash down" the meal, the cava sangria was downright BAD. The only positive thing is the price. You can dine for €10-15 per person and leave feeling full, but not satisfied.

The famous bravas are not so good… they are very spicy…. In addition if you dont ask for the free tapa they charge you for same tapa that is free if you ask for it… I dont like that type of places where they try to cheat on you…

No es restaurante. Es un bar con tapas. 4, para ser exactos. Lleno de gente. Escaleras que es imposible bajar con un carrito o siquiera con muletas. La misma salsa para las 4 tapas. Te lo sirves tu, despues de hacer cola. Yo no se si la gente del Bierzo no han visto unas patatas bravas buenas en su vida o si les tienen mucho cariño, no se merecen la categoría de mejores patatas bravas, ni siquiera entre las 10 mejores patatas bravas. Y la sangría de cava está malisima. En el bierzo se come muy bien. Aquí, no.
