Takeout review: I had the catch of the day with a vegetable soup and it was so good! The service, even though I was just takeout, was very responsive, too. They allowed me to sit at a dining table and served me a cup of ice water.

An excellent choice for dinner in Puerto Escondido. Elegant environment, great service, delicious food. Me and my friend shared two starters (tomato salad and tacos), two mains (octopus and seafood risotto) and two desserts (coconut flan and chocolate foam). We also had one cocktail each.

The chef at metxcalli is creating delicious dishes. The tacos with bone marrow were absolutely mouth watering. The mole with chicken was super good. Definitely eat here.

Friendly staff, clean place, and efficient service. We had the Guacamole Con Carnitas and the Seafood Risotto. Food was plated nice and perfect portions. Not a long wait for food to come. Definitely recommend stopping here.

Probably the best meal we've had in the past 7 days - unique take on standard dishes, artfully prepared and most importantly delicious! Surprisingly we were the only folks there from 5:00 till we left at 7:30.

Had my birthday dinner yesterday, my first time there, and it was incredible! I had the tartare with grasshopper, tamalitos de frijol with huitlacoche, rib eye tacos with bone marrow, the Don Chente and Del Maizal cocktails (I hope I have the names right) and every single item was delicious, and beautifully plated generous portions. My server was attentive, friendly, spoke to me at length about ferments (one of my favorite subjects!). Highly recommend this restaurant!

Showed up right at opening so we were the only ones there. The staff were quick to serve us and friendly. Didn’t speak the best English, but we don’t speak great Spanish either and they were very patient with us. The atmosphere was really neat! Very comfortable and clean. We ordered margaritas (fantastic), the potato wedges (a little under done, not crispy), fish tacos and sashimi. Fish tacos came with pickled cabbage and extra sauce on the side and the sashimi was sliced super thin but came with sliced avocado which we ended up putting on our tacos. Overall very good and would recommend!

it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The waitress, Lupita, provided impeccable service throughout our meal. She was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was enjoyable. We ordered the mole and the Sopa Azteca, both were delicious. We look forward to returning whenever we are in Puerto Escondido

This place is special… the server Nacho is outstanding, gave us a whole Mezcal tutorial tasting… above and beyond kindness and mindfulness service that is rare in Mexico! Awesome happy hour special, sashimi/cerveza… is irresistible!

Really nice Restaurant. The food is exquisite and very well presented. We especially liked the spicy-marinated shrimps with roasted peanuts and watermelon. The waiter was very attentive and friendly, also we felt that our child was very welcome as he brought a game for her to play with.

I give only 5 stars just because I cannot give more!!! These guys are amazing! The restaurant is a beautiful spot in puerto Escondido, this is a luxury restaurant in all aspects (food ingredients, recipes, presentation of dishes, waiters/waitresses delicates and complete attentions to clients, elegance of the location, small details, the atmosphere, cocktails 🤩 WOW! Etc etc) Here really everything is just WOW! But….prices are super cheap! Maybe too cheap!!! If you don’t come here to eat, at least come here to drink their unbelievable cocktails with local fruits and flavors! We spent in Puerto Escondido only 4 nights. And we came here 3 evenings out of 4 dinners!! The 4th time that we did not come, we did extremely regret it…we would have come here 4/4 evenings, if we could go back in time! Guys believe me this place is a paradise for all your 5 senses ❤️ can’t wait to be back ❤️ ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES EVER

This place is a hidden treasure! Everything we ordered was presented in a Michelin fashion and the taste was superb. Yesterday we went to a very pretentious, reservations only restaurant down the street which claimed Michelin level… not close at three times the cost.

This place was awesome! From the friendly service to the super delicious healthy fare. I also loved the salsas, which were not overly spicy and full of flavor. I’d go back!! Some good vegan options as well. I got the setan tacos.

I would say METXCALLI is one of the best restaurants or the best restaurant in Puerto Escondido. This is not just a restaurant, the concept is an art gallery + cantina + restaurant which make it unique. The food amazing we try different dishes and we couldn’t stop trying different ones. The staff is very friendly and for the ones visiting the restaurant from February 2020 I was told they are going to open their “terraza” with a small spot where you can have you drinks and enjoy the sunset. Price, quality of food, location and staff are simply excellent.

Very good food although highly priced for the area. Service was OK. Friendly but not efficient. The atmosphere was tense as they spilled drinks in clients twice. Overall good place for the town albeit overrated.
