If you love german dishes and atmosphere that is the place for you. The imported draft beer is the best you can drink in the area. Waiters and owner very friendly and giving good suggestions. Guten Appetit!

The food is delicious German fare. The beer was great. The service is fast and efficient. The place is small and has a nice atmosphere. We'll be visiting here again.

Had a wonderful dinner ! Been to so many German restaurants on Long Island and NYC. This place checks all the boxes. The night special was sauerbraten, my husband ordered it, it was perfect, I had the Veal jaeger schnitzel with Swiss, the best I’ve ever had! We had the Black Forest cake for desert Yum! Our waitress Sammy was so great also! We are on vacation this week, but will definitely make another stop before we head home. Friendly nice owner also. The place is authentic and small, Reservations are a must!

Passion for Service and the Consistency of Excellence: What can one say about this little miracle of a Restaurant. When upon entering the front door your instantly greeted by cheerful smiles of the staff, then during your visit the owner breaks free from the kitchen to make table visits ensuring enjoyment and comfort, the ambiance of warm glows and welcoming vibes of history as you look around the restaurant, it begs to tell a story of yesterday, then the star of the show arrives: Enter the appetizers, entree’s and desserts that somehow transport us from the daily grind to a slower pace to enjoy how it feels to lucky be able to share and spend time together enjoying a wonderful dining experience together! Laughter, happiness and just being in the moment. Staff is always glowing with steps of hospitality and flavors that never disappoint the tastebuds. The Owner is Always Present and is Easily Accessible to Talk with. A True Hands on Restauranteur at its Finest. Most owners tell you what to do, in this case He shows you how it’s Done and Does it Well. That warm glow inside the building just makes you want to stay just a little bit longer. It just doesn’t get any better than this.

Heidelberg is my favorite German restaurant in the region. HB is a great beer to have on draft and the cozy atmosphere brings me right back to my travels through Germany. The Schnitzel and Wurst options are delicious and the hidden surprise is the dill potato soup. Don’t question it. Trust me you will be glad you tried it. My only request is to add obatzde as an option with the pretzel and then it would really be complete. Seriously, this place is great!!

10/10 from these Canadians! Great vegetation options. Everything was so delicious! German upside down cake was a dream (do it! Don't think twice)! Loved the cozy vibe and beer options.

Went for the first time and it was excellent. Small restaurant but very cozy and the ambience made us feel like our trips to Europe. We had the sauerbraten and the Bavarian schnitzel and they were one of the best we've had. We try to hit most the German style places when traveling and this was one of our top. We will be back next time in town.

First time here but not the last. We just had a fantastic dinner at the Heidelberg Restaurant. Heather was wonderful and showed us dinner options on the iPad which was very helpful. I'm a visual person, so seeing the entrees really helped since I'm not familiar with German dishes. The staff was very friendly and you can definitely see that people are not only drawn to the food, but also to the comforting atmosphere. We all enjoyed it, especially sampling the different beers. We highly recommend the Heidelberg! ****And don't forget the Dessert!! OMG. 😋 We'll be back again soon! Thank you!

We finally had the opportunity to experience the Heidelberg...we ordered and ate every bite of German Mac and Cheese with Spatzle German Noodles, Loaded German Fries, Bavarian Pork Schnitzel and a Bavarian Chicken Schnitzel. Their food is delicious and we will be repeat customers with recommendations to all!

W O W. I’ve only been here two times and the food both times have been outstanding! The authenticity of the building is just so nice and it feels like your in a real German Tavern. The potato pancakes and the Schnitzel were absolutely amazing. Hope to be coming here a lot more!

Cozy German restaurant with authentic German dishes and house roasted deli meats. Plus German beers on tap. The owner is also super knowledgeable about German cuisine and culture. Definitely stop by when you're in the Lake George area.

If your game is pork, potatoes, bacon, and beer, then this is your place to play. Schnitzels prepared in a variety of ways, including pretzel beaded for Oktoberfest. Deliciously tender schweinshaxe (pork shank) with crispy skin. Maybe a little too much bacon beer gravy for my veins. Rösti reuben - corned beef, cheese, sauerkraut over potato pancake. Hold the Russian dressing please, it’s a German place. Weihenstephan and Hofbräu beers on tap. Support local establishments and international cuisine!! We visited after riding the Lake George - Glens Falls bike path.

Found this restaurant by chance. Having lived in Germany for over a decade, i was hoping for some good German food here. The food was good but they were overcooked a bit. Everything we ordered felt like was overcooked. Not that it tasted bad. Overall good experience.

The food and service was excellent. Everything we had tonight was delicious. I had the German Tour and really enjoyed the sauerbraten! I would easily order it again. The beef au jus with the horseradish sauce is a must have. We also orded the special which was a pork schnitzel with ham, cheese and a bacon sauce on top of it. My recommendation would be get more German beers on tap. Other than that, everything was great. Will be coming back.

Old Heidelberg Inn restaurant.... Update: while not the absolute worst we have had, definitely NOT the best nor in the top contenders Original: Eh jury still out. Right now, they are borderline. One person who is obviously overwhelmed, help just arrived. The interior is quaint and reminds me of the German guest house Restaurants. Drinks Very limited Bier is available, but did not try. Pepsi products ($2.50 with one refill, which was never offered or given) oh, wait she waited until almost the end, when I was asking for the check. Salad arrived prior to Appetizer, not quite sure why. Appetizer: The Stuttgart- Pretzel was ok, a tad too salty. The Brat had good flavor. The Bierkäße on the other hand, was heated up poorly and had as such separated and became watery. Main Entree- Wiener schnitzel Very non-descript, and bland. Zero flavor. It was tender however. Usually you have some sort of flavor - from the veal to something in the breading. The salad was basic house, and the German potato salad while tart was missing something. The only saving grace was the vinegar. And speaking of breading.. hahahaha keep reading... German Sampler Platter A slice of bread in place of any type of traditional brötchen. I dubbed it the wonder-bread brötchen. Hahahaha The Brat - was good flavor (again) The Knock- was ok, And the Brauen - ok Sauerkraut was ok but not very bitey. And they forgot the potato pancake, of which we were to be up-charged. And now it's being readied for take home, and looks like a hash-brown, and has similar taste. Overall, it was a sub-par dining experience. And not worth a second trip.

The waitress was very kind and accommodating. However, the food wasn't great and portions were really small for the price. A note to the person cooking, there are tons of good recipes online for a real german potato salad which is not complicated at all, I don't know how you manage to make a horrible potato salad.

Our family visited from out of town. In fact, we were all in from different states. We all decided to meet for dinner at Heidelberg. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a man, which by looking at their fb page, I now know was the owner. He was less than welcoming. A few of us came a bit before our reservation time. We intended to have a drink prior to the rest of the family getting there. As we told the man our plans, he did not seem to like the idea. He wanted to seat us right away. We proceeded to the bar. He walked over several times. We asked to have a table inside once the rest of our party got there. It was raining and a bit chilly outside. This man went on and on about out how he has to keep tables open inside for people that walk in and how reservations have been booked and filled since the day prior (only one other party came in the entire time we were there). Keep in mind, we had a reservation! We were so stunned by his demeanor, we would have left. However, the other part of our party was enroute and we are not familiar with the area to find a new restaurant so quickly. I will say the bartender and our server were quite lovely. The food was good. But, this man (the owner) left such a bad impression. I was in the restaurant business for years and am astonished by the complete lack of customer service he carried. I'm quite sure there will be some sort of snarky reply to this review, just as the prior reviews and replies I've read. However, the customer service or lack of really needs to be addressed here. Otherwise, you will not have return customers. My family will not be back and this restaurant is lucky to have made the hundreds of dollars we spent there! ***Editing to add a reply to the snarky comment I predicted from the owner. We did not have a reservation for outside. We simply had a reservation! The restaurant was not busy. As I stated in the above, ONE table came in the entire time we were there. You, sir, need to work on your demeanor! It's very off putting and quite frankly disgusting!

I heard a lot about the Hydelburg throughout the years . I am of German ,Dutch and Scandinavian decent .I am known for authentic German cooking .My husband is a chef of 40 years. We went on 8/25 for my birthday . I have never been so disappointed in restaurant . There was nothing complimentary I could say about it .I am not a beer drinker that looked good ,and maybee if I drank several the food would taste better. I ordered what what amounted to a pork short rib .witch was suppose to be prepared to resemble the German pork knuckle .Not by far ! Pic included . I got a shank on a plate with a type of gravy and three sprigs of lettuce on a plate for 31 dollars and a potatoes pancake they called it. The meat was most likely stuck in the smoker and liquid smoke flavor added to the meat .it hurt eating it .the so called potatoes pancake cake was thin it had a shiny appearance. So thin no taste or potatoes consistency soggy in the middle. I make them all the time .never would I serve that to my family. My son got a side of German potatoes salad .they need to stop calling it that.it was cubed potatoes with a vinegar and super drizzle some wheres with a few small pieces of bacon .again not at all what would be served at home let alone charging for it . There mock chicken cordon blue snitzel again thin .flimsy no taste chicken was not cooked right or a proper texture . Fry's served with it soggy ,mushy , taste like they attempted to make the vinegar Fry's like I do often . They should not be mushy. The cook dose not have the skills on texture . All in all it was real scheiBe "sounds like shizer" I let the waitress no we were displeased she smiled in my face dismissed me and said Im so glad you enjoyed. I hope this is not her life long career. Will never go back , would never recommended .there is a new German American restaurant just a mile and a half up the road . I hear very good about . Price , portions , quality of food , staff attentiveness is all severely lacking
