Another Redding must! If you haven't treated yourself to this local gem, you have no idea what you're missing. Excellent food, best wait staff, you owe it to yourself and your family to dine here.
Nice hole in the wall eatery. Portions were good and food tastes great. Interesting atmosphere. The left half is a diner the right half is like a bar. Only con is the location, it's at a weird intersection and the neighborhood felt a little sketchy, but I am from out of town, so I don't really know.
Third time there, twice for my wife's office parties and once for breakfast with the wife. Every time the food has been excellent.
Been going here for over 30 years. Showed up last Saturday around 11AM. The entire place was packed and lively. We went to the bar and got a booth right away though. Atmosphere was next level friendly and fun. The service was great and the food came out fast and was good.
Been meaning to come in here for years. Finally made it in for drinks. 4 pm, the lounge wasn’t crowded. I had a Bloody Mary (x2) and an order of fries. Two others in my party ordered drinks and breakfast food; I love that breakfast is available all day! Everything tasted hot, fresh, and delicious. The service was excellent. Our server was so friendly and attentive. Definitely plan on returning.
Stopped in for a quick meal on a Saturday night with the family. The first thing I noticed, for being an older establishment, it was very clean. The atmosphere was chill, especially for a saturday night. They split the diner up from the bar and more formal restraunt giving you some options. We chose the diner because we had 3 little amped up kids. The service was fantastic. Not pushy, very attentive, had good suggestions and friendly with the kids. Drink refills came before running out, special drinks were made for the kids since they didn't have the strawberry lemonade. Now for the important part, the food. This was the best diner food I have had in a verrrry long time. Probably since the 90s. The burgers were large and cooked to perfection, light and fluffy. My wife ordered the blue cheese bacon burger and the flavors had a perfect balance. I ordered the prime rib sandwhich with onion rings, although the sandwhich was a little small, the prime rib was so tender and delicious and it came with enough onion rings that I still ended up nice and full. They serve breakfast all day and my 6 year old got the french toast and it was huge! She ate the whole thing (minus a couple bites I snuck). It was also cooked perfectly, not dense and I could taste all the flavors I expect from a quality french toast. The other 2 shared a burger and fries and they were happy too. The kids burger comes plain, so they know how kids like it! As for price, it's not exactly cheap, we managed to get a pretty cheap meal (about $100 for 5 people) but if you want some of their fancier dishes it can get pretty pricey but from out experience, it's worth it! Will definitely return!
You must try the Monte Cristo sandwich if you like sweet and savory. It was one of the best I have had. The prices are reasonable. Better than Sweeties all around we all thought. They also have a full bar! The atmosphere is really cute, comforting, and has a vibe that takes you back. We recommend this diner and we will be returning.
Friendly service. I sat at the counter which was comfortable with plenty of room. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was amazing. That is all. Lol. The sourdough toast was extremely delicious too and It was a thicker cut not typical at most diners. They have a separate bar area for adults which would have been fun 10 years ago. I will definitely be back!
We ordered the Lulu's Steak Diane, and the Deep Fried Prawns. They were delicious. The steak was cooked as I ordered. My soup was beef barley, and was sooo good. Our waitress was nice and very helpful. This is one of the great old restaurants in Redding. Every time I have returned, the food and service were outstanding. 5-26-22 Picked up "to go" phone order today. The service was great. Food was great. Keeping them a 5 star!
An historic Redding dining establishment with two sides: (a) classic, old school, greasy spoon diner on one side (with red patent leather booth and counter seating); and (b) wood paneled, saloon-style lounge on the other. The novelty alone of this time capsule of a restaurant is worth a visit. Breakfasts stick-to-your-bones and are not light; check the diet at the door. Pork Chop (egg-batter fried) with three eggs, choice of home fries or hash browns and toast make for a filling start for any lumberjack or driver loading up on calories for a long-haul. Friendly service, with an elusive history of its owner-founder.
It was loud, crowded, and hard to hear the members of our party. Someone turned the speaker on/up right over our heads, which made our communications even more difficult. Food was good, we enjoyed it.
They have been in business in Redding for a long time. Coffee shop, full bar lounge, and a dining room. Food is good and fresh with a generous portion. The wait staff is helpful and attentive, making sure your food is right and you drinks are full Prices aren't terrible for what you get but the drinks, meaning Sodas, tea, are a bit high. The coffee shop area is bright and it allows you to people watch as the restaurant is at a major intersection. From cars driving by to hobo fights, and yelling vagrants, it is entertaining to look out the windows. The lounge is smaller and kind of tight to move around in. It is also dark (as a lounge should be) with several tvs for sporting events. They also serve food in the bar.
Lulu's has a full diner beside their restaurant, a full bar, as well as separate family banquet dining rooms. Lulu's serves delicious american cuisine. I enjoyed the spaghetti with garlic bread. The Clam chowder was also very delicious. The decor and vibe is retro 50's with plush red vynil. All the Lulu's staff take great care of their customers, as they are polite, professional, and provide insightful menu recommendations. I was told the fish & chips are amazing, so i'll probably give that a try upon my next trip to Lulu's in Redding CA. Bring your friends and family to Lulu's and enjoy.
Breakfast here was magically delicious. Everything's was cooked perfectly and we both mud yum noises as we ate. The coffee was also top notch. Service was slow. We were third in the door and it was 20m before our order was taken and 45 by the time we got food. Friendly and mistake free, but slow. They had two screens of sports which really killed the potential atmosphere. This could easily be a five star breakfast stop with just a couple changes.
I know ya'll know somebody that a restaurant like this will remind you of. It is reminiscent of a diner in Eureka, CA called Stanton's that is now an expired icon of said city. It is full of old people and the occasional oddball (like myself) who wants to eat dinner at 5:30 p.m.. I ordered the halibut with green beans and rice pilaf. The fish was sturdy and flaky yet still moist. The green beans were flavorful and still had the crunch like they should. The rice pilaf was.. rice pilaf. It was good for someone who doesn't normally like it. The coffee was kept hot and the water came cold. Lil' Lulu (iykyk ) was my server and she was awesome! She was very friendly and attentive to all who came in. Garbed with a cartoon cat apron.... she made me feel as though I was in the right place. It's a pretty chill environment: walkers, canes, and weirdos are all welcome. Don't pass it up as it is a little tricky if you haven't been here before. P.S. Compliments to the chef and those behind the scenes.
I hate to give them 2 stars but I'm left with no choice, the food was pretty bad, not sure if it was a bad day or what but the food experience was not too great. I also ordered a bloody "Maria" and it was so spicy that I just could not consume it, so I had to return it in exchange for a margarita. Not sure if I'd be back?
This place just served me raw country style potatoes! Stop yourself before entry. Trendy’s is much better and probably the best breakfast in Redding.
Food is fine. Just make sure you bring your own drink inside with you. Because they won't come back to the table to ask if you need anything.
Really rude people. I hear they have good food but I wouldn't know because they hung up on me 3 times. I was in the hotel next door and just wanted something quick but good. Every time I called and asked if I could order something to go they would hang up on me without a single word.
Breakfast...Biscuits and gravy, hash browns, bacon, x 2 and OJ. Coffee The Biscuits were good but obviously not made on site. The gravy? came in a small bowl, about a half cup. Expected to cover 2 good size Biscuits. The gravy had absolutely NO sausage in it. Just a water an flower gravy with 0 flavor. The hash browns were dry and very chewy. The bacon was good. The OJ was room temperature and no water served. Coffee was weak and tasteless. $43.55 Needless to say. But, I won't be back.
