I really have grown to love this food the food looks just like the picture so i get the chicken quesadilla omg it was the best ever with cheese sour cream guacamole also there rice is good there nachos are the best in town chicken so I did get he enchilada dinner I think ground chicken would work better and ground beef because the grilled meet makes it fall apart but it was very good now the prices are the best if you get nachos and another plate or a dinner and another plate you got food all day and they give you a salad on the side ok there drinks there horchata got me hooked . I want to say this is a great well priced place and you will enjoy your food

I love this taqueria. The food is great… they also have different type of tacos and bowls. Sometime there is not enough seats, but don’t worry, you may find a seat soon. Also, be aware that this place is popular and you may need yo wait for your order for a while, so if you are tight on your time, you can order online before heading up towards the palce.

I go atleast once a week! Never disappoints! Ask for the Tucán Nachos (thank me later). Staff is nice.

I have been here once, I enjoyed my tacobarría, the only thing was that they didn't serve it with the broth! We all know barría needs it's caldito! 😋 lol

Great food and variety. They get really busy, there is some seating outside, there's no inside access. You order through a window. Parking can be difficult in the lot when they're busy. But the food is worth the trouble.

Had a wonderful super burrito con camarones. Exceedingly flavorful and delicious. Came with chips. My friend had two tacos but was flabbergasted by their size: Tiny. I told her they were what's known as street tacos. And she loved them, even though they were slightly bigger than silver dollars. Only concern was the wind -- the three tables were in the sun but the wind whipped in and made the small al fresco eating area cold. So we sat on the tall red metals chairs that were thankfully bolted to the concrete floor. This small alcove protected patrons from the wind but the area is narrow and made navigating a tad difficult for us old folks.

The food here is awesomeeee, it tastes really good and if you're not sure what to eat, there's an awesome staff who can lead you to a good option or in my experience, I combined receipts to eat something I thought I like and I ended up loving it.

this place is absolutely fire. House made tortillas make a big difference, and ordering the burrito Dorado (golden, fried in butter) was a delightful experience. the quesotacos are a must try, especially the shrimp ones. My buddy introduced me to this place but I live at least 50 minutes away and now it's torture knowing it's out there and I can't have it often. It had a line, be prepared to wait but it's absolutely worth it.

Great Burritos, tacos, and quesabirria! Tucan fries are super filling too if you're looking for a big meal. As for the atmosphere, there is no indoor dining but there's outdoor heating which makes up for it

So good we went back again the next day. Orders are made fresh to order so give yourself extra time during peak hours. Parking is tough in the evening so walk if you can. The crowd don’t lie!

Pretty good. Tried asada, pollo, adobada, and their birria without cheese. The adobada was the star taco for sure, followed by pollo then asada. All the meats need a little seasoning and lime. Their green salsa was great on the adobada. The tortillas are good too, they make them in house and they’re a great vessel for the meats. Also tried their horchata, it was too sweet for me, but maybe their fruit ones are more balanced. All in all, that’s the best al pastor taco (adobada) I’ve had in the Bay Area and I will be back for more of those. Good pastor is few and far between, and good tacos in the city are pretty rare if not impossible these days.

My new favorite taco place and would recommend if you have time to burn, but wait times for your food are quite long. Their red tacos with adobada are my favorite, and the chicken is a solid second. Their salsas are great, especially the roasted tomato salsa (middle one), and the complimentary curtido too.

This place ALWAYS delivers in quality and taste! I got the quesabirria combo and agua de Jamaica. My partner got the shrimp tacos, mulita de pastor and the agua de horchata. Everything was absolutely delicious and this is definitely a place I return to and bring people to!

Great spot for classic California mex. I haven’t been through as much of the menu I’d like but appreciate the Birria Tacos, Shrimp Tacos and Carne Asada burrito. Usually a bit of a line but it moves quick, nice to have the option to dine outside. Definitely an gem and anchor for some great new spots this side of San Pablo Ave.

I have ordered catering from here twice now for my office. I usually order different meats and sides to build your own tacos. Not only is the food delicious and hot and fresh, but the service is great too! They are super quick and responsive and don't miss a thing. They provided plenty of sides like salsas and such as well as plates and utensils. I highly recommend Tacos El Tucan for catering or just a quick bite. The team is great!

The kind female worker with the nice gold glasses is a very hard worker and very intelligent and respectful.

I love their burritos, their bowls, literally anything I've tried here has been delicious. I would recommend ordering ahead of time because there is always a bit of a wait. But the wait is worth it.

5 stars for me! I ONLY want shrimp tacos. No other meat. I love looking for new shrimp taco spots around the bay. Googled best shrimp tacos in Richmond since I was out there. Many places popped up but they have the best reviews. Man o man, I was in shrimp taco heaven. I can get shrimp tacos 4 damn ways. Ive tried 3 of them, including the gluten free one. Yyyaaasss!! Hands down my favorite is the shrimp red taco. #2 is the shrimp quesataco. Amazeballs!!! I went on a Fri night for the first time. They're open til 2am Friday and Saturday. Then I went back the next day. Then I went Fri and sat for the next 3 weekends. Lordt! Melon agua Fresca is on point!! Shrimp always costs more but I was satisfied with what I paid. 2 shrimp red tacos and Agua Fresca was $14-15.

You pretty much don’t need to order anything but a couple quesatacos, but they have plenty of other good things too! My go-to is one chicken quesataco and one veggie quesataco. I’ve also had veggie burrito and aguafrescas. It’s all been great! Right when they open, there’s already a long line! So either get there early or ask them to start opening earlier… They should open earlier, like 11:30am, that would be great thanks byeeee If you choose to give a thumbs-up 👍🏽 or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

We were in town visiting and decided to try this spot. We enjoyed the food. We ordered the asada fries, cali burrito, shrimp taco and a chicken taco. The asada fries and cali burrito were delicious. Great flavors. There is only outdoor seating and the service was great when putting in the order for our meal. We did have to wait 20 minutes for our order to be ready. If we're in the area again, we'd come back.

Good food. Prices are a bit high, costs about 22 dollars for a burrito and a drink but justified with the taste. I will say, I ordered a california burrito once and did not get as many fries as one would expect. This is not enough to lower my rating overall, as a periodic visitor, but something to keep in mind.

Their food is awesome overall. From the mulita, pastor tacos, and their birria-consomme, everything is exceptional. What really got me hooked is the red burrito with carne asada. They're basically super burritos in red tortilla. Then you get their curtido condiment, which is basically pickled pineapples, red onions, turnips that's kicked up to a good spicy level. Heavenly delicious.

Best. Tacos. Ever. Delicious food and reasonable prices. We live somewhat nearby and it’s been a new regular spot for us! On weeknights if you order at the restaurant it’s a pretty quick 10min wait or so, but on the weekends (or Cinco de Mayo) the line can get pretty long so be prepared to hang out / wait. Courteous staff and good service.

First time here, i ordered the quesabirria combo and taco asada with a side of fries. Everything was good, and reasonably priced.

The food at this place was superb. I have never had Berria nachos before the toucan nachos were delicious my husband and son love the food there. We’re definitely going there from now on when we go through Richmond.

I’m super picky with my food and my favorite restaurant was about 55 minutes away from where I live which made me upset sometimes. I found this place last week and thought to give it a try and my oh my why didn’t I come here sooner. Just had their food again tonight and they impressed me even more. Their food is absolutely to die for. Very well seasoned and FLAVOR which most restaurant lack but definitely this place has amazing FLAVOR in their cooking!! And they are generous with their portion sizes so you get a lot for your buck!! Their nachos were absolutely delicious and massive I ate it which my friend for dinner and still had a bit of leftovers.

I love that they took an old pup Hut which was corn dogs I think or something hot dogs and turned it into this delicious. Absolutely wonderful Mexican restaurant. Yeah you wait a long time but the food is so good and I love the fact that they're closed on Mondays. Living in the Bay area, we are blessed with amazing assortment of Mexican, Latin and South American foods. This one should go into your rotation! So enjoy!

San Rafael..... We have a winner! We have been waiting a while for this one to open, watching with great anticipation and I'm thrilled to say that this is the best in the city. I've been there twice, now. First time I had the Baja fish Taco plate. The beans and rice are also perfect. The battered fish is light and crispy and the tortillas are hand made in house! On our next visit we had Arrichera steak plate and tried the queso taco de Carnitas... All exquisite. The staff are also really nice. Andele' now!

Great spot for tacos! One of the best in the Bay Area. Reminiscent of the great taquerias in SoCal. I had the red shrimp tacos and the super burrito with carne asada. The burrito was good, but the red shrimp taco was the star of the show. It comes loaded with plump shrimp, melted cheese, slaw and sauce and is a great price for the big size ($4.95 each). I have to try the other tacos they have here, and birria. Group indoor seating is limited (saw 3 tables), there are stalls though.

I gave 5/5 starts because it’s good food! I order tacos al pastor and I got a Jamaica drink it’s too sweet it’s OK! But next time I would love to go there for my lunch time and dinner!

Food was very delicious! They are also pretty quick cooking the food. You are able to order ahead through a 3rd party which makes it pretty convenient! All they have is covered outside seating at this location. They have good portions and presentation is good too. I like this location better than the San Francisco one, even though the San Francisco location is still good.

This place has really good food. I tried their tacos, the mulitas, and their fries. Personal opinion, the steak tacos and the chorizo with the avocado salsa is the way to go. The second time I went 😁, I tried the quesabirrias, they sound expensive, but they are worth the price. Long story short... Yes, I recommend this place!!

This was my first time here, and everything was hella good! The red taco with shrimp had plenty of plump delicious shrimp. The Red Birria Burrito also was 💣! So damn good that I can't wait to return for more. I heard that the line can get long along with the wait. Luckily, I only had three people ahead of me, but the wait was about ten minutes.

Adobada is so good would def recommend!! Got a mulita with adobada (and pineapple ofc) and it hit the spot. The tortillas are fresh and handmade. Food can take a second to come out but they warned me at the counter. Seating is pretty limited but they have their own parking lot.

My wife and I got 3 carne asada tacos, 1 al pastor taco and 1 carne asada super quesadilla... Everything was very good! I'm from San Francisco (but live in the South Bay) and one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, was Taqueria Menudo, in the excelsior. Been eating there since I was little. That place had the best super quesadillas! They closed like 10 years ago. I really missed their quesadillas. Every place I went to, I couldn't get that taste. That was till we found El Tucan, last night. On our way back, from Six Flags and wanting Mexican food. I was just looking on Google maps and saw this one had a lot of reviews. Decided to try and I am glad we did. They have to open a restaurant in the South Bay!! I swear I'll be there all the time. Hands down the best

This is the best I’ve had in the Bay Area! Yes, the lines and wait time can be long depending on the time of day. I lucked out this time and had my food within about 5 minutes. I will say though that I have waited 20 minutes before and it’s worth the wait. I always get the carne asada tacos. I tried a chicken taco this time. Pretty good. Nothing beats the asada though! I highly recommend this place!

I got one quesabirria and two shrimp tacos and they were delicious. The only downside was I waited 20 minutes for them. I really wanted to order more but didn’t want to wait. So order a lot, the first time. My taco also came with only one tortilla, which I assume is part of the Tijuana style. The place is popular and has a small amount of parking. There’s nice, outdoor heated seating but no in-shop seating.

Hand made tortillas melt in your mouth. My favorite is the shrimp taco! Also, the pineapple agua is sooo refreshing.

In the area visiting my Mom. 1st time at Tacos El Tucan and it was awesome. I ordered a chicken taco, steak taco & shrimp taco with a side of rice. I passed by the day before but couldn't find a parking space. It was a long wait (30mins) but it was worth it. I'll back on my next visit!

Pretty decent spot. Not a ton of outdoor seats, but could adjust. Food’s pretty good - you get what you pay for, I guess. Staff’s are nice. It’s worth checking out, it could be hit or miss but most of the time the food is worth the visit.

Food wasn't quite ready when I arrived. The red burrito I ordered was definitely tasty, but wasn't crispy and did not come with the consome. The burrito was also rolled with some of the aluminum foil underneath the tortilla. All that said, I still plan to come back, perhaps when they are less busy.

This place is busy at dinner time for a reason. I love the shrimp red tacos! When I ask about gluten they don't bat an eye and are able to answer. If the person at the window doesn't know, they get me help with another staff member. They have simple outdoor seating with wind breaks which is awesome. Good for a quick stop. Food is great! Will keep coming back.

These guys are making great food, but they’re always in the weeds with these 30 minute wait times. Even longer on weekends. It may be difficult for them to get more chefs in the kitchen. Their carne asada is great, and so is their shrimp. But just be prepared to wait awhile. If you want faster tacos and burritos, there are lots of great options on 23rd. I really hope Tucan can somehow expand to take on the demand. They’re clearly popular, but these wait times are not fun.

I had the quesobirria tacos with consome, when I tell you I foodgasm'd!!! The consome was savory so I knew the tacos would be too, and they were. Boyfriend had a chicken, a carne asada and an al pastor, his favorite was the chicken. He did not love all the guac-sauce they smothered his tacos in, but we would both definitely come here again, just gotta remember to say guac-sauce on the side. The best part? He finally found a place that makes agua de fresa just how he loves!! My horchata was pretty bomb too!! My only con? It was windy and cold AF! So I wish their outside heaters had been on.

One of the best if not the best asadas around. Nice to have a menu with some different options like quesatacos in the east bay; but the meat is so good that arguably the plain tacos are the best way to try it. Was a very long wait for the food which made it hard to say "worth it" given the other great options around, but will for sure try to come back at a less busy time.

I love this place and you will too. Today was my first issue ever here. I ordered the adobada burrito with no cheese and no crema which is effing delicious. Today after driving home I began my burrito to find crema. I am super lactose intolerant and was rather frustrated. I couldn't get them on the phone to ask them what happened- just a busy signal over and over. Everything is usually perfect from these folks and the flavors are always fantastic. Wish I could eat my burrito and that I hadn't discovered the crema by eating a couple bites. Please try them out because they are delicious but kinda upset about my burrito... I was so excited for my adobada.

First time I went here, I just wasn't that impressed by their tacos, maybe because my standard for Tacos is Taqueria El Paisa on E.14th (International) and 47th in Oakland. Hard act to follow. But today I thought I'd give one of their burritos a try, and was surprised! The al Pastor is really tasty, and the burritos well put together! I think I'll come back and take another stab at their Taco game

I've been here a few times, ordering is simple both in person and online. The service is quick. Parking is limited. Dining is only outdoors so warmer weather is ok for dining at least for me who hates cold. I just order to go during colder weather. I wish the super burritos had avocado but other than that I recommend.

I was always curious when the transformation of an old Pup Hut turned to a taco joint. I have found my go to Mexican places and never thought to cross this one as I had sentimental reminders of my childhood here. When I finally parted ways with my childhood friend (Pup Hut) and the interest in seeing crowds in line whenever I passed by, I decided to give them a chance. I went for something simple. My guideline when determining if I like a place is I always get one item that I favor at restaurants and if I like my favorite then it’s the green light that I will like other items in menus. So this day I got a taco, minus the meat, added tomato. From the time I ordered to the time received was quick being that there were orders ahead of mine. The quality of ingredients is sooo fresh. I love my veggies crispy and their homemade tortilla tastes like you’re welcomed to an abuelitas home.

I originally thought this restaurant was great, but after coming here a couple of times, they have messed up my order almost always. I always have a simple order: a rice bean and cheese burrito. As simple as it seems, they seem to mess it up nearly every time. The people are nice and the salsa is good, but there is often a long line. Overall, I wouldn’t say it was bad, but it wasn’t very good.

The food here is bomb, it’s always good and the quality is high for the prices. That being said, the service is atrocious. For a walk up window their wait times are insane and their staff is really disinterested in customer service. It genuinely seems like it’s inconvenient for them to take my money. I understand dealing with a constant high volume is intense, but it shouldn’t be taken out on the guests. Great food I just wish the whole establishment was ran better

Who runs out of rice? Kinda essential don't ya think?!. Edit; Left a one star earlier. Realized that was harsh. My wife ate here before and I had some of a burrito she brought home. It was good. Filled with meat and 4-5 star worthy. When we went just a few days ago they ran out of rice. Anyway had a few minutes so updated this, I will give it a try again and of course totally change this to 5 stars I hope. Trying to be fair.

I’m a little disappointed. Fast food is not cheap and my lunch break is only 30 minutes. There is very little meat and what is present, is burnt and hard. I’ve visited before and have never experienced such poor quality food. I won’t be back. Eating out is too pricy for these types of mistakes. I guess I should’ve eaten in the lot?

Food was absolutely delicious. The tacos were flavorful and the salsa had a kicker. But there is no good place to sit. The ambiance is more of a get your food and get lost kinda place. And the wait for the food is at least 25-30 mins. They don’t have a restroom and you have to go to the waffle place next doors to use the restroom. Overall experience is a B- if and when they decide to improve their service and make the place more eat in friendly they have potential to be an A+ place. Either way, if you order ahead and pick up, this is an absolute kick ass foodie place

I loved this place ever since my coworker from the City of Richmond has taken me here. Always come to get some Shrimp Red Taco when I am in the area. But the last time my food was burnt & today was too.

Food overall is really good but they take for ever to serve the food. Even when the place is empty its gonna take like 40 minutes. so make sure you go with enough time. Not your regular 1 hour lunch spot. Also this is how their “chiles tatemados” look.

Wanted to see the hype of this place. At 7pm, long line, wait was 45 minutes on a Wednesday evening. Finally got my tiny tacos and cali burrito. It was lukewarm. Taste like a warmer version of Chipotle burrito. Having had cali burritos of LA, this is weak, not worth my time or taste.

Their tacos are decent. Burritos below average. Asada fries, nastiest fries I’ve had. Tomato tasted like it was cut and put in the fridge for several weeks. Asada wasn’t good. Fries tasted like they were frozen (store bought). The cheese wasn’t even melted either. On top of all that it was like 2$ (15$) more than everywhere else and had less food compared to everywhere else. Please lower the price because your shi ain’t good

I ordered two taco plate on Uber eats twice and they only gave me one plate when I paid for two the two times I did order tried to call them and they deliberately not answer their phone and then took it off the hook DO NOT I MEAN DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM ON UBER EATS THEY DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND WILL NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONE AT ALL UNPROFESSIONAL

I am mortified very angry irritated and offended!!! I ordered delivery cuz I work late night shifts at the post office my delivery order went to the front of the building where security said ask if my order had been dropped off and the security guard said no so I went to stand outside to wait for the driver low and behold on the ground in front of the building was my food place on the ground in front of the building that order could have been picked up by anybody didn't get a phone call didn't get a text nothing didn't even approach the security guard to leave the food at the security guard station left my food on the ground in front of the post office building. Never ever will I order from these people or use their service ever again whoever the delivery driver was or is shame on you absolutely shame on you! How dare you leave my food on the ground in front of the building that I work at for anybody to take the food step on it throw it away whatever and no contacts no contact letting me know you're there nothing. I have no other words no other words at all. And of course the restaurant is posting out so I can't even call to file a complaint or to make a company with them and get my money back cuz I'm definitely going to let me know please please do not use this service to not use their service unless you want your food left on the ground in front of your building or just left on the ground.

Very poor service I waited over 30 minutes for 2 carne asada tacos and rice & beans. I requested a refund after waiting over 30 minutes, after a few minutes the lady came back to the windows and said your order is ready. I responded o asked for a refund and she just walked away. I posted a review on yelp they had removed. I will continue to post my negative experience on any platform I can. Bad service is bad service.

Service is good but food is horrible!!! Who told you that tacos comes with a horrible green dressing and parsley???!!!! Real tacos comes with meat onion and cilantro and sala, nothing else except lime!!!! Meat is goood, is just that disgusting dressing with parsley that ruined the flavor of the taco!! I was treated in a very rude manner. I waited over 30 minutes for my food. Several numbers were called before me. My food was thrown into a bag and was lukewarm. 2 shrimp in the taco. Soupy as nachos. I paid $31 and given very little salsa. In fact, the woman did not even bother asking me how many. She also avoided eye contact. Although I frequent this restaurant, I am greatly rethinking future visits. I’m unsure of why I was treated this but I pay money like the rest. Please value your African American customers. Their food is so delicious but their service sucks. Don’t make a mistake on your order and then when you come back so they can fix it. They don’t even wanna fix it and they said although you don’t write that you don’t want that and when you ask for guacamole, they said well we have to charge you even though they made a mistake on the order and you have to wait.
