Extremely solid So-Cal-style Mexican food. Restaurant can get a little cramped when busy but the food is well-presented and made with care. Their salsas are amazing - their Serrano salsa is one of my all-time favorites and among the best in the Inland Empire - and pack a bit of a punch, so be careful. The dishes are not exotic but are well-known and well-cooked staples. Well worth trying.

This restaurant is my new favorite Mexican place to go to here in Riverside! You get your money's worth! And the hot sauce is delicious! There's three spicy ones. The best one is the green guacamole looking one. Try the Al pastor torta and you will be glad you went there! Portions are big!!

El Habanero is pretty awesome. Love the staff, they always remember us and that's a nice touch. It's a small location but does have a few benches to sit and eat. Most people take orders to go. Burritos and nachos are our go-tos. Food is great for the price. Hot sauce is fairly hot, even the mild, so we usually just get the mild. See you guys again soon.

Food is kind of pricy but well worth it asada fry’s is to die for and the burritos are packed with meat from top to bottom (pause) but the horchata is out of this world money well spent definitely worth every penny

I ordered the seafood enchilada and it was huge. It was filled with lots of shrimp, mild fish, and vegetables. The sauce was to die for. It had sliced avocados on top. I really enjoyed it. The meal came with rice and beans. For around $14.00, it was a steal. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. I am glad that we were seated in the front of the restaurant facing University Avenue. That section of the restaurant is bright with natural light and has a nice ambiance. The other section can get a bit noisy.

Kind friendly staff eager to help and the best tacos for taco Tuesday! They're one of the few places left that actually have a good taco Tuesday deal. I don't spend much time inside because I always take out but they're take-out is quick, well prepared, and well packaged. Super glad to have found this spot, not many small businesses survived covid so I feel blessed to have hella bomb tacos whenever I want!

Honestly, they've gotten even better with everything here. Customer service, food taste etc. Whenever I call them, they answer and the lady is always super nice and fulfills my food requests from DoorDash! They’ve even thrown in a free soda for me a couple of times. I’m in love with their wet burritos. I recommend them if you’re in Riverside.

Very delicious food. The salsa verde mild is by far one of my favorites. The tostadas and asada fries were also amazing. We have been here a few times and the food is always consistent. The young lady attending us on Dec. 4th was by herself but she managed to attend us very well.

My daughter and I stopped By expecting small portions. We were both surprised with how big the portions were. The red enchilada sauce is how I remember tasting when my grandma made it. The taco salad was amazing!! It was topped with red onions which you dont get everywhere. We sat and ate outside at night and just had a nice dinner together. The beans were not dry, they were creamy and delicious. I would most defiantly go there again.

Their street tacos were very good. Good quality beef for an amazing price. Even though it was the end of the day and were technically out of horchata, they made a small batch for us anyway. Nice small and clean place with friendly staff. I will be returning again, frequently.

I was craving a burrito and was in the area for work. Found El Habanero on Google Maps and decided to try it out based on the reviews. It's a small place but easy to find. Had to wait a few minutes to order but it was worth it. I got the Chili Verde burrito and it was great! I rang the bell when I left (You'll see) and I'll definitely be back for more.

Taco Tuesday was amazing? Small building so be prepared to stand waiting for your food to go. The wait isn't too long but there is a bit of a wait. Definitely worth the wait! This was my first time here and me and my family loved it. We got fish, carnitas, shredded beef & chicken tacos.... Delicious! Will be going back this Tuesday 🤩

This Mexican restaurant is on point, every time I have come here they have been very nice and made you feel good walking out the door, the food they make is absolute fire, it was so good today that I might even skip dinner. I wouldn’t worry about what to order because everything they make it’s so good that you’ll want to slap your mother.

When I arrived they had just added some new menu items so I had the privilege of being the first to order the new "abracadabra" California burrito and HOT DAMN it was GOOD! It was 11 bucks after tax but it's huge and it can easily feed two adults. The sauces are great too. I really like the creamy green sauce they gave me. The staff is friendly. I'm definitely coming back for more.

I was in the mood for a burrito and this place was on my radar for a minute so I stopped by. They have sofritas, which is scrambled vegan tofu! So good and seasoned really well. So I ordered a veggie burrito, no cheese or sour cream, with sofritas. And a Street Taco. That came to about $9 bucks. With covid-19 happening, everyone waits outside. I highly recommend calling in your order for pick up. But the wait wasn’t too long. Everything was great! Oh there were fries in my burrito, but it added to the yumminess. Would go here again. Oh and the workers are really nice too.

Found this close by where I was working. Inside was clean. Ordered the carnitas torta special which came with fries. Tortas was good, meat great, salsa great, fries came pretty much unsalted, which is my only gripe.

We’re visiting Riverside from Tulsa Oklahoma. Looking for a good Cali breakfast burrito. El Habañero did not disappoint! My son had the chorizo breakfast burrito… The chorizo was full of flavor, and not dry like some others we have had. I got the Machaca breakfast burrito… It had delicious grilled onions and jalapeños with shredded meat, egg, potato, and cheese. The Serano salsa they make had a nice kick to it and added a bit of creamy texture. Staff was friendly and attentive, at least at the time when we were there, which was not too busy around 10:30am on a Saturday morning. I can highly recommend this place for the breakfast burritos!

Ordered a shredded beef burrito, fried jalapeño and chips and salsa via Grubhub. This meal was delicious and writing this while not even done eating. The burrito is so good and their green sauce is perfect. Definitely throw in an order of fried jalapeño for $1.50. They are so good!!! Salsa has a nice kick to it. Super happy with my meal and will definitely order again next time I’m in the area.

"This is the best burrito I have had since we moved to California" -my boyfriend (who ordered a carne asada burrito.) It wasn't on the menu, but I ordered a veggie burrito. It was AMAZING. I am happy to report that this place has vegan/vegetarian options, as well as meat options! Big portions, especially for the price. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They hooked me up with a bomb burrito that wasn't on the menu due to my dietary restrictions without any judgement! The man that helped us was fantastic. Definitely a hidden gem! I definitely recommend this place.

I tried 4 different tacos (chile verde, asada, shredded beef, and chicken) and their carne asada fries! We ordered a half size of the carne asada fries and when I saw them... I couldn't believe how huge the serving was. Everything was delicious!! And on Tuesdays... tacos are $1.00! I'll definitely be back!

$1 tacos every Tuesday. There's usually a wait but it's well worth it. They have four types of sauces which they can put in small containers for you to take to-go. My favorite meat for tacos here is cabeza. They also have a stamp card so regulars here are rewarded. Paying with cash is the cheapest, since there is a 50 cent charge for using card. They used to have a public restroom but that's now employees only.

Good food, good service, reasonable prices. I brought a group of six and nobody left disappointed. My only complaint is the salsa. I like how it's served in squeeze bottles (very convenient), but the salsa roja had a bit of an... Asian taste to me. Almost like it was 10% Sriracha. Regardless, I'll go back next time I'm at Manheim nearby.

I always get the California burrito, add guac and rice and it's amazing! Particularly with their delicious hot sauces. However, there's been numerous times when I tried to call my order ahead because I'm short on time during lunch and no one answers the phone. It's extremely frustrating. I know you can order through various apps, but I'm fairly sure those apps take away from the restaurants profits so I don't like to use them. Also, the apps won't let me customize my order the way I like it. It's gotten to the point where I may just stop going here because I can never get a hold of someone to place my order. Hopefully they fix the problem.

Average food, so much competition in the Mexican food in this town and nothing to set this place apart. They have digital menus but put black tape on the screen over things they were out of?? No bathroom access! No beer... at least the server girl was nice. No reason to go back here.

Upon visiting this establishment with the expectation of enjoying quality Mexican cuisine, the experience did not fully meet those expectations. The chile relleno burrito, inclusive of a selected protein, beans, and rice, presented some shortcomings. Specifically, the carne asada within the burrito was perceived as somewhat tough. Furthermore, the wet bean and cheese component was not particularly favorable. Despite these aspects, the service provided was exceptional. Consequently, the overall rating for this establishment is three stars, with a five-star rating attributed to the outstanding service. Its also a very small taco shop. So space is limited!

There was a bone in the freaking burrito, like out of all things to have a bone in the burrito is so bad; the tacos were super greasy! It’s just way over priced! It takes good but it needs to be way less money! And I didn’t like the customer service either. Overall would not come back or recommend!

I've been here twice first time wasn't very impressed this time is okay definitely not ring the bell Worthy Salsa's good. Asada is kind of dry not that much flavor. But there are definitely a lot better Taco Tuesday places around that area.

I have eaten here 3 times. It's always less than stellar. There are no whole beans in the beans, and they were lukewarm. If you are a large person, you're probably going to have to eat outside. The booths are small and the tables don't move.

These were the worst breakfast burritos. I waited about 25 minutes for 2 bacon burritos & they were full of overcooked potatoes, maybe 1 egg & 1 piece of bacon, it was incredibly dry and definitely not worth the long wait.

Have been coming here for 4 years, usually get their asada fries and a torta special, today is the first time I ordered the same exact special I have been for 4 years and it did not include the drink, I asked as this was never the case, a girl I've never seen as cashier says none of them come with drinks, I understand the fries don't but usually when I get a torta special it's about 10 bucks because a drink is included with fries, well this one CAME WITH NO FRIES OR A DRINK, too bad I didn't notice there was any fries when I was in restaurant, as I usually take out and this has never happened, paid 31 dollars for 2 half orders of asada fries and 1 carnitas special that came with just the torta nothing else. Sad to say that after 4 years I will not be returning, I was just here 2 days ago and ordered the same exact items but apparently the items on the menu that I was ordering for 4 years have changed in a couple days. NOTE: IF YOU COME SUNDAY THEY CLOSE BY 2:50PM NOT 4PM LIKE THE LISTING STATES IN CASE YOU'RE THINKING OF MAKING THE DRIVE

This was one of my favorite places until covid 19. Food is not fresh anymore for example the meat is hard and dried up and forget about ordering nachos...the chips are stale as all get out. Just a waste of money at this point. Maybe, it will get better but I doubt it. This is my 3rd time getting bad service. I was a die hard fan, but it's time to move on 😣

We came in 20 mintues before they closed and the lady there said they closed the grill amd were cleaning it. And I asked the lady. "Don't you close at 10? Took an hour to get my food got some taquitos and they were cold the beef and said the taquitos wasn't even season my friend ordered a burrito not very good for 1 hour wait and my other buddy ordered some carne asada fries and they were also just average for a one-hour weight there was also a very mad customer who put in an online order and waited over an hour did not get his food and peeled out. Not a very pleasant experience would not recommend. I wouldn't even give it a 1/2 * but I have to give it some sort of star to submit this review.

Save your stomach the problem. Food horrible and cold. Cook did not where gloves while preparing food. Food was also very over priced. After eating part of our meal it caused us to have to go the bathroom. We were already at home when this happened thank God. We did even finish the food due to our stomach being upset👎👎👎👎👎. Ordered a carne asada burrito with guacamole cost 14 bucks and some change was not it.. very little meat in the burrito mostly rice and beans they also didn’t add the guacamole wasn’t worth driving back to tell them they messed up the order definitely would not try this food again

Waited roughly 10 to 15 minutes to get any service. Only on guy is cooking. Two girls look busy but not really doing much. they keep bothering the cook to dictate what they should do. Meanwhile, there is no friendly gestures of curtesy, such as "I'll be with you in 10 minutes" I couldn't stay and stare at them or figure out if they were open, I felt they didn't want my business. I wished I could at least taste the food. Prices seamed fair but I could not compare that either because I did see nor taste any food. Do I recommend this place? If you're retired and have nothing to do, maybe. Buy me something so I can try it out. I don't have time for these types of places... That's just me. My star is irrelevant.

Visited this location after reading great reviews about their Cali burritos. Completely disappointed with my burrito that came with only carne asada and stale French fries although I asked for the works. Definitely check your food before leaving the restaurant.

This place used to be good. My husband went and got some burritos and a torta for himself. Let me tell u the burritos had hardly any meat more rice and beans . Didn't taste like they added guacamole . His torta was more bread than anything . Dont waste ur money here .
