I specifically went there because a was going through a pasta withdrawal after watching the white-truffle-cacio-pepe episode on Landman a couple of weeks ago. Another reviewer had heaped praise on that dish at La Collins and, boy, did it deliver!! My son had their chicken dish and was really pleased at how good it was. Price was right, service was terrific and I will be back. Really awesome!!
This is a late review as I had visited during the summer but I wanted to leave a review since I said I would and had a good experience! The squid ink pasta was delicious. The house salad was also delicious and incredibly fresh. I also enjoyed the blondie dessert. Drinks were great. Hospitality from the owner was 5/5. Thank you, Don! Still dreaming about that pasta!!
Celebrated a birthday with my cousins was the best experience we’ve had. The food was absolutely incredible! Service was spectacular, Mario was just amazing. And to top it off with delicious dessert & French pressed coffee. Cannot wait to go back again, definitely an experience everyone should try.
Wow is the best word to describe this restaurant. The food, service and ambience was beyond our expectations. The bread and the eggplant dip that was included in our dinner was so delicious. Two of us had the filet mignon... amazing. And one on us had the seafood linguini that she said was superb. The Panna cotta and the lemon cake was so good. Even the French press coffee you couldn't have just one. Our waiter Mario went above and beyond. They all treated us like royalty! Definitely will go again. Can't believe didn't know about this place as I so at the Popa Joe's and its in the same strip mall. Do go you will actually love this place.
I took my mom here for dinner and the food was amazing. We had the salmon and filet; both were so tasty. Dessert was to die for. Loved the ambiance and the service. The owner is the absolute best too. We’re already planning our next visit.
My wife and I stumbled into this hidden gem of Rochester Hills. It is the best Italian food in town. The atmosphere transported us to a cafe adjacent to Via Cavour in Rome. The food was incredible with fresh ingredients, authentic dishes, and creative presentations. The only thing better than the restaurant was the personal touch and service. Our waiter Nick was attentive, informative, and engaged. He found that perfect balance of timing to keep us wined and dined while allowing our conversation to remain intimate. We had an early dinner but were delighted to catch the beginning of the live music. The vocalist filled the room with our favorite jazz standards. The volume allowed us to focus on our meal but elevated the entire experience. We will be returning very soon. We will be bringing friends and family. We are telling anyone who will listen; La Collina is a must-visit in Rochester Hills.
Such a cute and authentic Italian restaurant!!! First time coming here and will def be back. We ordered the fig and prosciutto special and frittura mista as an appetizer and shared the veal, and cacio e Pepe pasta for our entree. Everything was so delicious, service was attentive, friendly and welcoming- all the staff was super kind And the owners are both very involved and passionate about hospitality and the food they serve. Highly recommend!!
We had a great dinner at La Collina. I will say that their pulpo appetizer is probably my favourite that I have ever had. Pasta was delicious as was our drinks. Will definitely be returning!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience! Every dish was delicious! Wait staff was first rate! We will be back!
Literally the best service ever!! Blleeeendddii is the man! Literally I’m the most picky person ever! But the filet tips were soo damn good, the Caesar salad, the cauliflower was soo good & I even tried calamari for the first time ever! It was so good I’m shocked, the “Alfredo” which is very similar is so good & drink pours were amazing ! So happy with this experience ! First time here and definitely not the last!
We had a very authentic Italian experience at La Colina Ristorante in Rochester, Michigan. We started with the Burrata Caprese which had the best flavor, although a little small in size. Our next order was the Linguine Nere Allo Scoglio ~ which is the “squid ink linguine”. This was amazing. Very rich in flavor along with the seafood toppings. The Strozzapretti Norcina was also very flavorful. The lamb shank was “fall-off-the-bone”, very tender although, it did require a little more seasoning (my own opinion). We finished with the Tiramisu! All in all I highly recommend experiencing La Colina yourself! 🤗
One of the best Italian restaurants in the area . Beef bites appetizer is so delicious. The pasta is great option too Highly recommended
Probably my favorite Italian restaurant! It’s so good and you can tell it’s all made right there, and the service is on point. Definitely a higher class place to go.
Great atmosphere, live music (Saturday ) owners are very active. The food is delicious.
Best chef in town, delicious food, great service, nice atmosphere
the food was delicious and the service was amazing , all workers were super friendly. amazing live music, the performer was also so so nice :)
Had dinner here with a few friends and had the best service and food! I had the steak tip pasta and it was phenomenal and my friends had the Filet and both loved it!! Will def be back! Highly recommend!
Highly recommend! The food was delicious, our server Adele was very sweet and helpful with dinner recommendations! She personally picked out my meal and it was the best decision ever! We will be coming back again soon (although we are still full from our meal and dessert)!
Everything was delicious, server and owner were very kind and generous.
La Collina is the perfect mix of elegance and comfort. Great for both casual nights and special occasions
This place is a hidden gem.. if you are dying for some good Italian food and not the normal "run of the mill" Italian restaurant.. try this place. It's small, private and humble (which I prefer, more intimate setting)...the staff is top notch, and I've never eating anything here that I did not like. They make you feel like family and go above and beyond your satisfaction. The servers are fantastic and all around the service is just 10 star... go...enjoy...have a wonderful glass of wine from their thoughtful and well picked wine list... and eat their specials. you will never be disappointed!
Hands down the best meal we’ve had out in years. Worth every penny. You’re going to spend a good amount of money but you absolutely get what you pay for. Mario was a fantastic server. From start to finish, we enjoyed every minute of my wife’s 40th birthday dinner. Definitely coming back.
We had been hearing great things about the food and service here. We don’t live in the area, but decided to make the drive for my wife’s bday. We went with some good friends and all had a wonderful evening. Nothing better than a locally owned restaurant with amazing service, food and atmosphere. We couldn’t help but notice their large patio. That will be great! We started with a Caesar salad, which the waiter made from scratch right at our table. So cool and so good! For our entrees we had the filet, halibut and 2 homemade pasta dishes. Everything was incredible!! Of course we had to finish off with dessert and the flavors kept coming. Thank you for a wonderful evening...we are big fans and will be back!!
Had a wonderful experience eating here with my boyfriend tonight. The food was incredible, and the service was even better. Our waiter Nick made the whole experience over the top. His recommendations were perfect and he was genuinely happy to see us enjoy our night. We will definitely be back again soon! If you visit, ask for Nick. He was an absolute gem!
What a hidden treasure! Last night was our first time dining here. Everything was perfect…Mario was our waiter. I give him a 10! The entire staff was excellent. The food and presentation was amazing! The ambiance is so warm and inviting. I encourage everyone to come here…you will not be disappointed. We’ve found our new local spot!
Absolute best Italian food I’ve ever had in the US. Very authentic. Honestly best food I’ve had in a long time, in general. Lamb was beyond outstanding, pastas were perfect. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.
Took a wealthy client here for dinner and it was superb. The staff were true fine dining staff, everything was perfect including their timing and the food was to die for. I spent $168 for the 2 if us including 2 drinks and an appetizer salad but it was worth every penny. I had the filet and she had the salmon and we shared the beet salad. Yum! Will mark this as a fine dining spot when I’m back next year for client meetings.
We absolutely love this place! The food is always consistently delicious...been a regular for three years now. Their wine offerings are diverse and if they don't have something you like they will order it in for you! We enjoy the intimate feeling of the restaurant and the friendly service they offer.
Food and service is on point! Staff paid attention to our table and when addressed different food diets, the server recommended wonderful option including something custom! Highly recommend!
My husband and I have been coming here for a few years now, we’ve only ever greeted with smiles! The owner makes you feel like family! We don’t just come here for the staff but the food always, leaves us speechless!!! We’ve practically tried the whole menu! My husband’s a big time foodie and he has never left La Collina without a belly full and a happy face! You have to try the chicken cremosi, veal and the lamb chops! They have the BEST, most fluffiest, cloud like, tiramisu I’ve ever had! I can’t forget about the Bolognese, extra spicy! 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
I've gotten many different dishes here and they all knock it out of the park. The Cacio E Pepe is the best I've ever had. It's a must order everytime you go to split with the table. I'm an East Italian and this Westside place gets my stamp of approval.
We had a terrible experience at another Italian place down the road, so we left and came here. The hostesses were awesome when we told them we did not have a reservation and what had happened. Despite being packed and a Saturday night, they managed to get us in in about 10 minutes. The service and food were both outstanding. We will for sure be back. Before leaving we took a few minutes to thank the owner and praise his staff. He was so thankful and when he found out we were celebrating a birthday insisted we stay for a drink on him. Thanks everyone at La Collina for a great meal!
I had the Ora King Salmon, and it was okay. It needed to be more done for my tastes. It says on the menu that it is cooked medium, but I asked the waiter for well done, and I wondered if he told the cook staff or forgot, but I couldn't finish it. The veggies were seasoned well. My hubby had the Pollo Pugliese, which was delicious. I didn't order alcoholic beverages, so I can't comment on that portion. I am glad I was able to go to this restaurant. All in all the food was good. The waiter knew the menu, which helped us decide if I would go back. Yes. Will I go back anytime soon? No.
The food was expensive but delicious. I especially liked the vegetable soup and risotto. My husband liked lamb chop. The service was a little slow.
Attractive decor in this Italian restaurant. Starters, soups, salad, pasta, and main entrees round out a solid menu. Service was extremely good - very attentive, but not overbearing. Try the Ceasar Salad - a traditional style made table side!!
Was pretty good and the atmosphere nice but cheesecake was strange and the eggplant parm came in a bed of very fried and not good tasting spinach. The salads and appetizers were good.
The lamb chops and the Caccio e Peppe were amazing. Our waitress was wonderful. Everyone worked together to serve us. Definitely will return.
one of the dishes I ordered was salty. And also noticed that the portions are smaller than usual dinner portions.
I am Italian born in Rome and I love this restaurant. I have been there three times already. But the last time I was there the waiter (by the way, a very attentive, professional and friendly young man) at the end of the dinner with my girl friend, suggested her a sip of "Vin Santo", an Italian sweet wine. Well, that sip (for one person) in a mini-glass, was $28.00! For less than this amount, I can get a shot of 15 years old pure Malt whisky from the Scotlands. That is really too much. But, having said that, this is a great place to enjoy authentic Italian food. So I still recommend it, and i will still go back. I will just avoid to order Vin Santo! :-)
Seeing as it was Valentine's Day few real things drew back from our experience the customary rose and candle were missing from our table, the server only checked on us once which is expected on Valentines. The manager was extremely friendly greeting everyone around however the food took extremely long even for Valentine's. However the overall experience was good.
The restaurant itself was very welcoming and had a very friendly atmosphere, staff was amazing and even recommended dishes because this had been our first time here. The appetizer were very savory and had lots of flavors. I would recommend the caprese and their bread with mushrooms spread. But unfortunately both our entrees had lacked in flavor, I had ordered the Lamb chops and they were cooked perfectly to fall off the bone, but despite how well the Lamb was cooked it Lacked flavor, there was no sauce or anything and almost little to no seasoning. I started having to put the bread mushroom spread on my lamb to actually eat it because it was so bland. The scallops were good for our second entree, but the rissoto for both entrees was also very bland and lacked flavor, also the risotto almost was as if it hadn’t absorbed all of the stock when being cooked because of how dry it was. the reduced balsamic greens were very good and i would recommend but overall this restaurant lacked in flavor in entrees and sides
We have visited La Collina twice in the last 6 years. The first visit was prior to the name change just after the new owners purchased the business. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. I had hoped that after several years, there would have been improvements since their purchase. The hostess was kind and offered to take our coats, which was a hospitable gesture. However, when we were leaving, the hostess was not available, and we had to ask other staff members about our coats. I ended up having to walk to the back of the restaurant to retrieve our coats, which were hanging up by a rear entrance. Our martinis were only 2/3 full, and my drink was prepared incorrectly, so I had to send it back. Unfortunately, it was returned still only 2/3 full. We ordered Stracciatella soup, which was not good. The soup lacked sophistication in its preparation and was greasy. The texture resembled sawdust rather than the expected shredded egg and Parmesan cheese. For our main courses, my wife ordered the Linguine Nere allo Scoglio, which had insufficient seafood, and I had the Strozzapretti Norcina, which had very little Italian sausage. Both dishes were requested to be cooked al dente but turned out mushy and served luke warm. Despite these disappointments, the restaurant had a lively atmosphere, and our waiter was nice.
Food was hot but the Strozzapretti Norcina entree was authentic only if there was a famine in Italy. The portion was minuscule for the 20-odd dollars they charge. Quality was okay but not good. Worse, the owner responds to almost every negative review with extreme disrespect to guests with similar issues in their experience. This makes sense considering the poor service. The waiters whisper-mumbled everything to the point of being unintelligible.
Changing my review from 5 stars due to a poor experience. Small portions. Missed two of our orders, barely checked on us, the hardest thing to get was water!! All the other waiters seemed very attentive and kind while ours was MIA, and the owner/manager was only paying attention to a table of his friends. He was the kindest one last time and this time did not bother except for his VIPs, our sleepy waiter was in the back most of the night.
The food and our waiter were amazing. Unfortunately our experience was ruined by a table behind us that was loud and overserved. But what made it unbearable was that whenever their waiter came over he would rile them up even more. They were so loud that patrons and waiters at the far side of the restaurant were looking and visibly upset. No management ever stepped in to ask them to quiet down or to tell their waiter to stop. The atmosphere reminded me of a sports bar, which is fine if that's what you want, but we wanted and paid for a romantic quiet dinner.
$217 dollars later for 2 and we were to say the least…unsatisfied. Small portions, dry squid ink risotto, $12 for one very small side dish of spinach. I couldn’t understand my waiter and he apparently misunderstood me as well. My tiny piece of salmon for $45 was cooked perfectly. (It looks bigger in the photo but it’s barely 3oz) There will not be a return visit. I just noticed I received a response from this establishment. I’m pretty sure attacking your customers on the internet when they dislike your terrible food choices is the way to go for more customers. I’ve been cooking for 30 years and my google review status is based on what I post not what I cook. I make salmon daily at the restaurant I work at. I tasted a quality salmon at your restaurant as I said in my earlier review however the size was the size. Because the salmon still had a lot of moisture in it there wasn’t a ton of shrinkage. What I was served was tiny portions of terrible food for top dollar. Good luck, as I said before I will not be returning and neither will my friends.
Celebrated my sister‘s birthday with the family. Food was extremely expensive and lacked in seasoning which defeats the purpose for fresh food. Service from our waiter was great. Altogether we had a $600 bill and tipped our waiter $100 but the owner treated, my sister like a thief when she help herself to one single flower that was already almost dead. Simple, misunderstanding on our part, and believing that the single flower left on our table was a gift for her birthday however, one the owner called us out disrespectfully and unnecessarily we put it back and he still post the situation claiming that a single rose flower cost him money, and that he doesn’t mind calling the police even after she put it back and claiming that he would lie to the police saying that we still have a flower. Everything was great up until that point. We told him that he lost, great first time customers but after the owner got paid, it seemed that he didn’t care at all about customer service on his end. He proceeded to telling us that he has lasted four years in this restaurant and doesn’t mind getting any one star reviews for a simple, misunderstanding situation that he took overboard . It was not fair for him to treat us that disrespectfully, especially after a good dining experience, and a good relationship with the waiter. The owner should definitely take notes from his kind employees instead of proceeding to curse out his customers for a small, petty misunderstanding of a reason. The whole situation was uncalled for and childish as well as unbelievably disgusting. Definitely will never come back.
I have been coming here a lot the last year but lately the food and quality of service has really took a downturn. I don’t appreciate the waiters giving me dirty looks or taking forever to bring small things when the restaurant is not at capacity.
This place is a hot mess. We went here last night for date night and waited 40 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. We were warned by several customers at the bar to be prepared for the longest dinner ever because this happens all the time there. I asked why do you guys come here, she replied it was her husband's bday and he loved their food otherwise they wouldn't be there. I knew we should've just left right then and there. Finally got seated our server was good but holy moly it took FOREVER for our food. Over an hour which is just crazy to me for a two top. The server kept coming back saying "I told them to fire it so long ago, I'm sorry." We didn't order appetizers just a Caesar salad which came out quickly for my husband. It wasn't as if they were pacing our meal, it was just that long! Our server also told us several times the manager was coming to talk to us and never did. We spent $205.56 between our tab at the bar and finally sitting at our table. This restaurant doesn't deserve couples to come in that are willing to spend money and treat them so poorly. Although it did seem like the regulars that came in did get preferential treatment. I hope with that steakhouse going in next door it whips them into shape a little bit. I wish we would have just stayed at the bar and ate too but we were told for 40 minutes just a "couple more minutes," "just 3 or 4 more minutes." I'm sure I will get some snarky comment back from the owner/manager but they definitely need to get it together.
La Collina in Rochester Hills! I would give 0 stars if I could! I have been to this restaurant a few times and always with a group and their food quality has gone down drastically! We ordered a Caesars salad for two. The romain lettuce was old and wilted! The dressing was awful. Service was slow and several dishes were incorrect. We had to ask for pepper on our salad. When complaining about the salad the owner ( who was our waiter) sarcastically told my friend well the other 3 liked it! That wasn’t true we just didn’t say anything. But when he came back to the table I told him it was terrible and was charged $28! He got in my face and said we should be grateful because he did us a favor and did separate checks for 9 of us! He also said I should respect and be grateful because I was in his house! We were HIS guests! He has lost me forever! I will NOT go back! Don’t waste your time and money for mediocre overpriced food and terrible customer service from the owner! The eggplant was not bad but what ruined it was the deep fried spinach! Horrible! If they took the time to sauté it in olive oil and fresh garlic it would have been wonderful! This is definitely NOT good Italian food! Go to Silverspoon! Even Bologna’s is far better!
