Just popped in for lunch while on the road. Warm and friendly spot on a nice block of shops. Had a delicious Reuben and a great latte for reasonable prices. *Super* friendly staff. Good WiFi and nice bathrooms a plus. I’d be a regular, if I lived here.
I usually never leave reviews, but this place is amazing! Their coffee is delicious, all of the food I've tried is incredible! 10/10 recommend trying this place! Super nice staff as well!
Driving thru town and saw this ship. Awesome place all around. Service was quick, prices reasonable, great setting and best of all good food.
When transiting Northern New York from Massena to Vermont my favorite coffee oasis to stop at is Lakeside Coffee. Operated by Norm, Sonya and family, this little cafe is a gem! Norm roasts his own bean and has some of the best coffee I've had. The sandwiches, salads and snacks are great too. You have to check their hours to make sure you don't get there too late. Definitely worth the stop!
Great little spot to get a homemade lunch and tea! The staff is so warm and helpful they altered a menu item to vegetarian for me, it was delicious. Check out the beta fish and enjoy the comfy atmosphere.
This place is great! Haven't been in 2 years because of the closed borders, and they still serve great coffee and food with great service by friendly staff. Rouse's Point is fortunate to have such a hub of social activity in town.
Such a great little cafe and coffee shop!! You can't beat local, and you can't beat the small batch coffee roasters!! Excellent all the way around, the food, the service and the coffee!! Thank you Norm and crew! (10-8!)
The best coffee. They source it, they roast it, they have their own, excellent house blends so they are in control every step of the way. You can ven make up your own. Amazing to find something that's such a luxury right on my doorstep! So much better than chain store coffee!
We had two of the freshest, tasty salads one could wish for. Very friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. We will be making this place a destination on our next trip! Highly recommended.
Staff was very friendly. Both the drinks and the food were good. We had the peanut butter mocha and breakfast sandwiches. There are tables and some arm chairs so its a nice place to sit and chat.
We had coffee delivered for the holidays. It’s always a big hit with our family. Freshly roasted handcrafted coffee. It’s obviously a passion for these folks. We can’t wait to stop in next time we are in RP. Keep up the great work!
Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had! Such a pleasant surprise for someone just passing through on the way to the border. Very nice interior design, excellent cappucino properly served in china cups. The english muffin was exqusitely fluffy and so was the scambled egg.
Really great coffee, salads and sandwiches. Nice attentive staff. A perfect first bio/coffee stop when coming in from the border and heading to Vermont. Check the hours. They are limited.
Genuine coffee. No frills necessary. Roasted on site. Nice selection of bakery items and home made soups. A popular town gathering place. Great winter warm up after ice fishing Lake Champlain.
Some of the tastiest coffee my friend and I have ever had. We came to Rouses Point from Northwestern Vermont along Route 2, and were astounded by the lack of coffee seemingly anywhere in the islands of Lake Champlain. During our search for an oasis in this coffee desert, we pulled up to a food truck advertising breakfast and lunch food and asked for coffee — the owner replied, “...Coffee? We have no coffee here.” We had grown groggy by this point, and cannot reliably say whether she also said, “We haven’t had that spirit here since 1969.” Disappointed but not yet broken, we asked if she knew where we could find any coffee.. “Oh, yeesh..I don’t know about that...Not much coffee around these parts.” We said thank you and returned to the car. But moments before we pulled away, we heard a voice through the window shout “Wait!” And it was, of course, our friend from the truck. “My friend bought a church, ‘bout ten miles back, and turned it into a shop. She might have espresso. But I don’t know when she’s open.” We weren’t getting our hopes up enough to turn back to from where we had come. So we beat on, towards the prospect of a brew beyond the state line. Chapter Two - Found in New York: Rouses Point is a small town in the Northeast corner of the Empire State where desperate, bleary, un-caffeinated travelers find relief at last. Lakeside Coffee appeared to us through a golden break in the dark clouds, and we dared to smile as we parked across the street. We got out and walked towards the door, where the OPEN sign hung like a wink from an angel at the gates, or a warm blanket upon a shivering shoulder — Only to see a masked man walk up to the sign from within the store and flip it to CLOSED, because the angel was a demon in disguise, the gates led straight to Hell, and that blanket was only warm on account of its being covered in rancid microwaved tuna and a rusty bucket’s worth of steaming raccoon piss. We just about collapsed onto the tar beneath our aching feet. Dejected, broken men. Our wanderings had cost us ten crucial minutes. Unbeknownst to us, it was 2:09. And then the man opened the door. “What are you guys looking for?” He asked. “COFFEE!!” “...Hey, we’ve got that.” The angel, the gates, the warmth without all the gross stuff! Lakeside, run by Sonya and her husband, is a beautiful shop with a heart. They source the best coffees they know of from all over the world, including a Guatemalan medium roast with unbelievably scrumptious notes of cherry, and they know how to make the day of two tired, needy travelers. We wish them all the best.
Beautiful coffee shop and friendly servers- sometimes slow as it is a popular place, but worth the stop and a great asset to the north country.
Onion bagel with bacon-scallion cream cheese. Game changer. Thanks, Lakeside, for being such a great local café! We always make it a point to stop by whenever we come down from Canada 🇨🇦
Good sandwiches here! I'd recommend if you're passing through rouses point. Fresh coffee polite store personnel.
Always a good place to stop for coffee and a scone on our trip to Vermont. Friendly staff. Electric car charging not too far away.
Came up to Rouses Point to see our new grand daughter and stopped by Lakeside coffee. Once again, we weren’t disappointed. The friendly service, coffee, muffins, and breakfast croissant was amazing! We’ll definitely stop by again prior to heading back to Texas.
Best coffee shop around! Norm, Sonya and the staff are very friendly. The coffee beans are roasted on site by Norm. I usually get the Italian roast but my family and I have tried many of the other coffees and drinks on the menu and we love everything! The food is all homemade and my kids and I love to go there all the time for lunch. This is such a great coffee shop!
This place is a Gem of Rouses Point, I have lived here only a few months but have been in a few times just for coffee. Knowing that the bean is freshly ground to order lets me know the coffee will be only the very best. Love this place, and the owner is so inviting... From the Gay couple in the corner thursday morning, thanks for breakfast. See you again soon.
So thank you CBP for refusing our entry into Canada. If it wasn’t for them we would have never found this hidden gem. The owners are so welcoming and friendly. The staff were so nice . The food and coffee...omg ! Freshly made and tasty. We can’t wait for borders to open up so we can take all our rider friends to this amazing little spot. We wish you continuing success and see you soon.
I was holding off on a rating until I had pics, but I think that's just not right! This place feels like a coffee house to me in all the right ways. Come in and enjoy some Joe - there's plenty of window space. Get a bagel or sandwich. But make sure you get the coffee. This place is right before the Vermont Bridge and right on the lake shore. Parking is easy - on the street or the lot literally across the way. Highly recommend- with pictures coming!!!
Loved the place. It’s hardly half a mile after crossing the border. Good place to take a break after a long queue at the border. We went for a coffee, cappuccino, veggie omelette bowl and an apple walnut salad. They, unfortunately, ran out of walnuts, so it was substituted by pecans. Everything was great. Loved the omelette and the salad. Salad would have been better with arugula and spinach instead of lettuce though. The staff were nice and friendly. Nice clean place. There is street parking outside and a parking lot across the street. Definitely recommended!
They roast their own coffee right here, and have fair-trade options. Muffins are yummy. Open floor plan, really pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and owners! Feels like home :-) I didn't eat here but saw the sandwiches they were bringing out, and the looked yummy and we're enormous!
Still Awesome On my bicycle rides around the northern part of the lake, I've been stopping at Lakeside Coffee for more than ten years. I usually get the turkey gobbler sandwich . . . this time on panini - outstanding. The dark roast coffee was excellent. Bathrooms clean. The staff and Management are most welcoming. And for cyclists there is a bike rack in front and picnic tables across the street.
Coffee is literally roasted at the store. We'll worth the stop while travelling in the area. Large seating area and clean restrooms.

Great coffee roasted on site, the food is always great and this place never fails to satisfy
This coffee shop is truly a gem. Family run and very welcoming. They make their baked goods and roast the coffee beans. It's my favorite place to get work done while having a lovely breakfast. If you haven't been, make the trip, you won't regret it. You may find yourself feeling compelled to leave a great review yourself!
The owners and staff were really nice! The food was really fresh, well thought out and very good. It looks as though they roast their own coffee and the coffee was very good as well! We were on a bike trip and they even let us bring our bikes ( with our expensive bike packing gear on them) into the shop so we could keep an eye on them. I wholeheartedly recommend this place...healthy food, nice people, and good coffee...what more could you want?
Great cafe stop. Good strong espresso in my cappuccino, made properly (and not the Starbucks way!). Clean washrooms and lots of space. We had a piece of coffee cake too; delicious!
Nothing but great things to say about this place. The ladies working were so nice and welcoming. Had a larger order and they were so quick and everything was delicious! Great for a quick stop after coming back from a trip from Canada :)
Staff was outstanding! Super welcoming and friendly. Loved our food. Absolutely stop in!
I love this place! Definitely recommend stopping in for a home feel shop! The customer service is friendly, they make you feel like you're a good ole friend. The building was refurbished around 2007 and has a great open space with antique coffee decor that just makes it feel like your at home drinking coffee. The drinks and food are amazing. On a hot summer day I love to take my ice mocha frap for a walk by the beautiful water. Swing by for a try!! ❤️❤️
What's not to love about Lakeside Coffee? The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. The coffee is FANTASTIC and reminds you of what a good cup of coffee really tastes like. The food never disappoints. The atmosphere is so welcoming! Absolutely check them out, whether your are popping in for a quick morning coffee or sitting down for breakfast / lunch!!
While visiting family, our cousin’s son suggested we gather for breakfast at Lakeside and what a great idea. The coffee was delicious and the breakfast offerings (breakfast sandwiches, burritos, etc) were fresh and tasty. What most impressed us, though, was the level of customer service. It was obvious the owners wanted to provide the best experience possible. The next time we’re in Rouses Point, it’ll be on our agenda!
This morning Donna and I stopped into Lakeside Coffee ☕ and I’ve got to say, it’s places like this that remind you why local spots matter. Donna ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on an English muffin 🥓🍳🧀. Nothing fancy. Just the classics done right. The bacon had that perfect bite, the egg was cooked just the way you’d hope, and the cheese melted together like it was meant to be there. Sometimes the simple things, when they’re done well, are better than anything complicated. Now let’s talk coffee. The hot coffee was brewed perfectly. Nice and smooth. No bitterness. No burnt aftertaste. Just a clean, easy cup that you can actually enjoy without doctoring it up. You can tell when someone takes pride in what they’re serving. I went with an iced coffee 🧊 and it was spot on. Refreshing, bold without being overpowering, and smooth from the first sip to the last. It didn’t need a pile of sugar to make it drinkable, which says everything. What I really appreciate about Lakeside is the atmosphere. It feels welcoming. Comfortable. The kind of place where you can sit down, have a real conversation, and slow life down for a minute. In today’s world, that matters. Good food. Great coffee. Friendly vibe. Supporting local never goes out of style ❤️ Lakeside Coffee is doing it right.
We have been coming here periodically during the sail season for the last three years. Consistently first rate coffee, generous breakfast sandwiches, yummy baked goods. The service is always warm & welcoming. Prices are competitive. When you're not a regular but you see regulars...an incredible spot for sure.
Driving from Montreal to Boston and realized that my GPS was directing me to a ferry so I got off I- 87 and went through Rouses Point and stopped at this cute coffee shop. The young lady was very pleasant and the coffee was surprisingly good. We had blueberry scones too equally good and did not disintegrate into crumbs on my lap as I was driving. Now we have a go-to place for our next trip to Quebec and back. September 26, 2024 Last time we stopped it was our luck, this time it was on purpose and we found the same friendly service, good coffee delicious muffins clean restrooms. A hometown business not a chain

They roast there own coffee on site. It doesn't get better than that. I went with a friend for a breakfast sandwich and a latte. The portions were good the atmosphere laid back and it didnt break the bank
Great local coffee shop. Owners are always friendly. I just wished they were opened later in the afternoon.
I am not super generous with five star reviews. Typically, for restaurants, I need to try them twice. This is a nice place. My wife had a breakfast burrito which was good. I had the decaf coffee. It had a nice flavour but it was not strong enough for my taste. Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. I would go back and do recommend.
I love having this coffee shop as a local option. Their iced latte options and chai are fantastic, and the food (when available) has always been delicious thanks to the partnership with Delicious Beauty Café. That said, the management side feels a little inconsistent. Both the café and kitchen open at 7:30am, which makes it tough for work commutes. Often only one barista is on in the mornings, so there can be a wait right at opening. Food is hit or miss depending on whether the kitchen staff shows up on time (or at all), and it doesn’t seem like the baristas are kept in the loop. This has happened on several occasions, today being one. More robust online ordering for food would also be a great improvement. Despite these challenges, the baristas are always warm and kind — I’ll never forget my first visit as a new mom after dropping my daughter off for school for the first time. The baristas were so kind and made me feel welcome. The products are excellent, and I truly hope the new owners are working on smoothing out the operations, because this spot has so much potential.

Not as good as it used to be in terms of service and available variety of foods. For instance at one time the only muffin choice was chocolate chip. Ordered a scone, warmed up and was served uncut with no butter or knife and or kn
Pastries ordered were warmed without asking. Never seen a place warm up a scone nor any pastry before, EVER. Would of NOT liked them warmed but didn’t notice til we sat down. Had an iced coffee and was asked room for cream and like any other coffee house you put your own cream as to how dark or light you want it but was surprised that they added it for me. On plus side: waitstaff person was friendly. And why is there a sad looking Beta fish tank in a coffee shop? Was a little odd and somewhat gross. Don’t get me started on a wooden cross on their window..little off-putting. Think I’ll find other places to get my coffee.

A few excellent specialty coffee houses in the area use Lakeside's roasts for their brews. Knowing this, I highly anticipated trying a latte direct to source. What I received was essentially straight oakmilk, barely steamed and frothed, and the espresso might as well have been microdosed (call any wet lab chemists you know, because it's going to take a strict titration to detect any coffee in there at all). If you thought the breakfast menu would redeem this place, just know you're better off driving 100 miles to the nearest Denny's or heating up the Jimmy Dean sandwich in the back of your freezer (you know the one you bought several months ago--the one you didn't want to eat). If you're headed north, skip this place for literally any coffee house in Montreal. If you're headed south, drop by Chapter One in Plattsburgh instead.
I’ve tried to come here multiple times, and never once have I had a good experience. I’ve been a barista for 7 years so I know what I latte should taste like, it’s not very hard to mess up. But somehow each time it just gets worse and worse. The one I just tried from them tasted like syrup and cheep almond milk. The women they have working the counter are always rude and unhelpful. I came in originally to buy a bag of coffee for someone as a gift *which I will now not be giving* and the woman at the counter rolled her eyes multiple times when I was trying to decide on what roast. She offered no suggestions or help with anything & made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. There was no one else in line, & it wasn’t busy at the time, but as soon as i got there she made me feel like i was an inconvenience for her. Also while waiting for my coffee I noticed the suffering beta fish they seem to always have on display at the counter. Animal abuse isn’t great for business, it’s quite disgusting to see. I will not be returning here. The vibe is very middle age republican mom, & their “baristas” should not be serving coffee or working in customer service in general. I’m sure they believe they’re doing great because of the easy to please people in the north country and loyal elderly regulars, but their service is truly quite sad.

So slow, no customer service. Walked out after being ignored for 10 minutes.
